Definitely one of the better locations I have been to! Motorized carts right there, easy to find and accessible - seriously, sometimes it is such a mess. I was also impressed as to the produce quality and availability. Extra treat was scoring some amazing soft and cute Halloween socks for $3!! Seriously, some of their sales are just crazy good!' This store is trapped in an endless store reset. Can't find anything, no logical organization in the grocery aisles, and even the staff (if you can find one to help) doesn't know where stuff is. The grocery aisles were narrowed and way too long. If you get in one and someone gets behind you or comes the other way, you're trapped. It's a miserable and confusing place to shop. read more

The floor workers, particularly in clothing were quite helpful. The management is beyond awful. DO NOT WORK FOR THEM. They will consistently cheat you out of overtime hour pay rate, while pressuring you to work a lot of hours around the clock. Fred Meyer has a reputation for doing this in general. They are dismissive of workers comp incidents that happen at work. After taking advantage of you for years, if they catch wind of you moving to a better job, they will then sick their disgraceful gestapo-like security team / loss prevention on you, that from other reviews, profiles and harasses people on a racial and socio economic basis, and try to fine you with ridiculous trumped up fines over technicalities before firing you. I had no idea what a Fred Meyer was until this visit in Newberg. I thought it was the actor who played Herman Munster or the guy from Car 54, Where are You? But nope, it's a fabulous store which has groceries, clothing, and other stuff as well. Sure Target and Walmart do the same thing, but this was done a little differently and had a different feel than the bright light On this trip, we were looking for things like bottled water, breakfast bars, and the like for stocking up our rental unit for a week of hiking, driving, and exploring Oregon. We found that and then some. I wish we were staying longer as I would have easily filled up my cart with everything from additional snacks to fresh food to cool clothing and attire. If I must say, it kinda had a military commissary vibe to it with electronics and other items useful to the community, as the nearest Walmart/Target was a bit of a ways away. I'd say it's probably the biggest store in Newberg, but I left my measuring tape at home. It's not the Judge from My Cousin Vinny, it's a store that has a little bit of everything, all of the time. read more

Customer service is key with me andFred Meyer employees went far and beyond accommodating my husband and I. We had called and asked for them to check stock and found that they did not carry the items we were looking for. They didn't stop there! The young lady took it upon herself to call other Fred Meyer locations and found the items in Tualatin. She had the Tualatin Fred Meyer's staff hold the items for my husband to pick up after work. These details may seem simple to some, but these days customer service in many stores does not exist. The young lady was happy to help, she was happy to do her job, she was joyful, she was grateful, she was patient and she was also very wise! She told me her name a couple times and I am upset with myself that I did not remember her name. I was just blown away at her common sense, her decency, and her willingness to provide impeccable customer service. read more

I called the store on 10/17/2019 and asked for the Home Department. Mark answered, and mentioned that he was helping another customer in front of him. He asked if I could just hold for a second? No problem, all the while I could hear him helping the person. It didn't take very long and he was back on the line with me. I asked if they had a specific item, and color? He went ahead and headed to that area to check. He mentioned colors and price points, and said that they have some choices when I was ready to come in. I asked if he would mind taking the item I chose to the Customer Service Department since I was short on time, and wasn't too familiar with the store layout? This Fred Meyers in Newberg is always clean and well stocked. Personnel have always been very helpful and customer supportive. I had ordered a patio dining set from another store and was not contacted until almost pick up time that the item was not avaialble. The Newberg manager of this store ensured the table set was held for me and corrected pricing issues/miscommunications from the previous store. The store manager personally worked with me to finalize the purchase and his time and support made this purchase a great relief and joy. Number one, move the fish away from the bakery! Terrible design plan. Second, you no longer offer plastic bags. Fine, but put handles on your paper bags! The reusable bags you offer are too small and I'm not buying more of them to accomplish what other store bags can with one! Could not carry everything home on foot because of it. Popped in here to grab a bra or two for my daughter during a softball tournament. She needed to try them on and was met by a very rude associate, Wanda. She didn't offer to open the fitting rooms for us, even though she was less than 5 feet away from them. When we asked, she said someone will be right there in a very rude tone. She then continued putting put backs away for a few minutes and then came over and nastily said you can only have five items. My daughter counted out her bras and there were five exactly. Wanda huffed and opened the door. Very rude customer service. I'm assuming since we are camping and we look less than high class and were treated as such. read more

DO NOT EVER get gas at the Fred Meyer in Newberg Oregon. My husband was getting gas there on 3.6.23 when their gas pump malfunctioned and started spewing gas all over the inside and outside of my jeep. He alerted the attendant by honking his horn but nobody came to help. Finally he got out of the jeep himself to turn the gas off before the situation got even more out of control. In doing so he slipped in the gas dousing himself and his clothing in gasoline. Finally an attendant showed up and asked what's going on? Larry's like I'll tell you what's going on you've got a class one flammable liquid spewing everywhere and you did nothing about it! The attendant replied "we're short staffed and we can't come running every time somebody honk their horn" Larry just pointed at the signs posted everywhere stating "don't leave vehicle unattended while fueling" Larry than asked for something to clean himself off with as well as the jeep because there was gas everywhere. The attendant told him they don't have anything to clean it up with. How could a gas attendant not have an emergency spill kit when they are dispensing a class one flammable liquid? Isn't this why we can't pump our own gas in Oregon? Because we're not properly trained to dispense this dangerous liquid? What a joke! To make matters worse we had to pay for the gas, they gave him an $8 refund stating that should cover the "extra" gas. When I got home I called Fred Meyer and spoke to Mr. Volk and Mr. Iverson, who both made us feel like we had done something wrong they offered no help whatsoever. Finally the store manager called me and said they would turn the situation over to their insurance company Sedgwick. I got a voicemail from Carissa 3 days later, and haven't been able to get a hold of her sense. It's been over two weeks now and nobody has returned my phone calls or my emails! I'm out over $1000 in clothing, missed work, jeep cleaning fees and a diagnostic check done on my jeep to make sure permanent damage wasn't done! Fred Meyer can't even pick up the Flippin phone to apologize or reimburse a client when they are clearly at fault for having being negligent when it comes to safety and ensuring their pumps are functioning properly, not to mention training their attendants on what to do in an emergency situation when a class 1 flammable liquid is spewing everywhere. I've since turned my complaint over to the Better Business Bureau as well as had to file a claim through my insurance in hopes that they will go after Fred Meyer since Fred Meyer did absolutely nothing to correct the situation even they were clearly at fault. Guess this explains why they have an F rating on the Better Business Bureau website, seems I'm not the only one who's vehicle has been doused in gas, maybe I should reach out to some of these patrons to see about getting a class action lawsuit going, maybe then Fred Meyer would be a little more apt to keep there gas pumps in the correct working conditions, and train their attendants properly. Or maybe Oregonians will finally be able to pump their own gas! Until we are though, heed my advice and stay far far away from Newberg Fred Meyer gas! read more

Fred Meyer is a Kroger owned grocery and dry goods store. I prefer them to places like WalMart just because the server is better and the selection is usually good. As part of shopping at Fred Meyer they offer a fuel points program for discounts on gas as their gas station. To get points you can complete a survey (among other things). I was in a day that they were out of an item that we wanted so I completed the survey and noted that. To my shock and surprise I received an e-mail from the assistant store manager, a David Baidenmann. He offered a solution and some information I had asked for. The reason I was so surprised I think is because we lack good customer service in many places. When you receive it, like I did from the manager, it seems unusual and out of place. For a grocery store I have been happy here. Unlike WalMart they respect your time with enough open checkstands so you don't have a long wait. The customer service at the deli and pharmacy has also been very good. read more

Of particular note for folks traveling through wine country: This place has the best and largest selection of wines in all of wine country! There are loads of local wines and an exceptional selection of imports, including some pretty geeky selections, which are great to see. Other than Bi-Mart, Fred Meyer is it if you're in Newberg and need something that Safeway or Thriftway doesn't sell. This store was recently remodeled and now has a gas station with decent hours. The pluses to this store are that the pharmacy is extremely efficient (even with Oregon State Beavers working behind the pharmacy counter) and I don't have too many issues finding things. Another plus is that the electronics selection is pretty comprehensive, and you can find the essentials and then some. Oh, the store has Coke Freestyle too - one of two places in Newberg where you can find one. The thing that drives me nuts, however, is that the grocery has somewhat of an odd layout, and is not consistent with other Freddy's layouts. Consistency is something that many crave, yet Freddy's / Kroger fail to deliver. Something that I can find at another Fred Meyer store (cereal cups) are nowhere to be found. Same goes with several other items. You don't see this kind of inconsistency with Safeway, Walmart or Target. read more

The fact that this pharmacy exist, and my insurance forces me to use fred Myers pharmacy's I have to go..worst one in newberg! Different world from the one in Tualatin store... it, or you would think they'd be tuned copacetic.. worst staff. Most unhelpful staff including the pharmacist... most recently a back and forth over the phone about a simple issue, Turing into a big issue? He repeats the same generic line 6 or 7 times..... I keep telling the guy over and over.. finally hang up call Tualatin store... problem solved.. only lucky as I had someone to drive me. Epilepsy often takes that minimal right away. Beware of Fred Meyer's home delivery! I ordered an item for my elderly dad. Fred Meyer never notified me that it was out of stock or that they were sending me a SUBSTITUTE item. But that's what happened. When I notified Fred Meyer that we could not use the substitute item whatsoever, they said they would not refund the $9.95 delivery charge or the tip; they would only give me an in-store credit for the item itself. So beware, so matter what you order online, Fred Meyers has the right to send you whatever they want to send you instead of what you paid for, and there's not a thing you can do about it. read more

This Fred Meyer is doing a poor job of enforcing customers to wear masks- yesterday I saw three men not wearing masks- one of whom was behind me in line and the cashier said nothing to him. They now do not have anyone checking at the door to see if people are wearing a mask. You would think they would care about others and their employees as well. This is for the GAS Station in particular. The store itself is what you'd expect from a Fred Meyer. I'm new to Oregon and having someone else fill my tank is still a little disconcerting. I usually get out and open the tank myself and stand there while they fill it. This trip the guy seemed annoyed that I was out of my car. I asked him to fill it with mid-grade, he repeated my request, I give him my card and figured I'd get back in the car. After a bit I looked at the pump and noticed the green lights on the low octane grade pump were on. I got out but by the time I did the pump shut off. Now, I know its not like they put diesel in my gas car, or vice versa, but when it's your job to put gas in a car, the least you could do is pay attention and do it right. When I brought it to their attention I was told it was too bad and if I had a complaint to take it into the store. More for the bad attitude than the wrong gas, I did go into the store - you'd have thought I was a martian. Nobody quite knew what to do. They called the home goods manager (apparently gas is in her department), she said it was ashamed that I got lead-free if that's not what I wanted .... doh. She would call a company in Hillsboro to come out and pump the gas out of my car, it would take about 2 hours. After a bit, and much confusion, I just asked for my money back - which they gave me, but the process was amazingly complex. I will surely go back, but won't hesitate to stand out and watch what they are doing. Nuts if they don't like it. I expect more form a Kroger store. read more

I've never felt compelled to share a review on a grocery store; but that was before I walked into this store. This is the ultimate 'grocery' store that reminds me of a hybrid of Target, Home Depot, Sprouts from back home + a Growler station AND a huge selection of bottled beers. The list goes on! Every single employee that I've encountered has greeted me with a smile and has been genuinely friendly. This is definitely the sign of a happy place to work, which makes the shopping experience that much more enjoyable. I neglected to mention that they have a great selection of electronic goods as well, and found myself without headphones before a flight. I was able to grab a pair that were on sale and the exact brand that I wanted. I can't say enough good things about this store, and I'm SO glad to officially live near it now. read more

I appreciate the Rewards and Fuel Point Programs, and the benefits of (mostly) one- stop shopping. I wish the store layout was not so confusing. Even more, I wish Fred Meyer was more progressive and carried less products with high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils. I tried to find croutons today without high fructose corn syrup. No deal. Same with graham crackers and HFCS. Hydrogenated oils are still everywhere. Lots of processed foods. Bakery products have additives as well. I asked. Cheese prices seem very high. When a sales associate inside the Fred Meyer Store asks a customer to scan their fuel points card, I have hear a few customers say, "No, I don't see any benefit"......but for me it works and I save quite a bit of money on gas. It also works for me because I can go in the morning before the rush. My husband on the other hand can only get gas after work and he has always found himself in a long line and says for that reason he will not go there....... He can write his own review. Yes the lines later in the day can be quite long and I have found myself in those lines. There is not quite way in and out at that time. I go for the good deal with my fuel points. The employees are always prompt and courteous. I have seen them run from car to car to keep up. No slacking here. Not that I have seen. I remember when this store opened, it was so new, and so fresh. My friend's mom gave us a ride in so that we could attend the grand opening where they were giving away prizes and cakes and pies. Every few minutes they would announce that it was time and if you were standing on big boxes painted on the ground, you won something special. As a child of... 10? the store was massive, stretching on in rows upon rows of food, appliances, and electronics. Eventually, as we tired of aimlessly haunting the aisles, we decided to buy some bulk food (the only food there that came in quantities small enough for our few dollars to buy) and selected some fig newtons and trail mix. We brought them to the checkout, and politely waited to be rung up, probably the first time I'd ever been through the line myself and paid with my own money. Luckily, even though we were a few cents "over" on our bulk food purchases, the checker smiled a warm smile, took a few pennies out of the tray, and waved us through. This was the beginning of Fred Meyer as one of my favorite places. Nowadays, you'll find an excellent selection of groceries, dry goods, clothing and electronics at very reasonable prices. read more

I have been filling my prescription here for almost 2 years and it has been one horrific encounter after another. They fail to answer my question correctly when I ask if my doctor has called in my prescription to be filled over the weekend. If they say no I can call the doctor during office hours. So I call. Dr is super confused. Saying "I called it in, it's confirmed right here". Ok. Next issue. U call and ask did Dr call it in? They say "yes, I can fill it tomorrow "(referring to Saturday). I ask on Saturday for them to fill it. They say "ok, it will be ready soon. We are very busy so it might take some extra time". They didn't fill it so I come in to find out what at is going on. They don't have my medication in stocks. They know I need it since I have been getting it monthly for 2 years, same meds, sane dose, same day. They ghosted me from the moment they knew until I walked in the door. Then they told me I should have called, which I did. It must be a new prescription. It's not. That I am lying to them about calling. Which I'm not and will happily show my records of calling every month to ensure a smooth refil. I call like that because if I don't take my meds on time IT COULD KILL ME. But the pharmacist insists it is my fault. read more

I arrived at the bottle/can return area at 9:40am. 2 of 4 machines working. No one there but me and a Fred Meyer employee. I started to return cans and he told me to stop and asked me if I have a ticket. I said no. He then said I can not return any cans. He said I could wait until 10am, get a ticket and then return cans. I told him I don't have time to wait until 10am. Still with no one there he would not let me return my cans. He said Safeway does not do the tickets so I could go over there. I left. At 11:40am I'm back at Fred Meyer. Again no one at the bottle/can exchange except me and a FM employee and I'm again told I can't turn in my cans. No one there, just me and the FM employee. This time I take a ticket for 12pm. At 12:05 I return and find long lines without social distancing, few masks, and I did not have time to wait in unsafe lines. Fred Meyer blames CDC, however CDC are guidelines. There was nothing preventing FM from using common sense and decency. I had 10 minutes or so worth of cans to turn in. NO ONE there but a Fred Meyer employee who's job was to deny me access to the machines. Which with NO ONE there had Fred Meyer let me return my cans it would have been safer for this 61 year old. I called into the store to tell them what happened and asked if they could review the policy and they were not interested. Fred Meyer, if you do review the policy, please consider letting senior citizens use the bottle exchange when no one is there if for no other reason that it's safer for the senior citizen. read more

This review only pertains to the gas station. Good prices but the SLOWEST customer service on the planet. I often bypass this station and opt to pay a little more up the street at the Chevron where the service is quick. If you choose to buy your gas here plan to bring a book to read while you wait.
