Worst service. When I asked bartender for espresso martini he yelled at me that he is not bartender in general and can make only 5 cocktails. By the end instead of Margarita he served Mule from the can. When I asked questions about the beer he told me to get out and asked about me age (he checked ID 20 min ago). Do not recommend this place to visit otherwise you want to have just beer and ready to wait for 20 mins when Caesar will find time to ask you what you want. read more

So happy the hotel has this place finally open post COVID. Breakfast buffet for $15 is a great deal! You can get fresh made eggs to orders w bacon or sausage n home fries. Coffee, tea, juice and baked goods. All you San eciectvin a breakfast buffet. The bar opens at 5. For dinner as well. Zac the bartender is friendly n courteous n can u say cute?. Eye candy never hurts . I had gin martini stirred not shaken. The next day I tried the wagu sliders $16 so good juicy, perfectly cooked. Compliments to the chef. but they didn't have fries! I am staying at this hotel for 2 nights on Business from NYC. I am the only person in the restaurant on a Friday night that should say EVERYTHING! I should have known. Ordered a flatbread. Simple right? Took 30 minutes and wasn't even cooked! Horrible . Don't go here. Eat locally if you are staying at the hotel. read more

Bar/lounge/restaurant. It can be whatever you want it to be. Pretty easy walk from the alewife T, but also has a parking lot (not sure if you have to be at the hotel to park--check first) 5 stars as a bar/lounge. Our Bartender suggested a VT gin using raw honey that adds floral and herbal notes which was great, then the next round made what he said was actually a very old recipe that had muddled cucumber, lime, gin, st. Germaine and a salted rim--YUM!! And so fresh and cool after a hot day. We also got bacon roasted nuts which was just as good as it sounded. The look, feel, music was all very cool. The food definetly sounded good, but we had already ate. The service we got just sitting out near the courtyard was great as well, so I'd imagine we will be back to fully rate as a restaurant another time. To address one other thing from the only other review on here currently: -I'm not sure why having different types of tables and chairs is confusing. I've been to many bad restaurants with uniform tables/chairs and a hostess to greet at the door. I just said hello to the bartender who said we could sit where we like. And I rather loved my super comfy chair with an ottoman, and would've been happy to eat dinner at that table too; however, plenty of regular "typical dinner" table and chairs if that's what you like read more

This place is terrific! The staff is so friendly I feel like I'm back in the South. Sunday brunch is delicious and the general manager will take good care of you. I had fruit, eggs, potatoes, toast, and coffee and it was all great. Atmosphere is classy and the sofas are very comfortable. read more

So, this is not what I'd call a restaurant. You sort of wander around wondering where you are and if you are inside the food-serving establishment or not. There is no greeter station. You see at least a dozen different styles of chairs or benches (I kid you not): square, round, high, low, upholstered or wooden, etc. There's a large sectional sofa, but no reason to sit there. There's a patio, but wait, no one is out there. Are you supposed to ask to go outside? There are people behind the bar who say hello, but it's not clear - are they supposed to seat you, make drinks, or just welcome you to the hotel? There are books on shelves, but it's not a library. Some of the lighting is bright, and some more loungey. Oh, and there are two random dudes playing pool, but no sign of a menu, table settings or any food being consumed. And this is on a Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in Cambridge! Being adventurous, we decided to stay and give it a chance. I know, I know, just being mentioned in Boston Magazine and several other websites doesn't mean it's any good. One of the server-bartenders came over with a flimsy photocopied single sheet of plain paper - the barely legible menu. Really! At least she brought us some waters right away. Be warned - this really is more of a lounge with snacks than a place to enjoy dinner. Most of the menu did not look like "entrées" to me. Sharing can be fun, but the categories of Small and Large plates didn't make much sense. Since when is a pretzel a Large plate? Even if it's a "giant" pretzel? Forging onward, we opted for the (small) cheese plate plus three or four other "large" plates since the descriptions sounded, you know, small. Next, 6-inch ceramic plates and silverware were delivered. A step in the right direction. Then the server came back and said they were out of the salmon. Okay, no problem - we'll probably have enough other items to eat. At least we ordered the cheese plate which should be coming out any minute! [Assumption.] Nothing happened for about 20 minutes. Actually, let me correct that - a single guy sat down at the bar and started reading a book. Perhaps it has more in common with a library than I thought! Certainly can't complain about the noise level here. But on the other hand, it's tough to feel relaxed when you just don't have much of a confidence level that there is anything going on behind the curtain. Finally, I sort of shouted across the room, "Um, is our cheese plate still coming out first, or if not, could it?" The server replied that she'd have to check on this. Hmm. A minute or two later, she came over to the table to tell us that it turned out that one of the cheeses was expired, so the cheese plate was not coming out first. Okay.... I honestly can't remember what I said at the moment, but was thinking privately, "at least they decided to tell us!" So after she left the table, we were unclear on whether the kitchen staff were out hunting down some more cheese, or if the whole order was just canceled. Bizarre. In the credit-where-credit-is-due category, the food items that did show up were decent. I got something with kale and something with broccoli. The plates were, yes, actually a little larger than I was expecting. It was just the types of items that seemed typical for small plate servings. On a different note, however, we did not specifically come for the drinks, but all of the articles/blurbs I had seen about this place referenced their special bourbon menu and special Manhattan menu, neither of which was offered or mentioned the whole time we were there. In summary, here's what I think happened at Freepoint Kitchen. A chef and a designer got together and launched this lounge, then immediately walked away, leaving it in the hands of some hapless hotel employees and/or college students. With some better service training, changes to make the atmosphere more cohesive, and possibly a better-stocked menu, it could be improved. But I'm not sure I will bother to come back. read more

My husband and I have been here twice for drinks and food. The drinks were fantastic, and every bartender friendly and talkative. They have a whole separate menu devoted to Manhattans. I would approach the food more as snacks/small plates than as a full dinner--though there are enough food options to get full, if you want. Since it's a new spot, they do seem to be figuring out a few details, but I'd highly recommend it for a nice cocktail. They also have a pool table and a nice outdoor space.
