The Brand: On the way to lunch with a friend today I, walked right by the Free People store on Main Street in Santa Monica & knew I would stop by on the way back. In fact, I wanted to see if they had a dress I had recently purchased in a different color. I absolutely love Free People and have so many of their cute fitted/bodycon, cutout & floaty dresses. I love the beach/bohemian/glamorous style! Customer Service: Unfortunately, the girls at the register continued chatting to each other & did not even say hello as I continued to walk and look throughout the store. I even stood by the dresses looking at both colors that I was interested in, including their beautiful Summer Sparks black fringe handbag for quite some time, which was near the register. One sweet girl finally came up to me as I was leaving the store and asked if I needed help. I politely smiled & said no thank you and I left the store. Other Locations: I'll continue shopping at Free People at other locations, including by 3rd Street Promenade at Santa Monica Place! The girls there are wildly friendly and so much fun! I had the worst free people experience at this store today. 1) I was the only person in the store and no one greeted when I walked in, 2) the girls were talking about how anti-covid policies they are while I was shopping (a turn off), and 3) the girl at the register asked IF I WAS EXPECTING when I checked out. Mind you I'm not pregnant and a size 8, so yes I have some curves but how rude and inappropriate to ASK OUT OF THE BLUE. Will not be coming to the store unless it's to return things from other stores thanks to this experience. read more

This Free People is lovely. I wish more of the staff wore their optional masks still since covid is surging, but I've never had a problem here. The women that frequent this store and live in the neighborhood who act like this is the kind of boutique where they can be waited on hand and foot are the actual problem. I have lived nearby for over a decade and I'm here often enough that I see the staff mistreated by other locals more often than not. The girls here are attentive, helpful, and they remember my name. This store is literally the most warm and welcoming FP I have ever been to. Alice, the GM, cultivates such a welcoming and educational environment. She consistently goes above and beyond for her guests, including myself. I live in the area and usually just buy online, however I actually enjoy walking into this store and hearing about the newest drops of clothing. I came in today and Alice, Sam, Lily and Ciara were just amazing. I really like coming here, these girls are amazing. There Is nothing like shopping somewhere that wants you to be there and where they are genuinely excited to help you cultivate your wardrobe. They make me love FP even more. I just read the comments and cannot agree with the lack of customer service. The first time I decided to walk into this store I picked up a slew of items and was asked if I need a dressing room like most FP and Anthro store. Everything was very standard except that these girls are actually so genuinely so helpful and go out of their way to really be there for your needs. Keep it up! I usually get happy walking into a FP store. This store is small in comparison to other FP's in the LA area. Almost like the size of a closet, small. Yep. They don't stock enough of the merchandise for me to seek out this location, but I'd definitely drop by when in the neighborhood. This location is horrible. I was the only one in the store and they never acknowledged me. Instead the two girls stood together gossiping while I was carrying around clothes. I helped myself to the dressing room and decided even if I liked anything, I'd just buy it online rather than give these girls any credit. When I left, they still didn't say anything. I was legitimately ignored during the whole shopping experience. Go to Reformation next door or go to the Free People at Century City! The girls there are much lovelier. read more

I love Free People! I love everything about it and this shop is so charming. I have always had great experience with the employees and the clothing is exactly my style. A little expensive sometimes but everything I've ever bought has lasted a good long time so to me the prices are worth it. :) If you find something and the quality doesn't suit your standards then just move on; no need to trash it. :) I'm picky about quality and I'd say it's mostly good. :) One thing: I wish the shops were bigger! I never expected them to be so small. But the store in Topanga is quite large so I'm more inclined to head there if I want a bigger selection! read more

But I arrived at 6:40 this evening and the door was closed and locked. I knocked, saw an associate look my way then walk into the back. I am one of the nicest, friendliest people I know! And the girls in this location are so rude and self-righteous I felt like I was being punked. They lack professionalism for sure, and in my opinion they shouldn't have a job in which they work with the people. I exchanged a blouse with the tags attached and a receipt the young girl who might be the manager, rudely asked, "whats wrong with it?" I politely said, "nothing is wrong with it, I just care for the way it fits." She said, "umm, ok." Made the exchange, of course I spent another $100 on top of what i spent. I took my shopping bag and said, "have an awesome weekend." The girl looked at her register and said, "Yup." with a slight eye roll!!!!!!! Are you kidding me???? How dare you!!!!!!!!!!!! A couple months ago I was given a gift from this store, which didn't fit right. I asked one of the girls working there about the return policy and she asked if it had the tags on still (which it does) and if I had the receipt (which I said I would try to get). She told me that as long as I bring it back with the tags on and have the receipt they would give me store credit for the price paid for the item. She also told me that because it was after 30 days, it was no longer eligible for a refund. I went in today to return the item and was told a very different story. The girl working today said that because it was after 30 days they would only give me a store credit for the current sale price. The price of the item on my receipt is $199 and it is now on sale for $39. I explained what I had been told previously and she just said she didn't know who I had spoken to. And that was the end of it. Of note, the return policy on the back of the receipt says original method of payment will be refunded within 30 days and store credit will be issued after 30 days, when accompanied by receipt. There is no mention of the refund being only the value of the current sale price. read more

I I absolutely love this clothing brand! But unfortunately the customer service at this location is horrendous!... I visited this location on October 10 2019 to purchase some new fall items. I had asked a sales associate for a product that I had seen online, The sales associate was Irritated that she had to assist a customer ...I then asked for a dressing room, she said yeah they're over there. Free people is lucky that they have such cute product because even with the poor customer service I still purchase items, if you got talented people to represent your company this location could be even more profitable than it is currently right now!.. I'll be shopping online for now and avoid the attitude of disgruntled employees. read more

The level of service that you recieve at this location is unparallel to any Free People store! The space is small, but cozy and packed with the best of what Free People has to offer. They carry most sizes and can locate any catalouge item that they do not carry in the store. Everytime I'm on Main Street I make sure to stop into this sotre to see what's new. Great addition to the block! read more

Visited this location for the very first time today . Let me start by saying I am a Free People fanatic !! I'll start with the fact that I bought absolutely nothing which is highly unusual for me . The selection was mediocre at best . The store is very small but I didn't see one thing from the new catalog they also had clothing hung behind different items of clothing which I thought was tacky .. Whoever does the styling for that store needs to be replaced sorry :( Now I'll go in on the customer service . My husband and I walked in we were not greeted or even looked at for that matter ! I think there were 4 girls working and not one ever approached to ask if we needed help or anything . I did notice they were busy ... Busy gossiping that is ! The girl at the register was going on and on about how she was through with her boyfriend and how she was going to unfollow him on instagram because she was sick of all the selfies he was taking of himself !! We were looking around for about 20 min and I don't think they ever stopped talking . It was annoying and rude to say the least ! I think I'll stick to shopping at the Free People in Valencia ca were the girls actually do their job ! Everyone there is friendly and helpful and the store always looks absolutely amazing !! I am disappointed I was treated like a shoplifter at this store last night. Granted, I had a bag with me but every time I got out of the dressing room they rushed in to get the clothes even when I said I was buying one. The first SA was helpful but the woman who rang me up looked at me like I was on America's Most Wanted. Not a fun shopping experience. So I do like a lot of what free people has to offer even though some of the stuff look really cheap especially considering the price tag. But seriously, whats up with the service in these stores? In century city the associate didn't even notice me, so I walked out. In Santa Monica Place they did greet me but that was about it. Went to Main St location to try stuff on, I got a fitting room but nobody checked in on me. When I went to the register, the associates were busy talking to each other and when i asked for advice I guess I got it, but with a "whatever" kinda attitude. Lame. i came here on a sunday afternoon. it wasn't that busy, but i didn't get the service i would usually get at other fp stores. no one offered to start a room for me. i didn't even get a greet. they basically ignored me, and when i asked one of the girls for a size that was not available, she didn't even offer to order it for me like wtf? i really wanted to buy a shirt, but after all those i really didn't want to ask if they could order it for me. as for the store itself, yes it's very small with limited selection. not going there anymore. the one in brentwood is way better. read more
