My daughter is in the 2-3 year old ballet & tap dance class and absolutely loves it! She is always asking to go to her dance class and is learning so much. At home she loves to dance around the house. Miss Bri does an amazing job leading the little girls in the dance routines. The girls learn basic dance moves each week. Right now the girls are preparing for their Peter Pan dance recital in December. I highly recommend Freckled Frog Dance Studio. We went to a couple of makeup dance classes in Tustin and I was impress at how consistent the class structure is at each studio location.

*I will be writing on the Venue itself and not the group I am currently dancing with, the other instructors or any of the children's classes as I do not have any family or kids that currently attend. This is a very cute, colorful dance studio primarily geared for kids. It has a charming, energetic vibe and is well kept. The supplies are hung up neatly, there are inspirational quotes and dance pictures throughout the studio and fun props. They offer some dance items for purchase and the studio is located in the back part of the mall. My Halau - (meaning a school, academy, or group) uses this space for practice weekly, on Thursday nights. It has a nice dance floor and one large wall to wall mirror. It is well lit but gets a lot of traffic because it is located at the Buena Park mall. That can sometimes be a bonus (because of the interest it attracts) as well as a distraction (sometimes people pop in during practice). But overall, a great space for dancing. PARKING: This has a huge mall parking lot and since my class is late on a Thursday night, I usually find a spot right up front.

From what I saw, the instructor is very knowledgeable, patient and sweet. It's my daughter first time ever taking ballet/tap class. My daughter is only 2 years old.

Outside of Freckled Frog Dance studio. From the door you can see how cute it is inside. My little ballerina couldn't wait to go in.

My daughter just turned two. I was looking for a place where she could take a dance class and socialize with other kids her age. She is very shy and I did not think it was going to work out. I am so glad they offer taking the first class for free. It was my chance for her to try it and see if it was something she would like without having to pay for a full tuition. My daughter absolutely loved it. The teacher Stephanie was very sweet and very patient. I was encouraged to stay with her until she felt comfortable. It did not take long for her to join in. It was great! Parents can stay in the room watching and helping, which I love. They sell outfits and shoes, which was convenient. They even let my daughter borrow shoes since she didn't have any yet. It was a great experience.

My daughter and I absolutely love Freckled Frog Learning Center. We have had classes with Miss Stephanie (who is amazing!!!)and other teachers like Miss Bre and Miss Megan. ( also both great)Miss Stacy is very helpful and will get back to you with any information you may need through email or phone! We have been in 2 recitals now and have had great memorable experiences both times. Last night was Under the Big Top, the studios 10th year anniversary. While I heard a lot of people upset; I have to say that it was a well put on show and even thigh things were running a bit behind I couldn't have been more grateful for the show they created for my daughter to be a part of.Also a huge thank you to Josh who helped us with our seating issues, I was able to still have a good seat to see my daug hter dance. The hand made costumes and the time the teachers put into this was amazing and my 3 year old is still talking about it. All in all I would recommend trying a class out because you will fall in love. We look forward to many years to come at Freckled Frog!! Thank you to the entire staff for what you do for our kids!

Wow, it has been years since I've written a review, yet I feel strongly enough to do so today…read more My daughter has been going to Academy 831 for the past year or so, and she started when she was around 4 years old. In the beginning, I enjoyed having my daughter here because there are big windows where I can see how she is doing, and the place is clean and spacious enough to not feel crowded. That is still the case, and the front staff is very friendly, accommodating, and informative with everything that goes on at this studio. I have had very little interaction with the owner so I can't speak to that, but overall this place seemed like a good fit for the past year or so. However, over the past 6 months or so, I've noticed a change in my child's behavior when it comes to participating in dance class. I believe that difficult situations can make my kid stronger in most regards, so I chose to observe rather than pull her out of dance as soon as she wanted. I am able to take my daughter to dance class every other Wednesday, and what I've observed is a complete lack of empathy, compassion, and kindness from Miss Megan, one of the dance teachers that teaches on Wednesday's from 5-6 pm. Over the course of a few months, I noticed some instances that I kind of brushed off as structure and a part of the growth process; but now that I look back on it, I was so very wrong. Some instances include: when my kid was having a bloody nose before dance class and she wanted to come out to blow her nose during class, Miss Megan did not allow her to. When my kid said she needed to use the restroom, Miss Megan did not allow her to. I have heard Miss Megan say, "you're fine, you don't need your Mommy" on multiple occasions. Yesterday, was my final straw. Yesterday, my kid was having a rough day. She fell during class, and she had a noticeable cry out. She looked like it hurt her to continue. I opened the class door to say "what happened?" Miss Megan said "oh she just fell, she's fine." Did Miss Megan physically walk over to check on her? No. Later on towards the class, my kid got her finger slammed by the door while going into the classroom after changing into her tap shoes. She immediately fell to the floor. While I'm holding my 2 year old, I yell out to my husband to go help my child who is on the floor in tears from the pain. Where is Miss Megan? Sitting on her bottom. The only thing she moved were her eyes. Not even a single intent to move her body to check on an injured child. This speaks volumes to how much she cares about the children she "teaches." Thank you to the owner, Christa (I'm gathering from yelp review replies), for offering an ice pack, as I'm fumbling to try to get a cold water bottle from the vending machine, and a bandaid for my inconsolable child. My kid's finger has a huge cut and her nail is black and blue, I wouldn't be surprised if the nail falls off during the healing process. I'd like this to serve as a reminder. These "dance teachers" are teaching CHILDREN. Children have immature brains and cannot process situations easily. They need to feel safe and nurtured and they need to feel like their basic needs can be met easily, such as having the freedom to use the bathroom when they need to or find their Mommy to blow their nose if they can't breathe through it. We will be finishing up this "season" of dance because my kid likes to perform, and we will be looking for a new studio that has a little more compassion and passion for teaching children. I'm a pediatric provider, and this is 100% NOT the way we should be treating our kids. As long as Miss Megan is a teacher at this school, there is no place for my children here.

And when I thought I hit my plateau, Te Varua Ori and Angela have definitely opened my eyes and saved the dancer in me. Angela is an extremely creative dancer, very strong in technique and skill, but so passionate within every movement. Watching her dance really captivate you and motivates you. Their lead drummer, Kalisi, is sooooooo freakin dope. I couldn't begin to fathom how crazy genius this guy is when it comes down to creating beats per Angela's movements. Everyone is so friendly, but has a good sense to strive to be the best. I also have to say this is the best looking group I've ever been with. Everyone is beautiful both inside and out! But what really is unique is how all of the other dancers and drummers have this natural vibe; like everyone feeds off of each other's energy. I kid you not, this group has it's own spirit that every dancer dreams of. The love. The drive. The unity. It's all there at Te Varua Ori. Try it for yourself, or come to one of our shows... She teaches the dance portion and has so much energy, enthusiasm, silliness - she makes dancing technique so accessible to this age, which quite honestly is a bit more harder to captivate since their attention is all over the place. 2. The price/schedules is so amazing. It fits what we need and there are so many class options - including acting, dancing, singing. There's just a lot more than a dance studio..so if my daughter were interested in improv/acting later, then she can easily switch to that or use a makeup token to check it out. 3. The productions and how they showcase their students on stage is genuinely such a huge effort and I'm amazed at how they can do this for hundreds of students across 3 shows - we love it and my daughter has a blast on the big stage, with the stage makeup and showing off their skills. And we also love how the costumes are stage/age appropriate - which honestly is something I've noticed in other dance companies I don't love. Cannot say enough great things about Stagelight. This arrangement may work for older kids who are able to listen and pay attention but definitely not good for the 4-6yo groups.
