There are plenty of reasons to AVOID this company, and I'll just cite a few. No integrity in their work: This company will cut corners, damage your property, and avoid replacing what they've broken. They say they will *fix* things but won't bother to show up. Low quality items: Not even a month after my aritificial turf was installed, portions of it started to dry out and lift up. I'll include a picture of their turf supplier so that anyone can see their suppliers' reviews as well. Sketchy business practices: There is no paper trail when giving payments. Thomas only wants cash or zelle and will not provide a schedule of payment dates. Instead, he'll text you the day before and say, "I need payment of $$$$ for supplies." The zelle linked to this company is neither of Thomas, his brother, or the company's. As stated before, there is no paper trail. Last one, after deciding halfway through the job that I wanted to go with an upgrade that we had previously discussed, I wanted to make sure we were on the same page on price. Thomas had quoted me with a balance that was $500 more than the original agreed amount. Fortunately for me, I caught the discrepancy in the quote, and I called it out. Seek several quotes: Their prices fall in line or higher than other licensed businesses in the AV. The only problem is that they're no longer licensed. Be aware of unlicensed businesses for obvious reasons. read more

Thomas and his team did a fantastic job on my backyard hardscaping and landscaping project. They completed it on time and on budget.

You can't go wrong with Camarenas. I recently had concrete, grass and hill done and I am very happy with the quality of the work performed. When we requested for quote Thomas came out next day and they were able to start within days. The price was very reasonable too. We recieve a lot of compliments on our yard now. read more

They will cheat you at every turn. The owner is a lying scumbag. My new concrete was poured and cracked immediately. It range and thickness from 2 inches to 1 1/2 inches. Not 4 inches like the contract stated. In some areas it was so thin that was brittle and cracked, and flaked off. Then he tried to lie and tell me it was because concrete isn't as strong of a product as it used to be.He broke so many sprinkler lines and right before they were going to pour the concrete I had them test the sprinklers. There were so many cracks underneath the concrete it took them an entire day to fix. Had I not said anything, all these broken sprinkler lines would've been underneath my concrete, and unfixable. They could not care less. He's a liar, he's a cheater, and his crew is trained to give you the worst possible product. This is the that contractor you want to avoid. I'm deliberating on posting the screenshots of his text messages where I called him out for knowingly doing a poor job and he started yelling at me and calling me names. Can you imagine, pointing out flaws of work done, and instead of fixing the problem, your contractor starts attacking you, and your character, psychopath. He's that guy, that when he gets caught cheating people he immediately flies off the handle. Psychopath. This guy has poor morals. Just your typical lying cheating contractor, no better. It's your kind that make people not trust people in your industry. Shame! read more

I contacted Richard and his team to remove some old trees/plants and replace what was there with drought tolerant landscaping and concrete a dirt path. They quoted me $6000 for all the work. Fast forward to today. I'm still waiting for them to finish the shelf we asked for, they left their wheel barrel and a few other items, and after 4 weeks all the shrub that I PAID them to be removed has grown back. How do you plant - new plants without removing all the old plants roots??? . Or at least place some barrier that the new plants wouldn't get drowned out by old weeds/roots that you didn't remove???? So now the entire landscape looks horrible because of the plants coming back... when I contacted them no one has returned my call. 6k down the drain for nothing! I wouldn't use this company again! You want a landscaper that will do a great job! We asked for plants up top for privacy. Well these struggle Charlie Brown planets aren't providing any privacy. They are basically dead! How is that drought tolerant? Oh and we had a sprinkler system up there. When I came home they had removed it. Why??? Don't new plants need water? Epic Fail using this company! NEVER AGAIN and I'm contacting the BBB Still waiting for them to come and pick up their trash! read more

I contacted this company because I wanted my front lawn removed and xeriscape put in. THREE TIMES he said that he would come over and see what I have and what I want. THREE TIMES he suggested the time. And THREE TIMES he was a no-show. I can forgive once and in the case of an emergency, twice. But THREE TIMES not only did he not show up but he NEVER EVEN CALLED OR TEXTED that he couldn't make it. He is either very very busy and can't even show the common courtesy of a phone call or just a flake. Either way it might be a good thing that I now have to find someone else that wants the work. DAMN! I HAVE to give him one star or I can't post this. Rest assured if I could post with no stars, I would. read more

We've worked on a few outdoor projects on our new build since 2021. It's been difficult to navigate finding an honest company with satisfactory results. This time around, we wanted to ensure that we got what we wanted. Not only did Thomas and his crew deliver results he gave us a competitive rate. We were in communication for a couple weeks planning the landscape and once we were satisfied with the plans, the project was knocked out within 2 days. We've received nothing but compliments and my Husband and I are very satisfied. He delivered exactly what we asked for and we will be working with him again. read more

Camarena Landscape worked on my backyard. They completed a concrete walkway, a retention wall, and a concrete pad for a pergola and added turf. I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Camarena Landscape. The price for the work they completed was more than fair, and the work they did was beautiful, clean, and professional. The crew that came to my home was efficient and extremely respectful. If you want to get work done, I recommend having Camarena Landscape work on your next project. read more

Camarena Landscapes did an absolutely amazing job on my backyard! I got a quote for both hardscaping and landscaping, and each were competitively priced. From the estimate all the way through the end of the job, the team was reliable, timely, clean, neat, and organized. Their quality of work speaks for itself! You can tell they take pride in what they do, and I would highly recommend Camarena Landscapes. Thank you for giving me the backyard of my dreams! read more

Camarena Landscape did a great job on doing concrete on the side of my house and extending my block wall. Thomas came out viewed the job and sent me out a quote the next day. I called a couple other contractors but one only wanted to see pictures and not even want to come out and look and another contractor never even returned a quote after looking at the job. Thomas explained the whole process and was very informative, his guys showed up as scheduled and cleaned up after each day of working. I will definitely call him for future projects. read more

Absolutely 100% would recommend them! Here's why- We had a little backyard project and got several quotes. They not only came back with the most reasonable bid but they were so professional throughout the process! Thomas, the owner, was personally there to oversee the work (didn't matter that our job was relatively small in comparison to what they do). Their communication, from the beginning to the end, was awesome. Some of the contractors we called couldn't even give us a bid on time without us contacting them several times! After the job was completed, they left our backyard cleaner than what it was before! Will definitely use them again for our next project (we won't even bother looking for anyone else)! We reached out to Camarena Landscaping to give us a quote on a back yard project. Veronica responded quickly. We scheduled a date and time. Thomas arrived on time and was professional and answered all of our questions. We received our quote very quickly. We modified it without any issues from Veronica and Thomas. Thomas and his crew arrived on the date we set and started the work. Him and his team were awesome! They did a great job, made sure to clean up the area everyday. We were impressed with the work they did in the back yard so we asked them to get us a quote on the front yard. Thomas arrived on Monday afternoon. We told them we wanted turf and D.G. He gave us a quote. We accepted and his team showed up the next morning. Absolutely amazing work by Thomas and crew. We highly recommend them for all landscaping needs. I contacted this company via Yelp for an estimate. They came by that same week in contacted them and gave me my estimate the same day! Richard and his team showed up on a Friday, 6/5 to install sod, boxwood trees, and prefab concrete squares. They were supposed to cap, adjust and/or replace the sprinklers in my front and back yard; add drip lines to flower beds, and provide me with instructions via email for maintaining the sod. My backyard measurements were incorrect, we were short sod for the backyard and. This was my fault. Richard let me know they would order more and return on Tuesday. I am giving them a 5 for the install. After the team left, i turned on the sprinklers and noticed their were spots that were not getting water. I immediately contacted Richard. Richard contacted me to let me know due to the amount of sod needed, delivery would be pushed to Friday. Friday came and so did Richard. He didn't come to my door. He went straight to the front sprinklers and resolved the lack of water issue, he never addressed the issue in the back yard. Richard did not bring the additional sod that was missing. I never received instructions for maintaining. I kept the area fenced off for 6 weeks. I noticed that I had some brown spots, so I reached out to Richard. Unfortunately, he never responded. I have been watering the grass, unfortunately, the the brown grass is spreading. The backyard sprinklers are too short, so I have to hand water. My sod was put down in June 12, 2020. I am still watering, it's not doing any good. The invoice indicated a soil treatment. I think my soil may be bad and I know they didn't fertilize the soil. At the end of the day, I spent $2,500 on sod that started dying after 4 weeks. I really wish I knew how to save it. I wish my sprinklers provided full coverage. Some of the drips don't release enough water, so I am still hand watering all of the beds. Richard did a great job getting full coverage on the front lawn. Again, the sod is not doing well. read more

Thomas was very pleasant when we started by having him clear our existing landscape. The price was in line and they were quick and thorough. However, he said he would be back on Thursday to take measurements and start on a 3-D design for us that he was throwing in as part of our original work order. Waited weeks, no Thomas. I finally contacted him just to ask why he never bothered to show up or even call as we are waiting to implement a new landscape. Well he said he had some personal things to take care of. Ok. Still, he couldn't have called? Said he would be here in 2 days and then would expedite our design. He did show up. He said we should have a design probably by Saturday. Great! Which Saturday Thomas? It's been weeks again, not a call, not a text, not anything. Please don't waste your time on this company. read more

Had a meeting with Thomas and had set on a day and to meet in the morning. later in the afternoon I contacted him if he was going to stop by and he was. I asked him if just forgot or if he meant a different day. He told me that we agreed on the day to meet but not a time. I checked my text messages (as he should have as well), and saw that he suggested meeting in the morning. This left a bad taste in my mouth from the get go. He was professional from that point on, but if you're not on top of your appointments before you get paid I wouldn't trust you with my money. EDIT: To be fair he did not specify a time and did show up after I texted him at 11:33 am. The open question is what would you consider morning? is 11:33am still morning? He actually showed up at my house at 1:03pm. Lesson learned from me is to narrow down a time span within 2 hours so you're not wondering is 1:03pm still considered morning? read more

In September, we decided to change our front yard from (dead) lawn to xeriscape and we wanted to give a local landscaper our business, so we called Camarena. Thomas responded in a prompt manner, and we had no trouble setting an appointment with him. He arrived on time, heard us out, and gave us some lovely ideas on what we could do and what plants would work with my "must haves". Their pricing seemed reasonable, which was a relief. We took a week or so to decide on how we wanted to proceed, and when we gave the green light to start, Thomas' crew was ready to go. We asked if they could extend a drip line to our existing ocotillo and they did, no problem. They finished the job in less than a week, and during that time the entire crew was professional, and polite enough to kindly answer any questions we may have had. Thomas gave me a great recommendation for boulders and they turned out to be a lovely surprise. I thought we might have a disappointing ending when one of the bushes they planted died a few weeks later, but Thomas said he'd send some guys out to replace it. It took about a week for them to get to it, but we were fine with that, and they did replace the dead bush with a different kind (to match another they planted), so I'm happy with his attention to our unexpected tragedy - and this was after they had been paid, so no shirking of commitment once money had changed hands. Mind you, my husband has had a few questions since the job has been finished and Thomas has taken the time to answer each one, and to return to adjust the timing on the water when we asked about it. All in all, we have had a very pleasant experience with this company and its crew, and we love our new landscaping. read more

I needed more trees cleared and a concrete slab poured and Thomas came to the rescue again. Not only did he work around a bunch of wacky problems with the inspectors (that weren't his fault), but he was quick to get back to me and his price was more than fair. Thomas' guys cleared brush away, dug the trench, arranged the rebar, and poured the foundation for an addition in my backyard. He's got an impressive knowledge base and his ideas were decidedly helpful. His crew is made up of hard-working regular dudes that did a great job, and I couldn't be happier. I have more improvements scheduled this summer and I know I'm going to call Thomas again to come back. I've received everything I've paid for, on time and done right. He's earned my trust and my business and I look forward to working with him and his company in the future. I've noticed in other reviews there are complaints about missed appointments and whatnot. Although I can't comment on what others have experienced, I can say that Thomas and his company are in very high demand. Personally, I know it's a pain to take time off and schedule an appointment, only to have that person not show up. I get it. It's a pisser. That being said, I've worked in the construction field and I can tell you firsthand that finding a company with a decent crew that's consistent and does COMPETENT WORK is a big deal. I'd much rather suffer the inconvenience of a missed appointment than to have some gang of untrained morons making changes to the largest investment I'll ever make. read more

Highly recommended. Thomas is an excellent landscaper. I messaged him thru Yelp. I was looking for a landscaper to remove the front lawn and install granulated granite landscaping with drought tolerant plants and drip irrigation. He replied right away with an estimate. We met on Friday. The work started on Monday (3 days later). The work was finished on Tuesday. The finished landscaping exceeded my expectations. He was able to re-purpose some river rock I had in my planter to create a faux stream bed. This made the project really extraordinary. Better than I could have ever imagined. I plan on having him come back soon to landscape my small back yard. I liked his timely response and how quickly the project was able to be started and completed. I had a good-sized backyard with bad soil and overgrown grass that I could not use or enjoy. Thanks to Thomas and his team that has now changed. I quoted competitors and they all had unreasonable prices and completion timeframes for the concrete patios I was requesting. I just recently had Richard and his team complete my backyard project and they really do excellent work. They basically put in new vinyl fencing, artificial turf, a brick wall and landscaping which included irrigation, new trees, planters, and some plants. Richard is hands on, and will work through any concerns. My "only" issue was communication. During the last few items of the job there was a problem getting the right vinyl fencing on the manufacture end but we had already paid the majority of the job. I understand things do happen, but there was a lack of communication with what was actually going on and when the product and installation would occur....so I did have a little bit of angst at this point. Overall, everything worked out, and I couldn't be happier about the job that they did and I now have a beautiful backyard! read more

Unfortuntely, I have to only give 1 star for the service (rather non-service) that has been provided to me so far. I called almost 2 weeks ago and spoke to Thomas and he said he could provide me with an estimate to tear up my backyard and replace it with rocks and artificial grass. I sent him photos and my address as he requested. I didn't hear back for days until finally I got some kind of response via yelp email (it didn't come directly from Thomas) that I wasn't clear on.
