Was expecting a knock it out of the park Italian Bakery. This it was not. The rainbow cookie had a weird taste to it, almost like it was sprayed with windex or left in a poorly ventilated refrigerator too long. Tried to eat a mini chocolate cupcake and again this weird chemical windex taste came from the cake, even worse than the cookie. Figured third time was the charm and tried a mini cannoli..no chemical taste but definitely not fresh. Cannoli cream was hard, as if it was sitting in a fridge for a few days. Threw away $30 worth of treats. Would not go back or recommend this place. Sorry. read more

Don't come to this bakery unless you want bugs in your desserts. Never again will I set foot in this health hazard of a bakery. I recommend finding a better place to get affordable and uncontaminated sweets. read more

My family's Saturday ritual these days includes a trip first to Mastic Seafood then to Frank & Son's for bread and sweets. A couple weeks ago we celebrated my wife's birthday, and Frank & Son's tiramisu made growing a year older that much easier. Their bread is fresh and genuine, and their cookies tasty without being too sweet and, therefore, generic. But what's best about frequenting Frank & Son is the family atmosphere. I come from an Italian family. Sometimes Italians talk loudly. Sometimes we're aggressive. But that's all a part of our charm. Frank & Son's bakery is what a bakery used to be and should be again. read more

Local Bakery that has been here for years. It's tired and needs a face lift! They can't cut bread because their machine is too small. Their pastries never seem fresh. They do a good business so I guess they do some things right just not what I have gotten from them! read more

Not a huge fan and very expensive. Some quality products but many are overpriced. We bought a small fruit cheesecake that served maybe 4 people at most and it was $20! I would never do it again. I do like their bread and Linser tarts but will most likely not be back because of the prices. Also had some pretty rude service last time we visited. read more

Great if just want italian bread and rolls! not too happy with other stuff ive tried from here. Always felt like if there was another bakery like this in town they would be in trouble! a bit pricy for no reason. read more

Didn't really have a great experience here. Went in wanting an array of pastries for a family event. When taking my order and before picking out exactly what I wanted I had to estimate how many large and small pastries I wanted- not an easy thing to do! (I think this is because they need to know what size box). read more

the only reason we keep giving them another chance is because -they are the only bakery around here! And the breakfast goods are fresh usually.-But I don't get it when my husband goes there they are friendly to him(he says) When I go there they are ALWAYS RUDE!! They act like they are doing ME a big favor by waiting on me! What really made me angry-I went to order my husbands fav- for his birthday-(those plain french cruller things filled with canoli and with powdered sugar and a cherry on top?)I forget what they are called but she said : Oh we only make them for a short time -I said he just bought one the other day! She says yeah but the baker stopped making them! I said but this is for a birthday can't I order them?-NO. flat no -I said the baker makes plain crullers everyday right?-YES. ,Well then I am giving you a big order for a party I am sure the baker would be willing to FILL THEM WITH THE CANOLI CREAM- THAT YOU ALWAYS HAVE ON HAND!! She says NO! SORRY - Unbelievable. So this is it for me my last review not going back done. read more

As you walk near you can smell the sweets and breads before even opening the door. They have many soft flakey breads, assorted cookies, fruit tarts, etc. So many delicious things. I have a big sweet tooth and am picky with my cakes and sweets since I've tried so many. I'm not saying I'm an expert and everyone's tastes are different so this is due to my tastes: The cake I got here was a vanilla strawberry cake for mothers day, the cake was freshly made because I had it ordered. The cake was dry and the inside was basically vanilla pudding. The "frosting" of the cake was a thick whip cream like substance with no flavor. I also bought a dark chocolate cake from here, the cake was moist but it was the only good part. It had lots of cream that was unflavored, I'm just not a fan of that substance. The last cake I dared to try was a canolli cake. Half of the cake was basically the same white cream that's thick and has no flavor but is basically like air filled? The very middle of the cake was the only good thing. It was a moist cake and a nice canoli filling cream, but very thin. It was a small cake, not too small though, around 30$. I thought it was fairly priced....if it tasted good. But sadly not for me or my grandmother, father of sister like it. So we had to throw away these cakes since no one in the house liked them, and I despise wasting food! People who can't eat and I'm here with cake having to dispose of it? I felt horrible, but I just couldn't waste calories on something not good, especially when I do wrestling and have to stay a certain weight. I tried the cookies from here, personally they all take the same. I'm talking about the cookies in the front where the cashier is. Maybe they are the same dough and they just decorate it differently. The big rainbow cookies and chocolate chips cookies that are bigger than your hand and are round taste the same as well and aren't too sweet so that's good for those who don't like very sweet things but not for me. What I do love are their canolies but the flavor isn't consistent. Sometimes they are perfect other times they are alright. The ricotta cream filling is what seems to change. But they are still great. I also loveeee their napolean, but not the one with the chocolate vanilla topping that looks like what you see on those circular half chocolate and vanilla cookies. I love the yellowish one with the powdered sugar. Its sweet creamy, and has almost a lemon taste to it. Yum! I also love their fig cookies! Taste like actual fig! Too bad its only seasonal. Now I love these things but hesitate to go here on the account of the staff not being friendly. They talk and gossip and are loud, and then there are the other ladies who are quiet and stare at you as if you can somehow steal through the glass cover, as if they are judging you. I've seen a few friendly people here but they are never to be seen again after some time. Why do the good staff leave?! And I had a lady grab my stuff with no gloves! What's that about? I asked her a few questions about certain deserts but she wouldn't answer me and stay quiet then she would answer me after 2 minutes and slowly putting my things in a box with no gloves! What also is a downer is that prices are always changing it seems as if depending on the staff and how you seem to them or how they are feeling is how they charge you. I always buy a pound of canolis and sometimes its 10$ then 12$ then 11$ then I don't remember. PLEASEEEEEE get a better staff!!!!! read more

Very pricey. The young girls are not to bright. Asked her a question and she looked at me like I was crazy.

I just read the review from Michele dated 2/18 regarding the moldy cake she purchased from Frank &Son Bakery. I had a similar situation many years ago when purchasing cakes and brownies from there. Items probably left over from the weekend were being sold on a Thursday were definitely stale and brownies were starting to get moldy. I remember driving back to the shop in torrential rain just to be greeted by a rude owner who couldn't have cared less! Last time there. I think there are two reasons the store is still in business, the loyalists who have lived here forever and just accept second rate products and service. Second reason is that we have no other bakery! read more

I bought a delicious cannoli cake for Father's day. The proportion of filling to cake was just right. The decorations were adorable. I took away a star for the service. I was waited on by a young lady who was... brusque. The woman next to me? She started ordering pastries. The woman waiting on her put them in a small box. The customer said she would be ordering more... The woman waiting on her slammed those pastries into a larger box and looked angry! She should have asked, "how many will you be buying?" She was older - she night have been an owner. Maybe because they have delicious food they think it is OK to be mean? Have I just been in North Carolina too long? I don't think so... the customer was laughing nervously and look I g around. Then another guy walked in and she was wishing him a happy father's day and asking after his wife. Ugh. Way to make people feel unwelcome! I 2nd going good to snag a few more items but was a bit nervous about saying the wrong thing so I left with the cake ;-) read more

Being originally from Brooklyn I was hard pressed to find a decent Italian bakery on Long Island let alone in Suffolk county. I had heard about Franks and finally stopped in on Xmas eve, the wait was wretched but anyplace with a line that long has to be on point. The cookies were delicious and their cannoli cream in their cannoli cake was the best I have had on Long Island. Only complaint was too much whipped cream style topping on the cake, it took away from the taste of the cannoli. If you can stand the trip to Mastic and dealing with traffic on William Floyd and Montauk Highways this place is worth a stop. read more

Worse experience ever, it is unfortunate because we have order from them before it has been an ok experience but this was differently the last straw, We had order a cake to which i had should a picture to the lady who took my order as well as the "daughter of baker" they had stated that they could make it no problem, had me purchase the rhinestones for the edge of the cake.Even with all my running around i had come in the day before i needed my cake to drop of rhinestone and again show her the picture and had suggested that glitter could be used instead or the band of rhinestone. was again reassured that it would be perfect. The day that i picked up my niece cake i was made to wait 20 addition minutes from pick up time which was fine, for the cake that would place a smile on my nieces face for her birthday party, when the cake came out a opened the box and the cake was horrible nothing like the picture, the baker came out and said "what do you want me to do there is nothing i can do to fix it NOW" as if i was the baker no solution was offered, nor alternative. i was refunded and left to run around calling bakers that would make my niece a cake for her special day. No apology i was just told it was the fault of the person who took the order, when it had been 2 people who took this order and stated it wasn't a problem read more

Yesterday morning I arrived at Frank's Bakery to order my own birthday cake for today. I paid for it and asked to have it ready for 9:30 this morning. I had gotten there at 9:20 this morning and had to wait online to pick up the cake. I get to the front of the line about 9:40 only to be told that the cake was not ready. First of all, when the bakery is busy like today(Mothers Day), They should have a person dedicated to bring up pre orders to people. Second of all, there is no order or sense of urgency at all to get people in and out quickly. And finally, if you mess something like this up, you should apologize and try to make it right somehow. I go there because it's close to my home and I don't have time To go to Brooklyn on the way to NJ to see my family. I purchase all my families cakes, and pastries for special occasions from this bakery, but no more. I will now go out of my way to Brooklyn for my Italian baked needs. You just lost a good customer due to bad business and poor customer service. read more

Sundays, sicilian donuts called innis are available, filled w ricotta and cacao. Delicious! Prices are very reasonable.

I love this place I've only had one bad experience and I blame that on my self for showing up 10 min to closing I hope they continue in there quest to not conforming to gluten free and vegans who ruin everything. Ordered a cake from here for a baby shower. Said it would be delivered to my location at 11am. At 2:30 pm the manager at my location had to go pick it up, where it wasn't even prepared for delivery! They completely forgot my cake! So, when I went to address it after my party, the woman manager was extremely unprofessional. Asked "Well what do you want me to do about it?" Offered no appology just a "well I can do something for you next time" in a Very nasty tone. There won't be a next time. My family have been customers there for over 20 yrs!!!! No more. Complete lack of professionalism from a manager! read more
