I give 5 stars to the workers who did a beautiful job on my yard. They were hard working, polite, informative and attentive to detail. I give three stars to the people in charge. I asked for an estimate to create a walkway, concrete patio, irrigation, sod, and gravel. A week had passed after Renee came out to get measurements with no update on the quote so I reached out since other companies provided same day quotes. Renee responded to me so very unprofessionally via email stating "Geez! It's only been a week give me a break! We are busy I promise you haven't forgotten but this takes time." I was shocked because I don't think there was anything wrong with checking in after a week's time. Renee apologized by saying "I forget you don't know me" as if I should be able to discern her personality and tone through email. If I didn't like the workers I had met, I would never have hired them after this interaction. I shouldn't have to work more than they are for service, and definitely should not have been scolded for it. When I finally got a quote I felt that they were charging an astronomical amount for sod and gravel (we are talking 3x more per sq ft) and therefore only approved the walkway, patio, irrigation and sprinklers. I was told about their warranty and their experience in the field, and signed a contract. Upon completion of the work, I wanted to give the workers the business of completing what they started (by laying sod and gravel). However, I wanted to know if they would be willing to just do the labor and I would have the sod and gravel delivered directly from the source for 3x less. Renee declined. I asked for the sqft measurements for sod and gravel that they took for me so I could explore this on my own, and was denied this information. Then the owner got involved and told me he would void my warranty if I were to have the sod and gravel completed on my own which was never once expressed to me previously. Then he had the nerve to bring up my remaining balance that was emailed to me the day before, a holiday (July 4) as though I was some kind of delinquent customer. I'm sorry I didn't get to it when I was enjoying my holiday with family and friends! I was appalled yet again. I would consider their business ethics before going with them. However their workers were phenomenal and, quite honestly, should be in charge. They were more professional than the owner and manager were! read more

Excellent work, very professional Martin installed our irrigation system. I was impressed at how he and his helpers arrived early in the morning and worked consistently throughout the entire two days. Great work ethic. When they were finished they cleaned up everything. So nice to work with a contractor who doesn't continually ask for advances and completes the job when they say they will. read more

We had some tree work and a flagstone patio added to the back yard. They helped us design and install and it turned out beautiful. Then that turned out so well we did some work in the front also. The guys were all friendly and hard working and made sure the sprinklers were set correctly,etc...Renee and Frank came by and made sure all went well, and it did! I've been using Frank Mattison landscaping for the last 5 years and I give him my very highest recommendation. We found Frank because our neighbor was using him and we noticed how great her yard looked. Frank came by and we went over everything that we could do with our property. His people came in and fixed up our yard, and they noticed things the previous landscape guys had missed. He's thorough, conscientious, and most importantly an honest guy! As a bonus, his prices are very reasonable. Believe me, if he asked for more money for his services I would have paid it. We moved away from Lancaster a couple of years ago, but Frank has continued to be our landscape guy while we've been gone. When there was a problem he was the guy we could call and trust him to fix it. If you need a landscaper you should look him up. You'll be glad you did. read more

Frank Mattison made our backyard beautiful! I was hesitant to go with desert landscape because it can be ugly, but Frank is so incredibly knowledgeable about plants and trees (he is an arborist) that we have year-round blooms throughout the backyard that require minimal water! He is the only landscaper that offered BEAUTIFUL desert landscape with lots of plants, color and variety. Frank designed pathways and furniture areas so that we can enjoy the views whether we are indoors or out. And to top it off, he worked within our budget to provide the best bang for the buck. Called to set up an appointment on a Saturday. The owner said he doesn't work on Saturday's and for me to text the same phone number with my address, availability and contact info. I did and he never returned my call. I've called him twice since then and he doesn't answer the phone. He just lets it go to voicemail. He could at least say he's too busy and doesn't have time for a new project. What a shame. You lost my business. I'm not going to beg you to take my money. read more

I called Frank based on the reviews on a couple of online sites. Reviews said Frank is knowledgeable, professional, and fairly priced. My experience confirmed this. I had a sprinkler valve that kept sticking on. I'd tried all sorts of recommended fixes including replacing the valve, reconnecting all the sprinkler wire connectors, and replacing the timer box all with no luck. Frank returned my call quickly and scheduled an appointment for a couple of days later. In 20 minutes Frank fixed the problem and the price was surprisingly low. When he was here he pointed out the sign in the neighbor's yard indicating he'd done the landscaping upgrade, so I can say based on their yard that he does nice work in landscape design too. I plan to use Frank for irrigation needs and landscaping in the future. read more

Nobody showed up at the scheduled time. No call to let me know. Nothing. Instead a guy shows up the next day without notice, says he forgot to show up and asks to look at my sprinklers anyway, since he is already here. I sent him away and notified the company I wouldn't be using their services. Still no response. read more

In March I was looking for a landscaper to replace my forty year old beat up lawn. Last year the drought restrictions was the last straw. I was fortunate enough to find Frank Mattison on the internet. After I called them Renee came to my house to talk to me about exactly what I wanted done, to take pictures and measurements. Then we discussed what I felt I could afford to spend on this project. Frank sent me an e-mail with what it would cost. Was a little high for me so we tossed it back and forth and finally came up with a price that we could both live with. I did not want the project started until after the rains subsided. We decided on late April and Martin showed up with his crew on 24 April and they finished by yard on 27 April. T he job consisted of pulling up my old lawn, putting in a new drip system to replace my sprinkler system, removing an old tree and laying down two shades of rock I had selected from what Martin showed me. The colors offset each other perfectly and also worked great with the color of our house. Here comes the important part. The people who actually do the work. Martin and his two helpers did a great job and were very helpful when I had questions about what was being done and how it would fit into the work plan. Hard workers, knew their job and always were very careful not to damage the section of the yard they were not working with. END RESULT: A great looking front yard and another Happy Customer. We had our entire back yard done by him and his team, we could not be happier with the work they do and the final results, they turned an old beat up desert backyard into an oasis we love to hang out in. Frank Mattison Landscaping has been servicing our school, Desert Montessori Academy, here in West Lancaster, since we took over the property in the fall of 2015, and also before that, when it was another school. This property is very large, with many trees, bushes, and lawns to be serviced. We are a non profit private school working on a tight yearly budget. So hiring a landscaping company was going to be tough.
