If they haven't changed their prices within the last 2 years, they are ripping you off. It's time for me to get a smog on one of my vehicles and I'm going to skip this place. They are over charging you. Don't take my work for it, do your re-search. I have two vehicles, a smog was due for one of them a few months ago, I took it to a shop in San Jose this time and it was only $45. Freedom Smog had charged me $89 for this same vehicle a few years ago. If you can't go to the Bay Area and stuck in Manteca, I would call other shops to see what they charge and compare. When they told me $89 I was a shock to hear such a high amount (2024). Again, don't take my word for it, do your re-search. read more

I've been a customer of Freedom Smog at least 20 years if not longer before they changed the name to Freedom Smog. I remember back then Dustin was the only tech/owner with a tiny small cold like cubicle section. Ever since back then I've been going to their shop up to date. In fact, I was there just today and mind you I have 6 vehicles that I always bring to them and have always I mean always happy and satisfied with their services and their professionalism with great customer attitude even when they have new employees. We all just have to be patient and understanding and show them respect and the job they do. I'll continue to go to them as long as the owner Christine stays in business and I certainly hope so. I also had to go to freedom smog in Modesto sometime last year cuz Manteca machine crapped out on them and the gentleman in Modesto was also great. Thank you to both tech Alex & Logan at Manteca location for friendly and professional who took care of me today as usual. To Christine the owner- please praise Alex and Logan all the past and present employees that helped me in the past and know that they are a great asset to your business. I came on first visit 3/31. I checked in at 11:00 and was told it was a two hour wait. He said I could leave and come back later ( two hours) and receipt would show I was here and they would push me to the next service. Cool. Came back an asshole loudly told me I'd have to wait another two hours. Won't be back. I left went to ALL PRO SMOG. They took me right away. Took 20 min. I highly recommend them!! I had high hopes for this place based on the good reviews, but I ended up leaving without getting the smog check. The staff was friendly and the shop looked well-kept, but the prices were way higher than what I've seen at other places--almost double the competition. On top of that, the wait time was around 45-55 minutes, which was pretty long, especially since the shop was crowded. I understand they're busy, but for the price, I was expecting a faster, more convenient experience. I decided to go elsewhere where I could get the smog done for half the price and without the long wait. Great staff, but unfortunately, the price and wait time just didn't make it worth it for me. Answer isn't based on quality as I've not taken my vehicle there. However, then I called then, they quoted me a price of $78.00. Why so much? Ended up going elsewhere and had my vehicle smogged and PASSED for $40.00 less. read more

Been coming here for about 3 or 4 years now because I moved to Manteca. But last year I paid over $80 for a smog, and this is just a car. Not a truck or SUV. So it was time for my girlfriend to get a Smog and when I told here how much, she said "NO. "I'm taking my car to where I usually go in Sunnyvale". She got the Smog today, I asked her how much, and it was: $43 I think she found a coupon on their website for $10, so let's just say it was $53, and this is for a 2014 Honda Accord. I would say to everyone, just shop around a little. But if you work in the Bay Area, just do it over there. Things seems to be a little overpriced in Manteca at times. I'm not saying this Smog shop here in Manteca is bad, I'm just saying check some prices at other shops before you commit to coming here. read more

Walked in for smog and was it was done quickly and on the spot for a fair fee! Gentlemen were professional and polite. They charge over 85 dollars for a smog. I had the same service performed by another place in town for less than 50 dollars. My wife also took her car there and they were very rude to her. After leaving a similar review on Google I was called by the owner who harassed me and very aggressively asked me to remove the review. I have no ill will against this company, I just want customers to know that the price is unfair. read more

Freedom Smog is awesome. Not only are they affordable, but they are super friendly and just super easy to work with. Took my car in late on a Saturday and roughly 20-30 minutes later I was done and they were sending my certificate off to the DMV for my registration. I've recommended them to anyone who has smog needs. They've done nothing but great work. The only gripe could potentially be that they're located next to a car stereo shop, so you're bound to hear some loud (and mostly bad) music while you wait. read more

Walked in a Friday morning for a Smog Star Test. Place is pretty busy on a Friday morning, service advisor stated it would be about an hour since there where 2 others of head of me. Waited at Starbucks across the way, car was done shortly. Unfortunately I did not pass due to a broken Air Tube/Hose, the good thing was the tech showed me & mark exactly where the visual inspection failed so I didn't have to pay a mechanic to find the problem. Free retesting with in 90 days once I get my repairs done. Other places even at $40 just Test your car & you are just a "Pass or Fail" to them & don't take time to show you the problem (if is a visual fail), they just say "take to a mechanic". I was looking at 50% off until they told me Yelp was wrong about their promo and it shouldn't be there. I'm still giving 5 stars bc I've been coming to this place for years and they never disappoint. Came here on a Friday around 5pm and there was no wait I've been here for almost all my smogs and it's a very humbling and honor to be in a room full of history and military paraphernalia, with Veterans Day here how could I not, and not to mention I got a discount, in and out less than 15 mins, service was extremely good. Almost double in price than anyone else I have ever used. When my vehicle was done they made me wait so they could check in 2 other people before they gave me my keys so I could leave.
