Epic experience while digging through the "dead cake" area. I spotted an illustrious (what I have named) "Phteven Cake" and promptly fell apart laughing with my daughter (see pic) upon closer inspection. I think perhaps they are training new bakers but whomever made this masterpiece should be on Netflix's The Next Best Dessert show. Not only is the color true to form but the size and shape of the teeth : perfection. I can barely tell the difference between the cake and the real deal! I can't understand why this cake was on sale. $12.41?? Such a steal! Far better than the baroque styled raspberry monstrosity melting beside it. This review is for the jewelry department. I'd been on the hunt for the perfect wedding band for a few months now with nothing really jumping out at me. It also doesn't help that some salespeople at higher end places are too pushy and the prices too high. My fiance and I stopped by here on a whim and after we bought some skyr and fruit and I worked with Lucas. We tried a few on but nothing was looking/feeling right for me then he suggested the one I went with. We had to check and see if the size I needed was available. The system was down so he took down my name and number and he gave me a call to tell me yes it could be ordered in my size. I asked Lucas when he was working next to make sure he got commission. Went in today and Lucas wasn't there but the manager Josh made sure Lucas got credit for the sale and we had some laughs a good conversation while we waited for the computer to print everything out. I can tell the people working this department are well taken care of and I hope upper management recognizes Josh and Lucas for their enthusiasm and hard work. I really like Fred Meyer. Right after the produce section is a nice sized organic and health food section that also has lots of vegan choices as well as gluten-free choices. I am able to find a lot of vegan food that my local Walmart does not carry. And then right after the health food section is an aisle of bulk foods and then after that is all of the wine and they have a good selection. Everyone is always very friendly and helpful at Fred Meyer as well. If you sign up for a free club card with Fred Meyer you will also receive some discounts on groceries. The only thing that would make it better is if their curbside pick up was free like Walmart instead of a five dollar fee. read more

These four legs form a well balanced structure, like a four-legged chair. Take away one of those legs, and the chair collapses. So, when you advertise a price, you need to live by it. No, you do not have a disclaimer that contradicts your advertisement. Example: You are selling a bag of potato chips for $3.99; however, in the fine print, you say "Must purchase three bags." When the customer cashes out, and looks at his receipt, he will discover that he has been charged $5.99. Not a big deal? Think again. You have destroyed your customer's trust, something that is as valuable to your long-term prospects as a priceless heirloom. Just ask the executives at Sears or K-Mart, or Blockbuster. Honest, Truth, Ethics & Transparency is the recipe for success. Lack of even one of these principles is a prescription for failure. read more

This is not my usual Fred Meyer, but I happened to be in the area and needed a few things, so I went in. I don't know that I have ever been to a Fred Meyer with such horrible customer service. I cruised by the meat counter and there were 2 staff people behind it and the female was yelling at the male "you better not screw me over again!" and proceeded to tell him - loudly - what he had done wrong before, case this, the meat that, whatever. So, I stopped directly in front of them, waited to be acknowledged, wasn't, then said "excuse me." She looked and me and said nothing. Just gave me that "what do you want" look. I said that yelling something like that and going on like that in front of customers and children (there was a little girl of about 5-years-old next to me) was probably not a great idea. She said nothing, and kind of smirked, and then went on to berate the guy. No comment, not even an "I'm sorry, how can I help you?" Nothing. So, I asked for a manager. She said he's not here. I asked if there's a store manager, she said there probably is "out there somewhere." I asked her if she could page one for me. She smirked and walked away. A manager came from the front of the store and I told him what had happened. He seemed to listen and care. Moving on.... I'm at the clearance area and there's a door where staff comes in and out with product to stock. And these 2 staff guys were there going on about this worthless girl who does this and that and has all this wasted time. Then I'm looking for the Free Friday item (frequently on Fridays there is a digital download for a free item). I can't find the item, or even a space for it, so it doesn't appear that they carry it. At other Fred Meyers, if they don't carry the item, or are out, they'll substitute something for it. This Friday's item was a small bottle of Nuprin Ibuprofen. So, I got a small bottle of store-brand Ibuprofen and went up to Customer Service to ask about a substitution. Another smirker. I said something like "it doesn't appear that you carry this item .... are you substituting anything for it?" She said, "oh we had some, we got plenty, if you didn't get one, that's too bad." I said "oh, at other Fred Meyer's they'll substitute and give you something else." Snarky response ... "yeah, no, we don't substitute. Like I said, we had it, and you missed out." Alrighty then. {I don't mind not getting the item, it's the tone and the words that I have a problem with.} They had these Squishmallow stuffed animals on sale for half price. And they were all in this sort of tall wire bin. And a lot of them were dirty. The white was dingy, scuff marks, etc. It took me a while to dig through and finally find one that was good enough to purchase. When I got up to the register, I asked the girl if she had a big bag that I could put it in because I didn't want it to get dirty. And I was holding it for her to scan the tag so that I didn't risk it getting dirty, she says yes, snatches it from me, drags it on the scanner and then shoves it into a small bag. Ugh. I wanted to hold it to make sure it didn't get dirty, and she just dirtied it and shoved it in to a small bag when I asked for a big one (that they have and I saw there in the cubbies). Annoying. I did find some fun things on markdown, so that was a treat. I didn't stay long enough to check out the other half of the store because I was annoyed with them.... I really enjoy going to new grocery stores. It's something I enjoy doing when I vacation in different places. It's neat to see how it's laid out, what products they have, are there any hot little deals, etc. However, this Fred Meyer is one I don't think I would return to. read more

Like the store, but Pharmacy staff have ensured I will never patronize them again. Went there for ten years (longtime customer). Arrived before closing time to find pharmacy closed. Spoke with BOTH pharmacists (Daniel and Alex) to say "You closed early"; I'd come to pick up meds already packaged. One said "alarm has been set"; other said "don't know what to tell you, it was 7pm on our clock". No apology for wasted trip. For years I'd driven past two grocery stores and three pharmacies to shop here. Now knowing how little my business means to their pharmacists, I will opt to spend my money elsewhere. read more

Bought a comforter last week on clearance, had to use my rewards card to get clearance pricing of 44.00 Returned it today and their idiotic machines don't pick up my rewards card. Could not give me credit in store because it rang up 89.00 more than what is allowable for in store credit. I have sent 24,654.09 at fm this year ( yes I just did. I have gone to the locust grove and Fairview Fred Meyer consistently since I moved close to its location and in the past couple of months I have been not only disgusted with the lack of mask enforcement but also the disregard that the staff, especially management, has for the health and safety of all community members. If you are going to post no mask no entry then stand up and enforce it. If you are not going to enforce it then shut your doors like you have shut your mouths. As recently as today I was in the produce department and saw roughly 1 out of every 5 patrons not wearing a mask. I expect better from Fred Meyer. Too bad they don't care about their customers. I love Fred Meyers because they are the only place that carries POG (Pineapple Orange Guava) juice. Btw, try to mix POG juice w/ champagne, you'll get a delish mimosa! They have a good selection and great quality on their produce, meat and cheese! I love their fresh fruit pies and tres leches cake, a life save headache when somebody invite me to a party. On the top of that I can drop off my kid for an hour at their Freddy's Playland for free! They added on a Starbucks Coffee Shop not long ago. What not to love? I'll definitely be back! read more

I think this is the worst pharmacy that I've ever interacted with. First of all every time I've ever gone there theyve treated me like I'm a huge inconvenience. No less than four times. I was told that my prescription was ready for pick up only to show up and have them tell me to come back in one to two hours. On those occasions, I explained to them that I had received a text saying the prescription was ready and that I don't live close to there so coming back in two hours is a huge inconvenience. Could they please just fill it quickly while I wait, ESPECIALLY Since I showed them the text I received telling me it was ready for pick up. They said "sorry but no." Today was the last straw, I walked into the pharmacy at 12:50 I waited in line and when I got to the counter at 12:57 they told me that their lunch started at 1 o'clock and that I would have to come back after their lunch. I said "it's 12:57!!" There was also nobody else in line behind me! I looked at the woman and I said, can you please just hand me my prescription I drove all the way down here. It only take you two seconds, I explained to her that I was on my lunch break, and I did not live nearby, and I would not be able to easily come back. She said sorry our lunch is our lunch ,,, and you'll have to come back after , and then she turned her back on me and walked away. I loudly said "is there anybody else here who can please just give me my prescription!?" They ALL ignored me. I live 20 minutes away from this pharmacy! This is the type of customer service Someone gives you when they absolutely do not give a shit about how you feel or how their behavior reflects on the business. As a business owner, I would absolutely never do this to one of my customers. Not that this person cares but I will never EVER shop at Fred Meyer again for groceries or anything else. Condescending..." When I was telling him my purpose for wanting a shorter length cord, and apparently made the grave error of repeating something or taking too long, he cut me off with "I GET it!"... When he directed me to a display's $10 side...And I was in a different spot looking, sniped, "THIS is the end cap, THIS is the $10 side!" Had told him I wanted particular color and when looking at limited colors available, he made snarky point with attitude that another color "could do the job". It wasn't so much what was said, as the rude tone and condescension in how he spoke to me. He definitely needs to learn about customer service. Respect is key. read more

It's really the closest (brick and mortar) institution that compares to Walmart yet it is not because it is better. This is a great all in one store. The clothing selection is quite good, there are a variety of electronics you can buy, there are hardware supplies, they have a garden section, the food is good, and their deli and pastries have a huge selection. If you're looking for one slice of cake you can get it here, which is nice when you just want something for yourself. The prices are reasonable for clothing and other items. The groceries are more expensive than places like Winco and Walmart, but not unreasonable. In addition you get a larger selection of specialty items you can't find everywhere. I'd rate the service standard. Employees are always helpful when you ask for help, and they just don't look as burnt out as people at Walmart (not sure if that's just in my head or not). i cant even tell you how much i love this place. every time i walk in, i get so happy. the employees are all so nice and helpful, they have literally everything- and it's better priced than target and better quality than walmart. it's a one stop shop! we had a really (really) bad experience at ashley furniture and we were on the hunt for a new sectional sofa that would work in our basement. i was grocery shopping one morning and found a great sectional- at a fair price! what a concept! no sales people hounding me, and i was even allowed to use their 10% off coupon in their sunday ad. how great is that? we got the most gigantic sectional, which is some of the highest quality i think i have ever sat on- for less than the dinky sagging crap we got at ashley's. and they had really cute pillows too in their pillow section i could accessorize with! i felt like i was dreaming....i got this from a grocery store?? how is this possible? we could not be happier. the employees were so helpful, and got it loaded in the trucks for us. easy breezy. they told us if we had any issues we could return it...what a concept! that's how furniture buying should be- not a life sentence! thank you again fred meyer, you have life long customers in us! read more

What is it with my local Fred Meyer? I'm talking about the one at Fairview & Locust Grove. They do NOT enforce the Ada County-wide mask MANDATE, for when people are in public. Today, l was in there, and encountered *multiple* people who were not wearing masks. Finally, l asked a store associate why she did not say anything. She said that *only management* can address this, with customers. But when l asked her if she had informed management of these multiple violators, she said that she had not. And when l asked why she hadn't, she simply shrugged her shoulders & wordlessly walked away. Now l know that horrible things have happened to store employees, who have innocently attempted to follow the regulations, by advising shoppers to don masks. That is terrible- and inexcusable. But SOMETHING must be done, to protect the public. Some reporting mechanism must be put into place. COVID-19 is scary, and masks have been PROVEN to help prevent its spread. So for now, despite its convenient location & otherwise excellent service, my family will avoid Fred Meyer. read more

ID Native. Been out here off of Chinden for 34 yrs. HIGH turnover in staff. I liked it when it was more Fred Meyers. I did talk to Kroger's corporate when they were there. Kroger's has basically taken over, and considers themselves to serve those on the upper end of income, not those of being income challenged. I did feel funny about this. Kroger's products are a generic brand, also includes Simply Organic, are the highest of priority. Which are not necessarily good in texture, taste or ingredients quality, so not worth my money.They remove good products, to where I have to go to Walmart or Albertsons. *Krogers offers sales, on products before price increases on. *This is to show that they sell so much of a product it validates price increase(s).The increases are sometimes up to $0.15 per product. Most of the time, its not a sale at all, have to watch your numbers, not the wording.Discount coupons are 80%+ only on Kroger's products. Because I am disabled and on poverty level disability w/food stamps, I almost cannot shop here anymore due to prices. I want to spend monies very carefully, quality, nutritional values, and not a cheaper immitation, or generic nutritional nightmare of lower quality ingredients. Watch your produce and where it comes from, and how it is cared for. Strawberries, and blueberries tend to mold very quickly. *As for going in for a "quickie" purchase, not so much, store is not set up for that. Most areas of high demand/prices are in the back of the store. You must constantly know the layout, they now constantly change this. Pricing and instore advertising is not always clear. I have always said something. Always called them on it. What I have gotten back: arrogant attitudes, told I was reading it wrong, that is was for a next days sales,(3 days away), was a % example, *used system to call for assistance(reaching a high shelf)-didnt get an answer, so called on my phone, as the 2 employees walked away making really awful comments, that made me cringe. *Teenagers running crazy in the store, stealing. What I mean by this is: putting items in a basket, opening it up eating or "grazing" it, then putting empty wrappings/boxes on shelf. Literally shoving or "bumping" into people for fun. There was a medium size elderly woman pushing her cart infront of me as these 4 girls(same ones grazing) that were running up and down isles, came thru. I moved quickly to offer support. This woman thought she had been "in the way". *People grazing thru the produce section, especially grapes. Also using the "basket or small shopping cart" system. I literally watched them do this, and come into the store when I was there, which is every other day. **A child was lost within the store, and system for this was enacted and voice went over speakers. Child was found in outside Garden section. PROBLEM: No one heard the announcement, not one personnel went to the doors. A "floor" store manager was embarrassed by this, "what if it had been a child abduction?" *Maybe it can be said ALL this happens in every store, maybe, but not so much. I expect better of them. Kroger did buy out Fred Meyer, Kroger's management, I still admired Fred Meyer for being a "family" store by definition, not to income based. That made me very sad. As that "lists" me and people in same circumstance at the bottom of the heap. *They only offer senior citizens discounts on first Tuesday of the month, but doesn't encourage any store member to say anything about it. I have watched this happen. When i was challenged by a customer behind me, she asked what the "senior" discount age was. Cashier answered, customer wanted to see my DL. So, I lifted mine infront of her, and my disability card, and showed the clerk. Clerk called supervisor. **Ever notice that "reviews" mostly from hunting/fishing "guides" that live in $$$ areas, surrounding store. Reality check. My horse has gotten out of pasture several times, gone directly to FM to eat his favorite produce that they throw out. Been caught "red hoofed" on all occasions. Apparently, Kroger believes that in order to COMPETE with WalMart, one must BECOME WalMart. After being in my TOP 5 Fred Meyer stores for years, I sadly have to admit that this place has been on the slow decline ever since Kroger took over Fred Meyer like a decade ago. Although some other Fred Meyer stores have not sunk the way the Meridian store has, so perhaps it has more to do with the local labor pool, but I don't think so. There seems to be a real disconnect between management, and well, everyone else. The guy ahead of me in line yesterday bought an $800 gazebo (the one currently displayed) only to find out it was out of stock. Apparently, there was nothing to indicate it was out of stock when he brought the slip for the cashier to scan to the register, and I even heard the lady on the phone that the cashier was using to track down the item for the customer laugh as she let him know it was out of stock, and seemingly offered no further help. The cashier apologized profusely, but no manager came to offer to call other local stores to find the item for the customer, or even to sell him the display unit. The guy had groceries too, he was trying to spend upwards of a thousand dollars in the sore, and management was just too busy to care. I could tell the cashier was cringing, sweating bullets. Management did NOT care. I come to this store occasionally to buy batteries since the little coupon printer always gives me a great deal on Duracell's, but now I guess I may as well get those on Amazon/Walmart like everything else. I feel really bad for the employees, which in years passed seemed somewhat positive, but now mostly look as suicidaly depressed as your average Target worker. Sad. read more

This place is tops. Came to see it for the very first time and was blown away. I could not even believe how awesome it was to be able to get a grocery list taken care of and grab a couple of things from the clothing rack. Great deals on Carhartt and Columbia. The place was super clean and when I was just checking it out since I have never been in one, was stopped a few times asking if everything was ok and was I finding what I needed. Thought I was until I went over to the other side of the store. They had a deli that was amazing. Got some meat, cheese and was ready to go home and tackle a nice size sub. Purchased a TV and the wife didn't like the boarder, silly I know but no big deal just return it and get the one your wife likes... Not at Fred Myers, unlike all other retailers you have to jump through hoops and come back when the proper manager is on duty even tho it's been 2 days since I purchased it. What a hassle and disappointment I have to drive all the way back into town just to return something that should have been a hassle free return, steer clear of electronics at Fred Myers unless you are 100% sure, just stick with Best Buy easy hassle free 30 days I knew better but I decided to give them a shot and the hassle was not worth it. Roger the MOD on duty was extreamly unhelpful and not nice in explaining why he couldn't help us. We then proceeded to customer service where we met Cassy SHE HERSELF GETS A 6 star and when we explained our situation she tried to help by calling roger to clarify and rather than getting an answer she got reprimanded for even asking... SHE WAS AMAZING for the sympathy, a no can be said in so many ways and Roger gets a 1 star and I give Cassy a 6 even tho she said no it was in the most respectful and explanatory way possible, she deserves a raise. read more

13 years ago I was shopping here and passed out breaking my arm in the shopping cart. I was pregnant with a rainbow baby after a miscarriage, with my 3 year old buying him dinner. I was taken care of with live, and my toddler kept near and safe while an ambulance was called. You called my family and helped care for me along with the people behind me in line a firefighter and police officers wife. My baby is turning 13 this year. So often in life we see people in a hurry. But when this horrifying event happened to me when I was shopping alone with my toddler you helped care for me, care for my toddler and kept me calm as I worried about the baby inside of me hoping I wouldn't lose him. Your store sent me flowers as I recovered. Thanks for being awesome and caring for me as a member of the community in my most vulnerable and scary moment. If you want a higher price, higher service grocery store, this is a good one. I'm too cheap to shop here for everything, but I do buy lettuce here regularly ($.99, much less than Winco) and I like the deli for mortadella and capicolla. I'll be a consistent shopper as long as the produce stays cheap. If you don't like Winco, this is a great place to shop. Better selection than Albertson's, friendly staff, and they take credit cards. My favorite place to shop, the employees are all extremely nice without being overly "helpful " I like to shop and not be asked every 5 feet if I need help, that gets annoying and I end up just leaving when stores have their employees do that! I never leave reviews for grocery stores, but our experience last night made me want to be sure that management is aware to better their staff. We actually like the store, but if customer service is not top priority, I can't justify going there. Last night, we went in to get a couple items and postage stamps. Our cashier was sweet when she found out she didn't have any in her register and called for assistance from her manager. We waited a couple minutes before we offered to step to the side so she could keep checking people out. We didn't want to hold up the line anymore. Standing there, with our two small bags of groceries, looking around for any sign of a manager to come help. Well, we saw the manager (name tag said Michelle) at least 6 times walk past us or go to help other registers and never once acknowledging us. Who stands at the end of checkout with their bags for no reason?! I have always seen managers be ultra aware of making sure their customers and cashiers are taken care of. I felt terrible for our cashier who had to keep calling for help and apologize for something that wasn't even her fault. We waited for almost 10 minutes! When Michelle FINALLY showed up, she didn't apologize or acknowledge our wait which is good customer service to do. She obviously needs to work on her awareness. She helped everyone but us which makes me wonder what really was going on? Seriously. Look for people who need help at all times if you are going to manage a store. Thanks. read more

Coming from San Diego, we had Wal-Mart but not the Supercenter and we had grocery stores. When we arrived in Idaho we discovered the Wal-Mart Supercenters and all the different hybrid grocery stores like Fred Meyers, Shopko and the rest. Fred Meyers is my moms's favorite grocery store. She's comfortable there as it reminds her of her upscale Safeway from her time in California. It took me a lot of time to come around. ( 10 years ) I was initially turned off by the pricing and lack of selection. Over time, I have come to rely on Freddie for a lot more as I have abandoned all hope for Albertsons. Freddie services includes great service, self check out, all sorts of stuff ranging from groceries to guns and ammo. The best advice is look for the deals and check their ad. Their Natural section is fairly decent. The Sushi is good and check the end caps towards the back of the grocery aisles. You find all sorts of specials and discounted items. Fred Meyers Meridian has become my favorite grocery shopping store. I have noticed that when I travel out of state or even to different grocery stores I find myself missing the quality and selection that Fred Meyers offers. I would rate a 5, but the high food prices are a drag, but it's obviously not a deal breaker. I feel that with the prices we're gifted with a great amount of selection and choices. The organic section is great and features everything from frozen food to produce. The deli is average, but the boars head meat is a plus. They also feature a great wine and cheese section with sales staff dedicated to those positions. If you have a question about a specific brand just ask. The butchers is why I kept coming back. The meat quality is by far the best I've seen in town. The cuts are good and the meat is fresh. The seafood is non frozen during the summer and frozen during the winter. I personally don't recommend buying salmon or fish if it's been pre frozen. You can tell by the dark red pigment of the protein. Fred Meyers isn't just a grocery store they offer everything a standard wal mart would. They even have a jewelry store and chase bank. The store is good for certain things and especially when they are on sale. I took a chance on one of their 'staff favorite' red wine blends....called Second Voyage 2018 and it's just awful, even second day after 'aerating a bit' ! Sad I wasted my money and didn't buy the well trusted, always good 19 Crimes red blend (also from Australia) And their FM website does not allow reviews on their products...thus here I am on Yelp just in case anyone reads this and is thinking about buying that wine....don't do it. read more

Due to great customer service this place is a Walmart killer. Prices are higher here but the service wins out in my book.

For the most part we do most of our grocery shopping at this Fred Meyers mainly because it's 1.5 miles away! For regular staples their prices are OK, but it helps to look for their deal (like any store), and I do like many of the store brand products. Overall their produce department if OK but many times some items are pretty average in quality. The meat department has gotten better since they remodeled it a while back. The rest of the department (Electronics, Hardware, etc) are OK, but I've found better prices elsewhere. I'll give it 4 stars because it's close, clean, service has been pretty good for me. read more
