I went into frames galore a couple of weeks ago with a painting...and a dream, a dream that would allow me to frame my prized highschool painting in a gorgeous custom frame... without breaking the bank. Well, let me tell you people.. that dream came true.. and not only did it come true, but it was enhanced. I had decided that, in order to save my wallet from a depression, I would opt for the "normal glass" instead of the art glass that was a solid $50-$60 more expensive. When i picked up my painting in all it's framed glory, the owner sheepishly told me that he had just gone ahead and framed it with the art glass (FREE OF CHARGE) because he found a broken piece in the back that could be cut down to fit my frame. This is los angeles people, this doesnt happen every day. Not only is my painting really well framed, I had a great experience with a very thoughtful and professional individual. The woman who works here is very rude. I called to follow up on a quote I received and she got angry and hung up on me...how professional is that?...I wouldn't trust them with my art. Also they only insure for damages up to $250...most artwork is worth more than that. read more

Mike is AWESOME...I used to go to Aaron Brothers down the street, but this place blows them out of the water on every aspect. I went to Arron Brothers for example and they quoted my $80 for a custom frame and a 8 day await and endless chatter on trying to UP SELL me. Went to Frames Galore and Mike took care of me for half the price and it was ready in 20 minutes and NO UP SELLING. That was a year ago and now I only come here. The store was full of unique art, mirrors, and quality custom framing. We found a very old reclaimed mirror from India that fits our decor perfectly. I happened to be in Sherman Oaks running errands and saw some wonderfully framed mirrors displayed on the sidewalk in front of Frames Galore. This drew me in and I saw a greater selection of framed mirrors inside the store. The prices seemed reasonable but nevertheless I wanted to do some shopping around before buying. I went back a month later and bought two mirrors in a quality frame for an amazing price. Even though the mirrors were not as cheap in price as what you could get at Target for a comparably sized mirror, the quality of the frame is far superior to the frames I found at Target and competitively priced vis a vis other custom frame shops. I expect to have these mirrors for a long time and I anticipate that the frames will age gracefully based on the quality of materials and durable construction. I also enjoyed my shopping experiences each time. The first with Christopher Borhani and the second time with Sam Moaven. They were friendly and knowledgeable about the frames. One mirror was quite large and he was able to hang it by himself (all other companies said they would have to send 2 men. I have no idea how Michael did it alone!) They showed me various options but did not try to push me into buying anything I didn't really want. I left them two weeks ago with my Ketubah from my wedding and today it is hanging on my wall looking even better. Despite my initial experience here (original review below) I am happy to say that they have done their best to make me happy. After posting my review Mike called me to say that customer satisfaction is very important to him and he asked what they could do to make it right. I told him that a deeper frame would make me happy and he told me they could do that and to bring it in. I took it in a few days later. He was very apologetic and helped me to find a frame that would suit my needs. I went back today (about a week later) and picked it up. It is very nice and I like the color better too. Original review: I found this business on Yelp and had high hopes for a great experience. The first part of this review may not be the store's fault, but I was SHOCKED at the cost of framing. I knew from my husband that it could be expensive, but the painting I wanted framed is only about 20" x 24" and I wasn't expecting to pay a lot. In hindsight I really wish I had shopped around a little more before having it done. The man at the store was very friendly and helpful. He helped me to figure out what I wanted (simple) and gave me some options. When I decided on one he told me that kind of frame was very popular these days and would come to over $600! Well that wasn't going to work for me, so he gave me some less expensive options, where I found one that would be about $300. I had waited so long to frame the piece that I went with it even though this was at least $100 more than I had expected to pay. This painting has a lot of sentimental meaning to me and I felt awkward just leaving it there but the man seemed kind and competent. He told me that the turn around time was usually 2 weeks, but he would be going out of town a few days later and mine would take 3 weeks... fine, I've waited this long. I paid for it, already regretting what I was spending on it. I waited for four and a half weeks but didn't hear from them that it was done. Finally I called and spoke with a woman who said she found my order but couldn't find the painting anywhere and would have the man call me the next day. Of course this left me worrying for a day that the painting was lost and I would never see it again. When he called he explained that my frame had been back ordered and he would be picking it up the next day and it would be done in two days. I thought about canceling my order then and there, but decided in the moment to just get it done. I finally went in to pick it up several days later. The frame looked fine, nothing fancy. When I got it home and held it up against the wall I realized that the frame isn't deep enough and that it only goes half way to the wall because the painting is on canvas mounted on a thick frame. It was exactly what he showed me in the store, but not knowing much about framing I thought that it was a demo and that when it was done it would be deep enough to accommodate the depth of the painting. It's pretty enough from the front, but will look ugly floating off the wall. I've had it for nearly a month now and it's still not hung on the wall. And I'm embarrassed to tell my husband that I don't really love it since I spent so much money on it. I truly wish I had shopped around first. read more
