I am so glad that my roommate and I stumbled upon this cute place! Coming from LA, I was so deathly terrified of Salinas and the rumors I have heard about its crime and whatnot. Fox Creek Village is so convenient, like all the other reviewers mentioned. We have Target, Walmart, Marshalls, Michaels, and Safeway just down the street. We have a Dollar Tree across the street as well! TIP: Use their gym. I don't know if you gym or not, but if you only do cardio or want a treadmill or an elliptical, use their gym. Why? Because it smells fan-tas-tic. I swear, this is the best smelling gym I've been to. it's very small but it is pretty great. I only do 30 minute jogs and this is where I go to do my jogs. P.S. Do not go to In-Shape (which is across the street too, yay!) Susan has been very helpful with living conditions and every time we have trouble, we shoot her an email and she usually helps us take care of it. Rent is pretty cheap comparable to Irvine (where I used to live) and it is not bad at all! You get your own parking space & there are plenty of parking spots without the hood. I don't think they are too strict on visitors, so that's great as well. I would totally recommend living in this apartment complex if you are moving to this area! :] read more

My wife and I lived there for 3 years and I have to say, it was a great place to start off at. The property is landscaped in a very nice way, and they have landscapers come by once a week to help maintain it. The property also has a pool, hot tub, sauna, and a gym; all for the residents. Not to mention the fact you also get the use of a washer/dryer inside your apartment! They also have several different layouts involving 1 and 2 bedrooms, and some have fire places. Susan is the property manager and she responds to any needs or requests very quickly. It's a quiet complex, with many of the residents having been there for several years. All in all, it's a great, affordable place to live in Salinas. read more

I have to say that overall I don't think there is anything that is very comparable to Fox Creek! This place has everything that we wanted and needed and more. I would say that the amount of living space in the apartment is amazing, the large walk-in style master closet has plenty of room for my clothes, the outside closet helps tremendously, but the best thing for us is the comfort of having a washer/dryer in our place. I would have to say the only things I would change would be... the windows and the trees. The windows (even though it would be very costly) would be nice if they were updated because being right off main st you can hear All of the daily traffic and sirens frequently wake our baby. Also, even though the trees are beautiful and the grounds are cleaned weekly, the sap that is on the leaves get all over my car and leaves black stuff on anything you leave on the patio. Overall it is an amazing place to live not just for the amenities but because of the community mind of everyone that lives there. It's fantastic! read more

I've been a serial mover (9 places in 9 yrs) and now I'm set. Susan the manager is friendly and reasonable (my bank once had a delay in sending my online rent payment, but management acknowledge that all of the residents who used the same bank were also late, and didn't charge us late fees). Rent is fair, and the grounds are regularly cared for. I've been contacted by management who was trying narrow down the source of a noise complaint in my building, and although I haven't had a problem with noise it's nice to know they put in the leg work for the resident who did. Pleased resident, and I plan to stay put for a while. read more

I have been living at Fox Creek for nearly a year now and this place is amazing. 5 stars all the way. I was struggling trying to find a place for my little family quick and the management was understanding and extremely helpful. Not to mention prompt at returning any call or email. In regards to the anemities, there is a pool where i learned to swim. A tennis court where my daughter loves to play and a work out room that always is peaceful. I used to live in Santa Cruz and the gym there had two machines that never worked. One of things i really love about this place is the peace! Every person who walks by says hi and is quiet. No loud music to disturb us. The lighting at night is also a peace of mind. If you want to move to Salinas i would suggest this place as your first stop. read more

A true and in depth review. The main problem with these apartments is the core build quality. The walls, ceilings, floors, and windows are very poor. It's truly sharing your apartment with those around you. You can't help but hear conversations, noises, or say bless you when they sneeze. The worst is the noise from baths, showers, dish washers, or washing machines. So with that in mind, the worst apartments are the ground level of these 2 story structures. A 20 lb. 3 year old sounds like a 200 lb. man in boots on your ceiling. So kids run around and scream, people do Zumba and it sounds like the end of the world. Then if you live anywhere along N Main or Alvin Dr., both busy roads where the apartments are located, you get a lot of noise from traffic. If you had to get an apartment here, try to get one like one of the ones that the manager gets, upstairs in the back or interior buildings. The good part is that Salinas has no night life, so it is down right dead quiet between 11 pm and 6 am. Provided your neighbors don't see how fast they can navigate the staircase or beep their car alarm a half dozens times or are up all night. Besides the noise, the crew that does the landscaping is kind enough to blow dirt into your front door and leaves and grass all over your patio area every Tuesday. The other main thing you can't control is your neighbors. Living so close in a poorly constructed building just makes matters worse. So you need to deal with their noise and odors from food, smoking, or doing laundry 6 hours a day, 7 days a week with some serious smelling dryer sheets (dryer vents are right outside your front door. It's Salinas and average priced apartments with a range of inhabitants and new and exciting people are moving in and out all the time. This place is OK for a short time if for some reason you must need to move into an apartment in northwest Salinas. Maybe you go to Heald college and work at the Nothridge Mall. Maybe you have other family that lives near by. Or maybe it's more important for you to have 4 or 5 vehicles rather than more than one bedroom for your entire family. These apartments have been under maintained for years and are really beginning to show their age on the outside as well. Wood on the exteriors is molding and rotting. They have been forced to replace some of the roofing and siding and trim back the trees. They have also had to spray for bugs a lot. They waste incredible amounts of water flooding the lawn with the sprinklers several times through out the evening, night, and morning. They really need a lot of repairs and painting. The covered parking structures are in bad shape and serve as much for bird apartments as shade for cars. Inside, you never know when your floor will be wet from a plumbing failure, or worse if you live downstairs, from your upstairs neighbor's plumbing failure. The other review says there are too many rules. Really? What and where are they because I neither see any one follow them nor enforce them. Although the parking games certainly exist in a few areas with what seems to be an extra building in the corner. The office is open from like 10 to 5 Monday thru Saturday when most tenants are at work, not too much street traffic, so it seems peaceful and quiet when you first visit. The manager is usually shopping on-line although has been putting this place all over the social networks too. I had to laugh at "luxury living" description and pictures of the one model apartment with all new appliances. Pebble Beach is luxury living, not a low cost apartment in Salinas. A recently cleaned pool, a few exercise machines, and your own washer/dryer don't qualify. Trust me, at the time I am writing this to the day, I have been in over 10 apartments here recently and almost all have the same refurbished and recycled old appliances and fixtures put in a place that just gets another coat of Benjamin Moore Super Hide and a carpet cleaning. There is no fence or gate around the complex which is a concern for Salinas. There have been several shootings recently in the immediate area. Dumpsters are frequented by both those searching through your garbage or a place to dump their own. Cars are only occasionally broken into. I think that the ability to hear the slightest noises helps with that. You are welcome to come check the place out yourself. Walk around and check out the whole area. Come on Saturday, if you can, when your potential neighbors might be around and say hello. Remember the upper end apartments away from the main roads (they cost more for several valid reasons people). Then check out some other options too, non complexes, private apartments, maybe even in Seaside or Monterey. You'll be happier in the long run. Depending on how long you plan to stay, don't take the first available place, do your research. In conclusion, you can do better. read more

My family and I lived here for more than a year and we loved it. The apartments are very spacious, clean and very well maintained. If you are looking for quiet and decent neighborhood in Salinas look no further. All the major stores and groceries are at walking distance which is a major plus for someone like us who had only one car in the family.Plenty of guest parking. The manager Susan and all the maintenance staff are very professional.Any maintenance issues were taken care of promptly. As mentioned in the earlier reviews there are a lot of rules but those are all necessary for effective management. Overall I highly recommend Fox Creek Apartments. read more

I loved these apartments!! Everything from the manager to the amenities was great! The manager is very polite and respectful. The apartment s are very nice and you pay for what you get. I would have never moved but I bought my own place. Very quiet area. I highly recommend this for a family. read more

I have lived here for a few months and can't find anything I don't love about it. I came here from a community I had lived in for 6 years and going from there to here made me appreciate everything this community has. The landlord and maintenance are the best! If there's ever any problem they're quick to fix it. You can tell how much they care about our community. Everyone is super friendly too! We have 24 hour security, and tons of other amazing amenities such as a pool, gym, sauna, hot tub, tennis court... If you're looking for an apartment that isn't your typical Salinas apartment... you have to check this community out. read more

As a very opinionated person I usually have one complaint. Nope, not here! I love living here. My neighbors are all quiet and friendly. The gym is small but everything works! (in my last apartment it was big but the machines NEVER worked). The whole apartment looks good. Location is amazing! I walk everywhere!! read more

I have been living at Fox Creek Village for over a year now, and as the five star rating says, it's "as good as it gets". You can't beat the price, location, and amenities at Fox Creek if you want to live in Salinas. First of all, they have washers and dryers in every unit, which is enough to sell me. The apartments are kept very clean and up-to-date. They are the nicest apartments I have seen in Salinas. I was even able to pick out my own accent color (You know, for an accent wall. I didn't even know apartments let you do that). The staff is extremely kind and helpful. For the sake of other readers and new renters, I'm going to dive into some more specific details. Touching on the last review; Rules: Yes, there are a lot of rules, but they are good rules worth having. I already lived at a complex where people blasted their music with their windows wide open, or openly yelled at their kids in the parking lot. No, thank you. I like the "quiet hours". They are reasonable and, unless you really need to BLAST some music, you are not going to make enough noise for it to be an issue. If you aren't sure, ask your neighbor. The only person who may have an issue is the person you live below or above, and it really isn't that hard to check with them to make sure your noise level isn't bad. It's a kind and decent thing to do. Personally, the only rules I am sad about are the strict pet rules. I believe you can have a dog or cat (which I'm not interested in, so I don't know off the top of my head), but I am sad that you can't have pets such as lizards, snakes, birds and anything over a 10 gallon tank. I am a huge animal lover, so luckily I work at a ranch/ for a dog breeder. Aside from that, I have never had any issues or complaints about any of the rules. Perhaps I haven't explored the rules far enough to have any issues, but regardless, no issues here. Again, in response to the last review; Parking: There is always extra parking in the back. I know, because I live in the back, next to the overflow parking. If you don't live right next to the overflow parking, then you might have to walk a minute to get to your front door, but the complex is not that big. Seriously, it probably wouldn't hurt anyone to walk a little bit. The only time I could see this being a real issue is if you have groceries or small kids to deal with (with a stroller and stuff). The overflow parking stretches across the entire apartment complex along the back side. Unless you live in the front, you won't have to walk that far. Now, onto a key detail; Location: I don't know about you, but this is always a key selling point for me. Fox Creek Village has an amazing location. It is so convenient. Target? Right down the street. Safeway? Down the street. Costco? Across the highway, but still very close. South Salinas is a safer area, but it is far less convenient and way more desolate. On the flip side, the location is also potentially the only part about Fox Creek that I could find any sort of negative. The area immediately surrounding the complex isn't necessarily the safest (I wouldn't go for a walk after it gets dark). However, Fox Creek has security patrol the premises in the evening. Overall, Fox Creek has countless of great amenities (pool, hot tub, sauna, workout room, and tennis courts), the grounds are kept clean, the apartments are very clean and continually updated, the staff is extremely friendly (Susan is so sweet and helpful), the price is great (I am renting a 2 bed, 2 bath), and it has a washer and dryer in every unit (seriously, need I say more?). For the price, I couldn't find a better apartment (and I searched very diligently for a long time). Finally, even though the surrounding areas aren't as safe, I would not trade this location for where I used to live in Salinas, and I wouldn't want to be in any other location really because it would be less convenient. read more

Don't get me wrong..the grounds are kept up and it's quiet. I felt like I was in a prison. To many rules and restrictions. It seemed to me that everyone was in someone else's business. The apartments could use some updating. The parking SUCKS! It is like playing musical cars, just to get a spot. Not enough parking!! The office is hardly open and the manager seems to take way to much time off. The office should be open 7 days a week with 24 hr service just in case of an emergency. read more

My family and I lived here for nearly 2 years (our 2nd child was born while living here) and we loved it. The facilities are clean and quiet and the majority of the neighbors are friendly. The staff was polite and courteous - phone calls were always returned promptly and maintenance was always performed quickly. My 4-year-old daughter especially loved the pool area. I would highly recommend this complex to any families that are looking for a clean and quiet place to live. If you're looking for a place to party all the time, this is not the place for you. read more

This place might be a nice place to live, but be aware. The lady on the phone was very nice until I told her that my autistic son has a therapeutic companion dog. These dog have rights under the ADA. When I explained that he has papers and I would be glad to supply them to her she politely hung up on me. Discrimination sucks. Susan, I just thank you for having such rude response back to me. By not answering you I was exercising the old saying of if you can't be nice don't say anything. I feel that if you did your homework you would understand that a therapeutic companion dog is the same as emotional support dog. And what the not so nice lady said to me on the phone was that you, Fox Creek, does not take companion dogs. In your email repose to me when you asked me to take my review down and then proceeded to threaten me with what you would post, I decided that I would exercise my right to free speech and leave it up. Then you had the audacity to ask me to apply for an apartment. Uh I think Not! I just had to laugh. Why would I want to be charged a fee to apply and then just be turned down. read more

Fox Creek is a great community to be a part of. I have lived here for almost 3 years and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Susan is great to work with and she is very accommodating when it came to scheduling an appointment to see the units, emailing paper work for us to complete, and for being our point of contact for any issues. Our handy man Danny walks around the apartment complex and he arrives promptly if you have any issues in your unit. We have security that roams the complex nightly to ensure everyone's safety. Susan has put on a few gatherings for the apartment complex and it's a great opportunity to meet your neighbors. Currently the apartment complex is getting a face lift from the outside and some of the units are also being updated as well. All the updates will help make the place look even better. It's a very clean, quiet, convenient, and safe place to live. Thanks for such an awesome experience. read more

I give those place 2 stars for certain reasons. I made an appointment to see apartments and 1 the office is closed due to remodeling, okay that I can understand. So I was directed into a model apartment that was already fixed up. Here's the problem I get to the door and I'm welcomed in to see the place lady gave me no introduction of her name or asked for mine. To be honest it looked like she just woke up from sleeping in the room. So she lets me look around and doesn't bother to show me around. I honesty felt I was not welcomed there as we left she did not even give me an application! Very unprofessional and I can care less if you write back to say any different. Over all this place looks great just lacking comfort and hospitality! read more

During my five years of residency here, I have never had a problem or complaint toward the management of Fox Creek Village. Whenever I have any maintenance issue, I leave a message with the office and it's taken care of the next day. A washer and dryer are included with the rent, an outstanding time and money saving addition. The landscaping is always clean and well maintained. There is a very nice swimming pool and tennis court. The manager, Susan, likes to hold occasional events such as potlucks, pool parties, Salsa classes, etc., to allow the residents a time to get to know each other. Last Christmas, she threw a potluck party and personally brought plates to the elder people living here! Along with Susan's friendly approach, she works hard to keep the resident safe. I must say I don't think of this area as the safest in California, but I feel safe in this apartment complex even though it's not gated. I lived in a much more expensive gated apartment a few blocks away before moving to Foxcreek, but the gate was always broken and stuck open with several crimes occurring. This apartment complex is very quiet, which I love very much. There are some rules (no booming car stereos, no laundry after 10 pm), these help to keep the noise level down. Everyone here seems to care for their neighbors and watch out for each other. I highly recommend Fox Creek Apartments. read more

Going on 6 years now at this place and I still love it. It is well managed and they are continually are putting money into it to keep it maintained. And it's super quiet here. read more

Well... I don't know what to say. Wishing the amenities weren't only for appearance. Went down to check out the dry sauna, waited 30 minutes and it was barely room temperature. When I walked into my apartment, it was hot compared to the sauna. Went online to Google how long it should take to warm up a dry sauna and Google says pretty much 40-60 minutes. This sauna's self-timer only goes up to 30 minutes and I'm pretty sure the heat gage is broken. ?? So I'm thinking I either have to sit there for an hour staring at the wall to see if it will even heat up or go to the sauna 2 times to heat it and a 3rd to use it. As I sat in the dark, clean gym room staring at the cold pool and cold jacuzzi I realized I need to find a spa or a gym stat. The upside is I really like living at Fox Creek Village. It's clean, quiet, for the most part safe, and neighbors are generally friendly. Front staff is friendly and helpful and maintenance guy is great. I guess I'll see if the pool/jacuzzi area becomes a mob scene come Spring due to it being closed 5 months of the year. read more

I have been renting here at Fox Creek for 3 years and have had a very positive experience. I highly recommend these apartments if you are looking for a clean, quite, well maintained apartment with friendly staff and neighbors. I disagree with the other review that claimed there were too many rules and restrictions. The rules are common sence/ common courtesy and are why the apartments are quite and clean! I have never had any issues with not being able to get ahold of someone in the office and I am aware of the 24 hour emergency call service because I was given this information upon moving in. And as for parking, you are given an assigned parking spot and there is ample unassigned spots at a first come first serve basis. In the three years I have been here I have never not been able to find parking spots for my two cars and have never felt that I was playing "musical cars". I would, and do recommend these apartments to family and friends. Just wanted to add a little update to this review. My family and I have now moved out of Fox Creek, only leaving because we now require a 3 bedroom. And even though we were moving out and would no longer be their tentants, Susan and her staff did everything they could to keep my moving out charges to a minimum and it was greatly appreciated! We really enjoyed our 3 1/2 years living there. A big thanks to Susan and her staff! read more

I have been renting from Fox Creek for the last year and I am very pleased. Everyone is very polite and the facility is kept very well. It did have it's good qualities like having a washer and dryer in the unit. But the bad out weighed the good. Manager was not professional at all; she needs to learn better communication skills, she comes has a rude sarcastic tone when talking to her. When she has "problems" with tenants she likes to excuse people instead of asking; which is the proper and professional way to do things. For apartments that have security I can't understand why one of my cars was broken into twice! Both times during the holidays and around 10:00pm at night, a time when I know people were awake but no one said they saw or heard anything, didn't help the security never called back and the cops came hours later. Uhhh don't get me started on neighbors....everyone was rude!! No one says hi, if anything they gave dirty looks or don't acknowledge at you at all. I could just go on! To make a long story short the fact that I didn't even want to live there a year should tell you something. read more

It sucks that I can't give ZERO stars because this place deserves nothing more. Pros... I can't think of any. Seriously. Maybe the location (close to malls that is so dangerous that the security has to wear bullet proof vests and a shopping center that is right across the street where drug deals go down even in the middle of the day! I know... I used to work there). Cons... -Walls are so thin that your neighbors alarm clock can wake you up! -You are not permitted to do your laundry past 10pm even if your apartment has one inside. -You must have your alarm deactivated because the arming/disarming is a disruption to the peace and quiet that is just impossible to achieve with such thin walls. -Dumpters are large and plentifull... but you have to squeeze your garbage inside a 14" hole in the top... otherwise you get charged! -If your car leaks ANY kind of fluid (even water!) of ANY amount... you get charged $35. First time you get warned... second time you get an orange sticket... third time you get towed! So just don't leave your car there and go out of town with friends. -No air conditioning! A fan just can't cool off the entire apartment you know. -Utilities paid... water and garbage (as long as it can fit through the tiny hole as listed above) -WAY overpriced! $1,000 for 708 sq ft even though their website says $850. -The advertise a gym but there is not one on location! Anywhere! -Even while applying to live there... they don't give you the status of your application until over a month later! -No fireplace as advertised. -They don't allow pets of ANY kind. -Dryer didn't work when moved in. -Thermostat didn't work when moved in. -Before moving in it took them 5 weeks to prepare and fix the place up after the contract was signed and the place STILL looked like crap! -If you work nights DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! The walls are so thin and with so much noise outside and no air conditioning you WILL NOT get any rest! SERIOUSLY! Here is their website... but almost everything listed is false. Give them a call and find out for yourselves! 831-449-1800 http://foxcreekvillage.vflyer.com/home/flyer/home/1448183 read more

My husband and I recently moved to Salinas from San Diego for work and checked out Fox Creek on a Craigslist ad. The remodeled units were very nice. Two of the girls I work with who live here in un-remodeled units though say their apartment is very old looking and complain that the kitchen is too small. We were told we'd have to wait over 8 weeks for a remodeled unit. While the units and the property were very nice, I have to say that working with Susan, the manager who has been there many years (I was told), was very unpleasant for me. I called many times inquiring about the apartment and did not receive a call back until days later. And when I tried to schedule a meeting with her I found she was often gone a lot or closed the office early. When I finally did meet with her, I drove over 40 miles from work racing to meet with her before the office closed and found that her manner with me was very discourteous. Her attitude was impersonal and rude she made it clear that despite me and my husband's efforts to comply with the application demands, she was unwilling to work with us. The information about the units I received on the phone, in the craigslist ad, and in person talking to the manager were all very conflicting and I am now convinced that the for rent sign outside their complex is always up, with no actual unit available. Luckily, my husband, my baby, and I are now happily living elsewhere, but working with Fox Creek was definitely an unpleasant welcome for us to Salinas. read more
