Both of my older sisters put their girls in Freckled Frog at different locations, and all had great experiences, so I thought I would do it as well. We started in October and we go every week. I absolutely love that they have a parent portal so you can see your child's absences (I am a teacher as well). Some people may not value that because our kiddos are so small, but it gives you a really good tool to use when you're trying to explain to them that they're getting ready for a show and going to practice (and that they need to keep their commitments to things, and their belongings for that commitment, in one place). My now three-year-old loves looking at her portal when we login. The main reason I had to review is her teacher, Ms. Sydney. It was a make-it or break-it moment with nerves for my daughter in October the first time we walked into the dance studio. Ms. Sydney asked my daughter a question, and my daughter was right about to either cry or smile; she was scared because she's a Covid baby and we haven't really done much or interacted much with others. I didn't interfere. I just watched as the most gentle, kind, warm person you could imagine welcomed my little one, and my daughter smiled. I still watch in amazement as my little one goes out of her comfort zone, specifically in this class. It is the most beautiful thing to see. Also, more recently, I couldn't figure out why my daughter would cry during a certain song in class that all the other children seemed to love. Ms. Sydney certainly didn't have to change that song slightly every week to help figure out exactly what it was, she just did because she genuinely loves kids and cares about them! We visited Premier Dance and met the owners Mr. David and Mrs. Renee. Right away they took my daughter under their wing and created classes for her to start dancing again. They are a breath of fresh air and extremely talented duo. My daughter is now taking classes 3 days a week and we love all of the different teachers and genres they have to offer. If you truly do not love the art I believe that you are never going to push yourself to your potential. Renee teaches my daughter and she is so kind, thoughtful and most importantly invested in my daughter being the best version of herself. She takes the time to correct her without making her feel bad about herself. She respects where she is at. To have a studio like this is Los Al is very rare - their values align with ours and to have a role model that my daughter can identify is worth its weight in gold. I am excited that my daughter is finding joy in ballet again and I hope that she continues for years. Our experience at our old institution was so impersonal and often times rooted in fear of not following rules or asking for flexibility. Complete Lack of Responsibility…read more At my toddler's ballet class, the instructor removed my daughter from class to use the restroom and HANDED HER OVER to a random adult I do NOT know - someone who does NOT work for the studio. I was sitting just outside the waiting room door the entire time. Instead of taking a few seconds to find me, the instructor allowed a stranger to take my child into a bathroom stall and begin undressing her. Let that sink in. When I confronted the instructor, her response was shocking: "I don't have time to look for parents." Excuse me? Your convenience does NOT come before my child's safety. This is not a minor issue, it's a major breach of trust and judgment. Handing a child to someone the parent has not approved to take them into a private space is completely unacceptable and potentially dangerous. I don't care if the person was "nice" or "helpful" you never, EVER do this. I stay for every class. The instructor knows that. In today's world, how can anyone think this is okay? What happened tonight could have ended very differently and that is terrifying. Parents, beware. If you value your child's safety, think twice before trusting this studio.
