It primarily translates to "people of Nekelim" (or Nehalem), referring to a prominent Native American tribe that lived on the Oregon coast. I grew up on the mysterious mystic Oregon coast, and know much of its history, and good eats. Tillamook Creamery Coop started in 1909 is world class in my mind! And boy, has it grown an expanded! You can, order online, I do sometimes for their Jerky's. Their ice cream is killer, flavored cream cheese to die for, and what an array of excellent excellent cheeses. Now I get here in the South ( most stores), comfort food! To make my creamy hot macaroni with burnt ends! In the 60's we'd drive the 40 miles for the best cheese, shop the store, and watch them making the cheese, way fun! Still stop in when visiting, great memories, killer products.
