Booked and confirmed my appointment on Zocdoc. When I arrive 15 minutes before my appointment, the receptionist tells me that my appointment was never confirmed. I show proof of email and text that I confirmed my appointment. She states well you're going to have to wait because we have patients at that time too now and it will be over an hour. Stated no problem I'll go to another dentist nearby. Wouldn't recommend to anybody and felt uncomfortable and disrespected by the entire encounter with the receptionist. read more

I could whole heartedly say this dentist gave me the worst fear of dentists..The treatment as a child was terrible.. And I have an immense fear even as a 40 yr old adult..In conversation a neighbor was describing terrible childhood experiences and then disclosed this same dentist...My mother and my 2 aunts in conversation realized the amount of "cavities" and fillings that were being treated and they changed our dentist..Behold that I have never required another filling , even in adult life. read more

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, I was treated very poorly in a dentist's office. I was a kid, gagging in the dentist's chair because the practitioner stuck something down my mouth so deep, I involuntarily attempted to vomit. "This is so stupid," she told me. "I can't believe you're doing this. WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?" That's what she told me, as I gagged for what seemed forever. She did not offer to help with water, or comforting words. I was a kid in her chair, with nowhere to go until the deed was over. "Stupid," she muttered over and over. I never forgot that experience, and was reminded of it today in Dr. Fox's office. Initially, all had been well with Dr. Fox and Dr. Haley. My toddler daughter's dental health was a priority despite our personal chaos, having had a fire in our building -- and my daughter did need serious dental work. Dr. Fox's office seemed amazing from the reviews. We needed a second opinion on my daughter's dental care. We were now going to see Dr. Fox! Since January, we visited Dr. Fox's office 4 times. Four. That is four times in six months. Only on our 3rd visit did Dr. Haley actually work on our daughter's teeth. Unfortunately, Dr. Fox's and Dr. Haley's solution did not work. This was not their fault. Another dentist (who wanted to charge much more) suggested Dr. Fox's solution would not work. We wanted to give the alternative -- and Dr. Fox and Dr. Haley -- a try. Unfortunately, the alternative did not work. That their efforts did not work is really not a major issue. The following events that occurred today, however, are. We scheduled a visit to see Dr. Haley again to figure out other options. Our follow-up was today. I asked questions that just revisited my daughter's care to figure out what we could now do that Dr. Fox's dental care was not effective on my daughter's teeth. Dr. Haley decided to unleash a most surprising unfriendly tone with me in her office. I was floored. This seems to have been prompted when I saw a $10 outstanding on a Post-It on my daughter's manila file folder, and I opened the file to see why this was so. Dr. Haley, who had been speaking with Dr. Fox privately about my daughter's dental situation, saw me viewing the folder, and retorted alto voce, "You're not going to find THAT in there," insinuating that I was doing something wrong. Dr. Haley then gave me a dirty look. Where was our beloved Dr. Haley who we had been seeing previously? I am being punished for looking at my daughter's file? Seriously? Apparently, the $10 post-it note was a sore spot with all the staff. When I asked about the $10 note at the front desk, the front desk said, "IT'S NOT ACTUALLY TEN DOLLARS. YOU DID NOT PAY THE FULL AMOUNT! YOU WERE ACTUALLY SUPPOSED TO PAY [XXX] MORE - OVER A HUNDRED DOLLARS MORE." "Yeah," said the assistant on the other chair. Okay. Everyone apparently knows about this charge issue, and the staff are informing me now in this way. If it mattered so much, why didn't anyone let me know before? Phone call? Email? Letter? Anyone? Anyone? Perhaps Dr. Haley's treatment of me stemmed from the $10 that was really supposed to be over $100. Or...perhaps it was due to the notes that the front desk wrote in my daughter's file...about me. The front desk clerk finally said, "But we can't collect the difference from you because ... the other girl who was here charged it. So we can't." It wasn't my mistake. It was the staffer's. But somehow, I needed to be treated like poo over a staffer's error. I offered to pay the $10 that was noted on the Post-It. "You don't have to," said the clerk. "I insist," I said. Credit card. Ten American dollars. Signed. Done. Back to Dr. Haley. I tried to fully clarify her previous stated options on my daughter's dental work possibilities, and steer her from the tone she was using on me, but her tone just got worse. It felt personal. To my relief, my daughter interjected and asked Dr. Haley a question about toys, and Dr. Haley switched from her *itch tone with me to "unicorns and rainbows" tone with my daughter. I am glad she maintained a sweet -- if a bit overly sweet, and trippy-- tone with my kid. Maybe Dr. Haley was doing a Jekyll and Hyde on my daughter and me because it was the end of the day. Maybe other patients/families had given the staff a hard time. Who knows. But a demeaning and unprofessional tone, while it cannot be fully expressed on Yelp, happened to me today here. I am embarrassed that Dr. Haley spoke to me in a degrading way in front of my daughter. After I left, I cried on my way home. Caveat Emptor at this dental office. After four visits, I have learned that the passive-aggressive staff here are capable of making you feel very, very small. Avoid. read more

Live in Jersey, work in Greenpoint. Daughter, who is three years old, comes with, so the daycare is not a state away. Apparently picked up a cavity, or two, and bad! Yelped for a dentist in the 11222. Dr. Fox had/has the strongest comments, and recommendations. Figured he was the one to go with. Office is super clean and the staff is super helpful. My daughter loves Dr. Fox and is constantly quoting him and LOVES him! So happy that this is so. The dentist I had as a kid was a Nazi. Seriously, he used to squeeze my arm when I whimpered in pain from his work an tell me to be a man. Anyway, that got weird huh? Fox rocks! read more

Sadly, I just had my last appointment with Dr. Fox before I move to San Francisco. I wish I could make a trip back to New York for every future dental appointment. He has been my dentist for the past two years and is by far the best dentist I have been to, and I have had a lot of dental work done. He is professional, gentle, always explains what he is doing and his work is top quality. His receptionist and dental assistant are also lovely and always friendly. Thanks Dr Fox! read more

Dr Fox is my son's dentist and he loves him. I didn't realize until I had a dental emergency the other day that he also sees grown ups...or adult kids or whatever... First he saw me to evaluate the problem immediately...like "come on in." Then he came in an hour before his practice opened to fix my tooth as I wasn't able to have the procedure done when I went by the first time. Second, he was incredibly professional, sweet and third, it didn't cost me a million dollars. Even without dental insurance. He has a new (happy) patient for life. read more

I'm sorry for anyone who has had a terrible experience. I can only assume that since some of your reviews, they have taken some measures provide better customer services. And for that I am grateful. My son has been coming to Dr. Fox for the last 2 years and our experiences have been nothing short of amazing. The staff is always extremely kind, patient and helpful. Dr. Fox's bedside manner always keeps my son at ease. He's the reason my son actually enjoys going to the dentist which for any parent is reason enough to continue going. read more

My husband and I went to Dr. Fox when he first opened his practice over thirty years ago and took our two children there as well. We still go to him and my daughter takes her children who are now 19 and 13. Love Dr. Fox. He was always great with children and always spot in with his treatment. No Yelp reviews for Dr. Fox? I'm surprised. I take my 4 year old here. Unfortunately he has next to no enamel on his teeth, and he's already had 3 fillings. He had them all done with Dr. Fox. Four visits in about 2 months, and.....He loves it. He loves Dr. Fox, his assistant and his receptionist, and we both love the extremely comfortable couch in the waiting room. What more do you need to know? Thank you Dr. Fox for starting out my enamel-less son with a positive feeling for dentists. PS I am having my first appt with him soon - Haven't heard of any adults who go to him so I'll be the guinea pig. Beware! This is the dentist that made me afraid of dentists as a child. I would not even send my dog to this guy.

We have been taking our son to Dr. Fox since he turned 3. Dr. Fox is kind, gentle and has so much patience! He explains everything he is doing before doing it so there is nothing to be scared of. The waiting room is full of toys to keep them occupied if there is a wait. But we have never waited more than 10 minutes. After the visit, the kids get a great goody bag and get to choose a toy to bring home. My son actually loves going to the dentist! read more

I am someone who has not gone to the dentist in years because of previous experiences. I went to Dr. Fox to have my teeth checked out. After years of not going, I really did not want to hear things such as, "I can't believe what your teeth look like!", "Why did you let your teeth get like this?", etc. I KNOW they look bad and I KNOW I should have gone sooner... and I am happy to say, I heard none of this. Dr. Fox took xrays, told me how he would go about taking care of my teeth, and did not make me feel bad. Procedure number one began yesterday and I am very happy with the results. My husband has also started to see Dr. Fox and what is great is that Dr. Fox gave him a rundown of what could be done with NO PRESSURE as to which procedure my husband should to go with. Dr. Fox stated clearly what could be done and how much everything would cost and let my husband decide what to do, as opposed to just giving him one expensive alternative. We are both glad that we have chosen Dr. Fox as our dentist... and he, as well as his assistants, are very personable, friendly, and approachable. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE this dentist. He's actually a children's dentist primarily, but he does take adults (and since I'm mostly like a small child when it comes to the dentist, it's perfect). The receptionists are actually incredibly nice and helpful (shocking I know!), they take quite a few types of insurance, and there doesn't seem to be too much of a wait to get an appt (I got one within 2 days of calling). The dentist himself is nice, friendly, and tells you what is coming before he does it to you. Didn't try to sell me on extra services, the cleaning was thorough, fast, and I was out of there in about 30 minutes. NO WAITING. Looooooveeeeeee iiittt read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Fox he's like my small town dentist who moved to the big city with me. He's amazing with children- my 4 year old keeps asked when he can go back. He's great explaining stuff and doesn't up sell. His staff is super helpful in breaking down the insurance coverage as it makes no sense to me. Beware of needless fillings. After an unpleasant experience at Dr. Fox's office with his dental assistant (argumentative and rude and clearly unstable), we decided to go to Bite Size Dentistry in Williamsburg. At our last visit with Dr Fox, he had said my son had a cavity and that I should schedule a follow-up to fill the cavity. We then went to Bite Size Dentistry where we did x-rays that we could view and was told by Dr. Raf that my son's teeth were good - no caviities or fillings needed. read more

Since moving to New York I have been avoiding going to the dentist, as I was weary of being charged fairly and was worried that I wouldn't find a dentist that I would be comfortable with. When Dr. Hayley was highly recommended by a friend of mine, I decided I had better bite the bullet and have my teeth looked at. Dr. Hayley made me feel instantly at ease. She is was very kind and friendly. She did the entire cleaning herself, which I think is a rarity, as that is a job mainly done by technicians. She took her time, was very gentle and you could tell that she really enjoys her job. I never once felt rushed. I had to return a couple of weeks later to have a cavity filled and it was such an easy process. Absolutely no pain at all. I highly recommend Dr. Hayley. I'm sure she would be great with kids too. read more

Wonderful dentist. Took my 2 yr old for a first dentist visit, and he and his staff did everything in their power to make it comfortable. A clean, big office with some toys in the waiting room for the kids while they wait to go in, and a toy box to choose from upon leaving. He's so nice, my entire family is going to switch to his practice. read more

Dr. Fox might be great for children but the problem is that he talks to adults like they were children. I had the same problem with his main receptionist. Extremely condescending. He also works in very short bursts to stretch out the number of visits. He will do two fillings in a visit where many other dentists will take on 4+. He also performed 30-second procedures without warning me about the hundreds of dollars that they would run. Dr. Fox is also the most heavy-handed dentist I've ever been to, I was worried he was going to slip and tear my mouth open. When I inquired about my insurance coverage the main receptionist became extremely defensive and began referring to other dentists as "shysters". No thanks. read more
