We were a party of 13 here on a Saturday night. For Alma college graduation night, it was surprisingly not super busy. We arrived early for our reservation, and even though our tables were empty they made us wait until the reservation time. The staff were nice, and the food was good! Waited 20 minutes to be seated at a table when there were only 2 tables with diners and we were the only ones waiting to be seated. Half the items on the menu they were out of. Food came out lukewarm. The real kicker came when a waitress, not ours, came up to our table and told us they needed our table. Ummmm we hadn't even got our cards back yet from being charged. Amazing food! I tried the sausage sacatoni and it's bursting with flavor and yumminess! My wife's tried their chicken piccata and says it's the best she's ever had. Over the years I have been to Francesco's several times. I have never had a bad meal. It is the best restaurant in the area for business lunches or dinners. The seating is comfortable and the atmosphere is quiet, so you can have a quiet conversation. It's also good for date night, but being Italian food you will be enjoying foid with garlic. The food and service are excellent, and I will be returning again soon. read more

Wonderful! Their homemade sauce is closest to our italian families own 100 year old authentic recipe! Pricing is fair...MUCH tastier food than the chain "Olive Garden"...a Joke!...Nothing fancy, but everything is very good...service, fresh homemade food...Almas hidden treasure....Always busy...My only suggestion is "both their chicken picante(a bit oily) and their chicken Marsala ...good, if someone doesn't know how to make it the correct way at home...I was disappointed in both. Their Cream pies,(peanut butter,along with the coconut cream pie...Are MORE a "whipped mouse filling instead of the REAL pudding filling.crust had no flavor...more floury tasting, plain. We love stopping here on way up north. Entrees and drinks are good to great and worth trying. Service is friendly and quick. The only thing they don't make well is ham, mushroom and pepper pizza. They don't have green pepper and we were told it would be roasted red peppers from jar, but figured it would be ok. Nope. Peppers were not chopped & not drained well. Mushrooms were canned and not drained well. Ham was not cut up, more like large slices. Also, almost 3 cups worth off toppings. Needed a much much lighter hand with toppings. Result was a very soggy yucky pizza. Next time, just pepperoni. Period. They can't mess it up. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I came here to have a nice date with my girlfriend and we couldn't even finish our entrees because it tasted like dish water. Huge portions at reasonable price with plenty of options to choose from as well as the daily specials. Ordered the Shrimp Alfredo would prefer the Shrimp to have been grilled or sautéed to add more flavor but the sauce was creamy and the pasta was cooked perfectly . When this place first opened it was horrible, the Alfredo was so salty it hurt your mouth and I didn't go back for a few years until some family wanted to go. WOW! What a transformation it has made. Pretty much everything is fantastic, now! The sauces are perfect, the portions are mammoth, and everything is well prepared. It's a bit of a drive for me, but I'll go out of my way to go here when I'm craving good Italian. Service is good about 80% of the time. Francesco's has to be one of my favorite Italian resturants. I have yet to have a bad experience. I have been for lunch, and got a delish sandwitch with fries, and more recently went with my boyfriend for our anniversary. We started out with fried mozzarella as an appetizer. It is real slices of mozzarella cheese, deep fried, and served with marinara sauce. This was my first time trying it and boy was it good. For dinner I had chicken tortellini and my boyfriend had sausage saccotino. My meal was yummy, and creamy but not heavey as I feel sometimes creamy pasta dishes can be. Mixed with chicken and bacon, it was perfect. I also sampled the sausage saccotion and it was very good. You have to like sausage to enjoy this dish, but it was tasty with lots of bold flavors. Staying at Saravilla in Alma and was looking for a nice place to eat. Francesco's was recommended and it looked interesting. Well the meal was amazing. I started with the wedding soup and it came out with bread and the most delicious olive oil dip. I had chicken and pesto with a balsamic vinegar drizzle. The pesto was so fresh and beautiful and the balsamic was very tasty, not too overpowering- just right. I don't get out this way very often but would happily make this a regular stop. Well, it has been another year and we are passing through the Alma area again. After much searching for restaurants we decided on Francesco's again! This time I ordered the Pasta Primavera with chicken and my SO ordered the Pesto Chicken. The service, the food and the ambience were amazing as it was last year. This review is several days late, but I wanted to be sure to share our amazing experience. Last week my wife and I decided to meet for a random "date night" dinner and based on reviews felt as though Francesco's would be a good choice. We were met at the door and promptly seated in a back booth. After review of the menu and hearing the specials it was clear we had made good choice. We decided to share an appetizer and pasta and a glass of wine. Our chicken spread appetizer was enormous and absolutely amazing. We realized that in order to have room for our pasta we needed to slow down and possibly just stop. My wife might have licked the plate if we didn't have our entree still coming. As we were in no hurry we asked for the entree to not be rushed and our waitress ensured that we were made to feel welcomed not at all rushed. When out goat cheese and squash pasta arrived we were happily ready and throughly enjoyed another excellent dish. If anything I thought the sauce was heavy handed, but if there was more bread (I'm sure we could have asked for it) to sop the sauce up it would easily have been perfect. Last minute changes made us push the res back 30 minutes (6pm, during a busy Saturday dinner service) the staff was completely accommodating and professional about the changes, total pro's. Hands down the best restaurant in the Alma-Ithaca-St. Louis area! I am a college student, so I cannot say I get over here often (the prices are a tad bit high on a college budget), but the atmosphere is nice and the wait staff is super friendly! I am also Italian, and as anyone who knows an Italian, eats Italian, or has been in a fight with an Italian, we take our food very seriously. Francesco's is very acceptable Italian food. If you want to drive down to Okemos for mediocre, Americanized-"Italian" food at Olive Garden you can go right ahead, but here at Francesco's you will eat like an Italian!
