Came in on Saturday around 3pm. Walked in and everyone starred at myself and friends walking in. I ordered a whiskey ginger from the rude bartender lady. I took one sip and didn't like it and asked for another one with Honey Jack Daniel's whiskey. The bartender (who was dressed in an outfit resembling super mario) had an attitude stating she didn't have my whiskey of choice. I insured her that she did and was starring at it. After 2 mins of back and forth, she made my drink but insisted on me paying for the other drink that I did not like. I refused to pay for the drink but my friend picked up the tab for me. read more

Went here on a Sunday night and it has that friendly neighborhood vibe. The people were so down to earth, I'm originally from California so they gave me the history of the neighborhood. The atmosphere in the bar is definitely romantic. The lighting is Dim, the bar has a great selection and the booths were really comfortable. Went here last night to hear a friend play. As I was reflecting on my last few outings there I realized that every time I have made it to Freddy's it was always to hear a friend's band play. What a great place that enables local musicians to play live. But to add to the joy of seeing friends play there, the crazy TV montages add, well and sometimes distract to the show. There was a moment when Matt was singing a completely morbid song...and the tv screen was showing people get shot and dying endlessly...or when he was singing one of his rare love ballads...to the image of two hot dogs having sex. Definitely a solid bar all-around. The overall vibe is good. The customers and bartenders were all friendly and the prices were fair. I went in on a Saturday night and it was a bit crowded but it wasn't over crowded. I would suggest another night of the week if you want something more low key. I know I'm an outlier for not loving Freddy's. Getting a drink and getting food always takes forever. The back room is teeny-tiny. There's just always something off. While I have fond memories of the original Freddy's and somehow keep ending up at the new one, I avoid it when I can. read more

okay it's taken me a little time to come to grips with the fact that the original freddy's is no longer. i miss my local and it's no longer as convenient to pop by for a guiness. i had to pay homage and trek to south slope finally. first off, the backroom is no longer the back room rather the front room. i made the mistake of heading back immediately. there's a small outdoor space, which closes at 11p. the selection of beers remain the same and the prices too. the staff is just as chill and laid back as before. love that they remember my usual too, only after ordering the guiness twice. it was cozy on a friday night, with southern rock played live in the back room. the space isn't as roomy as the former location's. the bar itself isn't as divey as the original on dean and 6th, but they do still have the chains on the bar which is a nice touch. also, they still show the tripped out experimental films on one screen and sports on the other. rip og freddy's. your reincarnation makes you proud. read more

This place is the only Bar that server Cider on Tap!!! now how can you not check this place out. I haven't tried their food, but the beer and atmosphere is really nice. We went there to grab ciders, then we left to eat but couldn't find any other bar as good as Freddys, so we came back and drank there the rest of the night! read more

Great dive bar! The mini lights on the ceiling are magnets. You'll occasionally see people take them down and throw them back up. The drinks are cheap, the music is loud, they have an outdoor patio, there's plenty of seats and there's a speakeasy section decorated with local art for those that want to chat without yelling. read more

Pretty weird place. Not a bad weird, just weird. Everyone was friendly and I like how they answer their phone. It's definitely a dive bar. Super eclectic decor. You put your food order in to the kitchen and its CASH ONLY. My boyfriend got a cheeseburger and fries that was pretty good and I got tater tots with cheese sauce and bacon that were exactly how you'd expect them to be. We were in and out pretty quickly, just really hungry really late and they serve food until 2. Quick and convenient. read more

went there for happy hour on a friday and the place was DEAD. I figured 6:00 on a Friday would be busy -- but not for freddy's. however, it began to make sense to me: the place was dark and dingy, smelled like old stale beer and looked like we were in a shipwreck that had been sitting at the bottom of the ocean for 50 years, then brought on land and someone stuck a bar in it. the food ordering system was confusing. you have to go into the kitchen to order? never seen that before. no counter, no real system. you talk directly to the cook and he gives you your food, but you pay at the front. Isn't that what a server is supposed to do? We stayed for 1 drink and went next door to south -- much, much better experience and very friendly staff. read more

This place is great. First time I ever wrote a review that is how moved I am by its awesomeness. I have been going here for years. All of their bartenders rock. Good cheap drinks, though I will admit I haven't had any of their cocktails though I can't imagine them doing anything wrong at this point. (Honestly hard for me to move beyond $3 PBR's...$2 for happy hour). Wait I did have their Bloody Mary's at some point...tasty. Unpretentious vibe. Super tasty food...their tater tots are like crack. But the thing I like best about Freddy's is it's commitment to being a neighborhood bar that supports it's community in a variety of ways. It will accommodate just about any event in it's back space...and at times it's front room. I have had many friends perform...sometimes for their first time at Freddy's. I have seen some real good performances, and not so great ones...but it is a comfortable atmosphere to just come out and do your thing which is what makes it such a great community gathering space. I also had the fortune to be randomly assigned to a softball team that just so happened to have Freddy's as a sponsor. They were super accommodating allowing us to have a league event there, hooking us up with drink specials, and helping us out with all the logistics of setting up equipment for our DJ's both in the planning stages and at the day of the event. I can't believe Freddy's wasn't on here! This is a Brooklyn institution that is not long for this world, since it's within the footprint of the Atlantic Yards project. Always filled with interesting characters, it also has a back room that plays host to bands, hootenannies, operatic recitals, spelling bees, karaoke, crafts night, (insert your idea here). And if your companion is stuck in line for one of the two bathrooms you can always be riveted by the late-night TV montages playing on the monitors. read more

Great time on a recent Sunday. Not crowded, so much as lively. Got a booth right away. Kitchen window service means you don't have to wait around for service. Veggie burger ($10), chicken wings ($8 for 6 wings), and sausage sandwich (~$10) were all on point. Well cooked. Big, big portions. Had some $4 draft beers, and $2 PBR. Nice beer selection. Free music began at 4pm, and they have bands and comedy acts coming through all the time. A great neighborhood spot that I will frequent. read more

When I walked into this bar I immediately noticed the décor of the venue. It was a mish-mosh of random things that some how all came together. It was like a drunken Martha Stewart/Pee Wee Herman Collaboration. There was a television in a fish tank, old horror movie posters, an actual fish tank with frogs in it and a television that showed extremely odd videos including a bear fighting a dog. I thought the venue was interesting to say the least. Beers were decently priced with a selection that ranged from cans to nicer drafts. I think I can say confidently that it was a place where if I lived in the area I would most likely frequent. There was also live music in the next room going on all night. read more

I've only been here once but was very happy i did. The place is big and you will always find a place to sit unlike the bar next door to it. They have a decent selection of beers and cocktails but what make this place stand out for me is their food. Their Fries a la Freddy are out of this world! Prices are average.
