My remodeler, KDC, is really worthy of this 5-star review. The owner, Tom, is very pleasant to work with and has a great eye for design. He is driven to deliver a very high quality product - something we customers like very much! It is no wonder all his people also have the same ethos. My designer, Karen, was an absolute delight to work with. She spent a huge amount of time on my project, some of it spent on tactfully talking me out of crazy ideas! Karen came up with a really nice design, exceeding my expectations. One example was in the shower area where she not only designed a colorful niche but, unknown to me, designed the adjacent monotone wall tiles to match the niche, a touch I appreciate every day. The construction foreman was Alan. He is a throwback to an era where quality was an obsession and he is so talented in wood work and electric work. Plus, Alan is a super person and when you are spending 3 months with someone in your house that's much appreciated! He is soft spoken but delivered big time. His cohort Dave did the plumbing work - again reflecting quality that the entire team brought to the table. Both Alan and Dave came by to fix some small items many months after the project was done. They both pointed out some small faults that I hadn't even noticed - and came back again to fix them. Now that's customer service! The subcontractors were also excellent, obviously directed to deliver quality by Tom and Alan. In conclusion I'm 100% satisfied with the remodel. KDC is an excellent company.

They stand behind their work and when anything went wrong they were there to fix it. Buuuut, that's an issue because EVERYTHING went wrong. Not a single subcontractor did their work correctly and all had issues that needed rectifying - ranging from minor to very much not-minor (lots of extensive tile problem being the major ones). Before selling our house I had to have the crawlspace plumbing completely redone as the pre-sale inspection came back with it not being to code. So I ended up paying for re-plumbing as I didn't want that issue holding up the sale. The costs also went up quickly and "invisibly". Essentially we didn't have a sense of how the expenditures were piling up as a dollar figure wasn't ever attached to a change in plan. So, ultimately it turned out well but it was an effort and it dragged on before it was all finally, for sure, done. In a sense I think the overall might be more accurately 3.5/5 but since the final product was excellent and they DID address everything (that shouldn't have needed addressing in the first place but did) I'm going with 4.

My biggest frustration is being limited to only 5 stars…read more 3 months ago we started a 3 week project to build a new mantle for our fireplace and bookcases to flank that taking up the entire wall in our living room. We had selected another contractor to do the work and made some concessions around how the tile was going to be done, but thought it would be handled well and we'd be pleased with the result. Once the tile was completed, there were so many gaffes and mistakes - including the top not being level, which would be highly problematic and even more noticeable as there is to be a large, sliding panel above the fireplace. As soon as we realized we had a problem, I called another contractor to get their opinion (was I being too picky??) who agreed there were a ton of issues with the quality of work. (scratched tile, chipped tile, cracked tile, bent schluter edging, uneven/un-level tiles, inconsistent grout lines, paint on the tile ...), He immediately connected me to Van and Paul, who also came to take a look - agreeing that the finished work was not good. We agreed to a price for demo and re-do, and told the original guy I would eat the cost of that as they'd be finishing the edges differently (which was the look we wanted to begin with). Apparently his feelings were too hurt though, and he walked off the job entirely and wouldn't even finish the cabinet work which is his true wheelhouse. I told Paul I just wanted to pause the whole thing right now as things were such a mess and there was clearly not a rush. He said he'd let Van know what happened and they'd get back to me. I never expected to hear from them on this - I mean, my cabinetmaker walking off the job was hardly their problem other than it might delay the tile work as I sorted things out. But, true to form, they followed through and Van has since connected me with another cabinetmaker. While they were here regarding that, he said he could send over two of his best guys the next day (the day before Thanksgiving) to finish the demo and do the tile work- which they accomplished in ONE day. There were numerous issues outside of the finish work that they found and corrected - the tile we'd selected is 'large format' (24"x48" sheets) - yet the other guy used 'buttons' of thinset to mount the tile. (apparently that's a no-no). The bigger issue was that he'd also left a significant gap between the firebox and the new mantle - a massive fire hazard. Clearly we dodged a huge bullet and while a hassle, are actually grateful he did such a lousy job so that the bigger issues could be fixed. Van is amazing to work with - thoughtful, considerate, patient and great attention to detail. His team (Paul, Carlos and Dixon) have also been incredible as well - responsive, polite, going way above and beyond as they bent over backwards to fix a situation they did not create and calm the nerves of someone (Me!) who was pretty upset in how things were left, and ultimately handled by the former contractor. Not only is their work FLAWLESS, but they did more in one day than the other guy did badly in 3 weeks. It's a pleasure working with a company that has such high work standards, fair pricing, and INTEGRITY. I can't wait to use them for the next project and cannot recommend them more highly. Thanks, guys, for EVERYTHING!

Her cabinets had what I would describe as a subtle pink hue to them and therefore it was very difficult to find flooring that both contrasted and toned down the subtle pink hue. After 3 trips to and from the store I had found the winner. I was a little dissapointed that the install date was about a month out but at the same time the need for expeediency was mine, and not their fault. That said the two sales people I interacted with were the absolute best. I could not have asked for better help. The install guy, Oscar, was fantastic with communication. He was able to handle add ons with ease and called to verify specifics during the install, rather than just assume like some companies do. He called me and asked me directly, and I sincerely appreciate that. Not only that, but the two last minute necessary add ons did not raise the bill substantially like it might at some other places. Their prices were fair and I feel like I got a good deal, especially given what I percieve to be the high quality of both the product and the installation. I would absolutely use them again for future projects!

If you are considering vinyl plank flooring for your home, don't do it!…read moreWe purchased it from a flooring company, Carpet One, here in San Ramon. THEY DO NOT BACK THEIR PRODUCT. We had them install vinyl plank flooring back in 2020 with a limited lifetime warranty. The flooring is scratched and faded and the manufacturer representative has not stood up for the warranty. We attempted to get the issue rectified but emails went nowhere and no one has called us. In fact, the sales people don't even recommend the product sold to us because they said after time the joints between planks buckle. Here is another flooring contractor advertising to sell vinyl flooring. Please, PLEASE, don't believe the hype. It WILL scratch and fade over time. I've left out the name to protect the contractor: Hey Twin Creeks South, I wanna share a little story about my neighbor! "My neighbor, a retired contractor, showed me a newly developed vinyl floor that looks like wood but is way more affordable and totally waterproof! My downstairs floors (apart from the observatory which is new) were in a sorry state. Faded, stained, and even rotting in a couple of places. He was over one day and asked me why not replace it with luxury vinyl. 'It'll be the last floor you'll ever need'. I'd never even heard of it! He told me it: - Is stain, scratch and dent-resistant - Won't fade or rot like wood - Come with a lifetime guarantee My floor was installed in 2 days (they moved the furniture for free, tore out the old planks, installed the new floor, and cleaned up everything!), and it looks incredible. Couldn't recommend it more!" 37.70515, -121.92194 CA

We chose Mor Construction to do our project after meeting with 6 other contractors. Mor wasn't the cheapest nor the most expensive, but where they excelled was listening to our needs and what design we had envisioned, not what they thought it should be like a few other companies tried to do. We have a late 60's ranch home that was 1700sq' and boxed in with separate living/dining/kitchen/family areas. It felt like a maze and crowded for our family and wanted to open it up. We sat down with Jon and planned out how to open up our space and maximize our views of Mt. Diablo and have a more inviting and social entertaining space. Unlike other companies who could not estimate what more beams, architectural plans etc etc would be (only they'd be an additional cost), Jon encompasses those costs into our plans We knew there might be some additional costs, but planned for them as you can't foresee everything before opening up the walls.
