What once was a garage is now a beloved restaurant in Butte. The first thing you'll notice is the antique collection they have decorating their walls and ceiling. There is also a beautiful vintage truck right when you walk in and you can even sit in the bed of it to eat! So clever. They have a back patio that overlooks the flats and the Highlands that's great to sit on in the summertime (or as long as humanly possible). My favorite salad in town is definitely the strawberry avocado and it is also very good with both the salmon and the chicken on top. The first thing I ever tried there were their fried pickle spears, something I had never seen before. Their breading had a nice seasoning to it and was light and flakey, they were great. It's possible that the best thing they have, though, is their brisket with their vast selection (4) of different barbecue sauces. I would definitely recommend stopping in whether you live here full time or are just passing through. read more

good customer service though I had ordered the supreme nachos and found various salt clumps wedged in between the chips and toppings which in turn made the dining experience much worse than what it could have been. Each time I ate one of the clumps it was like the devil struck down my taste buds making them squirm when I ate the deathly amount of salt. Other than that it is pretty good read more

The food was just awful. There may be other reasons to go to Sparky's Garage, but don't go for the food. The fish and chips were obviously pre-made, frozen and then deep fried. The result was dried out and stringy (not a good look in fish). The same concept produced dried out sweet potato fries. My wife's salad with chicken(?) was also dried out and chewy. I usually don't comment of bad food, but this was very bad, expensive food. read more

We were in Butte and decided to give Sparky's Garage a try since it was nearby. The best part of the experience was definitely the ambiance. The space is mainly wooden with lots of metal. Signs, lampshades, and even an old car. There are a lot of interesting objects to look at and keep your attention. Unfortunately, the lampshade at our booth was right at eye level so that the light was shining right in our eyes. Similar lampshades at other tables were raised several feet and that would have been better. There is also a screened in area with an amazing view of the mountains. I'd probably choose to sit there if I went back. Service was pretty good. We were seated quickly. Our waitress was friendly and quick to take our order. The food itself took quite a while to arrive but they were fairly busy. The food was disappointing. I ordered the Smokehouse Philly with fries. I asked our waitress if the fries were crispy, and she said they could do that. When they arrived, they were the opposite of crispy. Soggy. So that was disappointing. I liked the Philly but I was not a fan of the au jus. The menu had mentioned it was a bbq au jus and it definitely was. I found the bbq to be cloying and would have preferred plain au jus. If I'm in Butte again, I will try some place else. read more

We drove 15 min out of our way on a road trip to come here based on Yelp reviews and it was a great decision. The menu had a great variety and there were plenty of options for gluten-free me. The waitress was happy to get clarification on the GF questions I had (some places are put out to do so). Our crew had a salad, a pulled pork sandwich and a burger. We all really enjoyed our meals (5 stars). The flavors were great and the portions were perfect. There was a ton of seating on the back porch which had a nice view of the city and mountains. It was covered so gave us a break from the sun and was nice not to have to keep adjusting a sun umbrella. The restaurant was clean and so were the bathrooms (which I find to be representative of what is really happening behind the scenes). I would recommend it and would even eat there again if in the area. Enjoy! read more

I don't have a whole lot to say about my visit to Sparky's, but it was pretty good! The thing that still stands out to me the most was the crazy view at the restaurant. There were wide windows all along where you could look out and see the snow capped mountains way in the distance. It was stunning, and quite the way to take a meal. The food didn't shock me into a trance or make me want to completely forget about it. It was somewhere in the middle of average. The nacho appetizer was probably the best part. I did enjoy my simple grilled cheese and tomato soup, though. A last note is that my dear mother mistakenly thought this place was called 'Stinky's' when trying to remember the name after going. Sparky's definitely doesn't STINK, but with how hysterical we found that to be I thought it was funny enough to share here. Rock on, Stinky's! read more

This place was recommended to us by the front desk agent at our hotel and we couldn't have been more pleased! We were lucky enough to get the seat in the back of the old truck, which on kids loved! The whole atmosphere was so fun!! The service: our server was a godsend. She was supposed to have gotten off the floor, but the girl releasing her had to take off. In spite of that she was extremely kind, patient, and helpful. Plus, all the things she suggested were DELICIOUS. She went above and beyond and we couldn't have been more grateful. The food: The beer, the drinks, the food, the homemade bbq sauce - perfect. My crispy chicken sandwich was SO good. It was like a piece of southern fried chicken on bun. It was light and delicious. I highly recommend. My husband got the chicken avocado sandwich and also really enjoyed it. My kids all got cheeseburgers and ate every bite. They also bring this caddy of four different bbq sauces (LOVE) anyone who knows me know I'm yhe condiment queen so I had to try them all! They were all great, but my favorite was the honey bbq! Food was great! Service was good. Not too long of a wait for 2, 10-15 minutes. The staff was really busy, but there were quite a few empty tables. Need to staff up. There is quite a big waiting area, but only 1 bench. There is something odd about the entrance. It wasn't clear that you needed to walk all the way in past all the waiting people to ask for a table. And then there were 3 or 4 people standing around and not greeting us. I had to ask if we could put our name on the list, then walk back to the waiting area in the front. I think they need to move a podium up front and add more benches. Once we got seated, things were fine, but we kept getting walked by when we needed things. Once the crowd thinned out, service was better. But as I said, the place was never full. read more

This is always our pit stop on the way from Utah to Idaho. We always check yelp for the best reviews. Sparky's won! We were so impressed with the ambiance. Totally our style. It took us over an hour to get our food, which was greasy and not even tasty. The portions of some of the items (for instance, the brisket sandwich) were tiny. To top it all off, when I (a young woman) asked for a table outside, I was turned down with the excuse that the only table big enough to accommodate our group of 4 was being "saved" in case an even bigger group shows up. However, when minutes later a male from our group asked for the same table for the same group of four, he was told we could have it. Honestly, you can get better food and service at a McDonalds. Didn't exhibit the texture or flavor from smoking meat low and slow. Baked? Great atmosphere, great food! We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner; my southwest salad had lots of components, and the portions were huge! My dad ordered the strawberry butter cake for dessert, which is like a lightly fried sponge cake with strawberry sauce, fresh strawberries, whipped cream and ice cream. We all dug in, and it was delicious. If that weren't enough, the decor is fabulous - oil rags (clean, obviously) are used instead of napkins, and tons of old signs for gas and oil, but also for candy, soda, cigarettes - even old license plates! And there's an honest-to-god 40's pickup truck inside the restaurant, and they installed a table in the bed big enough for a family of 6 to eat dinner.
