Fireplace tile

Leo's team just finished my fireplace surround. Installed large format tile and hung my mantle for me as well as my art piece above the mantle. It was done in 2 days just as I was told, snd they were neat and extra helpful to me about hanging my art piece. Tile guys are awesome! Hardly any cuts ! Pictures don't do it justice. All done as agreed! Happy with the outcome. Looks beautiful!

Leo was a life saver. His employee Ricardo Is a flooring magician. We needed to patch a section of flooring where a peninsula existed and the flooring was discontinued as of 2005 and all we had left was a few spare boards. Ricardo figured out the jigsaw puzzle and made it work. We'll always consider Leo for our flooring needs in the future

Leo did my Kitchen & dinning room area. I chose a black laminate that looks like real wood! I love them & would recommend Leo. Currently he is helping me with a bathroom! I will post when its finished. His company always does good work, & Ive been lucky enough to have Leo on my projects!

Redesigned fireplace

We are so happy with our gorgeous floors from Floors by Leo. From our first consultation, Leo was unbelievably honest, thorough, and helpful. He went above and beyond helping us select the right floor for our home, ordering it as a discount for us, and working with our vacation plans to ensure that the project affected our family as little as possible. He also suggested some upgrades to make our house look more modern which really elevated the project to a whole new look. The taller baseboards he installed went perfectly with the hickory floors. Leo did several extras for us including designing and rehabbing a very old and ugly fireplace into a beautiful new wooden mantel. He took out an old marble eyesore in our bedroom and repaired the wall inside and out. He also put in motion-sensing lights under our stairs which work great and are a nice safety feature in our home. Whatever the job, he always took the extra step. When we ran out of paint, he went to Home Depot for us to buy more and ensured it was a perfect match. He made a huge renovation project as easy as possible. Leo's assistants were top-notch. Jesus has worked for him for 25 years and is an amazing craftsman. His electrician was also excellent, putting new can lights and art lighting into our outdated family room. His crew was amazing at keeping the house as clean as possible during construction. Leo was always willing and able to make things right. Like any job, we encountered some unexpected hiccups (typical of a 30 year old house, I suppose!). He repaired a very creaky front step which wound up being a lot more work than anticipated. Whatever the issues, Leo always handled them with grace and did a great job with the repairs. Leo's work is great quality. All of the floor seams look perfect, and we are so happy with our updated home. Thank you, Leo and team!!!

Damaged hardwood floors.

DO NOT GIVE LEO YOUR BUSINESS! We had a TERRIBLE experience with Floors By Leo from the beginning until the end of our project. Leo was incredibly unprofessional in the handling of our entire project from the moment the contract to install was signed. We actually consulted a lawyer at one point when we thought he might not complete the job correctly. We recently purchased a house and wanted to replace the old floors before moving in. We contracted with Leo to install tile throughout our downstairs floor and in the upstairs bathroom and to install hardwood in the stairway, bedrooms and hallway upstairs. The problems began with poor communication. First, Leo was resistant to picking up the hardwood flooring from our flooring supplier! He wanted them to deliver the flooring, but they don't deliver. I thought I was going to have to rent a truck and get it myself. After several confusing emoji text messages, I figured out that he would pick up the flooring. So he begrudgingly picked up the flooring after complaining via text emojis. What kind of professional uses emojis to communicate with customers?! It only got worse. His workers removed the old tile and carpet. Then they installed the hardwood upstairs. But, they did not wear shoe covers or cover the hardwood after they installed it. So, during the install they damaged the finish on some of the boards with their dirty shoes. Then, when they installed the tile in the upstairs bathroom adjacent to the hardwood floors, they did further damage to the hardwood that was left uncovered near the bathroom. The finish on several boards was worn off and some of the boards had thinset/grout ground into them by the foot traffic. It still gets worse! Downstairs, Leo confused my tile order and ordered the wrong color tile! Then, he proceeded to have his workers install two thirds of the floor with the wrong color tile! When I discovered it, he initially tried to blame me but the correct color tile was in the contract. Once he realized it was his fault, he tried to talk me into keeping the wrong color tile and offered to do a tiny bit of extra flooring in our washroom for free. Of course I turned down his offer. The incorrect tile he laid had to be removed and the correct color had to be reordered and installed. This pushed back our deadline by a couple of weeks. That was really inconvenient since we were waiting until the floors were completed to move into our new house. What a disaster! Once Leo realized he was going to lose money on our job, he became even more difficult to work with. When the downstairs tile was complete, I was able to get into the house and inspect the floors. Downstairs, I noticed that the tile was not laid flush in several places and the excess grout was not cleaned up in several places. The grout was also cracked in few spots. Upstairs, the tile in the bathroom was also not laid flush in several places and there was excess leftover grout. I also found the damage to the hardwood floors and immediately called Leo. He reluctantly came over and I pointed out the damage. Leo got upset, told me that he could not be responsible for all of the damage and he stormed out my front door. I have never seen such unprofessional behavior in my life! At this point, we contacted a lawyer for advice. We really weren't sure Leo would do the repairs since he stormed out of the house and was not responsive to phone calls. We were extremely disappointed in the quality of the work and that our brand new hardwood floors needed repairs due to negligence during the install. We were finally able to get Leo to agree to do the repairs after a couple of weeks. The repairs were not done completely correct but we were so fed up with Leo we just let it go. We just needed the disaster to be over. If you've read this far then you understand why I will never do business with Floors By Leo again! I will also never recommend him to anyone!

Jonathan was an incredible person and super nice - really personable and his wife was also the most responsive person ever - always quick to answer questions and provide the quote/invoice right away as promised. I hired them to finish up flooring since I had some injuries and couldn't finish up the work and their quality and speed was phenomenal. I have an eye for attention to detail and their crew was above and beyond in how they did the flooring, going the extra mile for things that normally would be a quick shortcut for contractors hoping the customer would miss it but they didn't take any shortcuts. They were reasonably priced - not the highest or the lowest quote but Jonathan was what sold us on the work and we're more than happy to have gone with him and have recommended him to other neighbors. There's a reason why they are so backed up with work! They're popular for a good reason. They're finishing up the work today and the guys are respectful, clean up after themselves and super nice to chat with. Definitely would recommend Jonathan and his crew to anyone looking to have the best flooring done the right way. Just like their slogan says!

It was installed when we built the house and had not been refinished in 35 years. It was badly marked up from hospice care wheelchair and hospital bed marks. The original natural Bona finish coats were worn through to the wood in high use areas, and there was a lot of water damage in the kitchen from leaks over the years. It was time to repair damaged boards, sand down to the wood, and refinish. After getting several bids we decided to go with Hardwood Floors by Jonathan Gayer, (925) 235-1222, 2033 Belford Dr, Walnut Creek, CA. Jonathan did the work while we were out of town on a trip. Upon returning we were absolutely delighted to see flooring throughout the whole first floor that looked as good or better than the original installation 35 years ago. Jonathan and his wife Eva (who handles the business side) were a pleasure to work with and very trustworthy. The work got done just when they said, and their price was a fair one.

Walking across many areas of the floor produces noticeable sounds, which detract from the comfort of our living space. When we brought this concern to the installer's attention, they dismissed it as "normal." This response left us feeling as though our concerns were not taken seriously, and we are now left with a problem that affects our everyday life. What We Liked * The sales representative at the Danville showroom was very helpful when it came to choosing flooring samples. Their assistance made the selection process easier. * Although the cost was higher than other estimates we received, we chose this company because their measurement process was thorough and detailed. Major Drawbacks * There is consistent noise whenever we walk across the floor in many areas of the house, and the issue has not improved over time. * While the installation was completed, we felt that our concerns were not addressed adequately afterward. * The installer insisted that the noise was "normal" rather than providing a clear solution or inspection plan * When we brought up the noise issue, the installer attempted to fix it by adding more nails to the stairs and applying a solution provided by the manufacturer, but these efforts did not resolve the problem. Later, Brian, the owner of the company, visited our home. He did not introduce himself at the time, and after walking the stairs, he claimed the noise was caused by his ankle. After inspecting the house, he concluded that the noise was "normal" for floating floors and said there was nothing further he could do. * Even though they removed the samples from the showroom and stopped selling the brand installed in our home due to other customer complaints, they still refused to address our ongoing problem. Because the walking noise is so noticeable and our concerns were dismissed as "normal," we cannot recommend this installer. Value was there, and everyone we dealt with seemed authentic, relaxed, with no "sales pitch" and no "artificial" tone. Their installers came out and did a wonderful, professional job. We couldn't be happier with the end result. I deal with a lot of home improvement vendors throughout the Bay Area because of my line of work. I'm keeping Diablo Flooring at the top of my flooring list.

Fortunately, the price structure is not only competitive but better than driving out to deep random locations in warehouse districts! I was also pleasantly surprised at the variety of hardwood floor, engineered wood, and carpet samples available. There's also a nice curated section of tile. What sets this location far above is the level of customer service that I received from Ray. Most flooring stores have kind people... who have essentially learned to sell floors as a job. Understandable. But at McCurley's, you get somebody like Ray, who is a contractor and actually knows the ins and outs of installation and design.
