Gone downhill over the last decade. EXPENSIVE paid nearly 50 bucks to have 3 pairs of pants hemmed. That was the price I paid for all three. One employee was speaking Spanish to the other asking to charge less then the other women removed the invoice with tag saying no they were going to charge the higher price. Didn't know I spoke Spanish. Uniform patch started peeling off after one use, same with name tag. read more

My husband purchased a pair of coveralls at Wal-Mart (I know, I know) and not more than a month later the zipper split. We hated to return them because we already knew there was no chance of getting an exchange since they were sold out. But, my husband works outdoors and really needed this type of outerwear. We had seen the sign for Fred the Tailor on several occasions (we live practically around the corner) and decided to talk to Fred to see if these faulty Wal-Mart coveralls could be salvaged. Fred's is a small, Mom & Pop type place for sure. Fred is a darling and tried several ways to repair the zipper...but to no avail. Now, he could have easily said we absolutely needed to completely replace the zipper and charged us accordingly (usually this costs $30 or more at most tailor shops). But, nope, Fred asked us to give him a little while to work on it. We received a courteous phone call from Fred and, when we went back to his shop, saw that he had worked on the zipper and replaced one small portion of it...and, he only charged us 10 bucks! I would definitely recommend Fred the Tailor for courteous, prompt and affordable tailoring needs! Thanks Fred! read more

Being 5'0", I *live* at the tailors. As an uptown resident, I made Unique Tailor (Mockingbird) my go-to tailor...until I discovered Fred's. Not only is their work better quality, but you don't have the ridiculous line of Unique...and bonus: they're more competitively priced than Unique!!! Met Fred 3 years ago decent work bad customer service and pricey has since retired. Have used Fred 3 times drop my jackets off for alteration and twice i had to wait there because my items which I dropped off a day before were not ready this last time 12/23 I dropped a jacket off she told me it was going to be 27$ the next day I returned the jacket was not the way I wanted it i had to wait 30 minutes and she charges me 10$ Extra for a total of 37 dollars for one item. read more

I've been going to get my clothes tailored here for years and I love it, I'm a tall guy but apparently clothes manufacturers assume all tall people get wider as they get taller. So I take all my new shirts here to get fitted to my body and I've had nothing but good experiences. I was in a bind and Fred and the sweet ol ladies there took care of me. I bought a suit for a wedding and the other place I took it to forgot to even do it after 2 weeks! If I could give 0 stars, I would. Fred the tailor may have been in business for a long time, but do not make the mistake of trusting him with any challenging jobs; I will not utilize his business ever again. He managed to ruin a pair of suit pants for me badly enough that I have to take them to another tailor before I can use the pants again! Fred gave me $20 back for the trouble, but correcting problems caused by him will probably cost me at least $50. Fred isn't really cheap either despite his location in south Irving. My recommendation is; save your money and trouble and go to a quality tailor right from the start. read more

I love this place! Friday after work (5:30PM), I brought in 5 pairs of pants to be hemmed. I needed one pair done by Saturday, but the rest could just be done by Tuesday. When I dropped by that Saturday at noon, all five pairs of my pants were ready! They are very sweet and helpful, the hemming was done perfectly, and the cost was VERY reasonable.
