When my daughter tried to explain, she was told she was being disrespectful and forced to apologize in front of the entire class. My daughter was humiliated. After three weeks, she was so discouraged that she refused to go back. Also, be careful about their refund policy, I cancelled classes on September 25th, but they still billed me for October. When I complained, they refused to give a refund. I ended up paying over $600 for three weeks of classes. It was a really bad experience.

I feel like there are different types of pole. Some emphasize the workout, others focus on the confidence and dance aspects. I prefer the latter, but Butter & Filth does an amazing job at incorporating all the elements. It feels like a fully balanced space. I have taken a few B&F infusion classes. You are required to start with these before you can sign up for their other classes. It's a three class beginner series. They have two studios now, which are about 5 minutes driving from each other. The class mentions which location it'll take place at. If you're interested in joining this studio, you'll want to sign up for their newsletter to get notified when the registration for B&F infusion is open to signup for (usually at the beginning of the month). It seems like you're required to take it twice before moving on to their normal classes. Do not be discouraged by the pricing here. It's a local business with incredible teachers and a wonderful vibe. You don't only learn a lot, but it feels like an investment in self love. I know that sounds cheesy, but I usually leave classes there feeling inspired and really proud or good about myself. It's an amazing community and I'm excited to continue my journey with them.

I came early, went to the wrong side of the mall and had to run to class. I ended up being two minutes late, the door was locked, and they had a sign blocking the door as well. I stood there for a second waiting to get in, but then someone shooed me away!! This was last week. One other time I booked, they canceled class the night before, and now when I want to actually go they wouldn't let me in? Huge disappointment. I'm a regular class passer and have NEVER been somewhere where there isn't a five minute grace period. And to lock people out?! I really hope they fix some things because this is isn't normal. Multiple instructors, all of whom are excellent teachers and true to the 26-and-2 dialog/script during the yoga classes. All are experienced, attentive, and clearly happy to be teaching. All bring their unique focus and vibe, so class always feels fresh. 2. Studio is bright and clean. Temperature and humidity are maintained at the recommended temps for both the hot yoga and the other classes (e.g., hot Pilates, Sunday evening yin/Nidra). The heating system is relatively quiet, and the air is gentle--doesn't blow/blast on you like heaters at some studios. Parking is free and plentiful. 3. Showers are clean and well stocked with body wash, shampoo, conditioner. 4. Students include a diverse range of body shapes, fitness levels, ages, genders, and ethnicities. Everyone can feel comfortable and welcome. I think this is important to mention because I (60+f) have felt a little out of place in a couple of other studios where everyone was overwhelmingly young, fit, female, and white. Lots of different people here and all friendly and welcoming. 5. Studio is committed to the original 26-and-2 postures (traditional Bikram Yoga) in the hot yoga classes--important for those of us who have personally experienced the healing of this particular sequence/practice. They also offer Hot Pilates and a few other classes, and those classes are also top-notch. (Try the monthly Sound Bath) 6. Supportive studio. All the instructors recognize and reiterate the importance of coordinating breath and body. Also, there's never pressure to go deeper into postures than is safe. Instructors regularly remind students to breathe calmly and attentively. They also do a great job of re-emphasizing the need to listen and heed the instructions for a safe practice. As Victor (teacher and co-owner) regularly points out, "Yoga is a practice, not a performance." 7. Cost is reasonable, especially if you can manage to pay for a year of unlimited yoga up front, but even the packages are quite reasonable if you practice 2-3 times/week. 8. Healing. Many practioners of this particular 26-and-2 yoga will attest to its incredible healing and healthfulness. In a 90-minute class, the postures (including breathing) and the heat work together to develop strength and balance, provide aerobic work, and target common problem areas such as digestive and spine/back. , far more than just a great workout--it's also self-physical therapy and amental/psychological practice. 9. Since most of the above comments are focused on the Bikram yoga, I'll add that their Hot Pilates classes will kick your hiney (in the best way). The music varies every time, and the specific exercises also change up, which is nice. These classes work really well for me to develop more strength which in turns gives me a stronger yoga practice, especially in the yoga balancing postures. In summary, Hot Yoga Richmond is a 10-star studio, and it's the perfect place to heal if you need healing or get/stay strong and flexible no matter who you are or where you are on your journey.
