Excellent experience with Katie! I've been seeing her for a while, and we're working on getting my brows thicker. I am a victim of 90's/early 00's ultra thin brows and over plucking so she's had her work cut out. We started by getting the shape and color to where I want it (for what I currently have). Then we started doing henna dying to try and help stimulate the hair growth wile still achieving the color I want. Now, I'm finally to a point where we can laminate them to help make them appear more full. I'll be alternating henna and lamination with an added brow serum to keep my progress moving forward! Yelpers, I was blown away. In fact, this is the best combination of ambience, skill and service I've experienced in a long time. I love the bright, clean modern decor. Though there are lots of brow, related cosmetics and skin health products for sale, I did not feel pressured to make a purchase. The front desk staff is friendly and efficient making check-in/check-out a breeze. (Yes, appointments can be made on line.) Rickelle quickly understood my needs (over plucked, over waxed, frankly, tired brows) and her skill level exceeded my expectations. I initially stopped in to purchase some sugar scrub. My usual waxing place discontinued selling scrubs and I was on the hunt for another good quality one. The studio is sleek and modern with a grey and orange theme. There's a product wall by the register. During this visit, I began asking the reception about eyebrow waxing. I have been getting them threaded for years but my go-to lady is out of the country. I had been contemplating getting my eyebrows waxed for a week but my skin is super sensitive. The manager happened to be there during this conversation and she stepped in to answer my questions. She was super knowledgeable and provided all the info I needed. I decided I would give it a try. First time clients receive 50% off their first service. I ended up calling back the next day and scheduling an appointment for the following day. The young lady who answered the phone remembered me, which made me feel nice. When I arrived for the appointment, my cerologist, Shelby, came out and introduced herself while I was filling out the initial paperwork. Before she started, she asked several questions about what I wanted so we could be on the same page. Once she was done, she made sure I was satisfied with them. She had me thoroughly check them and didn't rush me. Overall, it was a good experience. I plan on coming back for a second brow appointment. So disappointed! First when I called to schedule my appt i was not asked or told how long I should go without shaving before booking an appt. second instead of the aesthetician saying we should reschedule BEFORE getting started she waited till one leg was almost complete in telling I should have waited another week. My legs and bikini area are broke out in horrible bumbs. I don't normally have this type of reaction with waxing or shaving so this is strange. Also she ran out of time and could not finish my Brazilian. Told me to leave it and return in 4wks. NOPE. Won't be back. Also her cleanup was none, when I got home the inside of leggings have wax all over them. :( read more

Five stars for this place! I have been looking for a new esthetician to do my brows and this place did not disappoint. I'm very particular about my brows due to having sensitive skin. The business only does waxing. And they do it well. They use a special wax and don't use strips. This is the only place I have been that I have not had redness and peeling. I will be back! After visiting Waxing the City in the Whole Foods shopping center three times before I write this review, it can confidently be said this is the first time a franchise-business has met my expectations for personal grooming. On the first visit, they currently have a deal where you get a 50% discount on one service - nice! For my second visit (prior to Christmas), I was able to 'spin the wheel' and received $10 off a service - Merry Christmas to me! Not a bad deal for the first two trips. What Waxing the City does for me is a monthly eyebrow grooming that includes waxing, a little tweezing, and tinting (vegetable dye). My ceroligist on visits 2 and 3 is personable and fast, and I hope she keeps working here. I am pleased to say she listens and will shape the eyebrows as requested, which is sometimes hard to find whenever you don't want pencil thin brows. The price is competitive for our area, too. I will continue booking my next appointment at check-out because the service is worth the money paid. read more

I have been getting my legs waxed by Rickelle since WTC opened in Feb. I couldnt be happier with the experience and service I have received from her and the whole staff from check-in to check-out!!! Its nice to see companies taking pride in their staff, which is probably why all the ladies look so happy like they want to be at work but they also take pride in their clients. They have enough time to explain the service and do a thorough consultation so nothing is a guess between the waxer and me the client! I will never go anywhere else again!!!! So I got a free waxing from the Charleston women's show. I was pretty excited because I had so much fun talking to the women at the show and all the reviews were awesome. I was a walk in, and the lady at the front desk was really nice and helpful. My cerologist was nice but for an eye brow and lip wax I was in there for an hour and a half. She was so so so chatty. What am I going to do say, be quiet I just want to relax? No I have to be polite but an hour and a half because your talking is so so much time. She also did not listen to me and ask me anything about my skin type or if I was sensitive to anything. She just made note of what I wrote as my allergies. I said whoa that cleanser is strong and asked her to take a break because I couldn't breath and she said it's fine and "fanned" me off, then continued using it. It was like having someone put rubbing alcohol in your nose. I asked her not to use the wax setting makeup because its hard to get out of my brows and she went and did it anyways. When I left I looked absolutely insane, there was just so much brow make up. It would have been nice to see what my bows looked like with out the caked on mess. When I finally got home and took the makeup off, the wax wasn't bad but I don't know if this place is worth the stress. Also lip waxing is different from the price on the website. 15 dollars to get your lip waxed is really high. And she still hasn't emailed me my receipt. read more

I came here with some crazy eyebrows that needed serious taming. Great salon atmosphere, friendly front desk, clean room and equipment. My cerologist was more than competent and my eyebrows have never looked better, but I debate going back because of the conversation. I had just moved here, and the cerologist had nothing but negative things to say about the area, including ''this is the last place on earth I'd pick to live''. It was very off-putting and I still haven't decided if it's worth chancing another visit. That's the only factor holding me back from five stars. read more
