Happy hour had great prices and we made it just in time for them to ring it up. We got a wine, beer and rum and coke. Cool atmosphere with TVs , cool bartenders and spacious seating. The bartender comes up to us after a bit and says "hey I made this espresso martini by mistake , do you guys want it ?" UHHH YEAHHHHHH. Haha we loved this . AND THEN! The other bartender went ahead and topped off the martini with some extra mix once we were off way done. So instead of throwing away the drink, they gave it to us and we tipped extra and they get a great review !!! The only reason I docked a star was that my dad said the men's bathroom was really really gross. So I would just say if they could clean that that would be great ! Very nice brewery set up with tons of indoor and outdoor seating! Decent selection of local beers on tap. The servers were very nice and let us know the specials. The server let us know that multiple menu items were unavailable, Im not sure if this is common or not but just mentioning as it could possibly happen to others. Thankfully the simple items that we wanted the burgers, chicken sandwiches, and mac n cheese were all available. The food and beer were both good, nothing crazy to blow your mind but pretty tasty! The food and drink at Foundry was great! We started with several appetizers- the family really liked the cauliflower. The chicken wings were exceptional. Nice and meaty, excellent sauces. We loved the Boom Boom the best. We also had the Hummus trio which I basically scraped every bite of. The feta dip was especially pleasing. As a group, we enjoyed several selections from the extensive beer and cocktail menu. I had the Ultimate Steak Melt, which was good but needed something else. Maybe a horseradish aioli or a steak sauce? Very generous portions though. Our waitress was a little lacking. I don't think she had the social skills or confidence for a server. Her behaviour was actually quite confusing. Maybe she was just overwhelmed? Anyway, it was a good experience and if I'm ever in the area I would definitely go back! read more

Had the chance to come here for dinner the other day and was greeted by Summer. She was also our bartender and was amazing and super friendly. The food and drinks were good. We had the chicken tacos and tenders! We also got to chat with the GM Amanda, also super welcoming friendly! Definitely will be back and the atmosphere was great! I've seen a lot of restaurants come and go in this spot, and I hope this is one of the ones that stays. We had an excellent experience with our waitress, Izzy, who was very friendly and attentive. She recommended us several menu items and did a fantastic job juggling multiple tables. I stepped outside my comfort zone and got a steak melt, and I ate the whole thing! Absolutely delicious, and they were happy to accommodate removing the pickle on the side and the sauce and onions from the sandwich. The appetizers were delicious as well. We have been here a few times before and liked it. Something was definitely off it has changed. We went in tonight Sunday night of Labor Day weekend. The patio was half empty and hostess told the group in front of us who had 8 in their party that they couldn't push two tables of four together (2 feet between them) on the patio even though they were vacant, to accommodate their group sitting together. The Foundry Craft Grillery is worth your salt. Kick back in the outdoor dining area or pull up a seat in the friendly confines of the bar. Our Chicken Tacos were excellent - a delicious combination of ingredients which was well-prepared. Likewise, the Chicken Quesadilla was a big improvement over what most bars offer. The sandwiches at the tables around us looked tasty; we look forward to trying them next time. One more thing. The tacos were late in coming. The kitchen prepared them wrong, pitched them, and cooked up a fresh set, which we thoroughly enjoyed. When the server brought them out, she apologized for the late delivery and explained what had happened. That scored points with us. If she hadn't told us, we'd have assumed the kitchen was normally slow, and not have come back. As it is, we know this was an unusual situation, and unlikely to happen again. The important thing is that she was forthright about what happened. She had to know she might be inviting a rebuke. But she chose to be honest, come what may. That reflects well on her. It is a very cool looking place, and the servers are fine. The issue is with the food. It is overpriced for just ok food. Their 'cheese curds' are awful with a weird sauce-not even cheese curds at all. The chicken and waffles is overly sweet and would be better without the amount of syrup and sugar they use. read more

I had high hope for a great burger at the nice place in the heart of Elk Rapids. Hope didn't happen this night. The burger was dry, slightly overcooked to well done and overall had no beef flavor to speak about. There was a char flavor but the underlying beef was absent. Fries were good. I might give this place another try, but not the burgers. I was so looking forward to a great meal. Server was nice but never asked how I wanted my burger cooked, and when I said that I was finished eating while half the burger was still on the plate, she picked it up and walked away without asking if anything was wrong with it. When asked if the beef was cooked from a frozen patty, the waitress said that she didn't know. Okay, must be frozen if they don't know. Maybe that is why it was dry and lacking flavor. read more

We ordered more apps and entrées than two people should, but we wanted to know how good the food was across the board. We were blown away!! One of the best restaurants in Northern Michigan. Very well executed. From the hostess to the server's customer service to mouthwatering bites across the menu to classic and innovative cocktails everything was stellar. They didn't have a wine menu even though they had wines. The had food menus that were old and dirty. The owner (who of course wasn't there) has put the fear of God into the staff. They were very cautious about saying anything that was negative. Until the are changes I WILL NOT be back. It summertime and they are not taking care of of the guest. read more

We drove out of our way to find they're completely closed at 8pm on a Saturday even though they claim hours are until 10pm and 9pm during the slow winter season. The waitress that served us had no personality at all. $5 tip only. Everything is way overpriced. $26+ for a chicken sandwich, and $16 for a tiny salad. I bought a beverage on tap, and was brought a can. The waitress said nothing about not having it on tap at the time. Overall, the food was not great. The chicken sandwich had almost no flavor, and they were out of fries, so I had to order chips. The chips that they have are just pulled straight out of a Great Lake Potato Chip Co bag, straight onto your plate. The ambiance of the room was ok, but there is a huge empty and dirty space in the middle of the room. One side of the restaurant has 6 televisions, while the over 90% has none. 1 star, will not go back again. Do not recommend. read more

Sadly, I need to update my original review. We enjoyed the Foundry last summer, and had two great meals: fish tacos and a Reuben sandwich. We have since been back two more times, and unfortunately, both times were horrible. The first time we returned, the food was not good, but the service was fine. We assumed the bad food was a one off. (The kitchen was very slow, the food was poorly made, and the worst part was everything was cold.) We gave them a pass. So, we went again last Saturday, ordered the same things, and got the same everything. We do understand the staffing issues everywhere, but this was just bad. An FYI, we are locals who spend the majority of our winter here, so it's not like we are just here for the summer or the weekend. I'm sorry, we won't be back. read more
