We called multiple turf companies and most wanted a deposit just to come to our house in Tehachapi, the only one who didn't, was JNR. They were so helpful and they let us do our meeting online to save us time and effort. The price was a bit more than other quotes we received, but the quality and professionalism or JNR was outstanding and totally worth it. All the other turf installers gave us a wait time of 6 months! JNR said it would take about 4 weeks for installation, which was acceptable. Two weeks went by and we got a call from JNR asking if we would like to have the turf installed in 2 days! Needless to say we were very happy. When the crew came to our house, they were professional, friendly and courteous. The guys answered all of my questions and I could tell they knew what they were doing. It was a pleasure to have them at our house. Had a simple paver project in mind and reached out to 3 different companies. RNJ was the only one who provided a timely response to view the project in person, provided a detailed estimate, explained the work to be done, and was able to provide a time line. We used RNJ a few years ago for a turf project at our old house and were very happy with that work, so I knew choosing RNJ for this project was the right choice. On construction day, the work was performed as explained. The project took only a day and a half and looks great. The cost was reasonable for what I wanted done. It makes me so sad to have to update this review... we feel so sad and disappointed. We were originally told that if anything happened to our palm trees within a year, we would be able to get them replaced for no fee. In fact, when we inquired about the care and upkeep of the palm trees, we were told they needed no additional care other than our drip system that was already installed. When we brought up our concerns about our palm trees after 6 months, we were shrugged off and told that the warranty for the palm trees was only 30 days, even though we were told a year. They also stated that we should've been following maintenance tips (which we never received). We hate to write poor reviews but felt it was necessary for other future customers to know. We are so sad and disappointed it had to end this way with the company, as we initially left feeling great and taken care of. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case and we would find it hard to trust them again to do future landscaping. We hired JNR to complete a landscaping project within a certain timeframe. SCOTT WARE, our rep, promised the deadline could be fulfilled and it wasn't. My husband had to figure it out and use cheap turf rugs to make the yard look decent for our daughter's birthday. No problem. We called the office to make sure we could complete the project anytime since we already paid the deposit. The problem: the rep, SCOTT WARE, decided to come to my house, unannounced, and proceed to attempt to come into our yard. After he couldn't get in, he then take out his phone and begins to take pictures of our yard as he peered over the gate. When I came to confront him, he ran. When my husband called, he lied. Scott said he called us. He didn't. He said he thought the backyard gate was our front door. Another lie. We had our entire backyard redone by JNR and parts of our front yard landscaping. Our backyard was a hot mess. Full of weeds and dirt due to us being in a culdesac and we have the back big lot, it was a huge project. Travis and his team were wonderful. They had to work SO hard in the hot summer AV heat and they outdid themselves. We also but in a lattice patio and that was done quickly and efficiently. I'm only taking a bit off the review due to their digging machine tearing up our front yard grass. They did replace it with sod and strips of grass but it looks pretty messy right now as we wait for it to grow back. Overall the JNR crew were amazing. JNR completed my yard project back in November so this review is based on the work they completed then and the follow up on the correspondence I've been trying to get for the plants to be replaced now. First, I want to say the staff and everyone I had the opportunity to work with throughout the process of my design and install was kind and helpful. They charge high for the work they do, so be prepared to pay a premium price. But, for insured labor, licensed professionals and other things like plant warranties it's worth it...if you can get them to actually follow through on their selling points. JNR planted all of my landscaping plants, 13 in total, 3 trees and 10 plants just two days before weather temperatures dipped below freezing. I was a little shocked to learn this was their installation plan so I emailed the front desk to confirm and say, (Summed up) "Hey, this seems like a bad idea...can I get a copy of the plant warranty because it's going to be below freezing for a few of the days following my install?" The response was very thorough, (summed up) "We hear your concerns, here's a copy of the policy." Well, it was very clear a week later that at least 5 of the 10 had died with the other five on their last legs. I'm well within my plant warranty time so, I emailed again to inform them. They asked for pictures. I sent pictures. They said they thought the plants had went dormant and asked me to wait until Spring. I assured them they were dead but said "okay." It's Spring. I emailed again and sent the pictures of the now very, very dead plants and also the other ones that are not dead but frankly, might as well be because they're not living their best lives on a single part that didn't die. In my email I expressed my disappointment in the work and said I wouldn't need them to give me a quote for a few more plants (asked for in December, never received) because honestly, this type of follow up on work is just not what I'd expect to pay a premium for twice. To date: Nothing. No follow up email, no phone call, no response, no correspondence, no nothing. Over a two week period three emails have been sent requesting some information on how and when this is going to be fixed and not a single response. I'm sad to say this but it's much like another reviewer noted, they're great right up until they get paid. I've attached a picture of what roughly $33 a plant looks like. read more

We needed to remove and replace an existing 10x30 ft patio cover. I did some shopping and got bids for both wood and aluminum. The new cover was to be 11x32 ft. The wood replacement was $20,000 so that was out. I ended up with JNR because how I was treated by the office staff and the gentleman that came to give the estimate. JNR came in under $10,000 for a better product that my other bids gave me. Once I got the email for my approval, I saw one of the measurements was off and I called JNR to talk it over. They sent out a new email with correct measurements. The additional footage should have cost me another $400 or so, but they said they would cover the cost . . . and they did. The bummer is with everyone being home due to COVID, the aluminum shop is way behind. It took about 12 weeks to get the product. I even called the aluminum shop to find out what was going on. It was all good. JNR staff gave me a weekly email to update me. They also sent me a gift card as an apology for taking so long to get the aluminum cut. That was not necessary but very much appreciated. The tear down and install went without any issues. They took down the old cover in one day and returned another day to put the new one up. My wife was here and said all the workers were incredibly nice and answered her questions. The owner came and introduced himself and did an inspection. He also answered questions. I bought a house with a front yard that was just a dirt and weed lot. I don't have much of a green thumb so I wanted to xeriscape the yard. It's a rather large front yard. They worked with me on the price to get what I needed. The crew demolished the front yard in a single afternoon and then had the rocks and landscaping done in a day and a half. The crew was friendly and quick. They were respectful, extremely hardworking, and very nice. It was over 100 degrees outside so basically they were super heroes. I do have a couple of negatives about this experience. One it took about two weeks after the proposal was approved to get a start date. I knew ahead of time it would be 4-6 weeks approximately before they started. But I felt like there could have been more communication about a start time. The other thing (that is honestly partially my fault) was the area by the front door was not included in the plan. I didn't catch that in the initial proposal. So now my yard looks great except this one small portion. That was a huge bummer. I'm not sure why it wasn't initially included. I didn't notice it wasn't included in the original plan until after the work was done and that piece was not so I want back and looked and sure enough that area was greyed out in the colored sketch. So my advise would be to pay closer attention than I did to the plans. But overall I would recommend. Side note: They also work with a bank that allows for financing so you can get your work done and pay it off in installments, if needed. My yard was close to 2000 sq feet. Sod and sprinklers installed, new curbing , we wanted, plants and four mature trees and he said "okay", that it wouldn't be a problem. He said "in fact it's going to look nice." When we met with Jordan the story changed. He said that mature trees would be difficult to transport. I thought to myself "hmmm" this doesn't sound right at all. A picture is worth a thousand words....I was tempted to just leave these pictures as they speak for themselves. That said, this review is overdue but still extremely necessary. I see people always asking what can I expect if I sign a contract with JNR? Well...  ESTIMATE: My husband and I called to set up an estimate. John came out and went over everything with us. He never once tried to upsale anything and really listened to what we had in mind. When we asked for a professional opinion on certain things, he was always upfront and never left us with that horrible answer of well it is your decision. He was helpful and answered all our questions. When he was unsure of an answer, he said so and advised he would find out and let us know (which is better than being provided wrong information). John always got back to us without us trying to locate him. When it came time to sign the contract, we told him that we wanted to go over every detail and make sure what was written matches what we wanted as the contract is what controls. He did just that and with patience and professionalism. Every last detail was accounted for.  BID: Yes, their bid may give you a little shell shock at first as other companies may be lower, but there is that old adage, you get what you pay for. We are very pleased that we went with JNR and seeing the completed project, reassures our decision as being the RIGHT one.  JOB TIME: First off, Holy and Jill in the office were amazing. They both were always super friendly and helpful. They informed us that we will be receiving weekly updates via email. We figured it would be automated emails that eventually you start deleting without reading...NOPE. The emails were informative and personal. We mentioned to John the importance of our two new a/c units and the weekly update acknowledged them and the steps JNR were taking to protect them during the job. The weekly updates caused us to become like kids in a candy store waiting for the next weekly update.  We contracted with JNR to basically overhaul our backyard. JNR built a block wall, new patio, patio cover, gate and vinyl fencing along both sides of our home. Companies usually place their company signs in the front of their project sites and JNR asked permission before doing so rather than just assuming it was fine. The JNR employees were professional and if we had questions, they answered them all and took time to explain things in laymen's terms. JNR always left the site every day clean and respectful. We never had to clean up after JNR. When it was time to leave at the end of each day, JNR always gave a brief round up of what was done and what they would be working on the next day. JNR even took extra steps such as, where the block wall and vinyl fence met, by applying caulking in the gaps as we had mentioned concerns with privacy.  If there was a question about something in the plans, JNR asked us exactly what we had envisioned rather than guessing.  JNR pulled city permits for our project and handled every aspect of it, from scheduling the inspections to ensuring every step was approved.  After the patio cover was installed, we had a huge rain storm the same week. That day, JNR's workmanship came out. We stood under the patio cover looking at every inch and NOT one leak. Yes, a city inspector may be approving every step but that day seeing the workmanship first hand was satisfying.  We put in a special request for a gate with a pig on it and JNR totally came through. Of course it was a unique request that they never encountered and the words "no" and "can't do" were never heard.  We had the pleasure of speaking with the owner, Jeromie, when he was in the area and stopped by.  He was down to earth and a pleasure to speak with. We happened to have a question and he offered to go in the backyard and answer it for us right then and there.  CONCLUSION: WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND JNR. When you look at the before and after pictures and see what they are capable of along with the ethics and workmanship demonstrated throughout the project, how could you think of going anywhere else. Unbelievable service, I dont want to give to long of a review, but this company is time waster. The Designer whose name was Tim, came looked at the property did measurements and after presentation he said he will go and work on it that same night, do measurment designing calculations and since his busy his going to get back to me in a week. He also said i might be able to get visual design through computer within a week and show me (not give me so i dont take it no where else) which sounds fair, than if his idea is good, and we want to start we can start at that time. After 2 weeks, he calls me and says he measured property is about 14,000sqft, which he calculated the same day he came all he had to do multiply the measurements. He said owner told him if i am serious i should put $2,500 down so they can start. 2 weeks he did not do anything, no extra information was given, wasted complete 2 week of mine and comes back with 2,500 down request, when legally contractor is not supposed to ask over $1000 to start a project. If he called me that same day or next day and told me we have little issue and in order to do work please give deposit i would have told him ok let me think and give you response the next day. Or asked for proof of funds i would have provided same day. he waits 2 weeks does nothing and comes back and asks for money and gives an attitude. If they do not work already, if i put the down and get locked in $200.000 project, I highly doubt they would after that. I wish i did not waste my time and kept on getting other quotes during this time. read more

11/2018 - irrigation line they installed broke under the concrete the laid 1 1/2 years after it was finished. Of course JNR didn't accept any responsibility and just said I'd be fully responsible for the estimated $800 to repair. Had a concrete guy come give me an estimate for a different project and he saw the concrete JNR stamped and was saying that it looked bad and was listing off the things they most likely did wrong. Feel real good about this $15,000 spent....... (Original review) I had a few landscapers come out and give me a quote for landscaping my front yard. The first one who came was John Nicholson (john@jnrhomeimprovements.com) from JNR. He was very professional while making you feel very comfortable with the entire process. I walked the yard with him and he was able to bring my ideas to life by drawing me out a design and then having their in house graphic designer give me a digital rendering. They started work a couple weeks later after I was assisted by Holly at the office with the scheduling. The first day they were here, they rolled deep. They had 7-10 guys here doing the demo and prepping the yard for the future improvements. When it came time for the work to begin Gerry came out and did our stamped concrete patio/ sitting area. It looked awesome and then Classic Curbing came out and did the concrete curbing around the perimeter of the yard. This was John's idea by the way which I think put the yard over the top. Anyway, after the curbing was done they started with the plants and putting down the decomposed granite (DG). John, Jeromie (the owner), and the lead guy on the job Carlos were very influential in helping me pick the correct plants and the colors of the DG. After all the big stuff was done I worked with Jeromie and Carlos to get all the finishing touches right. These guys have a ton of patience and understanding as I'm pretty particular about the way things are done. Travis came by 10 days or so ago to fix our improperly installed drainage. He did a great job and his commitment to customer service should be commended by the owners and managers. As well his approach to customer satisfaction should be an example to all. He even stopped by the house, on his own time yesterday during the heavy rain to verify everything was now working as designed when it comes to the drainage. We appreciate his work and commitment to customer service. I give him 5 stars for his efforts. I can't say enough good things about JNR! I needed to put in a patio cover to cover my van and also a DG driveway. I looked online and JNR popped up often as a highly recommended company. My initially interactions were really good, however I lost contact with the person at the company that originally was helping me. I was pretty upset because I liked the proposal and actually gave JNR a 1 star yelp rating. Now most companies would not care for a single person and I thought JNR was no different. But Keith at JNR was outstanding and reached out to me by phone not only to get my project restarted, but to get it proceeding on a rapid trajectory. Ever interaction from this point was outstanding - JNR sent a fantastic person to measure the property and draw up plans, I was provided with detailed designs of the construction, and the cost was extremely fair and was below anyone else I contacted in the antelope valley. Once I approved the plans, JNR provided me with weekly updates - at no point did I feel left out of the loop. The crew that was sent over to put in my patio cover (Paris and Henry) were real professionals - they came on time each day, patiently put up with my questions, and created a masterpiece. The crew that was also sent to put in the DG did it quickly and incorporated my last minute tweaks to make sure it performed well as a driveway for my van. They contacted me to schedule an appointment and worked around my schedule to make it happen as soon as possible. This is something I have not experienced before when working with other companies, it gave us a feeling of security that we were dealing with professionals and not someone that would take your money and run away. Agreed to get patio done in august, was told 4 to 6 weeks.. 19 weeks later my patio finally got installed!!!! I got reason after reason why my patio wasn't getting installed. To make things worse The patio wasn't to the specifications we initially agreed with. When I told them about it getting installed differently from what I wanted they told me to look at the plans since that was agreed. But they weren't even following the plans as well. I wanted to cancel so many times but they intimidated me saying I was under contract and I would be liable for it. So I had no choice to continue with the patio, I didn't want anymore. Responded quickly up tp a certain point. Never got a chance to see the work though. The responses stopped when I would not agree to the higher costing jobs that were quoted. read more

JNR has put up two patios for me back in 2015 that are still standing and looking great. So here we are 3yrs later, and I decided to give them the opportunity to do a make over on my back yard. They did concrete walkways, entrance gate, desert scape, two putting greens, golf sandtrap, two boulders, and lots of lighting. I will post b4 and after pics of yard and the current pic of patios. After a 3yr plan, I saw a JNR rep at the AV fair. We set up a date, and the rest was all good. The owner Jeromie is great and had plenty of good suggestions of his own that would compliment my yard. He honestly makes you feel as if he's working on his own yard. This guy really cares about customer satisfaction. I would recommend JNR to anyone ready to get good QUALITY work. read more
