I can forgive the short staffed issues that took place tonight - totally get it. But the food on the other hand extremely disappointing. My dish was not only dry, but the mozzarella that was supposed to be in it was nonexistent, which at least might have improved the dry texture. It came burnt ( blackened areas) as if it were cooked twice. It seems like it was fully cooked and then maybe reheated. Or just over cooked begin with. The pasta and mushroom sauce was lukewarm at best looks like it was waiting for the chicken to be finished because the chicken was hot. The absolutely weirdest aspect was it tasted like seafood. My brother who tasted it said the same thing like it was cooked in a pan that just had clams in it. It left such an acrid, bad taste in my mouth and ruined the wine we were drinking I should've sent it back after the first attempt at a bite. But they were struggling so much with just getting to us I didn't want to do that. I've had a better experience before but I'm never coming back. I'm so sorry y'all I really really really wanted to like this. if I have to wait for some sort of normal service that doesn't happen and then get bad food on top of it and never hardly go out to eat it just made for a depressing evening. Went there with two friends last night,and we all enjoyed our meals. Being Friday evening[crowded],the hostess told us we'd have to wait "about 20 minutes" for a table. I really appreciate her timely estimation because[I don't like to wait,and - ] she beat her own time by two or three minutes. Ok so we have been using this place for a year now and I have to say they deserve more than three stars. Originally I gave them three because I heard they had a bad food inspection rating. The food quality has been on point each time we been there. And to be totally honest I can't think of another place that has the quality for the price. Either way if your looking for a place to frequent for Italian food I would recommend Frankies. Below is my original review. This place isn't a bad local italian eatery. Its not a five star place but its good for a family outing to a local joint. I will say that their pizza is amazingly good. We even ordered it for our daugters 1st bday party. I love this place. Always crowded, pizza is good everything I've tasted has been just like home in New York . They even have real clams and muscles delivered fresh. But .. this time I ordered a chef salad, which I very rarely do in a restaurant, and it was served with Kraft zesty Italian dressing. I was so disappointed. I was expecting some homemade vinaigrette. Ever since I moved to Georgia a long time ago, one thing I've noticed is that there's not a tremendous amount of Italian restaurants. Sure, you can get tacos, barbecue or pizza in just about any way shape or form, but I've often said that there just aren't a lot of Italian restaurants in the Metro Atlanta area, much less particularly good ones. I often noticed Frankie's whenever I pass it driving on Roswell Rd., but it wasn't until the better half had a hankering for some penne a la vodka, did we scope out their menu, confirm that they had vodka sauce, did we decide to give the place a whirl. Frankie's is located at the corner of Roswell Rd. and Old Canton Rd., in East Cobb, Marietta. I'd say they're closer to the Big Chicken rather than Old Mill, but they're relatively easy to find, since they're across the street from a QT gas station and they have a pretty large sign at the end of a tiny strip of stores. There's not a ton of parking, but going on a weekday evening prior to the popular 6 pm dinner time, it wasn't an issue for me. The interior is cozy. Not cozy in the sense that it's small and cramped, but cozy in the sense that it's a relaxed atmosphere, not loud and boisterous, pretty spacious, not overly decorated, but well established. We were seated in a booth immediately, and service throughout my experience was attentive and pleasant. I ordered rigatoni with chicken and broccoli, while my better half ordered her rigatoni a la vodka that she'd been jonesing for; pasta entrees come with your choice of soup or salad, as well as garlic rolls, and these particular entrees ranged $11-12ish. The salads are pretty standard, but let's talk about the rolls - Frankie's garlic rolls are legit. Like, signature good. At first glance, they look like some plain rolls, drizzled in minced garlic, olive oil and/or butter and herbs. But then you grab one and feel just how soft and fluffy they squish in your hands, and then you bite into them, and it's like biting into the fluffiest, airiest roll, straight out of a Pillsbury pastry commercial. Except it's exploding with flavor from the garlic and butter, and then you're relieved that you're experiencing this with your significant other because they're not going to get as grossed out when you double dip the other piece of the roll into the dish where all the extra oil, garlic and butter is sitting, waiting to enhance your next bite. That's how good Frankie's garlic rolls are. As for the pasta itself, I'm not going to pretend like I'm any sort of pasta savant or expert. I've been Italy, I've been to the little Italys in New York, Boston and most other major cities. I know what I like, but I'm definitely not the right authority to judge the doneness of pasta, or the guy who's going to dissect the sauces down to the age of the olives in which the oil was pressed from. My rigatoni was a nice al dente, so it had a tiny bit of chew to it, and it went well with the chicken and broccoli. I'm not going to be able to tell if it's premade or freshly made stuff, but I will say that it was good at holding flavor, and the fact that I polished my plate clean says it all. Likewise for the gf who said that this is what vodka sauce is supposed to taste like. As a whole, my experience was widely positive, and it kind of goes without saying that this is a great discovery, and I can very, very easily see Frankie's working its way into my rotation of restaurants, and the current go-to for whenever I'm in the mood for Italian food. It's places like Frankie's that make me wonder why garbage chains like Olive Garden even exist. I will say that I'm dinging them a star because I ordered an appetizer that was outright forgotten, but ultimately we weren't charged for it, and it just meant there was more room for a second round of garlic rolls. I will most certainly be back, as there are many more things on their menu that I'd like to try, and regardless of what, I'm definitely always going to be in the mood for their garlic rolls. read more

Lately the food has been hit or miss. I can honestly tell you the day time cook is better than the evening cook. I have no negatives on the staff. They have always been friendly and cordial. The only reasons I am giving a low rating is because after all the times I've eaten at this restaurant which I've ALWAYS called in for a to go order, the other day was my very first time I've ever used their restrooms. And man o man, they are horrible. Does anyone ever clean them? (Maybe that's the weird smell the restaurant gives off) The restaurant isn't funky, it just smells antique. Like when you go to your grandparents house type. But after I came from the restroom I decided I will not be eating here anymore. If they don't keep the back area the customers can access clean, who knows what they are doing in the kitchen. That and the fact that the evening chef can't get meals right to save their lives. There is no reason I'm adding Alfredo to my chicken Alfredo when I get home and my chicken Marsala should not be dry. If you want to try this place. Take your chances with the daytime chef. I decided to try Frankie's again and sat at the bar a couple weeks ago to make a to go order. The bartender didn't introduce herself but she had bleached blonde hair and a too-small shirt. I waited about five minutes to be greeted and given a menu. After that, the service was extremely slow. As I sat there waiting for my order, I witnessed a few things that put me off from returning to Frankie's: the bartender was being standoffish to some of the servers and under her breath I heard her call another server a bad name. She was also seeming to ignore another customer who was sitting at the bar. These things are unacceptable and I will let my friends and family know all about this pitiful experience. read more

Decided to choose this place for Yelp's "night in" dinner. The location is right off a main road and is easy to see from the street. The parking lot is large so don't worry there. You can't see inside because the windows are blacked out but it gives you the feeling of wanting to see what's going on inside. My order to go was a cheese pie and my girl had fettuccine Alfredo. I ordered over the phone and the food was ready in about 20 min. I went inside to the bar to pick up my order and they had almost a full staff working, which was nice to see this location still providing workers with jobs! I went to the bar and my food was ready. My pie was decent but not mind blowing. The size of the pie was nice but I wish the slices were a bit more cheesy. The sauce also lacked a bit in flavor. It's a pizza you'll get when you're at home with nothing to cook but I'm not sure if you'll go out of your way for it. Solid italian restaurant. I would even say they are the best in the area with decent price points. The downfall here is, there is typically a long wait (25-40 min) before the lunch entree comes out. I can't speak on dinner as I've never had the pleasure of going past 2pm. The fried cheese is great, but if you're a cheese lover like me, the cheese bread will definitely be the better option. The garlic rolls...I won't say anything about them but to just try them to marvel in their greatness XD. I always get either the baked ziti or the lasagna (prepared for a carnivore of course) and have never been disappointed. I've been sick for the past 48 hours since eating here. Let me first off start by saying I'm a COVID crisis nurse. I had one day off this week and I stopped by for curb side pick up. I ordered, and my food was brought to me by a hostess at the curb side. I handed her the receipt back after signing and she goes "thanks for your generosity" and proceeded to roll her eyes. The morning after consuming food here resulted in me having nausea and vomiting. I couldn't hold anything down despite medication. I spent hours on our toilet. And no. It want COVID. So I'll leave you will this, the food is mediocre, just like the staff who drives a car with a bumper sticker on it that says "send nudes" And you will get sick. Very sick for consuming food here. Best to eat at home. And stay there. Update when I called for a refund they asked for a receipt even though they kept the copies of them I have my credit card statement with the purchase on the receipt and they said they couldn't refund it because it's to many orders to look through. UPDATE: Awhile back Frankie's changed their fried calamari appetizer to something they call calamari steak. Calamari there went from great to terrible. Doesn't taste like calamari, as far as I know it could be carp. Maybe they saved $, but lost me as an appetizer customer. Sad change. This is our "GO TO" Italian restaurant in Marietta and we've be coming here for 10+ years at least. EVERYTHING is good! Love the calamari as an appetizer, egg plant parmigiana, anything with seafood and their marina sauce is to die for! Oh, the salad is WONDERFUL!! Lots of the waiters are students, some from our neighborhood and are friends kids. We tip them "above and beyond." Just a GREAT PLACE... I never thought I'd say Olive Garden sounds gourmet Salad is trash, "garlic rolls" (dried stale rolls and not a hint of garlic) are trash. Was hoping my local "Italian eatery" would be okayish..... but oofff. Manicotti was overcooked and rubbery. The chicken saltimboca was completely flavorless and If that was prosciutto then slap me silly and call me Oscar Meyer. The whole time we were eating it all I could think was "I hope I don't get food poisoning. But you know I did waste $50 on this so....so regretting many life decisions right now. Frankie's is my rock bottom, at least I hope so... please God. My husband wants me give 2 stars cause the chocolate tort and cannoli were decent but F that. I don't write a ton of reviews but I have to say, Frankies is a new family favorite. Been twice this week and the food is fantastic. Had the pasta primavera a few days ago, it was fabulous. The spinach and chicken ravioli was INSANELY good tonight. Kelly, who was an amazing server, recommended the pasta fagioli as my starter. Its not something I would normally order. It was so good that I ordered a portion to take home for lunch tomorrow. My brother is very picky about his stromboli and he loved his. Devoured it all in 15 mins as well as 3 delicious garlic rolls. Checked at bar and server went back to check on status. She came back and told me they " were bagging it up." Waited another 10 minutes and order was finally served. Server apologized but didn't seem very concerned about delay. Apparently this is the norm. Restaurant should inform guests that they do not start order until you arrive for pick up. read more

I've been coming here for years and basically I get the same thing Linguini with red clam sauce, and the minestrone soup. I've had other things on the menu all good but like this one in particular. The food always good, prices always reasonable and the staff really nice. The one thing I would change has nothing to do with the restaurant per say but a policy. Thursday we were in the restaurant trying to enjoy our meal and another patron was not only on his cell phone but had it on speaker. Nobody gave a crap about your trip to Vegas or what you were doing after you dropped off your daughter at gymnastics after dinner. Obviously the pack of wolves that raised you will enjoy seeing you at Thanksgiving. Hopefully the restaurant won't have to institute a policy on cell phone use but, there is always that one person who ruins it for everyone. When we lived in the Atlanta area, going to Frankie's was a wonderful date night for us. The food was always superb, the service was always wonderful. Even when we moved away, we would meet friends and loved ones at Frankie's for dinner when we came home to visit because we always knew the dinner would be special. This past weekend, I came home for a medical conference. Wanting to impress my colleagues with a wonderful dinner in an atmosphere that would accommodate a social gathering of business professionals, I invited them to join me for for dinner at Frankie's. I knew a Saturday night would be busy so I set a reservation. At one time this was where adults went for adult dinner, and when children were present, they were well behaved. You could have an intimate conversation. But this is no longer that atmosphere. What I didn't anticipate was the near Chuck E. Cheese environment we encountered. It was loud and so crowded with people that you couldn't hardly move between tables. We were near a large party that was mostly children. I never thought of Frankie's as an establishment where sports teams and scouts came for a pizza party. One good thing was the hostess was pleasant, professional, and communicated clearly that our table was clearing and that our wait would only be a few minutes. Things started off good. Our server, Andy, was quick to greet us and take our drink orders. My colleagues ordered a bottle of wine, which should not have taken so long to arrive. I ordered a boat of the Gorgonzola sauce for dipping what was once really good garlic bread bites/garlic knots. The sauce came before the bread, which is now pre-made dinner rolls swimming in liquid margarine. The sauce was amazing though, thick and savory. I bragged to my colleagues about my favorite dish, the Veal Gorgonzola. The sauce sold it. Three of four ordered the Gorgonzola, the other had Lasagna. What we received was dishes with thin cream sauce and none of the Gorgonzola flavor. In the past, the entree always arrived with thick and savory sauce that still had soft warm chunks of Gorgonzola. We couldn't even see any trace of Gorgonzola. Unfortunately, once our entrees arrived, our server turned his attention to other tables. I never got a refill on my tea. My colleagues that shared the bottle of wine were never offered more wine or any drink alternatives after it was gone. When we did finally speak to our server and conveyed our disappointment with the dishes, we were dismissed with his assurance that there was in fact Gorgonzola in the dish and he walked away. Simply having the dishes re-fired with more Gorgonzola would have only taken a few minutes, however we had to ask a second time. At this point our server was now becoming agitated and something easily fixed became an unnecessary ordeal. His solution was to bring out two 2oz plastic portion cups of sauce for three dishes of pasta that was already very wet with the original sauce. When I tasted the sauce it was also very bland. I tried to explain that this was not what we were asking for he got angry and walked off. This was an issue from the kitchen, but we feel he took it personally. We understand that he isn't preparing the meals. He never came back until he returned to ask how we would like to handle (split) the check. Three of us had barely touched our meals and he was asking about paying for them. We asked for a manager. Kevin, the manager comes to the table with an attitude, not really listening to what we were asking for, just set on getting us out the door quickly. Asking to have my now very cold dish re-fired was an obvious imposition. We were upfront by saying we were not looking for a free meal, or a discount, that we wanted to enjoy our meals and continue our dining experience, and that we were deferring to him for resolution. Honestly, I feel that because we had all spend three days in professional attire at a medical conference, and had arrived in very casual dress, that we were pre-judged to be low class and looking for freebies. His statement of "when people like you just go on and on and on, it's obvious you're looking for something out of it" was offensive. *People. Like. You* This was the turning point of our experience where a long time customer decides to never come back and three other first time customers decide to never come back, and all four of us decide that we will share our experience in hopes that others avoid our experience. FOOD: 4 PASTA, PASTA, PASTA - definitely their forte. I don't personally know what authentic Italian food taste like, but Frankie's make theirs rich, creamy, flavorful, and smooth. We ordered the seafood fettuccine, eggplant parmigiana, fettuccine carbonaara (with bacon!!), and angel hair with clam sauce - all of which I would recommend! I thought the eggplant parmigiana could have came with a bit more of marinara sauce though, it got kind of dry at the end. SERVICE: 1 We've been here multiple times, and it appears that the culture at Frankie's is slow dining with focus only on dining. Our waiter came to us minimally, only for the times he had to (to order, to bring food, and to give us the check.) I am usually used to waiters that come around multiple times while you dine to check on whether you need anything else. We also asked the waiter to take a photo for us, which he rudely said, "yes" to but never came back to do it. We then asked the hostess to take a photo for us, who then pushed the job to another waiter. This waiter was clearly in a rush and responded judgmentally to our request for him to stand closer to the center so we can all be in the picture. IT'S A FREAKIN' PICTURE, YALL?! Can you not just take one second and let us keep this wonderful memory of dining together at Frankie's? I have been to Frankies several times over the past twenty years. The only good thing about this establishment are the servers. My husband and I are from New York and have both worked over a decade each at famous Italian restaurants. We know Italian food, cooked by Italians chefs from Italy. Our last visit to Frankies was horrendous at best. We ordered the calamari to start. Here comes some calamari steak sticks! What the hell is this? I called the manager over, who by the way was a condescending jerk. I asked him if these were frozen and he said " Yes, that's how we serve it here." Very good food and service. This was our first time here and we picked it because of its central location to a couple we were meeting from West Cobb and we are from Roswell. That made it about 25 min from each of us. It was worth the trip. The prices were a little high, but not too bad. The food was very good and the selection was fantastic. I thought long and hard how to address our last visit to Frankie's. On Saturday I called to make sure of their hours and to make a reservation. The woman on the phone said a reservation wasn't necessary. We went there yesterday around 4 o'clock. There were 5 of us. We had 2 elderly people with us one had a walker. We stood in front of the hostess stand for a while until they could seat us because we didn't have a reservation. I explained that I called and was told a reservation wasn't necessary. The owner, Kevin said that maybe I called d the wrong restaurant because there is another Frankie's on Canton Hwy. we were still standing and waiting. They were still deciding they could accommodate us. I was livid and I told Kevin that he was the owner and he wasn't showing good customer service skills to his employees. We were still standing. They finally sat us and we ordered. Food was ok not as good as usual. A few dishes were not hot. When we went to pay our check, Kevin comped the whole meal which was VERY nice but the unwelcome feeling just could not be erased. Next time we will have to think twice about returning or recommending this restaurant to others. This is a shame since we have been going there for over 20 years. read more

We've been in East cobb for 10 years and tried different pizza places in the area and settled on Frankie's. THEY HAVE REALLY GONE DOWN HILL THE LAST 12 months. Their quality control is sorely lacking. The last one we received was really burned - badly. There's no way this pizza should been sold. We typically check before we leave but my son picked it up and he didn't look. We will go back to get our free pizza (since they owe us one from tonight's fiasco), but not sure if we will be back after that.
