Okay, so... I can't accept this restaurant as "American" dining. I mean, appearance-wise, yes! Actual taste of food? No. I'm an American transplanted in Manchester, so I was overjoyed to think that I could get actual bacon (you call it "streaky" bacon) and pancakes while slurping down a vanilla shake. These items are available, but the pancakes are too heavy and basically taste of cake with a splash of syrup, and the vanilla shake is so meagre (where's the overflow mixing cup?!). I've been back a couple times and tried a few other items: burger (basic), "mini"-corndogs (not actually mini corndogs), and a full-American breakfast (basically an English breakfast with pancakes instead of baked beans). I can't recommend this place to visiting Americans. Decor is spot on for 50s-style Americana, but the food is less than mediocre. Such a shame!

The atmosphere perfectly captures the all Americana style diner. It feels fun and happy days esc... Just without the Fonz, for which I am sad. The staff are friendly and the burger (although free) was gorgeous and tender, if not a tad small, but hopefully that's as they are a sample, as if that was £9 I'd probably be a bit less enthused. In a town FULL of former burger joints with the all American wow factor, this place makes its mark and stands out nicely as something unique and fun. Will review the coffee another day, hopefully it lives up to the rest of the place ;)

Infamous Diner is a new and upcoming restuarant located on the edge of the Northern Quarter just across the road from Shudehill metro and bus station. It's a very good replica of an American Diner, serving the typical burgers, ribs, milkshakes and grilled cheese type sandwiches - definitely not a place to go if you're on a diet. There's a juke box, a popcorn machine, a wall full of American number plates, tv screens showing classic old movies and that's before I even have a chance to mention the serving staff and their adorable 1950's style uniform, the red leather booths and the rotating bar stools at the bar. All staff were cheerful and happy to assist, which adds to the American style atmosphere. A table had been booked for 9 of us on a Wednesday evening. Whilst waiting for everyone to arrive we sat at the bar and ordered drinks. There's a good selection of drinks to pick from, ranging from freshly prepared milkshakes, bottled and tapped beer, wines, loads of cocktails as well as fizzy drinks and juice. One of our party was running a little late but the staff were happy for us to sit at our table and enjoy our drinks and didn't pressure us to order. I ordered the Big Mac(aroni) burger with curly fries (there's the option to have different types of fries instead of just standard ones with your meal at no extra cost). This burger consisted of macaroni and cheese covered in breadcrumbs and fried into a patty which was served between fresh white bread and garnished with salad. On top of the burger were three giant onion rings - pretty much the same diameter as the burger itself. All aspects of the meal were cooked to perfection and it was absolutely delicious. I believe that the portion sizes are a little too generous. I don't think anyone at the table finished their entire meal and it was ashame to see food going to waste. The toilet doors in the female restroom definitely need a look at, I don't think anyone in my party managed to successfully lock the door! I'd definitely say that this restuarant is worth a visit, espacially if you're in the mood for a greasy burger or something else equally as naughty. I'm gunna head back sometime in the future to try out their breakfast as they do the typical American pancake breakfast - yum.

My first experience of the Infamous Diner and probably not at the best time of day. I was in town quite early and looking for somewhere serving breakfast where I hadn't been before so I ended up here. The diner is beautifully decorated as a 50's/60's American diner with appropriately matched music from the likes of Jonny Cash and Elvis Presley. The breakfast menu is somewhat limited. Choices are basically a muffin or pancakes. I think I made the wrong choice. I chose a sausage and egg muffin. There wasn't anything fundamentally wrong with it, but it wasn't particularly good either to justify the £4.50 price tag. The sausage tasted like it was of good quality but it was a bit too herby tasting causing it to overpower the taste of the muffin. Had a cup of tea with my muffin but was never offered a free refill. Where's the American experience there?

After checking out the pics done by Lucas, I bookmarked this place straight away. Food looked epic. So unbeknownst to us, we arrived on the softlaunch. It was horrible weather and we were more than happy to escape this..however although the restaurant was mostly empty we got turned away and asked to come back while they were transitioning from breakfast to the lunch menu... We put our name down and went for a drink elsewhere. Returning an hour later we were told there were still no tables despite it not being at full capacity...when we started to kick off the waitress suggested a side table seat with tall stools...we accepted but had that feeling these Seats had been available the entire time. Finally perched, we investigated the menu... Here this place offers a 60's American food style to match the decor...hotdogs, burgers, chicken wings and pulled pork...the service was okay, represented by ladies dressed in Lindey bop polka dot dresses...we were lucky to get one vibrant Scottish lass who made our experience pleasant through out. We both ordered a milkshake each, Himself ordered the hotdog topped with chilli and I the Mac and cheese burger. While we waited I found it astounding how many people were turned away..yet the restaurant was half full...I really did not understand why... Anyway the milkshakes arrived, which were served in very slender glasses ...my banana (which should have been vanilla) was tasty but was gone in a single slurp..definitely expensive for what I got. The food was a good portion..and okay . .but not memorable..and for the price (excluding soft launch 20% discount) I rather pop over to Solitas around the corner. Overall a bright inviting place but doomed to fail. The seating plan is terrible so you will never get enough people in...the menu choice is easy to exhaust, and the prices a bit steep considering the lack of creativity.. The waitress we had was lovely..but not enough to come back..sorry.. oh and they almost charged us for three main courses.

I visited here on Sat 13 of Feb for breakfast. Had never there before and wanted to try it out. It has a great American diner feel, a real throw back to the 1970's, with music playing in the background. They do an all breakfast but I had to go for the pancakes with maple syrup and bacon. The pancakes were light and fluffy and the bacon perfectly crisp, would definitely go back for more. Overall it's definitely a very quirky restaurant but it has a great feel and would recommend the breakfasts. Im looking forward to going back and trying other items on the menu.

    The boys idea of brunch...
    Charlotte E.

Came here for some brunch, if you're looking for something healthy then avoid at all costs, the lightest things I could see were a bowl of cereal (£2) or a three stack of pancakes (£3.50) additional to this, the only fresh fruit on site is a banana or strawberry/blueberry compote.... My friend got the Big Mac burger (macaroni cheese) and wasn't the most impressed, and especially didn't like the coleslaw. The boys both got the heavy weight breakfast which all vanished very quickly so was the winner of the day! Service seems very friendly :) It's ok as somewhere different to try, wouldn't be rushing back any time soon though.

We visited on a Saturday aiming for brunch but they stop serving breakfast items at 12pm. Anyhoo, as I got there early, I managed to secure one if the booths by the window for our group. The place is very impressive! The ceiling is shiny and the lights are dazzling. The staff are dressed as if they were ready for some rock n rollin' too! It was authentic looking without resembling a Friday's. The food was good, perfect if you like American diner food. We had Hash and Eggs - slightly too greasy (for me) potatoes, beef brisket and onions which were perfectly seasoned topped with two fried eggs; The Elvis toastie - perfect balance of sweet with savoury bacon and then dusted with cinnamon sugar; Bacon, Tomato and Cheese toastie and a Heavyweight Breakfast which is not as scary as it sounds! We got some sides to share - Mac and Cheese and Coleslaw. The food was quite good overall! The alcoholic milkshakes helped turned this into a bit of a boozy brunch! As it was the third week of January, we got 30% off our bill as part of their after Christmas promotion! If you visit this week, there's a whopping 40% off! Will definitely make room to visit again!

I think I have a bit of a love hate relationship with this place, I came here after a business meeting on my own after being told about the milkshakes (those who know me know that milkshakes to Hannah are as cookies are to the Cookie Monster). I was directed to a table by a kind man shouting from behind the bar. The tables were slightly sticky, but other than that it was clean. Standard American diner style decor, and comfy enough seats. It was fairly quiet for a weekday lunchtime, and I plumped for a big salad, and a peanut butter-jelly (American jelly, not English jelly, so peanut butter and jam, thanks) milkshake, which I was particularly excited about. A quick eat for me is always ed's or ok diner, so I'm used to their generous milkshake sizes, so I won't deny I was pretty disappointed when mine arrived. It did taste lovely, but it was less than half the size of an ok/eds shake, for a very very similar price, which I assume is how they chose that price point, so I do find it a little bit cheeky! Also guys, please please consider stronger/wider straws! It's hard to sup up peanut butter and jam through thin plastic bargain buys, and makes a real difference! The salad was lovely, If a little dressing heavy. Over all, it was a decent enough Neal and the staff were very attentive, but I feel like I wasn't really getting my money's worth. For over £20 for one person (I know this isn't a huge amount, but still) it kind of felt they were pricing themselves at the same level as other diners, but cutting corners with quality and quantity. There was a bit more of a range, but this didn't offset it im enough to warrant the lesser value for money.

Absolutely love this place. As soon as you walk through the door i felt like i was in a movie. I heard alot of good and bad things about this place. But wanted to try for myself and what better way than breakfast. We were seated on arrival. And given a menu. I ordered a latte. Pancakes with maple syrup and Nutella. They dud a large stack of 5 or a short stack of 3. I chose the short stack as that was more than enough. They were delicious really soft and fluff. Glad i didn't order the large stack as 3 was enough. In Fact I struggled to eat my last of but i wasn't going to waste it. I would say the diner is a winner from me and will be back soon

As you walked in, it was like walking into a USA diner. There was a 20 minute wait, so we went to the bar and got a couple of drinks. As the tables became vacant, they got them cleaned and sat you down straight away. On the menu, one side is full of drinks and the other side it's full of all the different food available e.g. ribs, chicken in a basket etc.. Being an American diner, I decided to have a burger with curly fries and a Knickerbocker glory to finish. The price came to £20 which I thought was reasonable. I would go back but try something different next time.

I went here with a group of 14 on a Saturday afternoon. It's very near Shudehill and the decor is fab. They also serve prosecco so for that I'm not going to give one star, but for me this is where the good experience ended. There was very little on the menu I could have as almost everything contains gluten or dairy products. I finally managed to settle on steak and eggs, with gluten-free fries. As I'm not a fan of runny egg, I asked for my egg to be beaten. The food came out in dribs and drabs, with some of us waiting a lot longer to be served. When my meal finally came, my egg was scrambled. When I checked how it was cooked, it had been prepared with cream. I decided to leave at this point. Definitely don't recommend if you have any food intolerances; probably okay for everyone else.

Well a little bit of an all American dinner right here in Manchester, I loved the booths we sat in, the atmosphere was fun, staff very authentic in their 50's style dresses. I had pancakes with maple syrup and crispy bacon (delicious) it was a fun way to chill out over breakfast

Originally seeming to be named New Yorker Diner, it doesn't have a diner vibe, so instead is now presenting itself as American Street Food, serving burgers, waffles and chicken, gourmet burgers, and some other American sides too, as well as milkshakes and Belgian Waffles. It doesn't have a huge range, but what it has it does well. As you descend the steps into the diner itself, it's got that industrial look that most of the Northern Quarter is doing at the moment, complete with bare brick walls, wood cladding, and filament bulbs. Definitely not the Ed's Easy Diner style 50's American diner. Also, it's not a full service restaurant, but in fact a counter-service place with a dining area. The menu is simple but appetising, with some really tasty offerings and at a price that is very reasonable for Manchester City Centre, especially with some of the lunch deals available. I went to the counter and ordered the "American Boy" burger with fries and a Cherry Coke. The friendly staff member gave me a flashing/buzzing box similar to what you get when waiting for seating at big chain restaurants on a Saturday night, and said it would buzz/flash when my meal was ready for me to collect. Handy. The food was ready, and what I got was very tasty indeed. The burger, although not pink, was cooked through, but still juicy, and the trimmings were perfect, although the 'Brooklyn Sauce' built up spice pretty quickly for me, so I'd probably skip that next time. The fries were really good! Properly hot and crisp, and seasoned perfectly meaning the sachets of salt I picked up were never touched! Wythenshawe in South Manchester isn't really known as a gastronomic destination. The majority of…read morerestaurants listed for the area are take-aways and cafes, all of which I'm sure are great in their own regards, but they're all pretty similar. This is why I like The Met Stop Diner. Someone decided to take a vacant space in Wythenshawe's town centre Civic Centre shopping precinct and build an American themed diner. Something different! A new angle! When you walk in, it's nice to see that they haven't half-baked it, they've gone for the full classic American diner interior, with red, white and chrome seating, condiment baskets, and a big mural of the New York skyline on one wall. The menu does try to cater for multiple tastes, with some classic English cafe classics such as the Full English Breakfast, but they have a good selection of American breakfasts too, as well as hot dogs, burgers, deli style sandwiches, and a few house specialities. My favourite part of England meets America was that on the tables there was one of those little silver ice cream dishes, which we came to realise were specifically for putting your tea bag in after taking it out of your tea! WHY DON'T MORE PLACES DO THIS?! This is such a simple idea, but I've only seen The Met Stop Diner do it so far, and they're American themed! There were three of us on this day, and we were all ready for breakfast, and so chose the American pancake stack, the Full English Breakfast, and the American Breakfast, as well as three mugs of tea. The tea came out first which was good as we all needed a brew, but as the breakfasts were cooked fresh to order, we'd drunk our tea by the time our food came out. A pot of tea might be a better idea, but it's not very American! The Full English was a standard cafe breakfast to be honest, but still decent homely stuff. The American breakfast was so substantial that it couldn't be finished, but it was agreed that the pancakes were great, as they were also on the stack of pancakes. Very enjoyable indeed. We'll definitely pop in again when we're next in the area, as the rest of the menu looks great too! The only thing I would suggest is reprinting the menus (as they were looking a bit dog-eared), and checking the spellings (Chicago, not "Chicargo"!), but if that's really the only thing I can find to suggest as an improvement, you're definitely doing something right, Met Stop! See you again soon!

However I don't really think it needed to be a sandwich. It's really too big for anyone to eat unless they unhinged their jaw, and even then the fact that it was on sourdough would make it a real effort to chow through. In light of this I mostly deconstructed this sandwich and really enjoyed it nonetheless. It essentially had pretty much everything I like about a full English and none of the things I don't like. We ordered the deluxe burger to share and 4 sides to try a bit of everything. The burger was cooked really well. The mac and cheese was a little too cheesy so couldn't taste the bacon. I loved the slaw...and the triple cooked chips were good. Nothing that made my mouth water - really it's just more of the usual.

I'd been eating a lot of unhealthy foods so it was really nice to get a smoothie and a vegetarian full English (but I did get the black pudding on the side). Ironically the coffee machine was broken but my spirit wasn't! Plus I don't really like coffee anyway so it didn't matter. The staff were all super nice (not a requirement obvi but it's nice) and the food was really tasty! The interior was nice too very maximalist vibes and it reminded me of something I'd see in LA. Overall a great place to get breakfast

Very friendly ostess took my order and I had my food in less than 15 minutes (this was after the breakfast/brunch rush so they weren't super busy). I got the taco truck fries which while very spicy & garlicky were amazing. I also got the Eggs in Purgatory whoch were out of this world amazing. The hot honey toast was a perfect vehicle for mopping up the sauce. Hoping I get to come back again!!

Aw I really liked it here!…read more For some reason I got totally ravenous at around 2145 and started freaking out about all the restaurants closing and could only think of this one nearby that might still be open so basically kept saying "Dogs n Dough" "Dogs n Dough" over and over again until Rana M capitulated and escorted me to that over-mentioned establishment. Inside was very American but sort of authentically (although I can't really tell anymore). There's a lot of dark green leather and a Rolling Rock sign. Owner/manager impressed me by saying they would keep serving until at least 11pm basically to do more business. EXACTLY. THAT IS THE CORRECT ATTITUDE. No hipster prancing about looking-moody-instead-of-serving-people-here. My small business heart was deeply gratified. Our server was also excellent, quick and attentive. They have what I will boldly declare as the best strawberry ice cream milkshake in Manchester and also a great looking list of cocktails that are £4.50 during happy hour and can be eaten alongside various delicious snacks. Food wise, the dogs, as Andrew Y. mentioned, have a rather odd hard outer skin but I actually quite liked that. I didn't realise my burrito dog would actually come in a wrap, but it was pretty tasty. Next time I want the one with Doritos. Or the Reuben. There's a lot of choice. There is also a MAC N CHEESE PIZZA whaaaaat. Sides: onion rings were giant, and good, and chilli cheese fries were as always a delight. Do not come here if you are on a diet. I will obviously be back here ASAP. FYI all the dogs are 100% beef.

And to be honest I've been meaning to…read moregive them a try for quite a while but only tended to remember about them when I walk past their neon lights directing them down Bow Lane, near St Peter's Square in Manchester City Centre, but it's usually not when I'm looking for food. This time I made a point of finally going to visit. I like that at night it feels a bit secretive being down a little side street, then down into a basement restaurant. Inside feels reflective of being outside at night too, with theatrical lighting, neon signs, and dark wooden furniture. One thing about the decor I particularly liked was the cartoon drawing all over of various hot dogs. When I asked the staff about these, they apparently originate with a guy who travelled all around the USA trying the speciality hot dogs, then drawing them as posters. What a job! It's a good talking point and unique as a decoration, I'll say that much! The atmosphere is friendly and cosy, people laughing and chatting whilst trying bits of each others pizzas and hotdogs. The menu has great tongue-in-cheek names for their offered dishes, and in the drinks menu I was happy to see that there was a large selection of soft drinks available for those of us who don't drink, including imported US sodas that aren't easy to come by here. It's so nice to find somewhere doing soft drinks other than the standard Coke/Fanta/Sprite fountain guns. We chose a root beer and a Dr Pepper Cherry Vanilla (although a Pepsi Cherry Vanilla came out, we didn't realise until afterwards because it was still pretty damn tasty). You're also given a bottle of water per table so you can enjoy your drinks rather than feeling you've rushed them due to thirst. Staff were friendly and enthusiastic, as well as knowledgeable of their product and environment. We were told how things were served, the types of pizza, hot dog sausage types etc, and when we decided to order some fries to share instead of a starter, the guy serving us observed this and told us that if we wanted to share the hot dogs that we'd ordered, they could be cut in half in the kitchen so we could easier share. That's a nice idea for couples and friends, I like it. I was very much considering the mac bites as a starter, but thought it best not to overfill before the main! We ordered the Kiev Fries, which were cheese, garlic butter, and herb crumb. Very tasty, and genuinely did taste like chicken kiev which gave me a giggle. We both took ages to decide what to have for our main, and instead of pizza we decided to go for the hot dogs. I ordered Cheesus Christ Superstar (heh) which was three cheese and caramelised red onion chutney. I was a bit surprised that the cheeses in question were melted slices of cheese rather than a sauce or grated cheese, but it worked, although I think a bigger serving of the caramelised red onion chutney would be better to balance out the cheese with the sweet. My partner ordered The Cowboy, which was house chilli, nacho cheese, crispy bacon, jalapeños and sour cream. He tells me that although it was very tasty, and the beef frank was great in flavour, it could perhaps have done with a little extra chilli. However, we were both impressed, and it certainly didn't come close to breaking the bank. So for good quality hot dogs in a pleasant atmosphere for pretty damn good value, definitely give these guys a visit! We will definitely be returning to try the other hot dogs, the starters, the pizza menu, maybe some of the drinks and th...in fact... well.. lets just say we'll definitely be going back!
