It's a pretty unassuming location, on a busy main road and nearly opposite a big supermarket but as soon as you step inside the Northern Crafthouse you could be in any part of the Northern Quarter. It's got that reclaimed/vintage vibe going with lots of exposed brickwork and wood - and some rather fabulous chairs which looked like old school chairs recovered in leather. The menu isn't going to win any healthy eating awards - burgers, tacos, hot dogs and burritos make up the majority. There's also a brunch menu which is served at the start of the day. Sparky went for the BBQ beef burger, I opted for the cajun chicken burger. Each came on an enamel plate with a gingham piece of grease proof paper - again, very on-trend for the NQ! We really enjoyed our food, although my burger was a little bit on the salty side. We also polished off a bowl of fries. The crowd was fairly mixed, ranging from 20 somethings out to cure a hangover through to families with children. There was a really nice vibe to the place and it makes a really welcome addition to this part of north Manchester, showing that Prestwich isn't the only place with cool hangouts!

By day, Chicago Rock provides a decent menu, similar in scope to that offered by similar chains such as Frankie and Bennies or TGI Fridays. Main courses range around the 8-12 pound mark, and the portions are sizeable - you shouldn't leave feeling hungry! As with these other chains, the serving staff are all about tips and can be a bit in your face, but that's not a bad thing - you'll get all the attention you need, and shouldn't be left hanging round between courses. Starters and desserts are also plentiful and recommended, from garlic bread and appetising meat dishes, to luxury ice cream sundaes and good portions of cakes, there's something for everyone. By night, Chicagos comes alive with the DJ and dancefloor. The bar usually has good promotional offers, such as 2 for 1 on certain drinks, or free drinks between certain times. These attract a wide range of people, from students after a fun night, to older types who might just fancy letting their hair down. The music tends to be a mix of chart music and cheesy dance stuff, with the odd bit of rock and roll, disco and rock thrown in - something for all. The place is quieter in recent months than in its heyday, but it's a decent and generally trouble-free environment. Stag and hen parties usually end up here, and it's often fun to watch the singles prowling ;-)

As a a treat my better half decided to treat me to dinner..fancying Mexican food he suggested Chiquitos.. I was like nope ..lets try here.. I had not realised it relocation until he said it was round the corner from him.. Stepping in, the decor was spot on. Nicely spaced out tables, perfect lighting oh and doors on the ceiling.. The background music was epic for me, full of nostalgic hits from my youth ahh. Immediately we were greeted and seated by a kind waitress who was a little too keen taking our drink order but then returned after a few minutes. For those that don't drink there is a plentiful innovate mocktail menu amongst a good selection of beer, wine and cider etc. I chose a standard pino colada which was the perfect consistency and booze balance, Himself had a standard cup of tea which was served in bone china :) The menu itself is varied too, it ranges from Mexican, Thai to Brazilian. Knowing by now not to not have eyes bigger than my belly I settled on a Seafood Stew served with rice and beans. Himself selected the beef strip burrito. The quantity of seafood in mine was plentiful. It contained fresh tasting prawns, whitefish, green lipped mussels and squid. It was similar to a Thai soup but thicker and went well with the accompaniments. He was very pleased with his burrito, I was too full to try any of his . Finally we checked out the desserts, I was slightly let down as it lacked churros :( so we passed and enjoyed a liqueur coffee instead. Overall, the food was fresh and tasty and averagely priced. The service was very attentive with friendly staff asking at the right times if everything was okay. Oh and they had lolly pops on the way out...winner.. Would I be back? Yes certainly.

I had the Hungry Gaucho which is basically a burger but that doesn't do it justice - the burger patty is topped with pulled pork, barbecue sauce, bacon and cheese and was astonishingly good. Served with fries which very nice if a little bit too salty for my taste and onion rings. Sparky went for the lamb tagine - not something we were expecting to see on the menu since someone had described the place to us as "steak and burgers". The tagine was great and the lamb practically melted in your mouth. It gets very busy here very fast, so book a table if you're coming. A little bit on the noisy side, and the drinks aren't cheap but the food is definitely worth it.

The stars given are based on price, atmosphere, food quality, location and service. If the pros outweighed the cons then it was given a star in that category. My main meal at McDonald's is 3 plain double cheeseburgers, large fries and a chocolate milkshake and very rarely changes. Price - The price for any of my items is less than £1.50 each which is great value therefore as one of the cheapest fast food restaurants I just can't complain about any priced item. Atmosphere - The car park, drive through and inside are always very clean at this particular McDonald's and the staff are very friendly, happy employees. However, I did not award a star as the inside seating is uncomfortable and the atmosphere is bad due to children as it is in most fast food places. I know this isn't the staffs fault but against other fooderies its just not up to par. Food Quality - The double cheeseburgers are nice and juicy with the perfect meat:cheese:bun ratio, better than the single cheeseburger. The taste is amazing with a slight sweetness to the bread. The fries are nice occasionally, being cooked well and seasoned the same but too often are they cold, unseasoned, raw or stale. Lastly, the chocolate milkshakes are delicious and overall a star was awarded as only the chips let a meal down occasionally. Location - The location of this particular McDonald's is good for truck drivers I expect but its terrible for surrounding towns. No star was awarded for this reason. Service - No star was awarded for this as far too often are my meals incorrect or I am left waiting too long for the food to cook. The main problem seems to be with the plain doubles cheeseburgers. As someone who hates tomato sauce I have too often trusted my order was right and even driven all the way home on occasion to find they haven't made them plain. Once I ordered 3 and each one had different condiments on it. Additionally, I must say they have fixed it every time but this ment waiting longerand also the managers of this branch are terrible at their job and are often rude to their own employees. In conclusion the McDonald's received 2 stars for incredible pricing and delicious food but lost 3 due to niche atmosphere, poor location and terrible attitude of management and awful service.

I was able to get a table fairly easily on a Saturday, phoning ahead with under an hour's notice for a table of three, which I was pleased with. The process of ordering was the same as any TGI location, I was given a QR code to scan, and then a manager took my order, due to having an allergy. I ordered the 1/2 rack of Classic BBQ ribs, which came with a side of fries and corn, as well as extra BBQ sauce and coleslaw. The food tasted pretty good, the ribs were good quality and had a nice amount of meat on them, while the fries were seasoned well, I did find the corn to be very dry as it was served without any form of seasoning or butter. The cocktails were also very good, I loved the Applejack which combined Jack Daniels Apple with lemonade, apple juice and moose liqueur. I also tried the Alaskan Iced Tea, which was a unique take on a Long Island, with lemonade and blue curacao, which looked and tasted good. The wait for the food was reasonable as they were VERY busy, however, I did have a long wait for one of my drinks, which meant it didn't arrive until AFTER the food had arrived and I had to chase this up twice. I later found out this was because they had run out of Jack Daniels and had to run over to Tesco across the way - While I appreciate them getting the stuff to make my drink, I would have liked to be kept in the loop rather than having such a long wait. Prices are a little expensive, but the loyalty scheme is generous. It appears you get around 10% of your spend back in the form of "Stripes" to be used on a future visit, with offers regularly available ranging from a free cocktail with every main ordered, to 20% off your food bill. On this occasion, my server allowed me to use both offers! My sever was very friendly, despite being busy he still had time to take care and attention to our table and deliver the best service possible, and he even allowed us to combine offers, to save some money off our bill. 4* - A nice TGI location which I will return to. Some improvements are to be made for sure, especially with transparency in regards to longer than expected waiting times and the car-park clearly stating you must register your car inside but with nowhere to do it when you get inside the restaurant.

We ordered drinks (a Coke and a milkshake) and although mine arrived pretty promptly (it was the barman himself who brought it over), he asked if my partner was having a drink, to which we said that we'd ordered a milkshake. His milkshake took another 10 minutes to appear, and even then it was only after prompting the waitress, and after I'd finished my first drink. After I jokingly said "I thought you'd forgotten it!", the waitress said, "no, it just takes a long time to make a milkshake". It doesn't take 20 minutes to make a milkshake, no. It then took several more minutes before anyone took our order. The starter arrived relatively quickly and was tasty. The main took over 40 minutes to arrive (a pasta bolognese and a hot dog with fries). The bolognese was 98% pasta, very stingy with the actual bolognese. The fries were good though. We almost didn't get the meal, as our waitress took it to the wrong table before bringing it over to us. My Coke came with free refills but it took so long to get someone's attention that I only got one more refill. The staff didn't seem to come to the area where our table was, so we had to do a lot of "looking around" to get the attention of staff, make sure they knew we were waiting etc. No one came over to ask how the food was or if we needed anything else, we weren't offered parmesan for the pasta, no one refilled my drink without asking or anything. I was tempted to go to the bar myself at one point. After the meal, it took 10 minutes until anyone came over, and that turned out to be the manager, who didn't ask how the meal was or anything, simply "have you finished?" then took the dishes away. At this point we noticed one of the chicken starters we ordered had now been sitting under a hot-lamp on the kitchen collection point for 20 minutes. Ugh. That celery would be awful by now! The kitchen staff seemed overrun. I counted two of them, who were running around like headless chickens, and a third who came occasionally from a back area, returning there shortly after. The manager returned a few minutes later, but only to ask if we wanted to order dessert. We declined, but asked for the bill. We didn't see the manager again. We waited 20 minutes, doing our "looking around" thing to try and get anyone's attention (we counted 3 waitresses, a host, the manager, and another lady in formal black clothing who I assumed was a matire'd or head waitress). Nobody came over. Only when we caught the eye of the waitress who brought our food out did she come over, and that was simply asking if we had ordered dessert and were waiting for it. We had to tell her that we were waiting for the manager to bring our bill, but that she'd vanished. The waitress told me that she did that a lot, and was never around when she was needed. Wonderful. She brought our bill. Another waitress took our payment. Both waitresses were friendly, can't complain there. After we paid and were on our way out, we saw the manager stood by the bar talking to someone. If we hadn't got our waitress's attention, we'd still be waiting for her to bring the bill over, not that I imagine she would've remembered to! As I neared leaving, I told the waitresses, host, and maitre'd that the manager had been gone for ages and not bothered to serve us properly, and that we'd still be waiting now if not for our waitress. They laughed, in a way to suggest it was a common occurrence, and they were pleased to hear a customer bring it up. This was mid-afternoon on a weekday, and ordering from the lunch menu. There weren't a huge amount of people dining, and there were plenty of staff, so for it to take so long, and be so low in quality/customer service seems unforgivable to me. Frankie & Benny outlets vary in quality and experience, as you can imagine, but I don't think I'd go to this one again in a hurry!

I decided to visit here in the evening on my way home from watching Manchester City defeat RB Leipzig 6-3. Despite the opening hours being listed as a 24-7 store, I was surprised to hear only the drive-thru was open for customers. This was despite, the restaurant doors opening and people (presumably delivery drivers) being inside. I was told I would have to go through the drive-thru, and they said I was okay going through it without a car. After walking through the drive-thru, I was then told to come to the window, there were no other cars nearby as it was a quiet evening, I was then told to wait for a manager who refused to serve me. He told me it wasn't safe to serve me through a drive-thru - Honestly, I understand this, however: 1. I had already pre-ordered my food via the app, meaning all I had to do was give him the code to collect my food. 2. The drive-thru was NOT busy 3. They were listed as being open, the automatic doors to get inside the restaurant were still open with people waiting inside. I can not understand the reason why I was denied service based on the reasons stated above, which they claimed to be "health and safety". Only allowing delivery drivers inside in the evening is ridiculous, especially considering there is nothing stating they close the restaurant to customers, even for pick-up orders on their website. 1* - This is an experience at McDonald's which turned into a confusing nightmare.
