Simply stated, Foundations on the Level is one of the best companies I've ever dealt with. I have done a great deal of subcontracting over the years (both professionally and as a private consumer), and what I look for are companies that have Customer Satisfaction as one of their primary goals. A lot of companies say they do (or have some sort of slogan in their "Mission Statement"), but few actually deliver this in a meaningful way. Foundations on the Level is different in that they really focus on what's best for the customer. Also, in my experience at the end of a project both the consumer and contractor can't wait to be rid of each other. My experience with Foundations of the Level was not this way at all. Here are a few examples:
* First and foremost, they had the lowest price. I had three bids, and they were the lowest.
* They worked with me. During the engineering phase (being an engineer myself), I had several questions and comments about how the job should be designed. They not only listened, but offered me the opportunity to modify the engineering plans in such a manner that I saved several thousands of dollars. As a result, I actually wrote much of the verbiage that ultimately got incorporated into our contract as well as the warranty.
* During the fabrication stage, they couldn't have been more helpful. This was a most unsettling period of time when their construction crews (understandably) showed up and started digging large holes and saw-cutting our beautiful patio. However, they took great care in removing our plants and (daily) watered them to keep them alive during the construction. At the completion, they helped me find a contractor to repair the tile damage they had had to inflict to repair the concrete foundation that had shifted over time.
* A sign of a good company is how they handle problems. All projects have problems. During the fabrication stage, they happened to do some minor damage to the stucco on our house and create some oil stains on our patio. In response, Peter (the owner) came by on two separate Sundays and made repairs to both problems. The result, neither problem is now detectable.
* After completion of the job, all the paperwork, engineering documentation, city permits, and company warranty were provided to me.
This is a good company to deal with. I wish more companies had this Customer Satisfaction ethic. read more
