Found my way to The Buckle after becoming exasperated trying to find tall jeans…read more Because, here's the thing: If you're petite? Most stores give you your very own section. If you're of average height, other than the petite section, the remainder of most stores is at your disposal. If you're tall? You'll find yourself searching the back of racks and the bottom shelves, pleading with sales people who either respond with: "I'm sorry. We don't carry that in tall." or: "I think that brand's average is longer than the usual average--it may work for you." My people. Don't fall for it. It will most definitely NOT work for you (or me, anyway). I'm really not overly tall at 5'8" and so sometimes I fall into the trap. I try on the average length jeans and think as I stand in my bare feet in the fitting room--these could work...I mean they aren't totally flooding on me or anything...yeah, I can make them work. Only to get home, wash them once and find that I now can only wear them in ballet slipper flats and even that's a stretch. So, upon a recommendation from a tall friend, I walked into The Buckle. I had already spent a good portion of the day in mall department stores and was feeling a little shopping shell shocked (from having tried on countless jeans that didn't fit right--I always begin a shopping excursion with my self esteem firmly intact--and theeeen 2 hours later my reflection begins to morph into that of an over sized orangutan wearing ill fitting clothes while maniacally humming Downtown by Petula Clark). So, the size of The Buckle, being a smaller (than a dept. store, anyway) boutique sized store, kind of made me nervous. As, to try on 15 pairs of jeans, sort of anonymously, in the back fitting room of a big department store is one thing, but in a small store? A fresh humiliation. A sales associate approached and I blurted, "I'm sorry. I don't even know if you carry my size!" (as at this point I was in full blown orangutan mode) The sales associate assured me it wouldn't be a problem, asked my size, converted it to European sizing (as that is how the jeans are sized here) and then said, "What's your inseam? You probably want long length, right?" And, then he proceeded to select 8 different pairs of jeans--in long (!!!)-- for me to try. And, they ALL fit. And, fit well. I really don't know that I've ever had ANY jeans fit so perfectly. I could have kissed him. The prices are certainly higher than most department stores. But, you pay for quality. To quote a friend of mine, "I'd rather have one amazing pair of jeans that fit's perfectly than 10 pairs that are just so-so." So, I'll play the price. Happily. Great jeans, great service, great selection. Get to it!

Love this store! Great selection of unique clothes and the staff is always so friendly! Emery was…read moresuper helpful and friendly, helped guide me through the app so I could get my birthday coupon! Thank you for making my visit so great!

There are several places like this that I've been to, hell we have all been to secondhand clothing…read moreplaces NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY hahaha! I used to go to one in Phoenix called Buffalo Exchange. Back in the day that place was the shiiiiiiit! It's been years and years since I've been to that place. That was probably my first experience with a store like that. Last time I went, they had all high end clothing..which is fine even for the $30,000 a year millionaires lol. However when they switched to that, the magic of Buffalo Exchange..had died. It's fine and fun to have that, but not everyone needs a Gucci belt, used, for $150 lol. Here in Boise/Meridian we have a decent selection of stores like this to choose from. Many first rush to Plato's Closet AAAAND...they shouldn't. Plato's Closet is a national chain and they kinda suck. They have the back in NY. I mean, cmon! These types of stores are best when they're unique to themselves. Buffalo Exchange is even a chain, mostly west coast, I believe tho unless they've expanded further east hmm? Plato's used to be just ok. Now they're annoying. They, like so many stores, I repeat this again..forget that men like to wear clothes too and forget that we have to wear them. Yes I know, statistically women buy more clothing, but still doesn't mean that stores should take away a chunk of a mens section to put more womens. I like clothes. I like to buy them lol. So that being said, Runway Exchange doesn't get a pass on this. Their mens section used to be slightly bigger but now...it's a tiny corner in the back of the store and everything is jammed into like 4 racks. It's kinda crazy, hella annoying, and inconvenient. You take something off the rack and 5 things come with it. Clearly they continue to buy mens clothes and why??? Because men keep buying clothes there lol. That's about the only complaint I have with this place. Honestly, that'll be my complaint with any store that has a tiny mens section and a 95% of the store section for women lol. No, I do not hate women lol. I just need businesses to remember that they share the planet with...guys lol. Runway Exchange is the store people should ALWAYS go to first over Plato's. I say this because 1) they're very close by to each other and 2) even tho Runway may be smaller, it's 1000x better and always will be. The staff is hella more friendly than Plato's and they don't treat you different at Runway if you're not a GenZ girl or millennial lol. They treat you the way all customers should be treated. Plato's doesn't want anything to do with you if you're older than 25ish haha! Now that everyone knows I'm older lol, that doesn't mean we all have to dress like our grandparents did. I'm not in my 50s or 60s tho..thank God lol. Runways prices are much better than Plato's. Plato's, you'd think would have slightly lower prices being a national chain vs Runway which I DON'T think is a chain? I could be wrong? But smaller stores whether secondhand or not almost always have higher prices..that's common knowledge lol. Even with the tiny section at Runway, I'll choose it over Plato's ANY. DAY. Plato's will be a last resort. They are open to buying more at Runway and clearly have better taste in clothes lol. Can you tell yet that I'm a big fan of this place and not a fan at all of Plato's? Lol Whether you buy something or not, this store is fun to look around at. The vibe in this store is always a positive one. I hope it stays that way. Moral of the story, or moral of this review ...or something like that, go to Runway Exchange if you like shopping for these types of clothes and only go to Plato if you're an annoying millen...no, wait, only go to Plato's if you absolutely couldn't find what you're looking for at Runway or literally any other secondhand clothing store lol. Prices are decent, as mentioned, the staff is super friendly, they treat you as a human no matter how old you are lol. I'm guessing little old ladies and men could go here and they'd still treat them with respect. Plato's they would legit laugh at them and probably post pics of them to their instas. Anyone whose been to Plato's knows this is probably true lol. Runway is located in a weird strip mall. So it's kinda hidden which I love and I think that helps keep the vibe a good one. Just a great store. I don't go clothes shopping all that often, but I'll always make a stop in here when I do. The management knows what they're doing. They run a great store. Cheer, Yelpexchangers! Oh and again, great place to sell your clothes! I'm telling you, check here first if your in Boise! Thanks!

Lemme tell you! Ok so REI is obviously a great store. There are some things about them I can't…read morestand..:like when they get involved in political crap. That ruins the vibe for me for any business. It's still a great store, but people need to shut up with getting involved in anything that has absolutely nothing to do with sporting goods, outdoor activities etc or whatever their business is. REI is crazy expensive tho! Ooooh! So Al's just opened. I was sad to see the trampoline park close and leave. Sports Authority was at this location at one time too. Mittens was on the board, soooo...ahhh! Never mind lol. They closed. Sad. Anyway, finally a store goes in there. Obviously we are talking about AL's. This store is fantastic. I know it's going to be pricey eventually, but when we went in, the sales they were having were amazing. They had great prices on almost everything. With Christmas coming up, too, I'm sure their sales will once again be epic. They have all kinds of top brands. North Face, Patagonia, etc. Any place that carries Patagonia is ok in my book...even if Patagonia is another company that gets too political way too often. They make great jackets tho. I've had my R3 for like 17 years and still looks new. So walking into Al's and seeing they sell Pats, made me happy. Pats in general are very expensive. So if they happen to have these on sale, don't hesitant to pick one up. Same goes for a lot of the other name brands they have here. Great store for hunters, for anyone who loves kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, I mean, it's just a great store. I'm usually iffy on these chain stores, but I think this one is mainly specific to this area of the country, PNW, and obviously Utah and ugh, I'm sure California as well..at least Northern California? Who knows. Most people I know have already been. My hunter friends are in love with this place. They have gotten some insane deals here. However, if you haven't been, you definitely need to check it out...especially now that the Christmas season is like a day away from officially beginning. No, it doesn't start the day after Halloween lol. We got a few things here when we went. One thing was a flashlight. There was a guy in that section, wish I remembered his name. His main job is he's a fireman. I remember at least that much. This guy was such a great help. Knew the products well, super friendly, perfect teeth haha, and I mean, he was fun to look at. Sorry, had to throw that last bit in haha, because shiiiieeeet! Hahaha! Super nice guy. Everyone we came across that works there was great and eager to help. I hope this place succeeds. That spot it's in is a weird one. It seems to do good elsewhere and with Boise being a huge outdoor city, I can't see this place actually failing. I can only see it flourish and I hope it does. Check it out. Thanks for reading, YelperAl's!! Cheers!

Better yet, most of us spent one or two Saturdays at Saturday school, err. Saturday detention like the kids from the Breakfast Club, The kids who wore Vans the most were surfers and skateboarders. There were plenty of those kids at Carmel High in California and I wanted to be one of them. That free-flowing blond hair, sun tanned face and the OP shirts and shorts. Dude! The flashbacks hit me like the concrete pavement when I bailed on my skateboard when I walked into the Vans store at the mall with my teenage kids. My daughter was totally digging a pair of slip-ons while my son wanted a pair of high tops. I almost got into the mood to get me a pair, but I was not sure if I wanted to go all the way yet. Brad was super cool and chill while he waited on both of my kids at the same time. He looked like my age, well minus about 15 years, but he was an adult with several cool age worn tats. He got a couple of slips-ons for my daughter and pair of killer red high tops for my son. He kept egging me on to get a pair. The peer pressure was real, I mean for real bro, but being Fall / Winter season, I was more intrigued with the beanies and the hoodies. I found a powder blue / yellow hoodie on clearance. It was like 24 bucks and I got a beanie for 8 bucks. I still think fondly of my trip back into Vans after all that time, especially with my kids. The experience did not disappoint, and we occasionally drop in to check the new kicks and I go check out the clearance. I still do not have a pair of Vans but that's okay, but kids have several pairs including my son who got a pair slip on with flames on them. Killer Brah!

The manager took over and completed the transaction after several attempts due to the system not liking the address. I decided to call customer service 888 number to double check the status of the order I was told that it was canceled. I never received a notification of the cancellation. WTH! What really upset me was that I repeatedly suggested to have the order send to a another FFS. I'm Not sure if she even tried my suggestion but never communicated anything. She was behaving like she simply wanted to complete the transaction in whatever way, which is a red flag because there is no guarantee that the order will be shipped. Again-- why the option of picking up at a different store was an issue? She ended up overwriting the system to get to accept the address provided. Yeap-- customer service is pretty poor and higher up should look into it. In general customer service is in the drain these days. No one cares anymore. The worst part is that there was no line and no pressure for them. Again, now I understand why this place was empty when I first walked in.
