I came on first visit 3/31. I checked in at 11:00 and was told it was a two hour wait. He said I could leave and come back later ( two hours) and receipt would show I was here and they would push me to the next service. Cool. Came back an asshole loudly told me I'd have to wait another two hours. Won't be back. I left went to ALL PRO SMOG. They took me right away. Took 20 min. I highly recommend them!! I had high hopes for this place based on the good reviews, but I ended up leaving without getting the smog check. The staff was friendly and the shop looked well-kept, but the prices were way higher than what I've seen at other places--almost double the competition. On top of that, the wait time was around 45-55 minutes, which was pretty long, especially since the shop was crowded. I understand they're busy, but for the price, I was expecting a faster, more convenient experience. I decided to go elsewhere where I could get the smog done for half the price and without the long wait. Great staff, but unfortunately, the price and wait time just didn't make it worth it for me. Been coming here for about 3 or 4 years now because I moved to Manteca. But last year I paid over $80 for a smog, and this is just a car. Not a truck or SUV. So it was time for my girlfriend to get a Smog and when I told here how much, she said "NO. "I'm taking my car to where I usually go in Sunnyvale". She got the Smog today, I asked her how much, and it was: $43 I think she found a coupon on their website for $10, so let's just say it was $53, and this is for a 2014 Honda Accord. I would say to everyone, just shop around a little. But if you work in the Bay Area, just do it over there. Things seems to be a little overpriced in Manteca at times. I'm not saying this Smog shop here in Manteca is bad, I'm just saying check some prices at other shops before you commit to coming here. read more

They charge over 85 dollars for a smog. I had the same service performed by another place in town for less than 50 dollars. My wife also took her car there and they were very rude to her. After leaving a similar review on Google I was called by the owner who harassed me and very aggressively asked me to remove the review. I have no ill will against this company, I just want customers to know that the price is unfair. read more

Freedom Smog is awesome. Not only are they affordable, but they are super friendly and just super easy to work with. Took my car in late on a Saturday and roughly 20-30 minutes later I was done and they were sending my certificate off to the DMV for my registration. I've recommended them to anyone who has smog needs. They've done nothing but great work. The only gripe could potentially be that they're located next to a car stereo shop, so you're bound to hear some loud (and mostly bad) music while you wait. read more

Walked in a Friday morning for a Smog Star Test. Place is pretty busy on a Friday morning, service advisor stated it would be about an hour since there where 2 others of head of me. Waited at Starbucks across the way, car was done shortly. Unfortunately I did not pass due to a broken Air Tube/Hose, the good thing was the tech showed me & mark exactly where the visual inspection failed so I didn't have to pay a mechanic to find the problem. Free retesting with in 90 days once I get my repairs done. Other places even at $40 just Test your car & you are just a "Pass or Fail" to them & don't take time to show you the problem (if is a visual fail), they just say "take to a mechanic". I was looking at 50% off until they told me Yelp was wrong about their promo and it shouldn't be there. I'm still giving 5 stars bc I've been coming to this place for years and they never disappoint. Freedom Smog - Front desk - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Manteca, California

On March 1st, 2021, I took my Sierra C2500 truck to Freedom Smog for a smog test. The technician's name was Joseph Gutierrez. He came out and told me that the truck passed smog but that he had checked the Turbo online and that it was IHI remanufactured replacement Turbo, not approved for California vehicles. I tried to tell him my truck was bought new and that the Turbo has not been replaced, that it was stock. Because He refused to check further, I had no other choice then to spend more money ($58) & went to A/C Automotive to see if I was wrong. I explained the issue to the technician there, he looked at it and said that it was stock with all original turbo egr, no after market parts. Performed the test and gave me the smog Certificate. I went back to Freedom Smog and asked to speak to Mr. Gutierrez about a refund, he said that he didn't care what the other place saw or did, that I could take it to the Bureau of Automotive Repair & let a referee decide. I did take it to the BAR and on April 1st, 2021 they ruled in my favor. I have called Freedom Smog several times to get the refund I deserve, but as of today May 5th, 2021 I have received nothing. It's really sad that they can get away with charging for something & not have to give a refund you when its found in your favor.
