Fred Meyer was the original one stop shopping spot. When I was growing up it was kind of the fancy place--we didn't shop there a lot because it was more expensive than Safeway or Shopko or whatever. It's gone downhill in a huge way, which probably in part started with the acquisition by Kroger. My mom needed to stop here for something today so I went in to check out the kid's section. They had some cute stuff and a pretty good sale happening so I ended up buying some shirts, dresses, pants, a coat, and some other things. As part of the sale was a $10 off coupon for purchase of $50 or more. We got to the checkout and I asked the woman who was ringing me up about one of the prices, which hadn't rung up correctly. She said that I needed to have my card and since I don't have one I put in my sister's number. It wasn't bringing up her account so I said I guess I needed to get a card, and the cashier said that she didn't know if she had any at the cash stand. I tried a couple more times with my sister's number with the same result so I said I'd need to get a card and she said the same, like that was the end of it. I mean, I wanted a card of course so I could get the discounts; if they didn't have any at that cash stand, where would I get one? She did find one and scanned it in, so things looked good. Then came time to scan the $10 off coupon. It wouldn't ring up. She tried it two or three times and it didn't reduce the total by a penny. Again, the cashier was kind of neutral about it and just said I must not have purchased enough stuff. My total was $93 so that was not the issue. The cashier again just was ready to leave it at that until I asked if there was a manager who could help, so she called over the manager. They kept insisting that I hadn't spent enough money or something because the coupon wouldn't work, but they couldn't articulate why and there was nothing on the coupon that said it shouldn't be applicable; in fact, it specifically stated that you could use it with other discounts and coupons. I insisted that they honor the coupon since they couldn't tell me why it wasn't valid except to say that it wasn't scanning. The manager called someone else and I guess was told to just start putting in codes until the right amount was taken off, which they did; first $5 came off and then they entered one that lowered the price to $73. The manager then said that because it had taken off more that nothing in the purchase would be returnable. What?? I was buying children's clothes, and kids clothes are not always the most accurate in sizing (especially with a ~93rd percentile child)! I said that was ridiculous that I couldn't return something if it didn't fit--it wasn't my problem that they weren't able to get it to work properly and that didn't correct it when more came off than should have. She continued to say nothing would be returnable. I don't know how they'd enforce that, honestly, but since I bought almost all of it a size larger than should be necessary it should fit (though of course I'd return it if it didn't; otherwise I'd be out the money with clothes that didn't fit). To add insult to injury, the cashier apologized repeatedly to the guy who was in line behind us. Yes, he'd been waiting, but there are other cashier stands in the store. And we'd also been waiting at least 10 minutes while they figured out the whole thing! But not a single apology for my mom (who had her own stuff to purchase) or me. Just all around a terrible experience, and luckily for me I don't shop at Fred Meyer. read more

What I like about the Fred Meyer is that it has a bit of everything that one needs...food, non-food, pharmacy, etc. I am buy food products, non-food products, get my prescriptions, get vaccines, and I can do so in one stop. I have never had problems while I was there, and the customer service is good. I was able to bring in stuff that I want to see at Fred Meyer, and they accepted it. read more

The people at the pharmacy are great but the Fred Meyer pharmacy portal and phone system are both awful. Three times now, using the portal, the prescriptions were not processed. Calling in the refill you get the same message that it will be ready the following day after 3 pm. What a joke!! We've waited as along as two weeks to get a refill that should have ready in 48 hours. read more

Lesson learned! I go to Fred Meyers weekly. Go to for produce and home stuff. But man what's up with the checkers? Typically I'll use self check out but there wasn't a line on the cashiers station. However I've noticed they seem to hate life, hate being there, and act like they can't stand you, I dunno, by making them do their job they applied for and accepted? So tired of see my produce chucked across the scanner like it's a bowling game like goal is to bruise tomatoes, apples etc . I guess I get to watch it unfold then pay for it. No eye contact just resentment. I work in customer service and this is just embarrassing and awkward to see adults (?) throw little tantrums. No management visible. Don't count on marked prices being what you pay at the check out. Unfortunately, I did not catch that 4 items were charged at a price 20% higher than what they were marked as on the shelf. Would be excusable once but this is a regular problem. Overpriced and low on value. Go elsewhere if you can. read more

Not only are they more expensive than some other stores, the quality of their produce is horrible. I recently ordered online for a pick-up. The fresh organic kale I received was yellowed, the bananas looked rotten, the broccoli sprouts were yellow. Notice the expiration date on the sprouts is Aug 14. This picture was taken August 5! Not enough cashiers and the store is set up so random. It's like a scavenger hunt to find most things. Cashiers look put out when they have to bag groceries and about half the time, they expect you to do it if bring own bags. Cashiers or floor managers seem oblivious when there are lines into aisles. Produce looks good, but I've found that most of their bagged salads and dressings are almost expired. Big miss unless you're gonna eat it that same day. read more

I was here back on September 3rd , when I came to Oregon to visit my son . I stopped here to stock him up on groceries since he lives in Elkton and he is a long way away from a large grocery store . This place is huge . Not only is it a grocery store , but a department store . Since it is part of the Kroger / Smith's Grocery family , I was able to use my rewards discounts for purchases . The prices were a little higher than I pay in Las Vegas and the whole deposits on soda cans , water bottles , and grocery bags was strange to me . We later went to one of those machines where you load your cans into and get paid back for them . Anyway , I even bought a few lottery tickets , but unfortunately no jackpot . Oh well . I bought a car load of dry goods and canned goods and such to stock him up for a while . I would recommend coming here to be your one stop shop and don't forget to bring your own shopping bags so you don't have to pay for theirs . read more

Grocery shopping is one of those adulting activities that gives me more anxiety than it should. Even just having the thought of spending an hour of my day searching the numerous aisle for items on my shopping list is making me tired. That's why I LOOOOOOVE Fred Meyer's pick-up service. Really the only reason I shop at Fred Meyer is because of this service. I shop online for items, set a time for pickup, and then my groceries are brought out to me as I wait in my car. It's an anxious couch potato's dream come true. But that is not why I am writing this review. I had no intention of writing a review for Fred Meyer, but I want to give a special shout out to their employee, Brian. Since I am a creature of habit, I schedule my grocery pick up for most Sunday mornings. Most Sundays, it is Brian who will be bringing my order out to me. We have done this routine for so long by now, I can hear him yelling "Stephanie" through my rolled up window as he approaches. He is always in the best mood. Always so bright, cheerful, and happy no matter if it's raining, sunny, hot or cold. His optimistic demeanor sets my Sundays up in a positive tone. Thanks Brian! I stopped in several times last week while looking for patio furniture, and decorative items for out doors. They have nice things, but not the greatest prices on the furniture. How ever the decor they have a nice selection, and decent prices. I had to use the rest room after drinking a huge amount of water before leaving the house... huge mistake on my part. The rest room had been relocated since I last remembered using it last in this store. It is now by the customer service area, where they have metal detectors. I am sure because of all of the transients that are around. Upon walking in the store there were so many asking for $$ for food with dogs. When I walked in the rest room, it was disgusting. I found a stall that was some what clean to use. When I left the rest rooms, I walked up to customer service area to report that is needed to be cleaned. The woman just looked at me. I repeated the rest room is dirty, and should be cleaned. She gave me a dirty look, and said okay. Like she knew it was disgusting in there, and didn't care. I can't say I want to frequent this Fred Meyer just on this basis alone. I will stick to River rd., or the Springfield one thanks. read more

I have not lived in the Eugene area for over three years and have not used you as my pharmacy in that time. You sent a refill to one of my doctors several weeks ago and it took several visits to my new pharmacy and phone calls to my doctor before we were able to figure out what you had done. I called you and asked that my information be removed from your system so this would not happen again. The person "helping" me was quite rude, but assured me it would not happen again. It just did! Your W. 11th st. store in Eugene Oregon HAS to be an embarrassment to the Kroger Company. Not only are a lot of the shelves empty or only partially with limited items, the shopping carts are rarely available in the store. Generally you have to bring one from the parking lot to ensure you have a cart. In addition, your isles are poorly labeled as to what is in a particular isle. i.e. Baking goods should be everything to do with baking, not Ice Cream toppings which should be at or near the Ice Cream isle. You used to have designated Isles for Organic foods, those Isles are gone and the Organic foods are intermingled with non-organic, Providing the shelves are stocked. You stock grocery items with expiation dates only a few days away. I've shopped at your springfield store, they don't have any problem stocking their shelves or keeping shopping carts available IN THE STORE. For myself, about the only thing your W 11 st. store is good for is maybe buying apples, oranges and bananas. When you remodeled the W 11 st. store, I went from a good and pleasant store to a disorganized, unpleasant and very frustrating store. I'm now going to drive to Safeway on either Coburg or W 18 st. for my major shopping needs. They don't seem to have a problem keeping their shelves stocked or carts in the store. My review is based on not only today, 3-4-2024, but at least 4 other days within the last month or so, ALL with similar experiences and results. read more

Have shopped at this location for sometime because it convenient. Went today and there were several items on sale. , one of which were raspberries. Got to the check out counter and we had a new cashier named Ron. Very nice guy. I mentioned that we had raspberries but I couldn't find the electronic coupon. He pointed to his trainer and said she is the one that knows everything. That might be true except for customer service and humility. She was a "B" to us. While checking out I said, it doesn't appear it took off the discount on some items. She said, we aren't there yet. That experience at this store was by far the worst I have had there. Well if you're from out of state do know that they actually expect you to bag your own groceries half the time!! No where in the huge state of Texas was I expected to bag my own groceries and price gouging wasn't done there to make up for baggers!! . I checked out at the little south exit near the gas station. The girl scanned all my items and rang me up and stood there just staring at me. With the bag I purchased sitting in front of her. On the other side of the counter from me down low. When I check out back home especially if I have a lot which I didn't today!!! I help. So I started filling the bag I brought with me. She just continues to stare. And not fill the bag sitting right in front of her. I ask is that one full. She's like no why did you need another?!? I said No but it's kind of hard for me to fill it way over there!! The man's answer was "this is my first day I don't know anything. " I laughed and said. Your training department would have a heart attack if they heard your answer. This review is directed at the pharmacy, not the retail operations. I had two recent transactions at the Fred Meyer pharmacy, neither of them were that satisfactory. I thought the first was a one off occurrence, but after the second it is clearly the way the pharmacy operates. If you reliably need your prescriptions filled quickly (that being less than 3 hours) your should take your business elsewhere. The first transaction I waited for three hours after the prescription was sent over and it wasn't ready and the PharmTech said it would be another hour, so I started the 20 minute drive back home. About 10 minutes later I'm halfway home and the text message arrives saying the prescription was ready. (Sigh...) I turn around and head back to pick-up the prescription, wishing I would have just waited at the store for it to be ready. The second experience was even worse. I waited three hours after the prescription was submitted and got the same story, the prescription wasn't ready and it would be another hour. I decided to drive home, as the physician was able to provide the initial dose during the visit so I had 12 hours until it was time for the next dose. I returned just before closing that day and only one of the two prescriptions had been filled, fortunately the critical prescription was filled and the other would be available in 48 hours. If you want to use the Fred Meyer Pharmacy on 11th, get a written prescription and present it while asking if they have the drugs on hand and a delivery estimate. If it doesn't meet your needs head down the road to CVS as their professionalism is far superior to the Fred Meyer pharmacy. read more

I don't shop at Fred Meyer much because they are massively overpriced. Even Bi-Mart, a store chain relegated to the PNW, has better pricing. I went into the W. 11th store for the first time in probably 3 years tonight. Despite the renovations, this place is half modern and half disaster. There were wreaths outside that had half hanging on a structure to hold them and the rest left haphazardly in a cart. They were still there when I left 30 minutes later. The inside seems a bit more modern, but it is organized by a toddler. Random aisles set perpendicular to other aisles is confusing. Trying to figure out "sections" is harder than it should be because completely unrelated items are butted up next to entirely different sections. There is no good flow to the layout and the registers just seem to be near exits rather than centrally located together. And the ones at exits with only 2 registers weren't open. Why are they there? There is also a bar -- and actual bar set up -- so customers can get drunk around you while you shop. What idiot thought this was a good idea? I don't want my kids around that! It is irresponsible and stupid in my opinion. And as always, Fred Meyer extra overcharges because I HAVE an account with them, but THEY cannot get my phone properly tied to my account. I've only tried FOUR times and my phone number never works. So I just expect to get bent over if I venture there. Overall, they have modernized the place, but not for the better. It is a complicated mess that doesn't flow well, isn't sectioned well, and puts unlike items next to each so you never find what you are looking for. Fred Meyer is always the most expensive option to buy anything and this one serves drunkards in the middle of the food section. Corporately, they cannot match a telephone number to an account and have had years to get it right. It may be convenient for some people to go there, but just about anyone else will be cheaper, faster, and less frustrating to deal with. read more

Fred Myer has the absolute worst pharmacy at least the Divsion Ave. location. Every single time I need to get my mother's dementia meds they never fill it on time and my mother misses a couploe days of medications because they always are late on ordering a refill even when I request a refill 10 days in advance, still late. I no longer shop a any Fred Myer location because of this. read more
