FYI, this is my first time doing Hot Yoga, my second time taking a yoga class in about 6 years so I…read morepretty much don't know anything about yoga besides what I see on tv. I need to explain my physical background/active (not so active..) lifestyle for those people who are considering doing this for the first time. I haven't gone to gym in about 3 months prior to Bikryam, and I occasionally ride my bike casually around my neighborhood for about 3 or 4 miles. My body type is slim, but that doesn't mean I am fit. My endurance isn't great and I am still working on alot of workouts to improve my strength. Hot Yoga: about 30 people in one room set at 105 degrees. Not sure how the humidity is but they did have dehumidifiers in there. Class is 90 mins long and is considered to be an intermediate level of yoga. There are two sets of each "pose" and with barely no breaks between them besides a quick breather. Instructor states if you don't think your body can do it, don't push yourself too much and just sit down or relax. I didn't take that advice and after about 20 mins in I starting feeling really nauseous and lightheaded. I had to leave the room and stay out there for about 30 mins before i came back in.. I felt like I was going to faint. It wasn't that my body physically couldn't do it though. I came back in and just lied on the floor for the rest of the time. The instructor, Rachel, is extremely friendly and understanding. She knows quite a few people are new to this and knows that we're at different levels when it comes to yoga. Everybody was just so friendly there and a few of patrons also told me to keep trying and come back next time. 14 bucks for the first hot yoga session for students which I thought was a pretty good deal. If this is your first time, they give you a free yoga mat/towel to use. You NEED to bring a water bottle but they do have their own filtered water there. You pay after the session is completed. They also have one mens shower and two womens shower I believe if you feel inclined to rinse after. P.S.- i think I would go again if they had a beginner level type of yoga and if it was only for an hour.

The parking is a little difficult, due to not being sure if it was ok to park when there are signs saying for permit parking only. If this is a site for events accessible to the public, parking information should be more clear to ease your worry as a visitor. I will return, I was lucky enough to find public parking along the drive leading up to the hall, but my friend had to park in the other areas that are marked permit.

As I said in my review of the The National, if an event is coming to this venue that interests you, go see it. I have seen two concerts here, Matt Nathanson (my wife made me go and it was actually good) a couple of years ago and Bela Fleck and The Flecktones a couple of hours ago. The acoustics are great and the venue is small and intimate. The seating capacity is just shy of 600 and both shows I went to were reserved seats. There is a small balcony with maybe 100-150 seats. Getting to the venue is no problem, it's right off River Rd on the main campus of the University of Richmond. Since the capacity is so small, parking really is not an issue. There is plenty of room right in the main lot of the Modlin Center. The Modlin Center is home to a couple of art galleries and the music facilities for the campus, I believe. It is a very beautiful building as is most of the campus. Go for a walk or run around UR, it's a cool place to hang out and pretend like you are shelling out 30,000K a year for school ;) It would be a 5 star in my book but they don't have any concessions...
