Beautiful restaurant with a very friendly staff. I live out of town and come to visit family. When I do we always get an entire cake to take home -- which is strange but that is how amazing the blackberry wine cake is. Never had anything like it. I was in town all the way from Orlando, FL to furniture shop and found this restaurant on Yelp. It has really high ratings. So, I decided to give it a try. The atmosphere is really nice and the service is great. Everyone is super pleasant. The food is just 'ok'. I ordered the lamb chops. I asked for medium rare. They were heavily charred on the outside, well-done and cold. The sesame rice was cold as well. It tasted like they had cooked the entree in advance, taken it out of the refrigerator and re-heated when the order was placed. I had the creme brulee for dessert and it was the same condition as the entree...heavily charred on the outside and ice cold inside. The sugar coating on the top was rubbery. Normally, when you torch sugar it's crispy and crunchy to contrast the creaminess of the custard. Unfortunately, the custard was ice cold, overly sweet and lumpy. I really want to go back, but common sense says that I should not pay $40 for a meal that is not satisfactory. So, I will have to pass. read more

Food was significantly lacking for the price, the steaks are way smaller than stated on the menu. Had very little flavor and the vegetables tasted like something you microwave from the freezer section. We had two appetizers that were just okay. The food is always good, the service is amazing and the music is great because most of the time it's Live. The only downside.... if any.... the menu is always the same. You go today, 3 months from now or next year... menu is the same. However, it never fails, it's always tasteful and enjoyable. The cocktails are very good as well and the wine choices are also excellent. If you want a local restaurant serving a great meal visit after visit and you get treated like a friend, then this is your place! We will be back!!! read more

My boyfriend and I visited for Queen's Feast Restaurant Week. The inside is spacious with nice decor. Bathrooms were very clean and they even have a nice changing table for moms with little ones. The food was great. I had the crusted salmon and my boyfriend had the prime rib which were both cooked to perfection. The bread pudding was ok, I would've preferred it to be a little more moist. Overall the hour drive was worth it and we'll definitely be back. read more

11/27/19: Came here for AppyHour with my cousin! Phenomenal!! Amazing bar service. Had the bartender create one of my favorite drinks that wasn't on the menu called, The Lortz - basil gimlet martini with egg white foam. Had everyone at the bar asking what that drink was. Even had the chef come out to speak to me about it as well as the manager. Great place to just have drinks and meetups with. Very professional staff, amazing ambiance, and a great bartender. Remember ask for The Lortz, I'm sure the bartender will know what you are speaking about. read more

We have 4 restaurants that are our favorites and Fourk is one of them. We always sit at the bar with our favorite bartenders who are there on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Food is excellent, we have had appetizers and main courses and have not been disappointed. We will continue to enjoy. read more

Looking for a spot last minute after our conference .. and so thankful that Yelp popped this one up! A bit tricky to find with GPS taking us to odd spots (what with Hickory's beyond "logical" street names .. do be sure to include all the steer name .. even the NE or SE or you end up in a different part of town!) Nice decor and a wonderful, attentive waiter who obviously loves where he works and is excited about the cuisine and beverages! There were seven of us and he did wonderfully taking care of all our special requests (one gluten-free member of the group). He offered a unique wine and all the food specials in detail and with excitement. (Wish we'd gotten his name). Drinks came around and I had a "stout" .. that was the most unusual stout I've ever had. PB Jelly (?) I believe it was called. Cloudy, unfiltered and a very interesting flavor. There was a wonderful scallops special side for $7 that the chef was offering and most of us got it along with appetizers for our light-end meals. The scallops were cooked to perfection! (Not an easy task and rarely accomplished). The Lobster Rangoon (my friend let me taste and I'm a New Englander so ..) was wonderfully flavorful with the lobster taking top taste. My quinoa salad was very nice with the goat cheese, but there was more kale in it than quinoa (I think I was expecting more a risotto style "salad"). And we all kicked in at the end for the blackberry cake. SO light a cake with wonderful flavor, a light frosting and blackberry compote. There was just enough for all, but not nearly. We were all left wanting more. I wish I lived in the area .. I would definitely come here more often! So far this week Hickory has offered wonderful restaurants with amazing flavors and high-end cooking and flavor skills. I'm impressed! read more

We went here tonight to celebrate a special event for my husband. The food was great and the staff awesome. They went way above and beyond to make it feel special. I was visiting from out of state. We decided to eat local and not at a chain (seems to be plenty in Hickory). Based on the reviews we chose this place. As we were walking in a couple that was on their way out were raving about the establishment, we were now definitely looking forward to having our dinner here! As we entered EVERYONE was Absolutely Friendly (genuinely)! We were really looking forward to our entire dining experience... Our server Brittany was Amazing! Super nice, gave recommendations, offered advice and pairings. All of the food we had was very Salty !!! Both of us actually said it at the same time too! We had a French Onion Soup, Lobster Bisque, Scallops Rockefeller & 2 Stuffed Chicken dishes 1 with charred asparagus & 1 with Zucchini/Carrots... Overall, the variety, portions, price, selection of wines, cleanliness, service & ambiance was a good 4/5 stars, because everything was so salty I would give a 3.5 (perhaps the chef is a smoker?- they cannot taste the salt content) read more

So, I came to Hickory for a conference. I just FID NOT want to eat at a regular spot. Yelp lead me to several neat places. I kept going back to Fourk.....so I decided to go. I was greeted warmly and sat down my server came out immediately his name was Miguel. Happy to be at work! Love that for sure! He led the way for my dining experience. It really was. He recommended a wine that I liked. The dish I had seen on the menu originally was not on the menu once got there. I told him that's what I wanted. They "kinda" made it for me. Let me just say the scallops were cooked PERFECTLY. Delish.... The sides were so-so. I had roasted fingerling potatoes and Brussel sprouts. The potatoes tasted steamed not roasted and they were a bit dry. Brussels sprouts had a phenomenal flavor. I ate every bite. House made apple dumpling for desert. Melted in my mouth. In hindsight I should've gotten the fillet with a side of scallops. Nonetheless this place is a joke I will come back here next time I'm in Hickory. We had dinner at the bar, bartender Liza was great. Very friendly, warm and a good reason to become a regular. She sold me on the Md Crab special and it was perfect- lightly breaded, served with a semi rich mussel sauce (a bit salty) but the kale, beet slaw toned out the salt and the quinoa was great with crisp vegetables. My hubby missed talking sports with Dave but Liza is great , she recommended dinner the NY cheesecake (not dense kind) was awesome, strawberry topping was homemade and not filled with sugar- very subtle. Hubby had prime rib and it was okay- he's had better there so ask your server, they truly guide you to the best entrees. read more

The food was good. The mahi-mahi i highly recommend. It was great. Our waiter Miguel was wonderful! The atmosphere was nice but unfortunately the live music was too loud. Went to Fourk to with my friend's family to celebrate an accomplishment. Her family made reservervations and we were seated immediately. The entire evening we were the only party in the restaurant besides a small party of 2 and some individuals at the bar. When our waiter introduced himself he discussed the restaurant and the awards it had won. He went on and on and on.... at certain point it was almost too much. It is important to know what others think (as we all know on yelp) but I also don't really care what a judge thought of your food at a festival that one time... impress me with my meal tonight! The food was delicious and everything was cooked perfectly. However, the food is very rich. Make your stomach hurt later in the evening kind of rich - but it tastes so good! I think it has to do with the fact that many of the dishes had a rich creamy sauce. read more

The tomato cucumber gazpacho was different as in not really a soup but more a mixture of cut tomatoes and cucumber. Visited Fourk for lunch and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant has a great ambiance; there's plenty of space and they have outdoor seating for when the weather is nice. The restaurant was nicer than I anticipated, I almost felt underdressed in t-shirt and jeans. The food was fantastic: it was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The Grilled Chicken sandwich was juicy and a great mixture flavors, definitely something I would recommend. Service was superb. Our waiter was extremely friendly, ensured our drinks were never empty, and prompt. The menu was slightly different than their website, my wife was surprised to see the Fourk Grilled Cheese missing from the menu. We were very pleased to learn that they offer a kid's menu with typical kid fare (fried chicken tenders, pasta, grilled cheese). My only annoyance was the lack of high chairs, my wife and I had to hold our son for the duration of lunch. This wouldn't stop me from visiting again but it's something to consider for those with small children. read more
