Fredy's Custom Tailoring - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Los Angeles, California

5 Stars -- A Miracle Worker! I've been procrastinating leaving this review for a while, but Fredy deserves every word of it -- so here I am now finally writing it. I got married on June 14, 2025, and dreamed of having a Mexican-themed wedding with a custom handmade dress tailored in Mexico. I found the perfect dress at a store here in LA, but the sample was so tiny I couldn't even try it on. Still, the salesperson assured me they could order my size and have it ready before the wedding. A month later, I received the worst news -- the designer in Mexico was too overworked and couldn't make my dress. I was devastated. Determined to find a solution, I bought the tiny sample dress and searched for a tailor who could somehow make it fit me. That's when I found Fredy on Yelp. I wasn't sure what to expect, but from the moment I met him, I felt hopeful. He said he could do it but told me I needed to find matching fabric for the extra panels. On my very first search, I found the fabric and brought it straight to him. He took my measurements, I gave him my wedding date, and I left the dress in his hands. Not even a week later, Fredy called me -- the dress was ready for the first fitting! He had already added the panels. After the second fitting, I was beyond happy. My dress fit perfectly. The whole process took about a week and a half, and the price was far more affordable than I expected. Thanks to Fredy, I got to marry my charro in the dress of my dreams. He is incredibly experienced, skilled, and dedicated. His work deserves more appreciation, so if you visit him, please leave him a good tip -- he truly earns it. Thank you, Fredy, for everything. You saved my wedding day. read more

Fredy is the goat. A gentleman who will never mess up your clothing and will tell you if something just cannot be done. I've had no complaints. He altered some dresses for me that required going inside and restitching some of the dress from the inside out -- he did it perfectly in two-three days. read more

You can tell that Fredy takes pride in his work. He did a wonderful job on some items I brought him to hem. I would definitely go back and recommend him to a friend. read more

I still owe Fredy 15 bucks. I brought in four distinctly different assignments, and Fredy had novel ideas for all of them. 1. Simply stitch closed the bottom of a bag for my mom. No big deal, easy sewing machine stuff. 2. Patch up four holes in a deteriorating pair of 15-year-old shorts. Again, fairly standard fair. 3. Replace outright the zipper on a hoodie because the insertion pin on the original had fallen off. Other tailors declined to even take this job. 4. Fix the armpit restrictiveness on a jacket that otherwise fit perfectly but was for some reason designed for, I dunno, a T-rex? Fredy patched up the shorts ultra-thoroughly, not only put a new zipper on the sweatshirt but removed the original which a lot of alterations places won't do, and added an underarm contrast gusset on the jacket which now offers freedom of movement and adds a racing stripe that I feel is pretty sharp. He not only did all this for far less money than I would have been quoted elsewhere--assuming they'd even agree to do the work--he threw in my mom's bag for free. But be aware that, at present, he only accepts cash. Which is why I still owe him $15; I didn't have the full amount on me in dollars and he let me leave with my clothes anyway. read more

He's great! Very nice, professional, and charges reasonable prices. I get shirts hemmed here for half the price of other places. He's very quick too! Highly recommend coming here. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND Great price! Quality work. Fast. Professional. I originally called around to get a quote and other places were expensive for just hemming one pair of jeans. I called Fredy on a SATURDAY and got a voice mail but I didn't leave a message. Wthin minutes he returned my missed call. Most places don't even bother to call back. He gave me a great price to hem 6 pair of jeans. And I didn't have to make an appointment and was able to see him right away. I was able to pick up all my 6 jeans in 2 days. The quality of work and matching stitches were perefect. He was accommodating, professional and followed up on his promises of the price he quoted me and the pick up days. They do have a changing room and a table to step on for fitting. read more

Fredy is so kind and highly skilled! I won't go anywhere else for tailoring in LA! 11/10 recommend :) (He has resized my emt work pants perfectly and they hold up in the field for the last year. Beautifully hemmed curtains etc ) read more

Fredy is an awesome tailor! I ordered a dress for an event, but the delivery got delayed and I ended up with two days to get it altered. Fredy totally came through. He fixed the hemline, took the dress in, and had it ready for pickup 24 hours later. Super friendly, fair prices, and high quality of work. So happy we found him! His place is sort of tough to find at first, but if you head into the parking lot behind the building, go up the stairs, and straight down the hallway you'll find him no problem. read more

Freddy is the best I had an expensive Nike suitcase that zipper and band broke that I needed that afternoon to fly out for business and I called him up in the morning and he was able to get it fixed for me by mid afternoon. He's so affordable! read more

I went in at 6:45 thinking they closed at 8, but the sign I saw as I entered said it closed at 7. I met the man Fredy himself, and though I was stopping in just before they closed, he was very welcoming and friendly. I asked if he could shorten a pair of cargo pants that I got in Japan before Friday (it was Monday) and he said he'd have em done on Wednesday. He called me Tuesday at noon and told me my pants were all finished! Only $20 for me, which was a great deal in my opinion. Especially in LA! So happy he some of my favorite pants fit even better. Fast, friendly, inexpensive. read more

TLDR: Fredy is awesome, take your stuff to him! I had to get repairs done on a couple things as well as wanted to get something very custom made. His turnaround time was mind-blowing, the quality of work was phenomenal as well! I was referred to Fredy's by a colleague of mine and am so happy with the quality of work and customer service that I received. I was hoping to find someone who could make me a wedding gown in the same style as my grandmother's dress. I brought Jose her dress and some fabric that I liked and he created a gown just like it for me. He was able to do so without a pattern and without altering her original dress in any way. He worked very fast, accommodated my schedule, had amazing attention to detail. As a little girl I always dreamed of looking like my grandma did on her wedding day when I was married. Thanks to Jose I came pretty darn close! read more

Let me tell you about a dilemma I have been having. I have this pair of jeans that I love dearly and unfortunately after I lost a bit of weight, they stopped fitting me and gosh darn I was extremely upset. I tried DIY fixes to get the jeans to fit me, but they looked super unflattering. So I gave in and Yelped this place, and oh my lord I'm so glad I did because my jeans fit so perfect now and I didn't have to pay an arm and leg to get the waist taken in. Fredy took off a whole 3 inches from the waist and you literally can't tell where he dissected the jeans. I actually had to ask him. He was an absolute sweetheart and absolutely passionate about his craft, he lit up showing me his latest projects. With everything going on, he fixed up my jeans in an hour and I'm so excited to start rocking my jeans without worrying about them falling off my body. Definitely putting down my DIY scissors and letting Fredy take them far away from me. read more

Fredy does great work, quickly, and at a fair price. Been going to him for a while now, and have always been happy. His space is a little tricky to find, on the second floor of a building where you have to go around the back to get up into, but give him a call and he can help you. read more

I took my Ted Baker dress here to be altered (needed a shortened hemline) and he did an amazing job, on such short notice. The quality of work is very good and his pricing is very reasonable compared to taking it to a dry cleaner. I was doubtful at first when I parked, building looked a little run down...but don't judge a book by its cover read more

Fredy is absolutely phenomenal. I could not believe how fast he had my dress ready (ONE DAY!) and how flawless his work was. He also did it for a price that was also unbelievably good. Without a doubt, I will be going to Fredy for all my tailoring needs again and again and again. read more
