Please don't ever close! I enjoy this place and it brings lots of memories from California

We were hanging out with some friends and they were raving about Fosters Freeze and their banana milkshake, and I knew I had to make it to give a try myself. I haven't been to a Fosters in forever, so didn't really know what to expect and had no expectations. I ended up ordering a double burger, fries, and banana milkshake. My girlfriend got the dipped chocolate cone. I thought the burger was just alright. It definitely needed some salt and/or pepper. The fries were solid though. The star of the show was definitely the banana milkshake. Great banana flavor and perfect for a warm day treat. The dipped cone, I wasn't as much of a fan of. The soft serve was more yellow than white and it didn't hold it's shape all that well. Good but you have to eat it immediately. Overall, while I didn't enjoy the food all that much, the banana milkshake itself is worth the stop here. read more

Great food and great service!! Reasonably priced and easy access to the property. I would highly recommend and I love their hot dogs & French fries. read more

I went into foster freeze today and ordered my usual tenders with the fries, I come back to my car and check my meal to see if they got it right they only put five fries in my tender combo no big deal so I went back and ask the lady to see if I could get more fries because that was ridiculous and homegirl talking about some "oh we always serve them like this". Mind you I've been going to this restaurant for my whole life and this has never happened to me and she wanted to be rude about it so I asked for a refund.Even the lady next to me said that was ridiculous.Do better with customer service I'm paying for it of course I'm going to be mad you would be too read more

Good old fashioned burgers and shakes. Friendly services. 70s vibe. Way better than global food chains.

I love the food here! My family and I have been going for a long time and always have good service. We love ordering the fries, burritos and ice cream. Is on the pricey side but delicious :) Ice cream sundae is always perfect with plenty of fudge and whip cream on top. Milkshakes are always delicious. I also love the banana splits and twisters, definitely recommend. Workers are always friendly and respectful when I visit. read more

The ice cream on the sundae was yellow , we us to get it a nice creamy white not like the other Foster Freeze. Very disappointing.

Bought a hot fudge Sunday and hardly any fudge on it. Worker. ( the large lady) was rude. You would think they charged her for the fudge. I asked for a little extra because there was very very little on it and with a disgusted voice said! I PUT ONE EHOLE PUMP ON THE BOTTOM!! GO TO 32 flavors, H&W, or Sonic's instead. I hadn't been to foster freeze over 3 years and I remembered why!! read more

This place waits for an order to come out to take another order. Then for a burger meal and two ice creams I waited over 30 mins to get my order. read more

The service has always been friendly and prompt. The ambiance is kinda hustle and bustle with a few seating options outside and a small indoor seating area. Disappointed in the establishment not having marinara sauce for the mozzarella sticks. And the fried zucchini sticks were very unsatisfactory. It's almost as if they sliced the inside part of the zucchini so all your getting is fried innards of the zucchini. At least the batter was decent but let's improve on that read more

The food was great. The service was wonderful. The young woman who took our order was pleasant and efficient. She smiled the whole time. Didn't take long for the food to be ready. read more

Love stopping by for a quick chocolate dipped cone with a side of fries! Sweet n Salty! Fast and friendly service!

I love Foster Freeze in Atwater but last night I wasn't happy with the establishment I drove in from Merced got there a little after 9 pm We went inside to order as we were going to eat our food inside which was told to the cashier At 930 a young lady came into the dining area and rudely stated we needed to leave, the dining area is closed now its 930 but we could eat outside I can see locking the area at 930 so no one else can go inside but I have never been asked to pick my food up and leave it will be sometime before I return read more

The Burger, fries and Twister was amazing I was excited to try Frosters Freeze out for the first time in a long time. The lady at the cash register was very chill although the downside was that when I got a Chocolate Shake I realized that I meant to get a Oreo Twister so I asked if I could remove the Shake and add a Twister but she said items couldnt be removed. read more

Poor service Food has gone down hill and continues to Id give 0 stars if possible Needs new owner or management or just shut this thing down and start over read more

Burgers are delicious, the #3 double decker is soooo good. Ice cream has this nostalgic old fashioned taste to it! Love coming here. There are two specific employees that always remember my order. This is a real authentic old fashioned foster freeze. read more

My family went to this place for dinner this evening and I will tell you this, as a former prep and line cook, I would not give this place the time of day for another one of their burgers. When I was taught by my head chef at the restaurant that I used to work at, he taught me the number one rule of cooking food, "if you won't eat it, don't expect anyone else to eat it either". Well to be blatantly honest here, I wouldn't feed the dry burgers from this place to my dog. I used to frequent this restaurant in my younger days but unfortunately it has changed hands and has gone downhill. Even most of my friends quit eating here since it last changed hands. Yes I used to be in the food service industry, but my health has declined so I had no other choice but to quit food service altogether except in a food tasting capacity. So yes I do some critiquing from time to time and this is one of those times. Good luck to Atwater Fosters Freeze, I hope you get better at producing better burger soon. You never know, one day I may be back to try another burger. read more

The ice cream is the best in town and also there food and there customer service tonight was really good

I've been to Foster's up and down the state of California and none of them have soft serve as good as this location. I don't know what their secret is but the ice cream comes out golden hued, texturally balanced between crystalized & creamy all while remaining dreamily delicious. It is the location by which all others are judged and found wanting. This place tastes like childhood. Atwater has seen better days as the increasingly dilapidated road that leads you here can attest. But once the rough journey is ended a true treasure awaits, where families & friends gather to treat themselves and bond in communal happiness while easing the weariness of the world at large. read more

I haven't been here for around 5 years. I was so shocked! I ordered a soft serve vanilla ice cream, my husband ordered hot fudge Sunday my daughter ordered root beer freeze. First my vanilla was a orange color . I asked is this vanilla? They said yes. Not only was my plan ice cream awful my husband got fudge was awful and so was my daughter's root beer float. That was the WORST TASTING ICE CREAM EVER !!!!! We all threw them away. NEVER AGAIN !! YUCK read more

This is a review for the ice creams as I have never tried the food here. The ice creams and twisters were good and the lady who rang us up (older woman) was super nice which is hard to come by these days. I have not tried the food only because the small of the grease that surrounds the restaurant is absolutely awful. The cashier really deserves to be recognized as she remained kind when the place was very busy and hectic! I'm read more

Sooooooo GOOD! Food is always tasty and service is amazing. The place looks like and original burger place. Vintage but still cleanly! The mozzarella do vary from time to time. Some days they have a lot of batter on them ( in a bad way) and salty. Ew. But when they make them correctly. YUM it tastes so delicious! read more

The employees are very unprofessional when it comes to customer service. They interrupt you while you're ordering which causes them to not give you what you ordered and paid for. They do not work well under pressure. read more

The employee are helpful and rarely mess up my order always happy to give condiments with napkins. The food is always good the kids like getting the kids meals with ice cream included read more

I returned 10 years later & the Ice cream & Banana split was garbage! The restroom were filthy !

The menu is old and limited compaired to big city fosters . Frys neeed Salt , Burgers are a little crispy which I liked , Also ice cream was good not great . But the main Thing that this location needs to fix is there slow employees taking orders and severing out the orders Also they could use a drive through, Will not be back . read more

The food was very good but not the service I spent 50 minutes there I would say "excuse me" and they say "I'll be there in a minute" it was more then a minute read more

This place is always very nostalgic for me, it hasn't changed in years and does a good job in maintaining the classic experience. As time goes on the prices keep going up and up but the quality of food keeps going down. The ice cream is still very good here and they are still one of the only places around that does a proper dipped cone. read more

Everyone that works here has an attitude. Customer service skills are obviously NOT part of the training. Only come here because no one else serves ice cream like this. The location is nasty though and the inside is always dirty and flies everywhere. read more

I enjoy a good burger and I wanted a good PASTRAMI burger from Foster Freeze. When I placed an order for a pastrami burger only, no fries, soda etc. I thought it was a SIMPLE order. On this day August 5, 2022 it was not. I called and placed the order at 11:41am. Wanting to beat any big rush for lunchtime. Picked up my order and came home. Got home and opened the bag and got a grilled bacon chicken sandwich. Not what I ordered!!! Called back at 12:12 pm and explained to them about the wrong order. That was an ordeal. I really thought that THIS order was simple. Had to bring the sandwich back and swap it out. Good thing gas is cheap and we don't do things all day to take food back! To top it off they didn't offer to make it right by offering fries or onion rings or a freakin drink or shake! You all suck at customer service!!!!! read more

Paid nearly $7 for a medium Reese's twister that was ALL vanilla ice cream after the first 3 bites. Sad this place has gone downhill and has gotten cheap within the last few years. read more

Have always loved Fosters Freeze, especially The Boss burger, but long black hair curled up in my son's burger ruined our lunch and I won't be back. No standards, no excuse. read more

The food here is good so it gets a star, but the girls working are SUPER slow and make mistakes every time we come. Also the same person to handle the money is also handling and preparing the drinks and ice cream without gloves OR washing her hands so that's super unsanitary and cross contamination read more

I had the Western Boss Combo it was so delicious. I enjoyed it so much. Bravo! I enjoy a delicious burger and that was the BEST!

This is a rough old place with interesting characters the food well it's a grease pit as long as you know what your getting your fine

Got three vanilla shakes yesterday. They were frozen pretty solid, not liquid at all. They gave us draws probably no more than 1/8 of an inch In diameter to drink these with. No hope of doing so. This just shows a lack of common sense on their part. read more

.Garbage Customer Service! 3 women working and not one came to the window to take my order. And there were 3 windows but no sign which said ORDER HERE!
