I'm a huge FreePeople fan. I buy most of my FP clothes online but today I decided to give my local store a visit on the off chance that they had a better selection and better customer service than my previous visit. The selection was much better than last visit so that was fantastic. I found a great outfit and went to try it on. There were two girls working at the counter, a tall blond and a short redhead, neither of them said a word to me and kept having their personal convo. I looked at jewelry on the cashier counter & they still failed to acknowledge my presence! I went to the dressing room & had to redress, go back onto the store floor to get a smaller size & they're still talking to each other . Zero customer service & support, borderline rude & dismissive. I purchased the outfit but am really bummed the FreePeople employees were so not into their jobs, which made my shopping experience a negative one. Maybe hire employees who represent the FreePeople brand better? read more

Every time I go into the SB location not one employee even looks at me or says hello, asks if I need help, or says bye when I leave. I went in ready to spend money today and after nobody acknowledged me or my family we left. I used to work for the brand so it is disappointing to be given such snobby, terrible service. read more

Each FP store has its own vibe it seems; this one has a lot of country cowgirl vibe it seems, but still loads of beautiful items. Bring your credit card or a wad of cash cuz you gonna need it.... more than half my closet is FP, I admit I have an addition to their flowy, bohemian style, but it is one the pricey side.... Located on attractive State Street, there are many stores and restaurants to hop into before or after you check out FP. read more

My sister bought me a sweater for Christmas, I didn't like the way it fitted. Went to take it back two days after Christmas I didn't have a receipt. It was a present, I didn't want my sister to know I was going to exchange it with out a receipt they wouldn't let me exchange it for something else. I would feel really bad if I had to ask for a receipt, you would think with Christmas gifts they would realize very few people have a receipt, I will never shop in this store again read more

I'm surprised by all the bad reviews. The sales staff are always friendly and attentive. However the selection is severely lacking. It's a tiny store and I rarely find anything I want. I went on the Yelp site to get directions and was shocked by what people said. I listened to it but I have to make my own decisions. I went in there and was promptly greeted, helped by more than one person, and all of my questions were answered. I was able to make a quick and painless return and everything in the store was absolutely fine. I will be back. Their sister store is also a couple doors down and you can decide which store better serves your taste. read more

I am a huge fan of Free People clothing. I like the uniqueness of their clothing, and I've worn the brand for years. It's affordable. I am absolutely livid with the workers at the SB store! The first time I visited was about a year ago. I felt as if the salesperson was following me, however I ignored her. I reluctantly went in last week with my daughter. I told her I didn't generally go to this store because I believe they racially profile. As we walked in, two gIrls immediately came from the back. One spoke, while the other idiot worker plants herself in a position to watch us. She pretended to straighten out the rack that had absolutely nothing wrong with it. Where we moved, she moved. Made no bones about not being discreet. What is so irritating is that I probably make triple their salaries, and have no issues paying for items. Second, my daughter didn't have a purse, and thIrd, my purse couldn't even fit more than the wallet I was carrying. The worst free people ever! Rudest staff I've ever encountered. Free people is my favorite clothing brand and it is a shame the employees here are so insolent. I work for a very prestige company in retail and the thought of not greeting guests as they walk in my store? Unthinkable. All you have to say is hello or welcome in. Such a bad/ugly look for these girls to be so inattentive and lacking mannerism. I wanted to buy a jacket and a couple tops but then I would've been talking to myself at check out so I walked out instead. I think it's time for this manager and the company to clean some house or maybe hire a new hiring director actually. read more

Free People is owned by Urban Outfitters (UO also owns Anthro) and sells more Bohemian/Indie styled apparel. This doesn't describe my look, so I was surprised to see a cute romper I wanted to buy in the window. Claire assisted me immediately to start a dressing room. She also helped me select some additional pieces of clothing, such as a black bodysuit to wear under the romper, since it's sheer and a little short. Honestly I was being such a pain while in the store and I probably sounded really bratty. I tire quickly from clothes shopping when I have to think and keep trying things on... But Claire was patient beyond belief! Wow! She was focusing on helping me for at least 15 minutes. I bought several items from Claire, and realized the next day that I had accidentally purchased an incorrect item; the romper I gave Claire to check out was one that was missing a button. I had brought the wrong one to her. This leads to the reason why Claire really shines. She actually noticed minutes after I left the shop that I had purchased the wrong romper, so she put on hold the correct one for me! I learned this through my conversation with her on the phone when I called to inform her, which really wasn't informing since she had already noticed the mistake herself. When I returned another day to exchange my missing-button-romper for the correct one, Claire wasn't there, but two other girls were. They basically said Claire is the best sales associate at the store. She deserves five stars. This is a good Free People store. Another interesting thing about it is that the romper I bought is an "online only" article of clothing. How and why were they carrying it then? I don't know, but I'm not complaining. read more

My daughter ordered a dress close to her Wedding day and was relying on this dress. Really cool store with some really nice stuff. Not many changing rooms, so my wife had to wait in line, and many people after her had to wait in a queue to try on clothes. Nice products, great to see things that are made in the US. Kinda pricey though, but I guess what do you expect when you want your US workers to have a livable wage making the clothes you are wearing! They got to have money to bring food to the table too! Ugh. I hope someone in upper management reads this. I went in to free people and saw a $200 dress on a mannequin that I wanted to try on (that I was sure I would buy for my honeymoon). I was COMPLETELY ignored by all staff here. They were all talking to friends, no one made eye contact, offered to help, nothing. I walked in circles multiple times trying to find the dress on the hangers but couldn't and no one was willing to help. Finally I got fed up of waiting for a sales girl to acknowledge me so I tried to approach one only to find each jabbing to a girlfriend. RIDICULOUS. I have never, ever left a review for a clothing store but this was beyond absurd. Seriously upper management if you are reading this...fire your staff! They are costing your company millions in revenue. Horrible horrible will never go back just by how I was treated today. read more

I love free people--this has nothing to do with the brand but the store in SB. I have been in several times and am rarely treated like a customer. All the employees are talking to each other or having extended conversations with friends who are in the store. Today, however, set me off. I had a return and during the entire transaction NO ONE spoke to me. The girl who returned mine just grabbed the bag out of my hand, did not ask why I was returning or how I was doing, handed me the cash, no thank you, nothing. Kat is awesome she was so great! She made me feel so comfortable and found me shirts that she thought I would like she was great. She genuinely wanted me to find something that worked for me and I could totally feel that. Her coworker was so awesome too and said nothing but good things about Kat. They have a cute selection of clothes (albeit pricey). One of the sales people was really nice. The other one was not polite, so she gets one star off for overcharging me, and one star off for not apologizing. It wouldn't kill you to say "sorry for the inconvenience" or something of that sort. read more
