Brought my daughter to Rica Dance to see if learning hip hop would be something to pique her interests. Like many parents, it's a challenge to find hobbies or activities your kids can grow to love - and though my daughter ended up not taking to dance, she and I had a great experience with Rica Dance. Our teacher, Anna, was super welcoming and inviting to our family and did everything she could to make my daughter feel comfortable, especially when she noticed that my daughter was getting shy or felt unconfident. I always appreciate the invaluable skill of engaging with students where they are at emotionally and that's why we leave such a great review. In terms of the venue - I really enjoyed the location. Tucked away in a little corner of Buena Park, their studio is spacious, but what was really cool is how they opened up the side and back of the building to allow for extra seating. On top of that, they set out a little video area so that you can watch your child practice and not embarrass them by making eye contact with them if you were to be sitting nearby (see picture). One of my good friends kept raving about how much fun he's been having dancing at RICA Dance. I had absolutely no desire to take a dance class, but somehow was suckered into trying HIP HOP 1 for a day. I'm almost into my second month of class now and couldn't be more thankful that my friend convinced me to try it. The staff and instructors are really friendly and nice. The students in HIP HOP 1 are all at a basic level with me, which is nice because I (clearly) dance like a white girl. I take just the fitness classes (unlimited for $35 per month) and especially enjoy the Zumba with Abe and Yoga with Stacy. The Zumba class is different from other zumba classes I have taken, because Abe is a senior at CSULB studying Dance. For a klutz like me to actually learn routines, is a feat in itself, and one of the many reasons I enjoy his classes! I get a huge workout, but it does not seem like working out at all. Tuesday night yoga class is a wonderful routine of stretches, not convoluted body pretzel making moves. But I do notice I am using muscles I forgot I even had. At class end, if you want, relaxation time includes a brief whiff of lavender essential oil and tiny neck massage. I leave the studio sooo relaxed on yoga night. The class times are perfect for me to go after work. The owners are friendly, caring and professional. The studio has a nice, good energy feel to it. They just started a promotion for school/college students to get unlimited fitness classes for $20 a month, but for me, a non- student, I think I am getting a great deal at $35! I see a past review says $10 is the drop in fee, but I'm pretty sure it is only $5 a class, because that is what I pay for my husband to take the yoga class with me. read more

When i arrived, there was a large sign outside that said that the space is available for lease. Seems like they haven't been opened in a long time. I was kind if disappointed to considering all of the great reviews on here and I was also interested in the instructor too. Rica dance is my home. It always has been. I started dancing with Rica when I was eight years old and twelve years later here I am! I've had my fair share of other studios and there is absolutely nothing quite like Rica Dance. Anarica will make you feel welcomed, loved, comfortable, and excited to learn. She does more than just teach a dance class. Rica has worked so hard to build an encouraging and welcoming environment, you can feel it before you even step foot inside. I have brought plenty of friends to come take class with me and they all say the same thing, "that was so fun, I want to come back!" Not only do you feel comfortable taking class, you leave feeling accomplished. Her way of teaching makes you excited and eager to dance and her choreography is amazing. Very old school hiphop vibes but still keeping it modern. The best part is, it's not only the staff that is so inviting but the students and families as well. It really is a family. I was so excited to start and its been the best decision I've ever made. The instructors are very encouraging and fun to be around. The Zumba classes here are the best I have ever taken. The instructor, Abe, is great at what he does and he loves his job and it shows! I cannot dance to save my life and I never want to work out, but Abe makes his class feel like an hour of fun time rather than an hour of working out. The music selection is great, he varies up the routines and has a new one almost every week. Their rates are good as well if you have a membership for $35 a month. I just drop in time to time so I pay the $10 drop in fee and am happy to support a local business with such hardworking, dedicated people! And the decor is great also! Anna Rica has great taste!! I've attended many dance studios over the years, and Rica Dance is by far the best of the bunch. The studio itself is clean, attractive, and comfortable, but it is really the people at Rica that make it special. Everyone here is so friendly and encouraging. I came here after years of not dancing due to illness, and my first class back was emotionally very difficult for me. But Anna, the owner, encouraged me so much. She and the other girls helped me stick with it and get back into dancing. I have never felt embarrassed or unwelcome at this studio (I feel like that is so rare with dance studios!!).
