    Dead cake area

Epic experience while digging through the "dead cake" area. I spotted an illustrious (what I have named) "Phteven Cake" and promptly fell apart laughing with my daughter (see pic) upon closer inspection. I think perhaps they are training new bakers but whomever made this masterpiece should be on Netflix's The Next Best Dessert show. Not only is the color true to form but the size and shape of the teeth : perfection. I can barely tell the difference between the cake and the real deal! I can't understand why this cake was on sale. $12.41?? Such a steal! Far better than the baroque styled raspberry monstrosity melting beside it. Should you need some real artistry and dedication put into your pastries, look no further. Fred Meyer bakers have you covered.

Sheesh, this place is HUGE! It's like Walmart... except it's better and... well... BETTER. It's a one stop shop in its truest nature. Need groceries (including fresh and frozen produce)!? CHECK. Clothing?! CHECK. School supplies?! CHECK. Need to buy someone nice jewelry?! CHECK. Souvenirs?! CHECK. I say it's better than Walmart since the variety (and quality) of their products just seems above par in comparison. Check out lines were never long since there were enough cashiers to tend to everyone. Awesome first visit.

This is not my usual Fred Meyer, but I happened to be in the area and needed a few things, so I went in. I don't know that I have ever been to a Fred Meyer with such horrible customer service. I cruised by the meat counter and there were 2 staff people behind it and the female was yelling at the male "you better not screw me over again!" and proceeded to tell him - loudly - what he had done wrong before, case this, the meat that, whatever. So, I stopped directly in front of them, waited to be acknowledged, wasn't, then said "excuse me." She looked and me and said nothing. Just gave me that "what do you want" look. I said that yelling something like that and going on like that in front of customers and children (there was a little girl of about 5-years-old next to me) was probably not a great idea. She said nothing, and kind of smirked, and then went on to berate the guy. No comment, not even an "I'm sorry, how can I help you?" Nothing. So, I asked for a manager. She said he's not here. I asked if there's a store manager, she said there probably is "out there somewhere." I asked her if she could page one for me. She smirked and walked away. A manager came from the front of the store and I told him what had happened. He seemed to listen and care. Moving on.... I'm at the clearance area and there's a door where staff comes in and out with product to stock. And these 2 staff guys were there going on about this worthless girl who does this and that and has all this wasted time. Then I'm looking for the Free Friday item (frequently on Fridays there is a digital download for a free item). I can't find the item, or even a space for it, so it doesn't appear that they carry it. At other Fred Meyers, if they don't carry the item, or are out, they'll substitute something for it. This Friday's item was a small bottle of Nuprin Ibuprofen. So, I got a small bottle of store-brand Ibuprofen and went up to Customer Service to ask about a substitution. Another smirker. I said something like "it doesn't appear that you carry this item .... are you substituting anything for it?" She said, "oh we had some, we got plenty, if you didn't get one, that's too bad." I said "oh, at other Fred Meyer's they'll substitute and give you something else." Snarky response ... "yeah, no, we don't substitute. Like I said, we had it, and you missed out." Alrighty then. {I don't mind not getting the item, it's the tone and the words that I have a problem with.} They had these Squishmallow stuffed animals on sale for half price. And they were all in this sort of tall wire bin. And a lot of them were dirty. The white was dingy, scuff marks, etc. It took me a while to dig through and finally find one that was good enough to purchase. When I got up to the register, I asked the girl if she had a big bag that I could put it in because I didn't want it to get dirty. And I was holding it for her to scan the tag so that I didn't risk it getting dirty, she says yes, snatches it from me, drags it on the scanner and then shoves it into a small bag. Ugh. I wanted to hold it to make sure it didn't get dirty, and she just dirtied it and shoved it in to a small bag when I asked for a big one (that they have and I saw there in the cubbies). Annoying. I did find some fun things on markdown, so that was a treat. I didn't stay long enough to check out the other half of the store because I was annoyed with them.... I really enjoy going to new grocery stores. It's something I enjoy doing when I vacation in different places. It's neat to see how it's laid out, what products they have, are there any hot little deals, etc. However, this Fred Meyer is one I don't think I would return to.

I love Fred Meyers because they are the only place that carries POG (Pineapple Orange Guava) juice. Btw, try to mix POG juice w/ champagne, you'll get a delish mimosa! They have a good selection and great quality on their produce, meat and cheese! I love their fresh fruit pies and tres leches cake, a life save headache when somebody invite me to a party. On the top of that I can drop off my kid for an hour at their Freddy's Playland for free! They added on a Starbucks Coffee Shop not long ago. What not to love? I'll definitely be back!

This is a great all in one store. The clothing selection is quite good, there are a variety of electronics you can buy, there are hardware supplies, they have a garden section, the food is good, and their deli and pastries have a huge selection. If you're looking for one slice of cake you can get it here, which is nice when you just want something for yourself. The prices are reasonable for clothing and other items. The groceries are more expensive than places like Winco and Walmart, but not unreasonable. In addition you get a larger selection of specialty items you can't find everywhere. I'd rate the service standard. Employees are always helpful when you ask for help, and they just don't look as burnt out as people at Walmart (not sure if that's just in my head or not). You won't regret choosing this store for whatever you need.

Due to great customer service this place is a Walmart killer. Prices are higher here but the service wins out in my book.

So, criss-cross apple sauce everyone STORYTIME I When you're a manufacturer/vendor and you agree to be on Amazon whereas you sell to Amazon and then Amazon sells to its customers, most vendors choose to pay Amazon 2% for handling the returns. This means that the returns do not go back to the manufacturer or the vendor. Please note that in Seller Central, there is also a similar program but some sellers can opt to have returns returned to them. Steelz from what I saw on their shelves seems to be a home for returning goods from various stores and platforms. It also looks like Steelz is the local recipient of left-over stock that Costco and others don't want on their shelves anymore. STORYTIME II Ever since the asterisk in the upper right-hand corner of the price matrix sign at Costco? If you see the asterisk, it means that the item has a number of days before it leaves Costco. That item may or may not sell out. If it doesn't sell out, meaning sealed, factory new items are left over, Steelz will most likely buy them at a discount ( liquidated price agreed upon with Costco and others ) and then Steelz is now the owner of the inventory of sealed and new items as well as any returns that Steelz wants to buy. While I walked through Steelz, I noticed many items from Costco. I couldn't determine whether or not the pricing at Steelz was indeed a deal. In my opinion, a couple of dollars saving wasn't worth it for me but I do see value for customers who are not Costco members. If didn't have a Costco membership but wanted to shop at Costco, then Steelz is potentially a great deal. Steelz also has many Kirkland products in smaller individual sizes like toilet paper and paper towels. We didn't buy anything at Steelz that day but I would be interested in going back and doing some more looking and pricing. There's been some discussion about the return policy or returning products overall. I can't speak on this topic since I have not purchased anything. If I do purchase anything and if I have to return anything, I'll update this review.

I used to go to one in Phoenix called Buffalo Exchange. Back in the day that place was the shiiiiiiit! It's been years and years since I've been to that place. That was probably my first experience with a store like that. Last time I went, they had all high end clothing..which is fine even for the $30,000 a year millionaires lol. However when they switched to that, the magic of Buffalo Exchange..had died. It's fine and fun to have that, but not everyone needs a Gucci belt, used, for $150 lol. Here in Boise/Meridian we have a decent selection of stores like this to choose from. Many first rush to Plato's Closet AAAAND...they shouldn't. Plato's Closet is a national chain and they kinda suck. They have the back in NY. I mean, cmon! These types of stores are best when they're unique to themselves. Buffalo Exchange is even a chain, mostly west coast, I believe tho unless they've expanded further east hmm? Plato's used to be just ok. Now they're annoying. They, like so many stores, I repeat this again..forget that men like to wear clothes too and forget that we have to wear them. Yes I know, statistically women buy more clothing, but still doesn't mean that stores should take away a chunk of a mens section to put more womens. I like clothes. I like to buy them lol. So that being said, Runway Exchange doesn't get a pass on this. Their mens section used to be slightly bigger but now...it's a tiny corner in the back of the store and everything is jammed into like 4 racks. It's kinda crazy, hella annoying, and inconvenient. You take something off the rack and 5 things come with it. Clearly they continue to buy mens clothes and why??? Because men keep buying clothes there lol. That's about the only complaint I have with this place. Honestly, that'll be my complaint with any store that has a tiny mens section and a 95% of the store section for women lol. No, I do not hate women lol. I just need businesses to remember that they share the planet with...guys lol. Runway Exchange is the store people should ALWAYS go to first over Plato's. I say this because 1) they're very close by to each other and 2) even tho Runway may be smaller, it's 1000x better and always will be. The staff is hella more friendly than Plato's and they don't treat you different at Runway if you're not a GenZ girl or millennial lol. They treat you the way all customers should be treated. Plato's doesn't want anything to do with you if you're older than 25ish haha! Now that everyone knows I'm older lol, that doesn't mean we all have to dress like our grandparents did. I'm not in my 50s or 60s tho..thank God lol. Runways prices are much better than Plato's. Plato's, you'd think would have slightly lower prices being a national chain vs Runway which I DON'T think is a chain? I could be wrong? But smaller stores whether secondhand or not almost always have higher prices..that's common knowledge lol. Even with the tiny section at Runway, I'll choose it over Plato's ANY. DAY. Plato's will be a last resort. They are open to buying more at Runway and clearly have better taste in clothes lol. Can you tell yet that I'm a big fan of this place and not a fan at all of Plato's? Lol Whether you buy something or not, this store is fun to look around at. The vibe in this store is always a positive one. I hope it stays that way. Moral of the story, or moral of this review ...or something like that, go to Runway Exchange if you like shopping for these types of clothes and only go to Plato if you're an annoying millen...no, wait, only go to Plato's if you absolutely couldn't find what you're looking for at Runway or literally any other secondhand clothing store lol. Prices are decent, as mentioned, the staff is super friendly, they treat you as a human no matter how old you are lol. I'm guessing little old ladies and men could go here and they'd still treat them with respect. Plato's they would legit laugh at them and probably post pics of them to their instas. Anyone whose been to Plato's knows this is probably true lol. Runway is located in a weird strip mall. So it's kinda hidden which I love and I think that helps keep the vibe a good one. Just a great store. I don't go clothes shopping all that often, but I'll always make a stop in here when I do. The management knows what they're doing. They run a great store. Cheer, Yelpexchangers! Oh and again, great place to sell your clothes! I'm telling you, check here first if your in Boise! Thanks!
