The atmosphere here is your standard small town bar. There are hints of Irish flair and a very welcoming feel. I ordered 5 wings ($11) with Kentucky Bourbon Bbq sauce. They were excellent a fantastic crunch from the breading and the chicken was juicy. The sauce was fantastic. It all combined to make wings worth coming back for. I also ordered a 1/2 Ib French Onion Burger ($13). This Steak burger has a homemade chip dip with chips on it, plus sauteed onions, and swiss cheese. It is a unique and delicious burger. The burger itself is juicy and tasty, then you add these unique toppings and it's a home run. The service was amazing. I was there at an off time, but they were very attentive and friendly. We came here for lunch on the recommendation of my girlfriend's mother while we were visiting recently. This is her favorite place to eat. We came on a Monday and the entire area was as deserted as a ghost town. Apparently, most of the town takes the day off to start the week. The Blue Shamrock is essentially an Irish bar with a kitchen that consists of mostly standard faire. I ordered the Reuben sandwich. There was not much meat and the sandwich was mostly overflowing with sauerkraut, but I did enjoy the fresh cut French fries. My youngest daughter ordered a ham sandwich on white bread. Nothing fancy, but she had no complaints. My other daughter ordered a 1/3 pound hamburger that she devoured. She offered me a bite and it seemed rather plain, but that could be because all she wanted on it was mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup. My girlfriend ordered a Greek salad. She said that it was ok. Maybe I'm being too hyper-critical, but I was not impressed. It was served with canned beets and black olives, instead of calamata, which I though was a standard for a Greek salad. Our waitress was very nice and courteous to us. She kept our soft drinks full and even brought extra sides for the salad. I can see that The Blue Shamrock could be a bustling night spot. A very nice home town bar. You could tell it was for the locals and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. It has a very interesting layout as you walk in to a waiting area, then the bar area. Seemed like a lot of wasted space that could be used for customers. The burgers were very good and cooked exactly as requested. Wait staff was very attentive to the regulars but not so much to our table of out of towners. Any concerns with the meal we're dealt with promptly. We were lucky enough to find The Blue Shamrock Pub through Yelp while driving up-state in Michigan. It is on a cool looking street of small businesses in St. Louis, Mi. When you walk in you see what could be a pub anywhere - so familiar. The gals working were super nice. From letting me taste a few beers before deciding what to have, to giving all four kids, including the 19 and 17 year olds, homemade blue lemonade playdoh. And the playdoh smelled like blue lemonade! The kids made playdoh figures of each other. The 8 year old ordered a burger and fries. He said "It was really good," and gave it a big thumbs up! The 12 year old ordered the beef nachos. She said it is "delicious." She thought it would be spicier, but ate it all up! The 17 year old order the Spicy Leprechaun Burger. He said it was "really good." He wanted it spicer, but gave it a very good review nonetheless. The homemade fries were a positive too. The 19 year old order the Heart Attack Burger. He said it was "good and tangy." No, I don't know what tangy really means in relation to a burger either, but clearly equated to a thumbs up. My wife ordered the Swiss & Mushroom Burger (with apple slices instead of fries. Really.). She said "the mushrooms were cooked perfectly, the burger had great flavor and the pretzel bun was just the right size." She said the apple slices were crunchy and it certainly added an element of healthiness to her meal. I order the special, which was grilled cheese with fresh tomatoes from their garden (nice!) and homemade potato chips. It was a great grilled cheese. Get it if they have it when you are there. The fresh tomatoes made the sandwich. I also liked the homemade potato chips. And the French onion dip I ordered on the side was a definite plus. So if you ever find yourself in St. Louis, Mi. The hamburgers taste amazing. The meat is fresh, buns good, all comes together for that hot, juicy, grilled meaty mouthful of hunger satisfaction. Onion rings taste fresh, not fried frozen, but I am not positive. Just a little family friendly, COVID complying bar with great fast service and hot bar food. Apparently, the chili is super spicy with jalapeños, so ask if you want to avoid the heat. Next time, going to try the wings. I was in town visiting family and looking for a place to snag a good burger and beer. Being from the area I know that selections outside the fast food realm are sparse. My mom recommended this place and it did not disappoint! It has a very authentic Irish pub feel and for a moment I forgot I was in small town mid-Michigan. Their draft craft beer selection offers a variety of Michigan brews and I ordered my standard Founders. Our waitress was quick to greet us and talk about friendly! I ordered the heart attack burger (not as bad as it sounds!) with sautéed onions, mushrooms, and cheddar on a pretzel bun. My dining partners ordered salads and they were huge! We had to ask for boxes to take the extra home. But the real star of the meal was the fries. These are the good fries. You know those homemade kind you get in the cup at the fair or Highland festival? These are better! I'd order just a side of those with a beer the next time I'm in town and leave a happy girl. The only small issues we had was that one salad came with a side of tortilla chips that didn't come out and I ordered my burger medium but it was more well done. I'd order it medium rare next time I come for a visit. And the chips were brought out with a smile when we brought it to our servers attention. But, everything was still delicious and not enough to take away a star. If you are in mid Michigan visiting or even on your way up north on 127 take the detour to the Blue Shamrock. Awesome Spicy Leprechaun burger. I like mine more rare than the usual Medium and they did it perfectly. The spiciness of this burger is good for most folks. I'm here from Texas so to call food Spicy it must raise your heart rate and bring sweat. This did neither but it was very good. You can't beat a pretzel bun to keep a messy burger like this together.
