I'd give the actual product 5 stars - works like a charm. BUT - everything else is scammy with the company. In order to get a warranty on a machine that you paid over 10k for, you have to agree to a maintenance plan. That makes some sense, but when you buy a car, you get the warranty. It's unfortunate that they aren't clear on all the hoops you have to jump through to get what I think should be included. The maintenance largely consists of an oil change. Fine, but they want a lot of money for a guy to be there for 20 minutes and change the oil. Again to the car analogy - you pay like $80-$100 for an oil change/check up on a 40K machine. They want $250 yearly (at least) for a 10k machine. Then there's the app - the device is bought and paid for and on your wifi, but if you want the app on your phone - additional charge. The maintenance visits, extra charge. Help during a storm even with the agreement, extra charge. They obviously have a business model that tries to milk you for as much as possible after the sale. I understand that's what a lot of business do, got to keep the revenue flowing - but doesn't mean I have to like it. The installation process takes 6-8 months (at least) from the start to actual installation. Installation itself went smoothly, and like I said, the product itself is well worth it and recommended with the crappy utility service in Ohio. I just wish the company didn't try to nickle and dime the hell out of the customers. I'm sure that Generac probably has something to do with it, but still not pleasant and frustrating dealing with all that. read more
