OH MY GOSH the old lady is so nice! my family and i really wanted ice cream at like 10 PM and so we drove all the way from AC, but they were closing early. but the lady running the place came up to our car and asked if we wanted ice cream! she opened the whole restaurant just for us! tipped 20% that day, AND will be visiting more often.

Worst banana split I ever had

The staff service is alone 5 stars! Great kids and happy energy. The place is quite old, retro however you want to call old. One of the oldest establishments in the area... but still a community favorite. They could use some maintenance and some real ice cream for the banana splits. They use soft serve ice cream for the splits and it was a melted mess within seconds. It Was not appetizing...the onion rings were also not that great, dry crumbled within the rings.

Foster's Freeze in Napa is like walking into the past! If you're looking for a nostalgic diner/ice cream shop, this is the right place! Aesthetic - 7/10 As mentioned above, very retro. We didn't stay to eat at the restaurant because we were just picking up dessert so my appreciation of the decor is limited but seemingly not super high quality. Staff - 10/10 The staff that helped us order was very sweet, she helped us pick the right order for us and was patient and upbeat! What more can you ask for when trying out a new ice cream spot? Our order: - Root beer float (8/10) - Hits the spot! Exactly what you're looking for and nothing more. Would order again. - Hot Fudge Sundae (7/10) - Not the highest quality ingredients, the fudge wasn't my favorite style but overall it was enjoyable! This spot won't blow you away, but it will hit that sweet spot :)

Hamburger is good and love the fries. Been there twice for Car & Cones with the Napa cruisers. Nice event to chill out on a mid week evening. Service is always good and attentive.

    Love the retro vibe.

I really wanted to love Fosters Freeze and as a frequent visitor to Napa, finally decided to stop in for some ice cream one night. It's a one and done place for me, which is sad, because the vintage vibe is charming (but the ice cream was awful). First, there's a customer-unfriendly sign that greets you at the register: you have to pay cash or there is an oddly specific 3.84% charge on all credit card transactions. This is listed as a "convenience fee," which rubs me the wrong way all around. Convenient for whom? We placed orders for two ice cream sundaes and waited. And waited. And waited. They forgot about our order! Finally we got our ice cream and it was disappointing. The ice cream had an odd color, flavor, and texture, and the hot fudge was right out of a can. The toppings (nuts and whipped cream) were too sparse, and the portion was crazy small considering the price. Now I'm sorry, but two ice creams shouldn't cost close to $15. I can't imagine coming here with a bunch of kids, it's not family-friendly pricing at all! The only thing I liked about Fosters Freeze is the interior. It looks like a 1980s ice cream parlor that has been frozen in time. Think dark red leather booths, a checkerboard floor, and mismatched stained glass light fixtures. But even the cool retro vibe can't erase the high prices, the ridiculous menu surcharge, and the bad product.

Swung by this location, it isn't our first time though.. Had to order chicken sandwich and fries WITHOUT salt! I have issues with salt being added to the fries.. (didn't eat the chicken sandwich).. I made it clear should be without salt although I am suspicious about it as I don't think fast food chains will take some time to change where they cool their fries.. Made it clear over and over again... When I left and dumped my fries from which was in a small white paperbag to the take out box, boom! There goes the pounds of salt.. Due to health issues why people request this limit and yet the worker behind the cashier did not even follow instructions... You will have to put the name of the business in jeopardy.. Never again. Disgusting!

The cutest Fosters Freeze location! I came here for dessert last month. The interior looks like a retro diner! I loved the vibe inside! I got a worms and dirt twister which was yummy! it comes with crushed Oreo and gummy worms! The lady working there told us that the store has been there for many decades and her daughter now owns it! I'll for sure stop by again when my sweet tooth hits!

Got an Oreo milkshake... so yummy and classic! They have a 3% fee when using a credit card, so I'd recommend coming prepared with cash.

It has the standard corned beef, Swiss, sauerkraut, and thousand island on rye. No notes on the sandwich really. Just well done. It came with a side of fries, which were just okay. Not bad. Not great. Just okay. - Dungeness crab Benedict: this is a crab cake topped with poached eggs and a jalapeño hollandaise. Amazing. Very crabby. The hollandaise didn't really taste jalapeño-y nor was it spicy. The side of hash browns was nice enough. Better than the French fries. Since I dropped by on a Monday, I only had to wait 10 minutes or so to get seated. If you go on a weekend, be prepared to wait some time. And the parking lot is rather cramped as well during the busy times. The servers are always very pleasant and attentive.

The waitress was kind friendly, although she disappeared at the end and a gentleman came up to check us out, which I always find odd (when they don't transition & let us know one of them is going to be taking a break etc. and one of them is going to be working there Station ... had our waitress stayed till the end. I simply would've shared the following information with her ...). I think the most surprising thing about the ambience this time was the fact that we sat in a corner booth (towards the front door), which used to be a favorite space for me ironically, and the white wood blinds were absolutely filthy. I mean a layer of dust & gunk on them like they hadn't been cleaned since the last time I sat there (years). I waitressed for a long time and I can tell you that people will judge a restaurant's cleanliness by the dining area: If the dining area is not clean, it makes the kitchen suspect. Boon Fly pays a lot of detail to a lot of other little details, so I'm hoping they will take a harder look at the dining room surroundings and make sure those get genuinely cleaned.

The restaurant has a counter-service setup where you order first and then find a table, but the layout is a bit tough. There isn't really any free space to stand and review the menu before getting in line without completely blocking the way. I ended up ordering an almond croissant and the loaded chorizo potatoes. I was so excited for the potatoes since it combines three of my favorite things: potatoes, hollandaise, and chorizo. Unfortunately, the taste just didn't live up to the presentation. The chorizo tasted nothing like traditional chorizo, almost like a completely different meat. The dish was heavily doused in sauce that it totally overpowered the flavor. I didn't even manage to eat half of the serving. The saving grace was definitely the almond croissant, which was delicious. It was perfectly buttery yet crispy, and topped with just the right amount of almonds and chocolate. Overall, I think the main breakfast dishes are worth skipping. I don't think I would return here for a meal, but if I had to come back, I would strictly stick to their pastries.

They did have several nice bottles to choose from, though. Our waiter was very friendly, attentive, and took great care of our table. My husband and I both ordered the halibut, and it was fantastic. The portions were generous, the fish was incredibly flavorful, and we both absolutely loved it. Everyone else at our table was also very pleased with their meals. The only unpleasant part of the evening was not really the restaurant's fault. The people seated next to us kept putting their small dogs on the table and allowing them to eat off their plates and lick the table. I have dogs and fully support bringing them along to dog-friendly restaurants, but that felt very unsanitary. I do think someone from the restaurant should have asked them to stop, although I'll give the staff the benefit of the doubt that they may not have seen it.
