I absolutely adore this place. Mylkbar is located in the Harris Teeter Shopping Center. Definitely call for an appointment as they can get busy. I was able to get an appointment the day before! I suggest wearing flip flops or sandals so that your pedi is able to dry thoroughly. Upon entering, you walk into their gorgeous lobby with basket nesting swings, some merchandise, and their fume free selection of nail polish. They have Olive + June, Zoya (my favorite), RMS, Flossgloss, and CND. I went for a Floss Gloss peach/neon orange color. The front desk hostess gave me a glass of rosé, (delish), while I was pampered by my nail technician, Patricia, I think. (I'm bad with names!) It was such a relaxing atmosphere. Their house made sugar scrub is wonderful and you can buy it in the boutique! My favorite thing about the place is the decor. Every corner is worthy of a picture or Instagram moment, especially the gorgeous pink/palm wallpaper. I also loved the pastel vibes throughout the place as well. Worth every penny and I like that you can add tip to the card you use, as most places don't allow that. I will definitely be back when I'm in Charleston! read more

lady who did my nails called it "gel" is was not in fact gel. it was like a soft version of it when i requested the hard type of gel. I was getting my senior photos done that next day and they literally PEELED off. she also made me feel like I was an inconvenience to her. she was rushed even though I had booked an hour she was done in 35 min and rushed me out. it was somewhat clean but I was the only person in here apart from the lady tech lady. it was very expensive and when I called the day after to tell them that my nails came off, they just offered a $20 discount on my next set. they should have offered to redo the whole thing. I was very disappointed and will not go back. when I was checking out, the nail tech also entered in her tip which I didn't realize until I had paid which is VERY unprofessional (gave herself 20 or 25% can't remember exactly which one). anyway do not recommend at all. there are way better places in charleston. read more

Loved how friendly the staff was and the amazing quality of my gel pedicure. Came here with a friend who was visiting me and requested we got our nails done and we ended up coming here! Everyone was so kind and I really liked how they are a toxin free environment and will only do certain services so it doesn't have that strong smell most other nail salons have. The gel pedicure service I got was great and I thought that my nail tech did a great job at being precise and did an excellent job. I like the idea of not using the drills and the healthy aspect of the salon. I spent $45 on a gel manicure. The salon itself is very clean and great Lee decorated. When you were at your table you see the flyer with all the different types of nail Art that they do.When I tried to add a simple nail art at this salon the employee said you have to book those when booking your appointment. I have never had to book a nail art while booking my appointment, you tell the technician normally when you are there. Great colors on my nails but after 48 hours I already have nails that are chipping. I don't think I will be back because I cannot afford a $45 manicure that's not going even last me 48 hours. I wanted to love this place. I've been following them on social media for quite some time and finally made the appointment. Before arriving, I confirmed it would be okay to bring my daughter who is four months old. They reassured me it would be perfectly fine (I see babies in their posts all the time!). When I arrived they had me leave the baby in get seat, which was fine for about twenty minutes and then she got bored/frustrated. My manicurist was not very into kids and I could tell the receptionist didn't really want to handle her. She did pick her to and hold her/carry her around, but it seemed like it was a big inconvenience. I felt like my manicure was rushed. I started after my friend who was there with be and finished before her. I had chrome powder put on, but it is already chipping off. With a $20 upcharge, I'd think it would stick around for a couple, especially with a shellac base and top coat. I also feel my cuticles weren't cleaned up very well. I'm fairly disappointed since I spent a good amount of money and drove to Mt P for the service. The space is adorable and the idea is neat, but I can't see myself returning. The customer service online is great, but the experience I had was nothing to write home about. I'm mostly disppointed because a friend who went with me got a fantastic manicure and had time put into it. read more

As others have noted, the lack of fumes alone is a great selling point for this spa. My friend and I went for pedicures, and as she is currently pregnant, it was important to find a place where she felt comfortable. Online booking was super easy and I received several appointment confirmations, which was helpful. The space isn't very large, but is nicely decorated and parking is plentiful (in the Harris Teeter shopping plaza). Upon arriving, we waited a few minutes to check-in and then were given gel colors to choose from. We were seated quickly and had a really nice pedicure experience. We're both runners and have runner's feet, but our technicians took a lot of care with our feet. I can't recall the name of my friend's technician, but I had Jasmine and both techs were great! They were personable, fun to talk to, and it was apparent that they had a good relationship with each other, too. It's always nice to be in a place where the employees seem to genuinely like and respect each other. Upon completion of our pedis, checkout and payment was quick. It breaks my heart that this amazing crew did not live up to mine or my friends standards for quality. We were the last appointment on a Sunday and felt quite rushed to get out so the girls could clean up and go home as well. During the services the girls were friendly and kind. My girl asked how I like my nail shape and it seemed like she just didn't understand when I said round because the corners of some of my nails were so sharp that I sat in my car trying to fix them just so I wasn't stabbing myself or others on accident. By the end of Monday over half of them were chipped. Maybe it was because I filed them, but overall I just wasn't impressed with the overall outcome. I was thinking about stopping in to have them fixed but honestly was embarrassed that I had ruined so many in a short amount of time. Not worth the amount they charged at all. My friend had a similar experience who got gel polish (usually super thick and almost like a fake nail) two of her nails broke before Wednesday as a result of thin layers of polish. I love the fact that you can book appointments online & rarely is there any wait when you come here. It's a very hip trendy joint with cool modern decor and Teil art all over the walls. The staff are friendly & efficient, doing everything to accommodate the clients specific needs. I had a deluxe pedi today & it was awesome, relaxing and she did a wonderful job. Sadly this place does not do acrylic nails which is fine. They do however do gel on your regular nails. They have a lovely selection of hip nail colours to choose from. I loved the fact that I was only on there for 45 min and got a great pedi. It's a little pricey but worth it for a special occasion or to take out of town guests for a real treat. I was treated to a birthday pedicure here and it didn't disappoint! The store in front is adorable and it certainly doesn't hurt that you're greeted with rosé. My pedicure was fantastic and I love that the salon is eco-friendly. I managed to chip one of my nails later that night by kicking it into something before it was dry and they promptly scheduled me to fix the nail I messed up. My best friend and I tried this place yesterday for the first time. Coming from Atlanta and being used to the top shelf service I have always received from higher end nail salons, I expected the same of this "new hot spot" unfortunately, this was not the case. The manager -Jen?, I believe, seemed as though we were more of an inconvenience than a pleasure to serve. We did have to cancel an appointment due to an unfortunate circumstance (our other girlfriend couldn't make it due to her son being sick). But No where was it stated in the reservation details that it would be a charge if you need to cancel. After being told we would be charged 50% of the service charge we decided to add on manicures to help alleviate the cost of having this unforeseen circumstance occur. Jen did agree they could do the manicures for us instead of just charging for the cancelled appointment. BUT Then came the next issue- we chose the same polish color and there was only one bottle. Have you ever heard such a treacherous thing?! Apparently they have not and insisted that one of us change our color choice. So we accommodated her request. The technicians were lovely. Great conversation and even made us laugh! So this review is not of their character. This is a fair warning to the deplorable behavior that was directed towards us from the "face" of the salon. At $100 a person for a regular pedicure and gel nails- which I have no problem paying when i enjoy my experience- I DO NOT recommend Mylk to anyone in the Charleston area. So, if you are looking forward to your girl time, time out of the House, a little pampering, or maybe even just some good treat yourself time- I recommend you try MIMOSA NAIL in Town Center. read more

Today was my first experience at Mylkbar and I couldn't of asked for more! My nail technician, Britannie, did such a great job and was super easy to talk to. I had a polish change pedicure and a gel manicure. The salon is so clean and cute, it's precious. It's not a super busy hectic nail salon, at least not on Monday. The salon doesn't smell like harsh chemicals or nail polishes. I love Mylkbars aesthetic and goal as a salon, they hit the mark! I'll be back soon! Great selection of colors too! I would go to this place for the decor alone! I love how it is designed- from the wallpaper to the flower wall to all of the furnishings and art. It makes for the perfect elevated experience for a special occasion or when you just want to enjoy a treat. I took my friend who was pregnant for her bday and she loved it! They have some some local products for sale, too, so I love that it doesn't feel like an impersonal salon. Their custom color Lina Rosa earrings can only be found here and they are stunning handmade pieces! I think the gel mani or a pedi is about $5 more than you will pay at other places, but the polish is better for your nails with fewer chemicals. I hope they eventually add regular toe polish changes, too, because that is what I usually get instead of a full mani or pedi. If you're doing nail art all of the options are really awesome, but the glitter fade is probably my favorite. read more

The decor is beautiful, but the nail service was disappointing. I had Shondra as my nail tech for a pedicure and, although she was very nice she did not seem very experienced. She had to redo about half the gel nails because she got the polish on my skin and I had to tell her those would easily peel off. I also had to ask her to straighten a few nails and one is still visibly crooked. A few are still on the skin and I suspect they will peel up soon, making this pedicure a waste of money. She had to fix so many nails that I was in there an extra amount of time, not sure how long, but it was annoying for it to take that long. Also the light for the gel pedicure kept falling all over the place and it just didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. Shondra was very nice about fixing them and asked me to check to make sure they were all fine, and I did check but didn't notice a few are still on my skin and crooked until getting home. Plus I had been in there so long at that point that my behind was getting sore from sitting there. I just wanted to get done. My point is she should have done it right the first time. Since she was running behind she gave me a super quick massage, which was also disappointing, especially when I look over to see other clients getting longer massages. Her massage was much shorter than any other salon I've been to. She also kept focusing more on her conversation with another tech. At the start she was looking over her shoulder a lot to converse a lot with another worker. I wish she had focused more on what she was doing and maybe her work would have been better. read more

L O V E this place! All of my friends had expressed how much they enjoyed getting their nails done here - so I gave it a shot too! I was not disappointed! The staff was very welcoming and the nail tech did an awesome job (they also have tons of cute nail art options)!! Aside from manis & pedis, they have an awesome LED light that has helped me diminish acne spots! After each treatment, my skin literally glows! My daughter, daughter-in-law and I went to Mylkbar for manicures the day before my sons wedding on 11/9/19. They both got gel; I got a regular manicure. We enjoyed our visit and were happy with our nails, however, a month after our manicures all 3 of us started experiencing extreme nail breakage.....so strange. My daughter-in-laws nails have finally return to normal. My daughter and mine are still a disaster....so thin and frail. I have never had anything like this happen before. It is upsetting as I paid for all of our services and it was A LOT of money. My nails are not showing any signs of improvement as of today. My best friend and I tried to do walk-in appointments on a Friday and the receptionist told us they were unfortunately booked up for the day. We were only in town for the weekend, so we asked if there was Saturday availability. She said yes and booked us each an appointment for a gel manicure Saturday morning. We arrived right on time for our appointments. I was with Abbey, and my friend was with Jasmine. Both were professional and did a great job. At one point my friend was escorted to the sink to use a sugar scrub, and there was a major leak occurring. A woman, who I assume was the owner was there during our appointment and seemed super unprofessional handling that issue. A plumber came in during our visit and her communications with him were a little loud and distracting. I overheard her saying their sink issues have been caused by the coconut oil in the sugar scrub building up and solidifying in the sink over time. She was asking him how frequently they can utilize drain clearing products. Sounds silly to me that they wouldn't just consider reformulating their sugar scrub instead to solve the issue. Whoever was working at the front desk kept skipping songs on their playlist every few seconds and it got rather annoying. My technician even asked why she was doing that and she said that she was "busy creating a playlist." I feel like that should be done during off-hours or when the business is closed. You should be creating a relaxing environment for your patrons, not skipping songs every few seconds. Before starting our appointments, there also seemed to be some confusion. My friend and I each requested nail art from their menus, and we were unaware that time should have been booked into our appointments. When booking, we were not asked if we wanted any additional services/nail art, so that was kind of frustrating. The woman who I assume to be the owner was also loudly nagging some of the employees about organizing nail-art brushes and other items. She kept asking, "Do you all use these?" It became very clear that she doesn't have much knowledge about the nail business/nail art and relies on her employees to be knowledgeable instead. It came off as super unprofessional that she was nagging them and complaining about things being unorganized while so many patrons were present, rather than discreetly discussing things with them privately at another time. Overall my friend and I enjoyed our manicures but I think certain employees could put in more effort to create a relaxing environment, especially given their expensive prices. EDIT: After the patronizing and condescending response, I have decided to downgrade my 4-star review to a 1-star review. Just a couple pointers... If you aren't good at handling constructive criticism, then maybe don't bother reading your reviews. I thought I was fair by giving a 4-star review. But your lack of professionalism both inside and outside your business speaks volumes. I've never in my life seen an employee, let alone OWNER, of any business get so defensive. Please learn to carry yourself with a little more class, and treat your patrons and clientele with a little more respect. This visit will be both my first and last, and I'll be sure to let friends in the area know not to waste their time with your business. And also as a note to anyone still considering visiting this establishment, I distinctly overheard a conversation between the owner and the plumber asking how frequently they would be able to use drain-clearing chemicals (rather than simply omitting the coconut oil from their sugar scrub recipe, which is clearly the cause of the problem). Why offer non-toxic treatments, and then use draino to clear your sinks? Very odd. But what do I know? Perhaps I'm just being too quick to judge! Have a great day! read more

I was a little disappointed in my experience here. My two girlfriends and I came in for pedis and manis. I felt the one woman was being slightly obnoxious and rude during our services. She didn't even clean up my friends toes. Her toes are smudged, her nails are chipped (after less than 24 hours) and my toes are completely chipped because no top coat was applied. I expected more because of the beautiful aesthetic of the Instagram and how pretty it is inside. The owner introduced herself to me and my friend immediately and gave us the run-down of their unique salon and what sets them apart from a typical nail salon (cleaner, more eco-friendly products). Each of our nail artists were so friendly and we got along very well. My favorite things: -Obviously the people (Brittany did my nails) -There were absolutely no toxic smells -So clean! I was so excited to try this place! I talked it up to two of my best friends and convinced them to try it out with me, even though it's more expensive for a typically pedicure. I made appts for all 3 of us for Friday morning. That morning on friend was not able to make it bc her son was sick...I called as soon as I found out to see what we could do. They told me sorry it was going to be a 50% fee (which I don't remember seeing on the website when I booked). So I asked if I can add on a manicure in place of her pedicure...my other friend did the same. The ladies who did our services were very nice but the quality of the mani and pedi weren't great. We were also very confused why they switched people for our pedi and mani?? Overall the pricing was not on par with the quality of customer service that was received by the manager.
