This studio may get a higher rating, depending on what you like in a spin studio. I have only been here once on a free guest pass. The positives: very friendly staff, free shoe rental on your first visit, cold towel at the end of class, easy to book online, conveniently located. The negatives: the class was very crowded (the bikes are practically touching each other), it was so hot and there is one bathroom that had a big line before class because it was the only place people could change. The temperature is the real problem and the regulars said it can get that hot when it's full. If you don't mind the heat, then you will probably enjoy your class more than I did. read more

Went to Tosh's class on Saturday morning and it was an ass kicker. They have a $10 deal for first timers and free shoe rental, so I hit it up because as a new mom, the idea of making myself workout hard on a rainy day is not fun. So I wanted someone to whoop my ass into shape. The whole experience was similar to parenthood as a whole. Tosh is a super nice, outgoing and funny person, and you're all like "yeah cool! I'm here and ready." Similar to when your new baby arrives and you're stoked. And then after 10 minutes you're thinking "ok! That wasn't fun but still have energy" much like when your new awesome baby is so good at being new and awesomely crying. You're tired, but still energized. Then you struggle to get halfway through, and you're just like.. oh boy.. what did I sign up for? Cue the parallel to parenthood. Then after a sprint and a marathon you're just mad. And then Tosh says "7 minute song next" and you want to flip the bike. But you don't, you persevere and ride on, and you're proud of yourself afterwards. WHAT did I say about this being like parenting?! The ups and downs, dude. After it's over there is FREE coffee. Major bonus points in my book. 4 stars because overall it's not cheap for a membership and I'm not a huge fan of having to always pay to rent shoes to clip in when you can't wear normal shoes. Visited Richmond from out of town and decided to check out Boho Cycle Studio. I loved it so much, I went twice during my vacation. The studio is cute, clean and spacious. It had all of the amenities I was looking for, plus everyone was super friendly. In fact, they sent me a postcard thanking me afterwards. And most of all, I loved Rachel the instructor. She gave a great workout and had really fun music. I would definitely recommend and I would go again. I would only note that you can't choose your bike in advance, so get there early if you like to have first pick of where you ride. read more

Thank you Boho for kicking my Boho butt! Let's take this Beyoncé cycle class, they said. It will be fun, they said. We can go out for cake afterward, they said. I'm coming at you with the biggest stale face because this was the closest thing to a near-death experience that I've ever had! Tosh kicked. our. butts! Boho Cycle is a tiny studio with one cycle room. They keep it nice and cool in there with air conditioning and fans, but once the bikes start rolling it does get super hot. Don't forget your water! The instructors have the ability to dim the lights and pump up the music to get you in the zone. This time, it was a Beyoncé hip hop class so naturally, we were blessed with the sounds of the Queen! It was way harder than I thought to dance while pedaling. I just couldn't get my coordination together! Most of the time I tried to keep up but Tosh was just killing it. I loved that there were rest times in every song. I feel like I got more out of my workout because I wasn't beat down and super fatigued the whole time. So, a few things. You get your first ride and cycle shoe rental for free! I personally did not like the cycle shoes. At my regular gym you have the option of using regular shoes or cycle shoes. It looks like you don't have an option at Boho. Maybe I just need to get used to them? I don't know. Unfortunately, it doesn't make sense for me to get a membership or anything to Boho because my gym already has cycle classes that I go to. But, I did love experiencing a different take on Cycle and I would most definitely go back again for a special class like this one. read more

My mom and best friend died from a brief battle against cancer in early 2014. I wasn't sleeping, felt anxious and unfocused. My friend got me to try Boho Cycle Studios while I also signed up for therapy sessions. After a few classes, I was hooked, and I was getting more out of a $14 class than a $75 therapy session. I quit therapy and bought an unlimited yearly pass. Each instructor has their own style and sass. The instructors know me by name and notice when I don't make it to a regular class.They make me feel like I can do anything and push through the hardest hills with their cheering and motivation. I really love this place. I rode with Tosh last night for the first time ever and while I don't usually play favorites because everyone who works there had been nothing shy of incredible and has an awesome different set of strengths and interesting things that make their rides fun.... she's now my favorite. Ha ha! I like BoHo more and more every time I am able to go (which is more frequently thanks to the little schedule changes here and there!). I always feel so great when I am done! I'm going to add, that the "mean girls" are more prevalent than they were before, which is disappointing. It's been a suuuuper slow influx over the past few months. A friend of mine had been begging me to try spin classes for almost a year, and I finally said yes when she explained the first ride at Boho is free. I am not naturally athletic and wasn't working out regularly, so I was a bit intimidated to try something new. My experience during that first class at Boho changed all that! Spinning is fantastic for all fitness levels, and the staff here really could not be more welcoming and warm. The first few months were challenging mentally and physically, but the positive vibes, awesome (and loud!) music, and renewed energy and strength I was feeling kept me coming back for more! I've even bought myself some cycling shoes! In the past four months I have definitely toned up and improved my endurance, and now I regularly spin two or three days a week. (Which is really amazing, since I haven't regularly worked out since college!) I can tell I am stronger, fitter, and more relaxed too. A spin class at Boho is probably my favorite way to relieve stress now! I particularly love Kristy's classes; she is so upbeat and positive...all while totally kicking our butts (and destroying our arms!). I'm sure there are other options for spin out there in Richmond, however Boho is a place that is truly one of a kind. Shannon and AnnMarie are such positive people, and it really shows in how they run their business. I highly recommend the classes here, for those who have gone to spin regularly before and also for beginners too! If you aren't sure about trying spin or are hesitant to try something this intense, this is the place to go. Because you control the resistance on the bike (and most classes are held in near-darkness!) the intensity of the workout is up to you. No one notices if you need to slow down and take a break, and even if they do there is no judgement. Even if spin not for you, you'll have a fantastic experience. I'm a total convert to spin and wouldn't dream of trying classes anywhere else. Besides, nothing beats an ice cold, lavender-scented towel after a hard workout! read more

When I think about Boho Cycle Studio, my heart just brightens! I've never cycled in my life until I met Ann Marie and Shannon. I struggled with the seat and routine, but through their encouragement I kept coming back. Now, I'm completely addicted to cycling and exercising. What's not to love about this studio located in the Fan area! Amazing ambiance with candles and encouraging/uplifting decor located within the studio. Whether it's mimosa weekends or a challenging week, Boho is full of thoughtful and cute surprises. ~whispers~ the bathroom is even equipped with nifty items for pre and post workouts (my ladies feel me..lol) I could spill the beans and say my favorite instructor but truth is all of the instructors ROCK THE BIKE HARD!! They are fun but challenging. Oh let's not forget the kick a$$ music that keeps you moving. When you are on the bike and feel like you can't go anymore...you will be surprise with your "fave jam" comes on and you realize you can push through! Oh and there's a refreshing treat at the end of your ride that is sure to cool you off from your Awesome ride because after all...You Rocked the Bike... I started going to Boho when they first opened and I still lived in Richmond. I was so sad to move away from it--seriously! Now I live in a city with lots of big name cycle studios, but Boho is still my favorite. I have been going to spin classes for over 10 years, and Boho is by far some of the best. Whenever I'm in town visiting my parents, I make sure to go to Boho for a class or two. Everyone there is so nice and welcoming, and I have never felt intimidated by the environment. Oh, and it's an awesome workout! Tosh is one of my favorite instructors. She will kick your butt and she always has an awesome playlist. I always leave drenched in sweat. I'm so happy for all the success this studio has had. It seems like it's only continuing to grow! Richmond is lucky to have Boho. read more

Went to my first class yesterday and I will definitely be going back. Convenient to the Museum District, this is a great place to get in a tough workout. The instructor was good and got all the riders fired up! It was a little hard to hear the instructor at times, but if you're taking the class right, you'll be biking so hard you won't notice! The music was loud and pumped you up for a intense workout. Both the instructor and another woman (I'm assuming another instructor or studio employee) were really helpful going around and making sure everyone knew how to set up their bikes,-- GREAT for first-timers. The 2nd employee even got off in the middle of the workout MULTIPLE times to help out others who's feet had some unclipped or needed help adjusting their bike. Each bike has a fresh towel to use and we were even treated to cold compresses at the end of the workout -- a nice treat! If you're lucky, you might even find mimosas waiting for you after class! You do have to have SPD clip-on cycling shoes, which I have heard adds workout value. Slightly inconvenient, but the studio has them available for rent for $2 or for purchase. Can't see any reason why this new studio won't succeed. Try it out, you'll probably be hooked! Update: Still hooked 6 months later. The ladies that run these place really add a personal touch to the studio. They remember names, have tons of fun special events and really make you feel a part of the Boho family! #bohobestie! read more

Since when did my finger automatically move towards the five stars? Since my first class at Boho Studio. I had my first "ride" with Koury. Contrary to popular belief, this is no boring "just spin away" class. I was standing on my bike, sitting, sprinting, and sitting up and down on my seat. My thighs were achin- 10 minutes into the class. At first, I couldn't keep up with the tempo. Koury was very subtle in showing extra demonstrations so I could try to get back into rythym. She gave more verbal encouragement when she saw me struggling. This is a one classroom building so everyone for the next class is already waiting outside to get in. After our class, we were given cool towels to wipe down our faces, towels are provided, water is provided, clip-in shoes are available for rent- I swear, every little detail has been thought of. Always a great workout! A couple of things: they have shoes for cheap rental if you don't own cycling shoes, earplugs to protect your ears because the music is loud (I bring a pair every time), and even basic toiletries if you forget something. Great way to start the week or weekend. Not a lot of guys go and most of my friends think it's too intense. It is intense, but no one is watching, the lights go down and you really can get as much of a workout as you want. They also do private events! Even better. read more

Oh. My. Goodness. Not only did this class kick my butt, but it showed me JUST how out of shape I truly am! Tessa was awesome! She really pushed and encouraged us without making us feel like we had to push above our limits. Each instructor tends to bring their own "crowd" based on their vibe, so sometimes it takes a little time to figure out which classes/instructors are right for you. Just tried Boho and it was amazing! Class instructor was fun and energetic, consistently giving words of encouragement to the room. The work out was phenomenal your core, legs and arms will all be worked! This isn't just a leg day cycle studio they will work out your whole body, but you'll love it the whole time. I personally need a push when working out, I do better in class settings with the music so loud/ fun that I can't focus on the fact that I'm struggling. Boho is great for that. A lot of fun and a lot of work! I am not a cycler, but I was taken by a storm and thrown into the cycle mix with some fun music, low to dark lights, and lots of movement. I sweated my hair out and I had just got it straightened for Christmas. What was I thinking?!? OBSESSED with the Boho Cycle classes - especially with Tessa, she is an AMAZING instrutor! I have never been one for fitness classes & I had never tried cycling - since trying the free class about a month ago I have gone back at least twice every week since! Everyone at Boho is so nice, helpful & knowledgeable! I even recieved a 'thank you" card after my first class - Shannon, one of the co-owners, is wonderful & a tough instructor - her Boho Body class is guaranteed to make you sweat & pitty your weak arms! All of the workouts are tough, vary by class type/instructor and the instructors change up their classes/routines each time - it definitely keeps you motivated. My advice - try a class. After my first class I didn't think I would go back because I was a little defeated - the class was really hard & I had no idea what I was doing as a "newbie," but I decided to go back & I am so glad that I did - totally worth it! Word of mouth and the free first class got me in the door- but the experience kept me coming back. It's a lot of fun and a great way to release stress and sweat it out. My first 3 rides were pure magic, but then I got a less than inspiring instructor. Unfortunately here - not all instructors are created equal and it's too expensive to waste a class on a sub-par instructor. I still go, but am careful to avoid the weak links. This place has become part of my weekly routine. The studio is really clean and nice and the classes start on time every time. They have towels for you and the space is well organized. The front desk helps you with anything you need and nearly all of the instructors are fabulous. They have a wide range of times so it's easy to catch a class before work or after. I hate cycling. I just do. But it's actually quite tolerable- and dare I say fun?- at Boho. Seriously, of all of the classes I've taken, I have yet to be with an instructor who didn't have incredible energy and was super motivating. Also, always killer music and really awesome theme rides (hip hop fridays!). The best part? Chilled lavender infused wet towels at the end of class. Literally, they're amazing. I took off one star because I think their class cancellation policy is a bit bogus; having to cancel FOUR hours before a class? As a therapist working in a hospital, four hours can be the difference between "oh cool I'm leaving early for the day" and "there's a major effing crisis and I'm going to be here all night." I'm sure I can't be the only person who is frustrated by this policy! read more

I drive into Richmond to take classes at Boho, that is how great this studio is. I started spinning a few years ago and loved to take at Revolve in Arlington while I lived there. Once I moved to Charlottesville my love for spin classes came to an abrupt halt. Spin classes in a big gym are usually pretty by the book. I never felt motivated or challenged. When I heard that a private studio was opening in Richmond I was there on opening day to give it a try. The studio has a great atmosphere. The lights are low and music is heavy. Its a place where I can really zone out. The instructors will push you to find that next level and I always walk out drenched in sweat. The staff are welcoming and friendly to new riders. You work at your own ability and there is no sense of competition, its a team effort. The Boho Body classes are my absolute favorite. My shoulders and triceps burn like never before in every class (don't doubt the 2lb weights!). You'll have a ton of fun and get in a great workout! read more

I first came to Boho because my two favorite spin instructors from where I had been taking classes left and started teaching at Boho. At Boho, I have enjoyed every class I have taken. Finding a spin instructor that you really like can be difficult some places, but not at Boho. I have not taken a class with a single instructor and thought afterward that I wouldn't want to take their class again. Overall, the music, bikes, and lighting in the studio are great. The small details, such as the lavender scented towels, lighted candles, and hair products for when you forget to bring them show how much thought the owners have put into the studio.
