When the furnace wouldn't start they got it fixed the same day as when I called them. They made sure we weren't left in the cold.

Scheid Plumbing Heating & Cooling - Toilet installation for Lynn G.

Scheid Plumbing Heating & Cooling

(9 reviews)

We just moved to Whitehall from California and were referred to scheids plumbing for our plumbing…read moreneeds. They did such a great job that I felt it necessary to reach out and let others know how professional and dependable they are. The staff was wonderful and the technicians know their job. I will continue to use them for our plumbing needs in the future and I hope you would too.

I called to have new toilet installed in my home that I was putting up for sale. The plumber they…read moresent out was sooooo unprofessional. Because this particular plumber they were sending over had serviced another house of mine before, I allowed him to work without me being there. I trusted him! This house had been totally repainted; was clean; repaired; re-landscaped; and ready to be put on the market when the plumber finished the toilet installation that day, this one job! However, when the painter stopped by on the afternoon after the toilet installation, he found this roomy bathroom a mess!! Not only was the floor very dirty as you came into it, but also he found that, in the process of installing the toilet, the plumber had scraped up the wall adjacent to the toilet, marring the newly painted wall! So, the painter called me very upset, having just finished painting it days before. However, he told me not to worry, he would clean it up and repaint it, free-of-charge. However, after the painter cleaned up the bathroom and before he repainted it, he took pictures of the wall and sent them to me. Immediately, upset, I called Scheid's office and spoke with a woman whom I had gotten to know quite well over the years of using this plumbing/ HVAC company, explaining the problem. She said she found it unbelievable. I said the same after my years of experience with this company, but the pictures were the proof. Plus, the painter had no reason to lie; I had already seen his finished product!! Then, I asked to speak with the owner, Dan Scheid. She told me he was not there but said she would give him a message. Also, I got the information to send Dan copies of the photos. After all, the photos were proof of the wall being marred after the toilet installation. I sent Dan Scheid the photos, but when he called me back, he was very defensive and rude, saying his plumber would never have done that! He said he had a picture of the completed installation and sent it to me. Then, I understood why he was believing his plumber and not me. His plumber had taken a straight-ahead photo of the toilet with the adjacent wall showing no marring. The reason it did was because the wall is longer than the photo shows, and the plumber made sure to take the photo close enough so as not to be able to see the marred wall!! Although I had been a long-time customer for my home as well as my business properties, who had never complained, and to his credit, never had a reason to before. However, even though I had sent Dan Scheid the photos of the marred wall attributed to his plumber's carelessness when he called me back, Dan, the owner, chose to have a very poor attitude toward me about the incident where his plumber not only created a mess but also marred the newly painted wall, causing it to need to be repainted in order to be put on the market to sell!! Therefore, my only recourse was not to pay the bill and to not to use their services anymore! Believe me, I did not and have not since!! NOTE: Although the plumber's photo will not load for some reason, I am including the photo of the marred wall that happened during my toilet's installation

The Handyman Expert - Drywall had to be removed AFTER electrical was discovered to be incorrect and unsafe. Many code violations with hot wires hidden in walls

He came out an "fixed" it, but now it barely drags open and shut. The other project we had him do was replace the basement door that leads outside. We are in the woods and mice and chipmunks are always looking for a way into the house. I noticed I could see the daylight along the side of the door from inside the basement. Todd came out and put wood or something around the door. A few days later, I walked under our deck where this new door was installed to find all of the old stuff he removed was left behind. We are in our 70's. Did he expect us to haul it away? I'm glad that was all we used him for. He is a nice guy, but he overstates his skills.

Todd Schertzer has done some seventeen different projects for us during the past two years, all of…read morewhich had a satisfactory outcome. In my younger years, I used to do these sorts of things for myself; now we have to rely on others, and in judging their performance I consider whether they've done the job as well as I probably would have. Maybe there are some issues with expectations here. I look upon a "handyman" as a resourceful, experienced, hired hand ... not as a licensed contractor ... a "Mr. Fixit", not an engineer or builder. We generally use a "handyman" to fix things are broken, replace things that are worn out, or correct mistakes made by prior occupants of our 125+ year old home. If we're ever thinking about doing a major remodel or addition, we'll be looking for a reputable licensed contractor, not a handyman ... someone we can hold to top quality building and code-compliant standards. About refuse removal ... if you're working with a handyman, that'll be your responsibility. Light accumulations can probably be combined with your weekly trash pickup for free. Anything more that that will probably cost $200 to $400 to have someone haul away (GotJunk, Bagster, dumpster, etc.). Settle this issue with your hired hand before the work begins and it won't come as an unhappy surprise later.

We live in a 36 year old mobile home. Advanced plumbing first came out to fix a major hot water…read moreheater leak that we had. It was the middle of winter! They did a great job of helping us get everything repaired. They returned in the summer to repair a leak under the kitchen sink. And at 1am this morning (Dec 6) I called because of the sound of running water under the kitchen sink. They help me get the water shut off and came out in the morning to fix the outside faucet that had broken from ice falling on it. Everyone has been very helpful, professional and reasonably priced. I highly recommend them.

I had a traumatic experience with Mark Mikula from Advanced Plumbing after he was sent to my home…read moreby my neighborhood association's residential manager to address issues with odd noises coming from my pipes, toilet, and walls. Despite trying initial suggestions from the manager, the sounds worsened, and a certified plumber was called in. Mark arrived with an assistant, assessed the situation, and performed a repair on my toilet. Afterward, he informed me of the total charge for his services, expecting immediate payment in cash or by card. I calmly explained that my unit is owned by a family trust responsible for maintenance payments, and all previous services (heating, cooling, plumbing, pest control) had followed a standard procedure where I received an invoice post-service, which I then forwarded to the responsible party for payment. I clarified that I had not agreed to any specific payment policies with Mark beforehand and requested an invoice so I could expedite payment. I also attempted to contact the residential manager and the trust manager for assistance, but neither answered their phone. I did not challenge the fee or refuse payment, and when Mark created an invoice on his phone, I quickly forwarded it to the designated payor. However, things escalated when Mark, seemingly expecting immediate payment, began raising his voice and threatening to get "loud with me." When I stood my ground, he became more aggressive, stomping around, entering my bedroom without consent, and removing the part he'd just replaced. This behavior triggered me, and I demanded he leave. Mark refused, saying he would not leave without payment or the parts. I had to scream for help and pretend to call the police to get him to leave. As he exited, he yelled insults, including calling me "trailer trash." He and his assistant continued to heckle me as they left. Mark's behavior was disrespectful, invasive, and unprofessional. He escalated the situation instead of cooperating, and then later claimed that I was the aggressor in a video he allegedly recorded of me. If he genuinely felt scammed, there were proper legal channels to address that, but instead, he chose to make threats and disrupt my home. Mark is still demanding payment for work that he reversed by removing the part he installed. He initially refused to accept payment at a later date but is now requesting the bill be paid. Given his unprofessional conduct and the fact that the work was undone, I will not be paying him. In conclusion, I strongly advise against hiring Advanced Plumbing. Mark's behavior was appalling, and any confusion or disagreement will likely lead to disrespect and insults. His many negative reviews speak for themselves, and I will not be dealing with this company again.
