Horrible service , I had this company supposedly fix a dryer, didn't even have tools I had to supply them as a consumer that is not my responsibility, the back of my dryer was damaged, yes I said the F word but I guess that's ok to not show up for apt made by manufacturer THREE YEARS LATER, I was accused of using fake name and number , no. Apt was set up by MAYTAG employee under the warranty , this company is so unprofessional I wouldn't even give one star , it's the only way to write a review . we were given a time frame of 8-4. I called at 7:30 am to inquire a more specific time. I was told 12-3 and technician would call with a more precise time. The technician did NOT call. I guess he came but We didn't even hear him knock on our door. ( third malfunctioning microwave in 8 weeks and it's my birthday ). I was upset when I called Fred's Appliance. The lady on the phone told me that I was rude and refused to schedule another service Call. Horrible customer service -given a time 9-12, Reached out @ 11am for a more specific time and was told they are delayed and don't have an ETA for me. Took a 1/2 day off work - now it's 1pm and no one is here. We have a five-year-old Maytag clothes dryer which began making noises some months ago. Texted Fred's Appliance on a Monday and got a near-immediate response, setting an appointment for Wednesday of that same week. The service person arrived at 8 AM on the dot and immediately went to work, diagnosed the problem, replaced the failed parts, and reassembled the dryer IN UNDER AN HOUR. Bill, the serviceman, was friendly and polite and frankly did very good work. It was NOT inexpensive to get the repair done, but what is these days? Our washer stopped working. I was told we would pay a $100 service fee for a diagnosis. Not more than 5min after arrival the guy was all Proud of himself telling us we were lucky because we could have this fixed for $400. That's $100 for service call And another $400 to fix on another day because he did not have the part with him. This is an 8yr old washer that looks like it's in perfect condition. Did not get this repaired since a new one is not much more. I understand charging for a diagnosis but it should be based on time involved. 5min does not equal $100. And fixable for another $400 is just being robbed! Should have asked the average price to fix and if service fee is applied to the fixing charge of the appliance. My Whirlpool refrigerator stopped cooling and the soonest availability they had was 5 days later. It was frustrating to wait this long, and I had to toss out a ton of food, but the technician was awesome - Gabriel was the tech that fixed my refrigerator, and he provided me with updates throughout the repair. After a very rude serviceman arrived (Brian) he diagnosed problem and 20 minutes later said 237$. Service call is 98. When I texted Freds they said "this is standard across the country". I have a kitchenaide refrigerator that stopped cooling on Thursday 11/12 and was under warranty from kitchenaide. I called Fred's appliance and they told me they could come out 11/25. I called kitchenaide several times to get my apppimtmetvt sooner and Fred's refused to accommodate my situation. Kitchenaide agreed to have them out on 11/18 and they came out. They diagnosed the problem and had parts send to my house 2 days later but will not come out to fix until 11/30!!!! It has been 2 weeks with no refrigerator. The technician Was very nice but after he left I noticed he dented my refrigerator door. So I have a non working dented refrigerator thanks to Fred's. I would not recommend them they are not reliable nor are they in any way form trying to accommodate. read more

Rude customer service. Questionable invoicing techniques. Argumentative when asked to clean up the invoice. They added an estimate for future work on the invoice (nowhere did it say estimate) therefore my $105 bill said $1,109. And to top it off, they didn't fix my problem. read more

Fred's is great ! Prompt service, reasonable and very professional. I love that they'll send a picture of the tech before he/she arrives, and you can also track them during the 2-hour window of arrival. Plus, they're very reasonable (considering the tech should be paid well!). I had both a washer and dryer repaired, cost about $625 or so (with half being for parts). He came on Tuesday, ordered parts (which arrived at the house), then he came back on Friday and did the repair. I'll definitely call them for service again (this was the second time). Fredsappliance.com was sent out to repair a kitchen aid frig under warranty. The initial customer service and reminder protocol was fantastic! I received a phone call to say my service man was on his way! No sitting around for a 4 hour window. My service man stated his name, Paul and he asked if he should remove his shoes, and greeted my dogs. My parts were ordered right in my house with overnight service. An appt was made for the following week and Paul reviewed my job thoroughly!definitely top notch service! read more

Fred's is a KitchenAid approved repair service. Brian was our tech and he was efficient, courteous, and respectful our our home. The office communication was top notch - which is always one of my pet peeves if a service business is not on top of it's communication. Not sure how we'd cope these days without Fred's. Scheduling is either online or phone. They come on time with professional, no-nonsense techs. Labor rates and overall pricing are competitive. NEVER call Fred's Appliance for any repairs in your house! They don't back their parts or labor unless you paid for it. If it's under warranty, I still wouldn't use them because they put parts in that don't last. My washing machine was fixed in May (under warranty) and everything they put in is broke again already!! I know because I just had it looked at by someone else!! For $95, they'll come back out and check it to see what's wrong! Apparently they must not use NEW parts!! I no longer have a warranty so I would have to pay for the EXACT work and parts to be done again out of pocket!!! My machine is only 5 years old!! So Fred's Appliance sucks!! Today will be the third time out to fix our dryer. Was not fixed the first two times. Used to take an hour for our clothes to get tossed around and not dried. Now it takes two hours for them to be tossed around and still not dry. They ask when I want an appointment and I say mornings work best, so what do they do? Schedule for the late afternoon. I called and spoke with Jessica, who yelled at me and was so rude to me because I told her that I just spoke with her the week before about morning working best. She was not happy with that and I even asked to speak with her boss and she said she IS the office manager (go figure). Someone who is so rude and nasty to customers is the one who is the complaint department. Think twice before having Fred's come service for you. I have a product under warranty unfortunately and this is the repair place that they contract with...Such a shame. read more

I knew exactly what was wrong with my fridge- the freezer plug was frozen up. I called kitchen aid and ordered the part. We were not able to pull the fridge out and replace it ourselves- called Freds appliance- scheduled an appointment. Knew I was going to pay the $95 service call. BUT then they charged me another $129 to put that plug on. I was at work. The guy watched my 75 year old husband get on his knees to clean the grates underneath and behind the fridge. There was no diagnostic done...no added work just pull it out and screw one plug off and another plug in then push the fridge back. These people think they have a lock on repairs. I for one will never call them again. Definitely take advantage of people especially the elderly. read more

These people are amazing. Our whole home A/C went bad yesterday and with the high temps, all the AC repair places are booked a few days out. Fred's doesn't do AC repair (at least at the time of this writing) but I was able to diagnose the issue down to a bad run capacitor. The only problem I had was it was so rusted you couldn't tell what the specs were for it so I could get a replacement. I called a number of the local repair places hoping I could get the model number for the capacitor, but all refused to help me. I gave Fred's a call figuring they are a home town business, and they have always treated me and my family well with our service calls for our appliances. When I got to the place, Adam helped me and went out of his way to try and find the best fit for my unit. He had some of his tech's look at the old capacitor, and they made an educated decision on what I needed. He assured me that it was sized so that it wouldn't hurt my unit and if it was the wrong part, I could bring it back and we would find a better fit. After I came home, I hooked the new capacitor up and BAZINGA it worked! Fred's has me a lifetime customer for the above and beyond service that they provide their customers. They could have easily said "sorry, we can't help you" but they went above and beyond and helped us out. John read more

I made an appointment to repair a commercial dryer that I purchased 6 months ago. Of course the warranty was almost worthless since it only covered parts. The service call cost $89.95, which I thought was very high compared to others that I have used in the past. I had no choice for warranty work other than Fred's. I was also charged $86 for labor that took all of 15 minutes. Wow, $188.27 to replace a simple switch. On the other hand, the technician was on time and was courteous. read more

Very friendly and efficient as previous review we also had deposit for home warranty however that is not repair service fault the company requires the deposit and failed to tell the homeowner. I know this because I read a review about the same issue and my company also failed to tell me but I asked and they told me yes I needed to pay a 100 dollar deposit. That's how they keep you from calling for minor issues . Previous reviewer needs to give the warranty holder the bad review. Never again. We had service done to our dishwasher a few months ago. The technician pulled it out of the space without unscrewing it from the cabinets, causing the clips to break and the unit to then have nothing to anchor it. He did the repair, shoved the dishwasher back in and left, leaving two plastic plugs on the floor that were supposed to go over the screw holes where he was supposed to screw the unit back in. We thought the dishwasher rocked because the feet needed to be adjusted, which we did. But it wasn't right. It wants to fall out of the space every time we open the door! We finally had our contractor who had originally installed the dishwasher come in, he took a look and told us what had happened. We called Fred's and asked them to come out and fix this. After consultation with the "Vice-President of the company" they decided that they would come out but that we would have to pay for a service call and labor because the installation was out of warranty. That may be true, but a business that made a mistake and cares about keeping its customers would eat the service call fee to make them happy. The technician's incompetence caused this problem, and they should fix it if asked to do so--regardless of the time that went by. There should be no statute of limitations on admitting to your error and making it right. That's just good business practice. We will NOT be using Fred's again. read more

I was pleased with the technician that ran some diagnostics on our dishwasher. Reassured us that it is working fine. Ordered some parts that were missing. Initial installment was done by a remodel contractor and they must have lost clips that came with the dishwasher and failed to inform us...in turn used paper clips to hold kick plate in place. We were referred to Fred's Appliances for repairs to our 2 year old refrigerator, which is still under warranty. They scheduled us for the next day and our serviceman was prompt and courteous. He discovered that we had a defective ice maker and ordered it on the spot along with a replacement drawer for the refrigerator. He also scheduled his return call for installation within 48 hours. The replacement products arrived within 24 hours - WOW. So far, we are very pleased with the services of this company. I will send another review when the work is completed. read more

This review is regarding pricing only... I was charged $261.00 to have my washer repaired. After reviewing the pricing, I found that I was being charged $50 for a part that I could buy OEM on eBay for $15.00, plus the service call of $89, labor of $104.00, and tax. In talking with the representative at Fred's, I was told if I cancelled the service I would still be charged $89 for the service call. Since, I needed the washer repaired, I went ahead with the appointment. In the interim, I spoke with a friend who told me about a company she uses who only charges $49 for a service call ... she had her pump fixed on her washer, and was only charged $104.00 for labor and service repair (not including the part since that was still under warranty). Definitely much better than $193.00 I was charged just for Fred's Appliance to show up ($89) along with an excessive labor charge ($104) for only a 1/2 hour of labor time. Now, I must say that I have used Fred's Appliance for many years for other appliances that are under third party service contract and absolutely love the service they have provided. I will continue to request them for the appliances under contract, but will never use them again for appliances that I have to pay out of pocket. I suggest you check with friends, family, local papers, homeadvisor.com, and/or angieslist.com to see if you can find better, more competitive, lower pricing. I don't know about you, but I do not make that much money to pay $261 for a part that costs only $15 on eBay. I would have been satisfied with a bill of $140 and felt that would have been fair ... but not $261 and being told it was fair market value by their customer service rep and vice president. read more

OK so stay AWAY from Fred's appliance. Two tries to fix my Expensive LG front load washer and it's worse than it was before Fred's came. The first time they came they didn't fix it correctly. So two weeks ago they came back and said they needed parts. Last Sat they came back and they have ordered the wrong parts so they have to reorder the correct parts. Before he came on Saturday I could at least do washes by jiggling the switch. Now it is completely dead. Called to get him back today to at least get it back to the way it was and I was told NO. They gave me an attitude and said if I didn't like it to call the Warranty underwriters. So now I have 5 guests from Va, no clean towels and no work clothes. Terrible experience. Called them out to fix my refrigerator. It was leaking water and not cooling or freezing well. They fixed the leaking but not the cooling issue. When I called they came back again but the same repairman was not happy to be there. He then informed me that I should vacuum the refrigerator, and it might work better. I asked him how and he pointed down there, but would not do it. Needless to say that did not work. When I called and asked for a different tech they were not happy and said they would have to charge a service call. Do not use them. read more

The tech came out yesterday at the agreed time. Found the problem and fixed it. This was covered under the factory warranty. The problem I encountered was that from the time I called the manufacturer to repair date was 12 days, I am glad my frig was just making noise and not out of service totally. I called Fred's because they had not contacted me, when I called one day before my appt. (I was not assigned a time by the manufacturer service center, just the service company name and date of service), When I called Fred's appliance they said they had called ten days ago, and left a message, I replied that I check the answering machine daily and there was no recognizable message received, or I would have responded. This could have been caused by the fact that the manufacturer or Fred's misspelled my last name so it was not recognizable. I had wanted a morning appt. but by the time I received the "Automated" time scheduling call (press 1 for 1-4pm, press 2 to reschedule) it was too late, all morning appts. were taken. I was not happy with the scheduling process from the manufacturer (whirlpool/amana) or Fred's. I plan to write to both to let them know. read more

Good fast service and a courteous technician. My washer wasn't spinning and made horrible grinding noises. The repair was done in 20 minutes and the whole service call was only 30 minutes. They arrived on time and gave me the promised phone call when they were on their way - a courtesy a lot of companies seem to forget to do these days even when the promise to do so. In all honesty I CANNOT recommend them - wish I had another option but they are the company that our warranty makes us use. They've been out 4x to fix our washer and today after running only 4 loads - it's broken AGAIN. This has been going on 6 wks. You would think if you describe the problem over the phone they would at least attempt to bring parts with them on the first trip. I swear they make their $$$'s by the # of times they come to your house. So the first time they came - they assessed it , had to order parts and returned in a week, next time same thing. Also (due to no fault of their own, weather, they had to postpone our appt 2x). When it wasn't fixed, they came out for a 2nd assessment - same routine, order parts, wait another week. Out yesterday and after only 4 loads - it's down for the count AGAIN! I would avoid using them, if I were you. read more
