I really enjoyed my experience at this winery. The service was great from all staff, very welcoming the moment my family and I sat down. We did enjoy sitting and looking out at the spectacular view our table had, we really lucked out that day with the weather. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the wines they offer have a lot of potential. I would love to see them expand their wine selection, with more variety in primarily dry red wine, as well as some different styles for guests to explore. A broader selection would make it even easier for everyone to find something they love. My family and I aren't very big on white wines so expanding their red wine flavors would help exponentially attract more people in the future. Overall, it's a great place with plenty of potential, and I look forward to seeing what they add. read more

I discovered that Four Sisters Winery hosted a "Murder Mystery Dinner" and decided to gift the experience to my BFF for her birthday. We arrived about 45 minutes early so we grabbed a seat under the tent on the patio along with a mini flight and listened to the musician perform playing until it was time to be seated inside for the dinner. The dinner came along with a tasting of 7 different wines, all of which were pretty good. The hosts explained how to properly experience a tasting for anyone who was new to wine tastings which I thought was really nice. Dinner was served after the tasting which in all honesty I had very low expectations of but was pleasantly surprised by because the chicken Parmesan and pasta that was served was really flavorful and filling! There was also a salad and cake served as well. After dinner it was time for the mystery to begin which required participation from 8 members from the audience to be actors .... of course my BFF and I became a part of the cast of 8 lol and it was honestly really fun! Overall it was a great experience and I recommend trying it if you're looking for something out of the ordinary as a date idea or as an outing for friends. read more

I went there on my way back to Jersey with my boyfriend. The place is small but charming. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by the hostess. She wasn't the one who did the tasting, but the person who did was quite knowledgeable about the winery's history and the winemaking process. She was delightful! We ordered a charcuterie board to pair with the tasting and played chess and cards. It was a great time. I would definitely recommend this place!it exceeded my expectations. Do. Not. Come! I traveled 3 1/2 hours for their "Grape Stomp" event and it was absolutely a scam. To preface, I went to a true, authentic grape stomp in 2018 on Long Island and it was immaculate: barrels filled to the top with true wine grapes, everyone received their own barrel, got a picnic basket, etc. At Four Sisters, I was told we'd receive wine tasting, a wine glass to take home, bread, salad, chicken parm and chocolate cake and time to stomp grapes. I was intrigued at the low price ($42.50 per person) so I decided it would be a great day for my husband and I so we signed up. On our ticket, (which listed the wrong time - I also received another email confirmation with the wrong date) they wrote if you are more than 15 minutes late to the reservation, they'd try to accommodate you. Well, we left early, but hit MAJOR traffic on our way. I called the winery for over an hour and no one would pick up the phone. I wanted to make sure my day did not go to waste and they would still take us. Eventually, someone answered, and when I told them I've been calling for an hour, she rudely said "well, we've been busy". Lie. When we got there, the winery was empty and a woman worker was sitting alone in the front. Anyway, since we were 45 minutes late, we missed the beginning of the wine tasting, but our wine educator quickly caught us up. I will say that the wines we tried were delicious. Everyone that worked there was very nice and helpful, but I came for the grape stomp. Our food was brought out and the garlic bread was cooked on a mini cheeseburger slider bun. It was disgusting and weird. My chicken parm was awful and NOT what we are used to on Long Island. Then, instead of receiving a chocolate cake like I was told, we received box mixed cake that someone totally made from their home kitchen. It had to be Betty Crocker. Not from a bakery. Again, disgusting and weird. Then, the best part happens. We find out that we're all sharing one barrel for the grape stomp. LOL, WHAT?! WHO SHARES A BARREL WITH OTHER'S FEET! I'm glad I was not the only one pissed about this because I heard a few others saying this was misleading. Some left. I was pissed to say the least. My husband and I stomped in the barrel for at most 30 seconds each because everyone was waiting on line. I can't explain how awkward and uncomfortable it was. Did I mention that the grapes they threw in the barrel were literally store bought? I kid you not. I buy those grapes at my local supermarket. We were there for an hour and 15 minute tops. On the way out, I noticed how unkept and messy their vines looked (with was basically nonexistent). The outdoor bathrooms has bugs in them. I am currently sitting in 3 1/2 hours worth of more traffic. Buyer beware. read more

What a shame. This place could and should be great. For at least the last 5 years we've gone here after getting our tree with a group of friends. And yesterday we collectively decided, we're done. I don't like being anywhere where we feel like we're bothering the staff. With exception to the young girl running the register, everyone else, especially the woman doing the tasting, acted like someone stole their broomstick that morning. This has to be one of the most busy days of their year. How about a fire pit? How about some music? How about some holiday decorations? How about a smile and a laugh and a welcome to our winery? I went here for a grape stomping class and it was absolutely fantastic! Four Sisters was named after the four daughters of Matty Matarazzo, who owns Matarazzo Farms. The vineyards were first planted in 1981 to see how well the grapes would grow. In 1984, the winery officially opened to the public. The class was held indoor and COVID restrictions were in place, such as social distancing and wearing masks. We were taught the 4 S of wine tasting: seeing, swirling, smelling, and sipping. We were taught to look for the clear layer on top of the wine, referred to as the halo. While swirling, we looked at the legs, or how long the wine sticks to the side of the glass which shows its alcohol content and how sweet it is. Swirling also introduces oxygen into the wine, which enhances the taste. The last S, sipping, is for the taste, which is usually revealed by the 3rd sip. We sampled 9 wines, which were available for purchase at the winery for very reasonable prices. After sampling, lunch was served: chicken parm with salad and bread and chocolate cake for dessert. The grape stomping was so unique and unlike anything I've ever done. It was indoor because it was still cold out, but everyone was distanced and masks were worn. The grapes were cold and mushy, but I enjoyed it so much! When I finished, wipes were provided and my feet were kinda cold from the grapes. Interestingly, they also felt so soft and clean, like I'd just gotten a pedicure. This was such a great event and worth the drive. I had some amazing wines, my favorites being Merrill Blush, Beaver Creek Red, and Holiday Seasoned. If you're thinking about doing the grape stomping or just visiting the winery, I highly recommend it! read more

I hate to do this since the staff were nice, but this grape stomping event was a hot mess. Where to begin? My friend and I anxiously awaited for this day since we purchased tickets more than 2 months ago. After all, it isn't everyday you get to make wine the old fashioned way by stomping on grapes in a barrel! We were excited to mimic the I Love Lucy episode! For $37, it would include a tour, wine tastings, a meal, souvenir wine glass and the grape stomping. Everything we envisioned was the total opposite. When we arrived (note--it is quite far, near the Delaware Water Gap), we were shown to a table where my friend and I sat across from one another. It was a table of 8 and there were, in addition, 5 other tables. We quickly became friendly with two lovely women who were also friends. We got a short intro about how the vineyard got its name in 1984 and has been operational ever since, now expanding to the new generation of the family. We each had a sheet outlining the wines we would taste according to category--dry, semi-dry, sweet and dessert. There were 11 in total. I may not be a wine expert, but there was not one wine that I could see myself having an entire glass. Each was worse than the previous one. Among the 4 of us, we described some of them as Welch's grape, cough syrup and just plain odd. It even failed the numbers theory--surely one out of the 11 had to be good, right? Nope. Our meal was served soon after we were done with the tastings. Wine by the glass or bottle was available for purchase with the meal, otherwise, it was warm water. The meal was atrocious. Spaghetti and meatballs for everyone else but my friend and I requested pasta with vegetables. The pasta seemed to be more than al dente (stuck together) and the few pieces of vegetables were oily and overcooked. Bread and salad were served along with the pasta. My high school cafeteria served better food and they were bad. Dessert was also served and resembled a dry, inedible 5 day old chocolate cake. Sorry but it was terrible. Dessert wine was served with the cake that we didn't eat---blueberry, raspberry and strawberry. Again, not good. Once done with our meal, which was held indoors in a carpeted and paneled room, we were split into two groups for the tour and grape stomping. The tour was 10 minutes and we were shown the fiberglass vats which housed the grapes for wine production. The final part was the grape stomping---totally unlike what my friend and I visualized. One small barrel where groups or pairs took turns to step on previously smashed grapes. There was a rinsing basin to wash off your feet. My friend and I declined to participate in this activity as it seemed very unsanitary. We couldn't fathom one barrel for the 20 people waiting. Ridiculous. We left 30 minutes earlier with souvenir glass in hand in disbelief at how poorly executed this event was. Everything was bad across the board--wine, food, tour and the stomping. Such a let down. Do yourself a favor and avoid (we grabbed some real food and wine once we left). read more

It's been a while from our last visit and it was overdue. Check in procedure has changed due to covid but aside from that the overall wine tasting experience was good. Our wine hostess Melissa was wonderful, she gave us plenty of information regarding the wines we'd be tasting and the grapes used for the process of the specific wine. Today's entertainment was provided by Joe Izen, a truly gifted musician who opened for Joe Cocker and Richie Havens in his early days. I like sweet wines and Four Sisters definitely had their fair share of them. Tastings are free here. I came on a Sunday with a friend when they were holding a fall festival. There was no charge to walk in and they had live music. I don't know if there tastings are normally done outside or if it was because of the festival but because it was so cold we spent barely any time here. They have an area inside where you can sit but it's kind of like sitting in a room in someone's house. There was nobody sitting in here and no music. Just a couple of tables with chairs. This winery is currently for sale (the owner is looking to spend more time with his grandchildren), so I'm not sure how much longer it will be operating. read more

My husband and I came here at about 3pm on a Saturday afternoon. My husband paid for a wine tasting for himself, and I got an iced tea since I don't drink wine. The girl at the door was very nice and accommodating as we put a food order in of fish tacos and pizza with pepper and onion. We walk into the wine tasting/cafe area on the deck and handed the guy behind the bar our receipt. He started the wine tasting right away and the bazaar experience began. He never offered to get me my iced tea, even though I wasn't drinking wine. I figured I'd wait to get my food since he was busy with 2 wine tastings. Halfway through our food came out and my husband asked if it was okay we sit and eat, them come back and finish the wine tasting. They stayed open for another hour, so we didn't think we'd be holding anyone up. He responded by excitedly saying we should stay there and let him finish the wine list, as he "has to get out of there soon." I then asked about possibly getting a small sample of the wine slushy, since I didn't have a drink yet and it looked good. He responded with "Oh that, yeah I don't know anything about that. They say it has wine in it, but I don't know" And that was it. The sign said $10 wine slushy, and the machine was right behind him, but he literally blew us off and responded with some nonsense that didn't make sense. After he handed us our food, I had to ask for my iced-tea. He ignored me, then a minute later got me my tea. But didn't fill it up. I had to ask he top it off since it was a 1/4 empty. Once again he ignored me, then another minute later took it and filled it up. At that point we knew he was in a rush to leave and couldn't contain his rudeness. What a jerk. Once we sat down and started eating, I realized how disgusting my pizza was. Sauce tasted like ketchup and there was so much of it it came pouring out the sides when I bit into it. I couldn't eat more than a few bites. The fish taco's were like a sample, and had barely any fish in them at all. The scenery is beautiful and the musician playing was very nice guy. I'm bewildered why the wine tasting host was so rude. We arrived about 3:30, not at the very last minute. I would not go back here after that. Wine host guy needs to find another job or learn how to handle himself around guests. The iced tea was delicious though. read more

If you want to go on a gorgeous drive through some of NJ's gorgeous farming areas then this is your destination. We were hoping to see the leaves at their peak but were a week or so too early for that. Previous reviews seem to be focused more on the taste of the wine and less on the beauty of the vineyard. The tasting is free, but it is a tasting. Taste a swallow of your wine, then buy the bottle to enjoy on the property. We tried 2 or 3 wines and chose our favorite. The wines are sweet so if that's not your style be warned. We bought our bottle $14 and a cheese platter $5 and grabbed a seat on the deck overlooking the vineyard. The winery will open the bottle and supply you with glasses. The view was postcard pretty. We took a walk in the fields and had a very relaxing time. read more

Wine, wine, give me a generous pour! With two close and dear friends for a day trip to Belvidere, NJ, we imbibe white, red, semi-sweet, sweet, Rosé and specialty wines. For thirty years this NJ winery is family own and operated on premises. Four Sisters Winery is named after the owner's four daughters to finance all four higher education studies (both Bachelor's and Master degrees). On a Saturday afternoon we were given a tour of their cellar and vineyard, which here lies eight acres of wine and fiber glass barrels. The tour and lecture is very informative and resourceful as we imbibe the before sulfites are added in barrel and after processed in bottled form. The owners also own a 250 acres farm land growing fruit and vegetables aside from a winery. Paid tasting + wine glass purchase cost for one adult totals approx. $14.00. I personally have a small collection of local NJ and NYS winery and vineyard glasses in my curio cabinet. Staff was very attentive to our tastings and questions. Their wine list was very resourceful outlining Four Sisters' entire wine selection with bottled price, brief description, year separating from wines, reds, semi-sweet, sweet, and specialty. Free crackers, bread are available for cleaning one's palette. Parking is ample and facilities are clean. Giving one star because there's no other option .. frankly it is the worse winery I've ever been too , got there at 10am and they weren't open yet ( paper said they open at 10am ) than went to have sone wine taste in the smaller room on earth and this one lady was basically TRYING without success to handle the tasting and the front of the store at the same time .. simply ridiculous , we sat there for at least 15-20 minutes waiting so she just decided to leave .. thank heavens for yelp we actually found another winery 15 minutes away where they were actually open on time and had people with knowledge of the wine to serve us.. The winery is pretty, or at least the setting is pretty. Went to a bachelorette party. I don't recommend it for this type of activity. We did wine tasting, grape stomping and dinner. They seated us under a tent with 2 other parties, one birthday, one I am not sure what the celebration was. The wine tasting was OK. It was followed by what they called dinner, which consisted of school lunch chicken patty, cold zucchini and squash that were tasteless and a half cup of salad on a plate with half a roll. It was awful. Wine stomping was in a barrel that only held one person, for fun we squeezed in 2, but the grapes were store bought, not home grown, and each party had their turn stomping, one person at a time, using the same grapes. Really disgusting. In a pandemic you would think they would at least use one barrel for each party so that you didn't have to stick your feet into the grapes after someone you never met. Or at least changed the grapes and cleaned it between parties. All in all, it was not worth the $45 with tax price tag. I don't recommend it for anything more than a wine tasting if you happen to be driving by. read more

I attended Four Sisters for the Grape Stomping Event. How disappointed was I!!!! They served food that was not very appetizing. It was edible, but not good. The wine is nice. Now... On to the tour. After sitting around waiting for the magical tour to happen, they lead us to the basement. She gave us some background on the fermentation process. Oh wee, how exciting! Not exactly the tour of the vineyard I expected. Finally, it was time to stomp some grapes. She began to pour a bag of grapes into a half barrel and said who goes first!!!! WHAT???? They have one barrel, for 20+ people. No sanitizing, no washing, just a barrel!!! I could not believe it! We didn't get to tour the grounds. It was really into a room to eat, sip some wine, into the basement and a barrel of grapes. I was so very disappointed. You can purchase wine, however skip the events! read more

Four Sisters has some pretty killer wine, but their tasting set up needs some work. The tasting is free and unlimited, but this unfortunately makes for a bit of a cluster at the tasting table! On the day I went it was particularly crowded and the line at the table was like three people deep. The lady doing the tasting was nice but clearly overwhelmed since she was the only one serving throngs of people. When I asked her how the tasting works she told me that I shout out what I want, and of she hears me she'll pour it. Probably not the most efficient system! Despite this madness they did have some really good wines. My favorite was Spicy Sisters which tasted like Christmas in a bottle. Bad business. Had out-of-town guests coming so i bought 12 tickets in advance for the Apple, Wine & Music Festival. There was supposed to be apple picking, corn maze, cellar tours & wine tasting. First off, we paid to go apple picking on trees that had mostly rotting apples. At most, we got 5 apples out of the whole orchard. Second, the corn maze was just okay. Nothing spectacular. Third, when I asked about the cellar tours, they said they weren't doing the cellar tours that day because they were understaffed. They should have had MORE people on staff for these events PLUS, I booked in advance! I'm sure I wasn't the only one who booked in advance. They should've had a ballpark figure of how many people were going to attend such event & staffed accordingly. All they really focused on was the wine tasting & making sure they made sales there! I decided to take a couple of friends for a ride and try the winery last Saturday. Very unorganized to say the least. We waited online for over an hour to get in without any signs or directions on what to do. While waiting on line I decided to go into the store to buy wine and glasses. The woman who waited on me never mentioned that we could buy our wine tasting ticket inside so we waited another 25 minutes to pay for our wine tasting. We also asked if we could order food and were told by a very cranky woman, that we could not order food for they were too busy. Understandable yet the people behind us that we waited on line with were sitting down eating for they went inside the store to buy wine and were sold their tasting ticket and along with some food. Very disappointing experience. One extra staff person or even 2 signs could have made a HUGE difference. There was a couple in front of us that came to view the winery for they were getting married there in a few weeks. They were told that they couldn't get a tour for the staff was too busy. No offer for a bottle of wine to enjoy while they sat and waited, no nothing. Very poor customer service. I hope they get better service at their wedding. read more

We attended the mothers day dinner this year. We arrived at Noon. The online advertising said food was served at 1pm. This was perfect as my wife had to leave fora flight at 1.30 pm and the car service was picking her up from the winery. This is the reason we chose this place...the times and location worked. The first issue was there was a wine tasting station and you could buy wine. The way they had it set up, there was one line for both. So you had to stand and wait approx 25 mins while folks in front of you tasted every wine, when you just wanted to buy a couple of bottles. After 20 mins I gave up and had free ice tea. At 1.10pm the food was not being served. I asked the organizer about it and she told me food was served at 1.30pm as advertised. I told her that the advertisement was 1pm, she argued. I returned with my cell phone and the website open, clearly showing 1pm. I explained that now my wife (her first mothers day as a mother) would not be able to eat and i wanted a refund for her. This was refused and i was offered credit for the winery. At this point we knew we would not be back so refused that. they agreed to put the fee back on my credit card. My wife left at 1.30pm and then the food came out. We were called up by table number starting at 1. We were table 4 and were in the first group called up. the food was cold. The quality may have been ok, if it was not cold. I hate to know how table 19's was. We ate quickly and decided not to risk desert and left immediately for Ritas. We wont be back there. read more

I bypassed this place for years, foolishly thinking that local wine ( northern New Jersey) could not possibly be any good. How wrong I was! The wine IS rather good. There are choices from among vinifera varietals, local varietals and fruit wines. Prices are reasonable in relation to the quality of the products, thus value is high. There is a tasting room, and the proprietors stage special events at various times of the year. Showroom staff are friendly and helpfull, if not terribly knowlegable. Apparently the winery is for sale, as the proprietors wish to retire. Here's hoping that the new owners carry on in the same excellent manner! read more

I've been to the Four Sisters winery on two different events (the annual winery festival and the ghost story dinner and wine tasting). On both occasions I had a really good time but I think this had more to do with the company I was with rather than the venue. Four Sisters wine tastings are really worth the excursion. The staff is knowledgable, and they offer enough varietals to really get the whole experience in one sitting. I've learned more about wine tasting here then at any other winery. Four Sisters events themselves seem to lack a certain finish/polish. During the wine festival, the food offerings were sparse which made a summer day of wine tasting a rather grueling event. The ghost story dinner offered a very bland spaghetti and meatballs for the dinner portion as well as an absolutely awful presentation of what turned out to be Revolutionary war history and why we shouldn't believe in ghosts (smh). Having said all that, this family owned winery is deserving of a visit for the wine tastings which they excel at. For their venues/events, other local wineries do it a bit better but I expect to see Four Sisters get better at these with time. read more

Based on some of the other reviews, I guess I was fortunate to come on a quiet day where there were only a handful of other people around. We had our tour and tasting with no hassle; our tour guide was very nice and informative as well. We were able to try about 6-7 wines from their collection and ultimately decided to purchase three. The winery was started to pay for the owners' daughters' educations and many of their wines are named after the now-grown daughters and grandchildren. Of those, we purchased Sadie's Apple. The grounds are well kept and spacious and can apparently host a wedding or other fancy events. The route to the winery is very beautiful as well. Overall, it can be a very romantic experience. While this was my first winery visit and wine tasting, I think it's a pleasant experience and I would return again. read more

Had my bridal shower here. The place is nice but very very small. Also the girls who work there are not friendly or organized. I was told how many tables and chairs there would be for 40 guests and there was a whole table of 8 missing! Very unorganized. I wish i knew how small it was, i would have never had it here. But now i know to go before booking anything. The wine was okay but I've had better. Not worth it for the price! customer service above and beyond - even with rude customers that didn't deserve such good service!

My husband and I LOVE this place. It's is so easy going and friendly, and we love the wide selection of wine. We're from the city so we were really taking a gamble when we decided to have our wedding here, far from everyone, but we loved driving down throughout the whole planning process. The staff are lovely people who always had time for us, even the handful of times we showed up unannounced. We had several wine tastings and loved the experience and the wine so much that we brought our families to do a tasting as well as our bridal party. Our wedding was a huge success and our guests had such a great time that we had to have the guest shuttle leave later then arranged so people could continue enjoying themselves. Our guests thought the wine was great and my sister in law was thrilled when the owner, Matty, gave us some complimentary wine the day after as a thank you. The winery is in a beautiful, rustic, peaceful setting and I can't wait for the weather to warm up so we can take the long drive back down there in the spring. Sitting on their patio, looking out to the gorgeous view of the mountains, and enjoying a bottle of wine... Best experience ever. And I've been to Napa. I visited wine country the summer after our wedding and four sisters just remains one of my favorite places. Oh and Ps. The blush wine was the one many of my guest enjoyed the most. read more
