This review is not the provider Dr. Munoz was awesome and if she was anywhere else I would see her again. She was very professional and informative I appreciated everything that she talked to me about. However, the staff is ridiculous after she told them to order my contacts the girl proceeded to order them without asking me how many boxes I wanted. When she told me how much I owe. I asked her how many and she said four I said that I wanted six. Because they are monthlies she said that she could not do that. That is all fine but she proceeded to tell me that she couldn't order my contacts without talking to the doctor first. The doctor already said to order them. Over the course of the conversation they decided that I said that I had not cleaned my contacts in 20 years and they refuse to give me a prescription. They were giving me the fitting feedback but not the exam so I cannot go to another doctor until next year. what I wasn't aware of was that my prescription was still good for 3 months from the last one and I went and ordered six boxes for my previous provider. The doctor that was working yesterday said that she would not give me a prescription because of my intentions that was Doctor Chung. I would never ever let that woman touch my eyes. Very unprofessional!!!! I do apologize to Dr. Munoz because she had nothing to do with this it was just the unprofessional staff at the building and I do intend to file a complaint with the board. read more

Vampires and shysters; salespeople disguised as doctors. I chose Foster Vision to perform my annual eye exam because they're an "in network" provider for my insurance (which I later found out is a meaningless distinction), and have come to regret it. Every time I step foot in this place they demand more money. Apparently they have a habit of "undercharging" patients for services so that when you show up to retrieve the glasses and/or contacts you already paid for, there's a balance on your account and everything ends up costing significantly more than expected. I've never seen another optometrist pull that crap. They also used high-pressure sales tactics to convince me to spend $900 on a year's supply of daily use contacts. This is a direct quote from one of the providers who examined me: "Monthly contacts aren't sanitary, don't allow enough oxygen to reach your eye, and WILL cause infections. If you were my sister, I would insist that you buy the dailies." I very politely informed her that I've been wearing monthly contacts my entire life without a problem and feel pretty confident that they will continue to serve my needs. That clearly annoyed her, and she shamed me until I agreed to buy the most expensive monthly contacts they had to offer. I found that to be pretty unprofessional, to say the least, and I have zero confidence in her medical opinion, as this establishment's only objective appears to be netting as large a profit as possible. If you're searching for an optometrist to pick your pockets and bleed you dry, look no further. Foster Vision is your dream come true. read more

I went in for a concern that I had regarding waking up to a red eye with slight pressure occasionally. They did check my eye and said that nothing was torn or no apparent 'holes'. I however did not get a recommendation on what to do about my red eye, no attempt to see what it might be. Nothing ELSE. I still have a red eye with slight pressure once a week. Been seeing doctor Quan for years! Everyone there is super helpful and sweet and takes the time to get you what you need. I have gone to other places in the past when I was out of town and none of the other eye Care providers had as best service as Dr. Quan. Highly recommend. i was disappointed that I scheduled my 3 year old an appt, and when we got there, I was told that she could not been because she did not know her numbers and letters. why wouldn't you tell me this before I fought traffic and left work early to come to your clinic? when I mentioned this, they acted as if I was wrong for bring it up. I don't like how there's only a few places to sit, and the parking lot is crammed. It is clear Dr. Kwon loves her work. I went in for a routine eye exam and it turns out I have glaucoma. Here's the thing. It was a Saturday evening, and I was the last appointment. The clinic stayed open an hour late because my IOP was so high. The staff remained friendly and caring! Not only that, they take CareCredit, which made my day. I recommend this business highly. This is a nice enough shop. The prices are fine. The optometrist I've worked with there is good and gave me a thorough exam. The desk people are very friendly, but they are constantly pushing the sales aspect of the business. They do things like not writing the pupillary distance into eyeglasses prescriptions so that you are impeded from ordering elsewhere. I even explicitly asked for the PD and was told that they don't write that on scripts. The only reason to exclude that is for the purpose of making sure you buy glasses through them rather than from another retailer. They also do things like "strongly advise" the way services get billed to your insurance in an order that funnels future sales to them, and for no better reason than that it helps ensure lock-in there for future purchases. I understand needing to make money in a business, but find another way to do it that doesn't involve offering disingenuous advice or withholding information from patients about their own prescriptions. I expect medical practitioners to be trustworthy, and neither of the practices I described above give me confidence about the service I'm receiving. It's not even about the money aspect. I would likely still buy supplies from them even though it's somewhat more expensive than some other retailers simply because I'm already there and it's convenient. For example, I was offered an enhanced retinal exam, recommended since I have such myopic eyes. I was told up front that there's a fee and how much that fee was. I gladly accepted the extra charge and appreciated getting a very detailed view of my eyes with a thorough explanation from the doctor about how to interpret it. This was money well spent. What bothers me isn't the money; it's the prevaricating sales tactics. read more

A brightly lit, busy practice with phones ringing, clients checking in and out and legions of us trying to use our vision benefits before January 1st! I brought a prescription so my check-in was minimal. A technician quickly brought me two trays of sample frames , I chose one, she showed me a similar (but better for me) frame. I haven't picked up my new pair of glasses yet, but I have every confidence that they will continue with their excellent service after I have them in hand. We had a very nice experience at Foster Vision today. My wife and I came in for exams and glasses. The whole process was very service oriented. We were met and greeted as soon as we came in. Olesya did our exam and was very informative of how our vision was changing and also pointed out why my eyes felt so dry as soon as she examined me. Olesya really took the time to explain how and why this happens and also advised healing with non-meds. Sky helped us with frames and made sure they were covered by our plan. This is my 2nd year getting my eyewear here, and I have been satisfied both times. I got contacts last year and glasses this year, and both worked for me. The advantage to me is that they are a VSP provider and just down the street from where I live. I had a good experience during my eye exam at Foster Vision. First, I was greeted at the front desk and then asked to fill out some standard forms for Covid 19 and personal information. Then a young man took me through a preliminary check up. He was clear in his instructions and very efficient. Dr. Haley Kim then took me through a more thorough and professional examination. Through it all, she was very sweet and I felt very comfortable with her. Johanna and Anna then assisted me with pricing and patiently helped me choose a frame. I literally tried on 14 pairs of frames and they had to wipe each one. So sorry ladies!! There is also a great deal during this period for contact lenses where you get a huge rebate of $350 when you buy 6 months of weekly disposables + 6 months of biweekly ones. Was very happy with their service! I am waiting for my contact fitting appointment and my new glasses, after which I will update this review on that experience. This was my second eye care place I've been to in Portland and I absolutely loved it! I had a bad experience somewhere else and was hesitant to try again but was welcomed with open arms here. The doctors and staff here are incredibly nice and very funny as well. I special ordered my glasses and didn't get to try them on before getting them and when I got them I didn't like them. This is a great little shop! They have a nice selection of glasses and are fairly priced and affordable especially compared to some of the other shops in Portland. I had my eye exam by a staff optometrist and my contact follow up Dr. Kwon. They were both great. Dr Kwon and her staff were very hands on and helpful during the whole process. When I ordered my glasses, the turn around time was incredibly fast and I'm very happy with them. Dr. Kwon even called me herself to tell me they were in! The staff was friendly and helpful. I have to agree with the previous reviewer and their sales tactics and billing. When I asked for my prescription they said no, they would give it to me on the 2nd appointment. Why they wouldn't give it to me then, I'm not sure. She also charged me $60 for assisting me put 1 contact in. She referred to it as exam services . If she would take told me if I help with this contact it will cost you $60, I would have said no. I would say there are better optometrists out there. I wouldn't recommend this place, but it wasn't that bad. read more

In good faith I paid a visit after my 5 year old pair of glasses broke. Unbelievable! Do you ever have one of those experiences and ask yourself, "Is this really Happening?" No initial greeting or acknowledgment when I arrived after a phone call. The staff had problems operating the equipment and seemed distant and preoccupied. Dr. Kwon appeared more interested in selling me a $1,000 pair of progressive glasses rather than helping me see clearly. No clear price options or product descriptions. When the prescription came the left lens made my vision completely blurry and she would not be accountable for any errors. She gave me at least 5 different excuses like, "The automated equipment made an error", "The lab made a mistake", "You are getting old", "Optics are tricky" and "you will get used to the new glasses in a Few weeks"! Anything but, oh I might have made a mistake in the prescription lets recheck that. I had to go elsewhere and discovered that the prescription was wrong. I asked Dr. Kwon for a refund and received credit on my card only to receive a Bill for the glasses that did not work. My advise is to stay away from this place if you want real eye care. read more

Just wanted to warn people about the fee this place charges. On top of your regular insurance copay, it charges an additional $25 service fee (I believe that's what they call it). I called my insurance to make sure it wasn't some kind of additional copay that my insurance required and my insurance said no. I had never ever been to a place where I was charged this service fee. Besides, I didn't get any extra service whatsoever. My whole eye exam with the optometrist only took 5 minutes and the technician spent less than 5 minutes showing me the glasses and I had to fork out $25 for that! read more

My husband and I were long over due for our exams and through a friend recommendation gave Foster Vision a whirl. Dr. Lee was super nice and thorough. The staff was friendly. Ana gets the absolute biggest, shiniest, goldest star of the day! She went over and beyond customer service expectations. I wouldn't call my self high maintenance, but very selective and she did not rush or push. She dealt with an accidental insurance curve ball I threw her and I am beyond grateful for her time. The office accommodated my sensitivity to flashing lights by varying the order of the tests when I asked. The staff is always great. I usually praise myself for not giving in under pressure, but trust me, you will fall for whatever she says (which she claims is for your benefits, but really it's for her to make more money) and end up paying for a lot of money for poor customer service and a low end product at the end. Wow! This is an experience. Dr. Kwon, is amazing. She explained a lot of different options to me for my contacts and made sure that I had a comfortable pair before I ordered them. She even gave me a couple sample boxes to try out for a few days. She asked all the right questions to make sure I was getting the correct prescription, comfort, practicality, and value. Do not go to this place! I needed an appointment soon because my insurance was about to expire so I ended up going to this place after googling nearby places. The service was ok until the moment I said I wanted something cheaper. Then instantly, I was ignored by the eye doctor. They tried to persuade me to go with something that i would have to bleed out a couple hundred dollars! I always went to Costco for glasses or contact lenses and I was always able to get the best product available with my insurance coverage and no copay. At this place, I needed to pay out of pocket money and got the crappiest product! My friend went to this place before and had a bad experience, too. I wish I had known about it before going. read more
