After a heavy night I took my friend here for brunch. On the outside it looks closed. Walking up the stairs exposes a open kitchen and large seating area with cacti everywhere and a cool kat clock over looking the place. The service was enjoyable from start to finish..90 percent of staff including the chef looked genuinely happy to be working there dancing to the music smiling as they cooked and served. It gave it a buzz! The menu consists of well..a American diner..from the special board I chose the maple pecan nut shake and the Benny crab cakes.. my friend had the spinach and poached eggs dish with fresh mint tea. The Shake was huge and yummy and while I waited for my food I kept seeing indulgent stacks of pancakes being whisked away. My poached eggs were oozy and perfect and the crab cakes.. well very crabby! And rich..to break it up there was water melon on the side which refreshed the palette. My friend really enjoyed hers too. I really want to come back here :( please extend your opening times!!

The old railway building. Thanks yelp for making me aware. They have a lunch special with a selection of burgers and a chicken sandwich for £10 (at the time of this review 07/2023). That includes a side of fries. I noticed every restaurant that you walk In the host will ask you about any allergies or intolerances. If you let them know you're they will let you know what to avoid. Or if they do not know they will send you a manager who knows. There must have been a huge problem with allergies and it is a great way to avoid it. It is, in the beginning, a bit annoying until you realize it is actually a good thing (I wonder if Mcdonald's to the same - I'll might have to try that). So I ordered the chicken burger with a breaded fried chicken breast some black pepper mayo sauce some salad, Onions, and a slap of avocado. WOW - the nicely tasting breaded chicken was fried to perfection and it was a really big piece without drying out. Good job! the "burner" was definitely the combination of chicken and that avocado spread mixed in With the black Peppercorn mayonnaise - an almost perfect bite. The bun was not too big to get in the way of tasting what's important all other ingredients have been fresh and am tasty the fries also fried to a crisp state without being burned. Hands down a surprisingly great burger. Oh, I will be back - the service was five starts as well quick, knowledgeable, and friendly!

Since the refurbishment a month or so ago, it's looking very suave, with copper everywhere - the bar, tables, stools and lighting all giving off this orange tinge. I quite like it. The staff in here are great, and the cocktails even more so.

I don't think Walrus is really geared up for a lunch time spot. We won a 'free' lunch. We booked in as told. We went in at this time and waited at the bar to speak to someone. This took longer than it should, as there only appeared to be one member of staff. We were clear that we had booked and mentioned the prize. They would have to check with a manager. So no record of the 'booking' then. We had to get this checked another 3 times during our visit. Each time adding another 5 minutes to our 'express' lunch. In the end it took around 15 mins before we'd even ordered. It was nearly an hour until we had our Calzones, and we had no time to try and enjoyed them as like most people, we have to be back at work. The Cazlones weren't worth the wait. I'd expect more burger than 3 small slices in something called a Cheeseburger Calzone. And the 'free' lunch cost us £8 in total, which seemed steep for not even a pint of meantime. You may say I'm a dreamer. But I expected more, even if it was a free lunch. We didn't feel like winners by the end of it all.

TGI Fridays at the Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre is located just outside the Manchester…read moreArndale, opposite Boots on Cross Street so is in an ideal location for hungry shoppers in the city centre, or those just out and about in Manchester. I've visited this TGI Fridays a couple of times now over the past couple of years, and I always seem to have issues, with this place not meeting the regular TGI Fridays standards at all, compared to nearby locations in Prestwich, Cheadle and The Trafford Centre, which are very good. The interior is dark, but they've tried to make it pretty cool with the large TGI Fridays writing on the wall, the motorbike at the front, and the number of booths. It's pretty large inside too, so there are plenty of tables, as it's the only TGI Fridays in the city centre with the Piccadilly Station one closing, this is useful. One thing which has remained consistent over the years and with other TGI Fridays is that a manager must take my order as I have an allergy, but this even included drinks - it felt annoying to be separated from the rest of my party when I wanted anything. On my most recent visit, I had the New York Strip steak with a Long Island Iced Tea, I do think the steak is a little pricey for a non-specialist chain, and for the quality. When it came, it was very tough, dry and fatty, even though I ordered it to be medium, so it wasn't a very good cut of steak at all. Both steak sauces also contain gluten, so I had to order BBQ sauce, which tasted great with the fries... but the steak not so much. The Long Island was good though, and the foam on the top was unlike most I've had before. They have regular offers on the cocktails too via their loyalty scheme, making it easy to get one for free or at a reduced price near and then. The mobile signal in the restaurant is also non-existent, despite it being fine just outside, so I'm not sure why that is, there is WiFi though which works after you fill in the tedious form. The staff seemed nice enough and did apologise for being unable to assist with my order due to company policy. 2* - The staff are friendly enough and the drinks are good, that's pretty much it, I wouldn't come back for food but I wouldn't rule out returning for drinks only.

The decor is great and I enjoyed sitting in for a few a people watching inside the restaurant and through the window. I really like the concept here, but reading other reviews indicates that maybe they don't use it to the full potential. I absolutely love American Diners as they take me back to my glory days in the states, so I do hope that when I come back to try the food they've made a few improvement as I would love this to become my new spot when I need my Yank-fix. My friends ordered a hot dog and a burger, both of which were good. Dogs 'n' Dough - kiev fries (2015)

Aw I really liked it here!…read more For some reason I got totally ravenous at around 2145 and started freaking out about all the restaurants closing and could only think of this one nearby that might still be open so basically kept saying "Dogs n Dough" "Dogs n Dough" over and over again until Rana M capitulated and escorted me to that over-mentioned establishment. Inside was very American but sort of authentically (although I can't really tell anymore). There's a lot of dark green leather and a Rolling Rock sign. Owner/manager impressed me by saying they would keep serving until at least 11pm basically to do more business. EXACTLY. THAT IS THE CORRECT ATTITUDE. No hipster prancing about looking-moody-instead-of-serving-people-here. My small business heart was deeply gratified. Our server was also excellent, quick and attentive. They have what I will boldly declare as the best strawberry ice cream milkshake in Manchester and also a great looking list of cocktails that are £4.50 during happy hour and can be eaten alongside various delicious snacks. Food wise, the dogs, as Andrew Y. mentioned, have a rather odd hard outer skin but I actually quite liked that. I didn't realise my burrito dog would actually come in a wrap, but it was pretty tasty. Next time I want the one with Doritos. Or the Reuben. There's a lot of choice. There is also a MAC N CHEESE PIZZA whaaaaat. Sides: onion rings were giant, and good, and chilli cheese fries were as always a delight. Do not come here if you are on a diet. I will obviously be back here ASAP. FYI all the dogs are 100% beef.

And to be honest I've been meaning to…read moregive them a try for quite a while but only tended to remember about them when I walk past their neon lights directing them down Bow Lane, near St Peter's Square in Manchester City Centre, but it's usually not when I'm looking for food. This time I made a point of finally going to visit. I like that at night it feels a bit secretive being down a little side street, then down into a basement restaurant. Inside feels reflective of being outside at night too, with theatrical lighting, neon signs, and dark wooden furniture. One thing about the decor I particularly liked was the cartoon drawing all over of various hot dogs. When I asked the staff about these, they apparently originate with a guy who travelled all around the USA trying the speciality hot dogs, then drawing them as posters. What a job! It's a good talking point and unique as a decoration, I'll say that much! The atmosphere is friendly and cosy, people laughing and chatting whilst trying bits of each others pizzas and hotdogs. The menu has great tongue-in-cheek names for their offered dishes, and in the drinks menu I was happy to see that there was a large selection of soft drinks available for those of us who don't drink, including imported US sodas that aren't easy to come by here. It's so nice to find somewhere doing soft drinks other than the standard Coke/Fanta/Sprite fountain guns. We chose a root beer and a Dr Pepper Cherry Vanilla (although a Pepsi Cherry Vanilla came out, we didn't realise until afterwards because it was still pretty damn tasty). You're also given a bottle of water per table so you can enjoy your drinks rather than feeling you've rushed them due to thirst. Staff were friendly and enthusiastic, as well as knowledgeable of their product and environment. We were told how things were served, the types of pizza, hot dog sausage types etc, and when we decided to order some fries to share instead of a starter, the guy serving us observed this and told us that if we wanted to share the hot dogs that we'd ordered, they could be cut in half in the kitchen so we could easier share. That's a nice idea for couples and friends, I like it. I was very much considering the mac bites as a starter, but thought it best not to overfill before the main! We ordered the Kiev Fries, which were cheese, garlic butter, and herb crumb. Very tasty, and genuinely did taste like chicken kiev which gave me a giggle. We both took ages to decide what to have for our main, and instead of pizza we decided to go for the hot dogs. I ordered Cheesus Christ Superstar (heh) which was three cheese and caramelised red onion chutney. I was a bit surprised that the cheeses in question were melted slices of cheese rather than a sauce or grated cheese, but it worked, although I think a bigger serving of the caramelised red onion chutney would be better to balance out the cheese with the sweet. My partner ordered The Cowboy, which was house chilli, nacho cheese, crispy bacon, jalapeños and sour cream. He tells me that although it was very tasty, and the beef frank was great in flavour, it could perhaps have done with a little extra chilli. However, we were both impressed, and it certainly didn't come close to breaking the bank. So for good quality hot dogs in a pleasant atmosphere for pretty damn good value, definitely give these guys a visit! We will definitely be returning to try the other hot dogs, the starters, the pizza menu, maybe some of the drinks and th...in fact... well.. lets just say we'll definitely be going back!
