Had my clutch replaced and I wish I never had taken it here. After I got it back I had a transmission leak and a code for a faulty o2 sensor. Later I took it back and told him just for him to lie and say it was engine oil and that my sensor went out. Had them replace the sensor and took it home to have a line on my coolant reservoir blow off and the o2 code again as well as the same transmission leak. Looked around my car and found they broke a coolant reservoir and fixed it with jb weld.($140 out of pocket for the reservoir that I replaced plus $150 for the o2 sensor). Also noticed they cut my aftermarket exhaust and welded it(cause of the faulty o2 sensor that I paid them to replace) as well as my axle seals leaking from the transmission due to their inability to perform proper work. In the end they replaced the seals (after showing pictures)but I was left with almost an extra $300 worth of repairs plus my exhaust being cut and welded in the cheapest way possible due to their negligence. Not to mention they couldn't even put directional tires on the right side and how many weeks I was without a car through the process. Never again will they touch my vehicles or will I recommend to anyone. read more

BEWARE. the owner, Frank, employs UNTRUSTWORTHY CROOKS. One of his mechanics misrepresented himself and stole $920 from my mom who was unfortunately naive enough to give cash for a part that was needed. This man disappeared, never showed back up to work, stating he hurt his back. When I confronted the OWNER, Frank, he tells me this man has only been working for him a few days, he has no last name, no address or further information to offer me. Along with offering no sympathy or responsibility. Do not trust this establishment. They are all probably in on scamming naive old ladies. STOP.!! If you want to take your vehicle to a real mechanic and get it repaired, DONT go here. And if your having your girlfriend or wife take it to this guy, beware he will definitely hit on them as he did mine. His shop is the haunted house of auto shops. Many horror stories to be told of charging for nothing and returning the cars to there owner or worse charge and return only to break down. Take your chances but I'm betting this guy won't be open within a year partly because or his horrible reputation. Ask around. read more

Even though the diagnosis took a little longer than I would have liked, it was cheap to have my turn signal diagnosed AND fixed. The new part was ordered in a day and installed in 20 minutes and I got very good prices. I called around to 10 different shops in Paso Robles asking about labor per hour and Frank's definitely had the best prices. read more

I had a major engine failure and required a quick turnaround in order to maintain my work schedule (I travel extensively). Made a few calls and came across Frank. He sounded savvy and his price was extremely competitive, Further, he said he could have me back on the road in one day. Bottom line: he did what he said he would, when he said he would. I will take my vehicles to him until he gives me a reason not to, which I don't expect. This was a very positive experience and I recommend Frank very highly. He stays busy, works Saturdays and seems to go out of his way for people. That buys a great deal of good will, in my book. I had just sold my SUV to a wonderful couple. They had come to pick it up when I noticed the engine vibrating. The engine idle was not smooth and the new owner was concerned. We drove the SUV to Frank's auto repair in Paso Robles. He realized that if something was not done right at that moment I was going to lose the sale of the SUV. He put an analyzer on the SUV. Then he told us to go down to the auto supply store and buy a spark plug coil. The new owner and I got the part, came back to Franks, and within 20 minutes the new owner drove home. I was truly amazed that Frank took the time out of his schedule to help me with my immediate problem of loosing the sale of my SUV. My wife and I traveled to Paso Robles to see Cheech & Chong and War at the new Vino Robles Amphitheater. Great venue, by the way. It was the first show of the entertainment season. Got to town from Fresno/Clovis, no big deal. Then my 2000 Passat station wagon, which I've dumped all sorts of money into to maintain its roadworthiness, started misfiring. Badly. We were touring Paso, looking for a decent place to eat when it happened. It was Friday night, right before the show. Of course, that kind of thing could ruin a decent evening. We don't go out much, so this was a big deal. I got the car to limp to the show and limp back to the hotel. In the morning, my son back in Clovis surfed the internet Saturday morning looking for shops. My thought was to get the car to limp home and take my chances. My wife hated the idea. But I'm an old VW guy. That's what we do. We break down. Regularly. Unfortunately, I don't have a clue how to repair the electronics on the newer models. My son's search turned up Frank's Auto Repair. Armed with an address, we went to the shop, right in the heart of old town Paso. I met Frank. He had three guys working for him. On a Saturday. Who does that? Frank, obviously. Despite a stack of cars four deep Frank says, "No problem. Give me 40 minutes." I explained the problem. We walked off and had a nice breakfast at Vic's Cafe a few blocks away on 13th Street. I sucked down enough coffee to calm my nerves. I was thinking, "OK. Part issue. Come back in a week." In the meantime, I'd have to rent a car, take off time from work the next week to come back and pick up the rig. Or maybe Frank would refer me to another specialty shop, one that worked on pain in the neck German automobiles exclusively. I did feel better after breakfast. Somewhat content. Fed. But I expected the worst. That's usually my default. But there's Frank. He's got the hood up. I approach, tentatively. He says, "Third ignition coil. It was bad. I replaced it." He says it's ready to go. I'm ecstatic. For one, my wife won't kill me. She hates this car. I love it, despite its faults. The turbo four cylinder gets great mileage and rocks when it has to. Frank rings me up, explaining the bill. "$85 for diagnostic, $25 for labor." Total price: $168.97. Seriously. That's like nothing when you own a car like this. Frank is the man. And I'm very familiar with shops, prices and the like. read more

New to town and was looking for a good faithful mechanic like I had for the past 7 years. When i went to Franks i was hoping to find a friend and a good mechanic. Everything was written down before I left. When I got back it was not what we agreed upon, was quoted $305 for full tune up. It took from 9-4 and when I picked up my car we realized the transmission flush was not done. When I asked Frank about the flush he told me to bring it back next weekend and then I asked him how much extra and I was told another $180 . Wow because the $305 quoted was with the flush. Moving from California to Ohio, my husband and I called Frank's on a Saturday when we realized that our air conditioner wasn't cooling. Afraid of crossing through Nevada and Arizona in 100+ degree heat, we called Frank's for help as we approached Paso Robles. A local Toyota dealer had told us that we would need to wait a week for our car to be seen, but Frank's told us that if we brought the car in immediately, he would be able to work us in. He did. He recharged our air conditioner, didn't charge for testing our system, and was patient when we were in a panic. We couldn't be more grateful. The air conditioning has worked perfectly since. Frank was extremely kind and went out of his way to help us replace our alternator at 5.10 p.m. on a Monday night, when we were en route to LA. His willingness to stay and work late allowed us to get back on the road that same night, so we didn't have to pay to stay at a hotel, and to miss work the next day. We were on a trip from San Diego to Santa Cruz when the car began to overheat badly. Stranded on 101 2 miles outside of Paso Robles I called Frank (I found him on Yelp) and despite it being 5:30 on Saturday night he said we should come in - he'll wait for us. Had the car towed in. We had a cracked radiator. He replaced it and the thermostat and we were on our way by 8:30 and he charged less than what I likely would have paid at my usual shop.
