Fred Astaire Dance Richmond has become a large part of my life. I came into the studio with my mom and we both gave it a try. Almost three years later, and we're both still here. Ballroom dancing is just so addictive. Dancing in and of itself has encouraged me to make positive changes to my life and health. It is amazing to learn so many new dances. I've learned hustle, salsa, bachata, cha cha, rumba, east coast swing, waltz, tango, and foxtrot at Fred Astaire Dance Richmond. But it's amazing to gradually learn new steps in each dance and to also feel yourself getting better and progressing in what you already know. But beyond the dance part of the studio are the people and community. From the instructors, to the other students, and to the studio owners, Fred Astaire Dance Richmond is just made up of amazing people. Fred Astaire Richmond just has amazing instructors and I am so thankful for my amazing instructors, Daniel, Dmitriy, and Alina D. They are truly phenomenal instructors and people. And I have met so many amazing new people at the studio, including other students who have become great friends. As an adult, Fred Astaire Dance Richmond is probably one of THE BEST places to meet new people and make new friends. I can't recommend Fred Astaire Dance Richmond highly enough. I walked into Fred Astaire Dance Studio Richmond on October 27 with little dance experience and not knowing what to expect. From day one, Alina made me feel completely welcome, and at ease. She is not only an exceptional instructor with an incredible technical skill, but she genuinely invests in her students as people. She noticed early on what I was capable of and pushed me in the best possible way. We are now preparing a Rumba showcase together that includes lifts, something I never would've imagined doing when I first walked through the door. I cannot recomend highly enough this business and amazing group of instructors. They have managed to create not only a fun and supportive environment, but a community. When I decided to try a free lesson I didn't have any expectations, as I'd never done anything like it before. Nine months later I am continuously blown away by how much fun I have every single time. I've been dancing at FADS Richmond since it opened in 2018. I started this journey with no expectations - I just wanted to dance. I soon grew to love ballroom dancing. My instructors are talented dancers and teachers. They are fun, young and full of energy. I look forward to my lessons each week. The studio is lovely with a large dance floor and crystal chandelier - just like in the movies! Studies have shown that dancing helps our minds as well as our bodies and it's true! I went to Fred Astaire with my husband for wedding lessons and I couldn't have had a better experience! I was worried initially because I didn't want our dance to look too choreographed. Fortunately they were great listeners and adapted the dance to what we felt most comfortable with throughout the entire process. Ultimately our dance was fun, casual, and intimate. Tommy, Mairi, Sasha, and Alina provide excellent dance instructions using tiered methods that make learning to dance easy, fun, and exciting! I was putting together small sequences of steps I learned at class and before I knew it I was dancing! Different dances are taught each night at optional classes throughout the week and the skills learned can be put to the test in a stress free environment with fellow students at the weekly "practice party".
