It is kind of a lemony and citrusy tasting (with a clean finish) beer which I really liked a lot! In addition to that I had their house made root beer which was excellent also! I decided then to get the Honey Cream Ale in a four pack can. This beer didn't taste great because it had an unfortunate metallic taste to it. But the idea is that there is honey and creamy characteristics to it. Too bad the taste of the can was a dominant flavor in this since I am sure it wasn't intentional. The taproom is nice, spacious and you can get a great view of the surrounding area. Definitely a place to get their drinks from the tap as they are certainly good but be aware of the cans and possibly metallic flavor.

I loved this place. Walked in, and it was only the owner and his friend. I think they were surprised to have someone in the bar they had never seen before, but they quickly cleaned up the bar top, smiled, and grabbed us some beers. Both guys were super friendly, and I loved hearing about the history of the bar and Butte. Walk under the welcoming hanging sing, through the front door, and the bar is immediately left. There was a couch, jukebox, and musical instruments on the right. No tables or anything like that, but again maybe COVID. The Dollar reminds me of a place where most activity happens at the bar anyway. The bar has an old school wooden tap with a medium rail. Below there is a box footrest that sits under the round padded bar stools. The highlight of the bar, though, is the beautiful back bar. It has a large arch and intricate woodwork. A little messy right now, but the bottle shelves still stand out with the red lighting. Opposite the bar, old photos and artwork are displayed against the brick wall. The floor is a little torn up, but I'm not there for the floor; I'm there for the conversation and beer. I'm not sure I'll ever have a reason to return to Butte, but I hope the Silver Dollar Saloon is still serving if I do.

Twelve saloons, six grocery stores, eighteen boarding houses, a community hall, and three saunas…read moreserved "Finn Town," a bustling ethnic enclave in the 1920s. Finns were relative latecomers to Butte, arriving in numbers around 1910. Miners of other nationalities lived here in the 1890s when this two-story brick-veneered boarding house was first constructed. However, by 1906, Hilda Nurmi managed the boarding house, the first of several Finnish proprietors. By 1911, the property boasted that treasured Finnish institution: the sauna. Here, for twenty-five cents, Finns bathed, socialized, and renewed their connection to their homeland. In 1915, the baths were open from three to midnight, with Fridays reserved for ladies. In 1937, John Neimi opened a beer parlor here; it later became the Corner Bar, then the Helsinki. In the 1950s, the Anaconda Company purchased much of the Eastside--including Finn Town--to feed the Berkeley Pit's rapacious appetite and to create a buffer zone around its open-pit mining operation.
