I'm so…read moreglad I made the trek from the Fan to Midlothian - this little jewel of a studio is so pretty and the owner, Sonja, really cares about her students and staff, which shines through. Located on the second floor of a stand alone building, the first thing I noticed when I walked in is how bright, clean and welcoming the studio is. There is an adorable boutique in the entry area where you check in. The boutique carries a thoughtful selection of yoga-centric items including yoga props (belts and blocks) essential oils, books and hand made jewelry. There's plenty of space to store your bags, coats, shoes and such before entering the studio. Once inside you immediately feel the light pouring in through the windows. The paint colors are calming and inviting. The room feels spacious but not overly large. Yoga props are plentiful and include great quality blocks, straps, blankets, bolsters and even sand bags. Spiritual Flow Yoga Studio offers a variety of class types including vinyasa flow, beginner, gentle, philosophy, meditation, restorative, pre natal and mama and baby. The studio is growing and additional classes are being added as needed. Private instruction is also available! I left the studio feeling great! The instructors are welcoming, knowledgeable and passionate about sharing yoga with the community. I will definitely be back to enjoy more classes!

My girlfriend, who is a regular yoga practitioner, and friends of mine have encouraged me to take yoga to increase my flexibility and maintain my level of fitness. My girlfriend encouraged for me to take a Beginner's Yoga Class at Spiritual Flow Yoga Studio, where she takes classes. We signed up for the Beginner's Yoga Class on Thursday evening, instructed by Celine. When class began, right away, I noticed something I hadn't expected-- a release of stress from a long day of work. Celine clearly explained the positioning of each pose in a patient voice and was also very encouraging. I continue to take classes at Spiritual Flow, and enjoy all of the instructors I have taken class with. I highly recommend Spiritual Flow to people of all different levels of practice, and with a desire to unwind and destress from our busy, busy lives.

Through a yelp event my boyfriend and I decided to try hot yoga again. We had previously been to…read moreanother hot house yoga studio in Norfolk. Apparently hot house yoga studios are everywhere in VA and family owned! The staff at the studio is incredibly friendly and we were given a quick verbal tour. I went into the ladies locker room, retrieved a full size locker for my things, filled up my water bottle and went into the room. A perk I noticed about the water fill station is that they have both water fountains as well as sensor bottle fillers which is really lovely and environmentally conscious. The class itself was very fast paced but the instructor, equipped with a hands free microphone reminded the class to take breaks if necessary and also included easier variations of poses for those who were beginners. As the class went on the studio got much much hotter. Make sure to be well hydrated and eat something before you attend a class. Another tip: you must bring your own mat but they do provide mat towels as well as face towels. Pro tip: bring a change of clothes if you're running errands after- you will be soaked in sweat. I bring clothes and even another bra and underwear. Also I like to bring face wash, a wash cloth and moisturizer to clean my skin after such a grueling sweat sesh. It's a great chance to get your face nice and clean after your pores are open and ready for a good cleaning. The locker room/ bathroom is also equipped with 5 shower stalls, hair dryers, mouth wash, hair ties and q-tips for those that need to get ready and go. I think that's a really nice perk! All in all it was a great experience!! This was a great Saturday afternoon treat!

Every…read moreexperience left me feeling uplifted and glad I had gone with the exception of the hot yogalaties class at this location. I had been to the location a couple of years before and was happy with it. The problem started at the beginning when the instructor gave a passionate plea to speak up about all the awful stuff going on in the country. I ignored it. To be fair I was happy with the class tempo, music, and degree of difficulty. The class ended with a repeat of political activism and shaming if you might not hold those same opinions. I quietly left class but the instructor was at the desk as I put on my coat. I quietly told her I know she noticed I left early, and that I was used to yogis that left us uplifted with quotes from poets, philosophers , or other yogis. That I felt she was giving a political lecture. She vehemently said " Yoga is political". But i feel it is spiritual not political, or at least should be. I was a drop in so maybe the members like this but if you plan on going to this location just be for warned. I was so put off and mad instead of the feeling of love and peace yoga has brought me over the years.

Whyyy doesn't this location have reviews? I'm happy to add the first review for Humble Haven. This…read moreis a cozy little studio in an amazing location right off the highway + near Mezeh, Walmart, and Starbucks. What makes it even better is that it is less than 5 min away from my house. I've always loved Humble Haven's previous location and teachers, so it was no surprise to me that class here was amazing as well. I did prenatal yoga at the original location throughout my first pregnancy and due to Covid, I sadly couldn't make it during my most recent pregnancy. I missed it, though, and decided on a whim to go to Camille's 45 min yoga burn at 10am on Sunday. This class definitely did BURN. It was definitely quite a challenge to say the least. I had been to a few of Camille's classes at ACAC in the past, so I knew she was a great teacher. We worked every part of our bodies and two days later, I'm still sore. Even though it was eye opening to see how weak my body was after having two babies, I was proud of myself for pushing through. It hurt so good. There is nothing quite like doing a hot yoga class when it's chilly out and walking out into the cold air. Am I the only one who loves that?? Note that if you forget your mat (like I did, thanks baby brain!), you can rent them there for $5. They also have drinks you can buy if you forgot your water. I'm looking forward to continuing to pop in here now that I've gotten the hang of this 2 kid thing and can take an hour for myself here and there. Give HH a try if you're looking for a new place to practice!

Of the traditional (aka Bikram) yoga studios I've practiced with over the years, Hot Yoga Richmond…read moreis hands-down the very best. Here's the scoop: 1. Multiple instructors, all of whom are excellent teachers and true to the 26-and-2 dialog/script during the yoga classes. All are experienced, attentive, and clearly happy to be teaching. All bring their unique focus and vibe, so class always feels fresh. 2. Studio is bright and clean. Temperature and humidity are maintained at the recommended temps for both the hot yoga and the other classes (e.g., hot Pilates, Sunday evening yin/Nidra). The heating system is relatively quiet, and the air is gentle--doesn't blow/blast on you like heaters at some studios. Parking is free and plentiful. 3. Showers are clean and well stocked with body wash, shampoo, conditioner. 4. Students include a diverse range of body shapes, fitness levels, ages, genders, and ethnicities. Everyone can feel comfortable and welcome. I think this is important to mention because I (60+f) have felt a little out of place in a couple of other studios where everyone was overwhelmingly young, fit, female, and white. Lots of different people here and all friendly and welcoming. 5. Studio is committed to the original 26-and-2 postures (traditional Bikram Yoga) in the hot yoga classes--important for those of us who have personally experienced the healing of this particular sequence/practice. They also offer Hot Pilates and a few other classes, and those classes are also top-notch. (Try the monthly Sound Bath) 6. Supportive studio. All the instructors recognize and reiterate the importance of coordinating breath and body. Also, there's never pressure to go deeper into postures than is safe. Instructors regularly remind students to breathe calmly and attentively. They also do a great job of re-emphasizing the need to listen and heed the instructions for a safe practice. As Victor (teacher and co-owner) regularly points out, "Yoga is a practice, not a performance." 7. Cost is reasonable, especially if you can manage to pay for a year of unlimited yoga up front, but even the packages are quite reasonable if you practice 2-3 times/week. 8. Healing. Many practioners of this particular 26-and-2 yoga will attest to its incredible healing and healthfulness. In a 90-minute class, the postures (including breathing) and the heat work together to develop strength and balance, provide aerobic work, and target common problem areas such as digestive and spine/back. , far more than just a great workout--it's also self-physical therapy and amental/psychological practice. 9. Since most of the above comments are focused on the Bikram yoga, I'll add that their Hot Pilates classes will kick your hiney (in the best way). The music varies every time, and the specific exercises also change up, which is nice. These classes work really well for me to develop more strength which in turns gives me a stronger yoga practice, especially in the yoga balancing postures. In summary, Hot Yoga Richmond is a 10-star studio, and it's the perfect place to heal if you need healing or get/stay strong and flexible no matter who you are or where you are on your journey.

Amazing. My bpdy already feels like it is healing. Great location great people I LOVE it!read more
