Overall: If you think all optometrist are the same, you haven't been checked by Dr. D! He is an honest individual that has your best interest in mind! Parking: Never had trouble finding parking - private lot. If this ever gets full, which it hasn't and I've gone countless times, there is a free parking area a few blocks away. Service: I will recommend Dr. D and his team to anyone and everyone! My girlfriend and I followed him from Clackamas Town Center because of his honesty. Very informative appointment with helpful and patient staff, and super fast delivery. I went to Dr. Derstine for my eye exam and he was very understanding that I have no knowledge of eye care or experience in wearing corrective glasses or lenses. He explained the different lens options and presented the pros and cons of each one. He is a very honest guy and truly wants to do what is best for his customer. His calm and caring demeanor definitely helps you feel at ease. Once my exam was complete, Zoe helped me pick out frames that matched my personality and face. I just needed that extra touch and second opinion, and she was a lot of fun and definitely made my shopping experience easy going. She also let my daughter try on glasses so that she didn't feel left out. I was also pleasantly surprised that my glasses arrived 2 weeks before the expected date. I love this office! Dropped from two star to one star. It's been more than a month since my husband ordered his glasses and this place just can't seem to figure it out. No communication. No offering to make up for the wait in any way. Glasses are medical devices, not accessories. They are necessary to operate in the world. The front desk and staff are so friendly. I walked in and was greeted immediately, also offered water and coffee. The doctor was very friendly and thorough in my exam and didn't rush me at all. They assisted me with my insurance detail and calculations, were helpful in processing my order, and my contacts arrived so much faster than I anticipated (within the same week). I am only giving Moreland vision 2 stars due to there actual eye exam. I should be giving them one star as the receptionist had an error on every piece of information I gave them. I was also told I would have my glasses in 10 business days. It is now a month after my appointment and no one knows where my glasses are. They tried offering me a $25 gift card to make up for there poor service. Normally a nice thing to do but not at all worth the headache of buying prescription glasses again from this unorganized business. So... today was the day they finnally received my glasses... did I get a phone call, no. So I decided to call them an hour before they closed after being told I will receive a phone call and text when they arrive. Kate answered the phone when I called. Kate likes to hang up on patients when she goes to check on things for you. Got used to this over the past month of calling them. So I call back, my glasses are there! Good news because I now will never have to deal with this horrible unorganized business again. If you want my $25 gift certificate let me know I won't be using it. Downgraded my to rating from 2 starts to 1 star btw. read more

Purchased several pairs of glasses over the years. Their lab broke my four year old $800 glasses replacing a lens. They offered me $192 toward new frames. Doctor actually compared it to totaling a car. So, their lab totaled my glasses, but my fault. I'm out Lefont frames with transition lenses. Rude and just plain poor business. I agree with the other review that Dr. Wojochowski and his staff are really thorough during the eye exam, and they are certainly friendly and professional. When I lived in Sellwood-West Moreland, I used this office with no complaints for two years going to eye exams, letting them collect my insurance money, and ordering my contacts' supply... then I needed new lenses for my glasses. Delivering my new pair of glasses took them three months due to mistake after mistake by them. First, the lab they contract with broke my original pair of frames, which I had owned for about five years with no problems, so I had to go in to the office to order new frames. Then, they returned my new scratch resistant "crystal clear" frames, which I paid an extra out-of-pocket cost for, with a huge smudge-like scratch the size of my pinkie finger, so I had to bring them back in to get another new set of lenses. You would think the problems would be over at that point; however, the scratch-resistant lenses after a few months developed a hair-line scratch about half an inch in length, and I know the treatment they claimed to have put on my lenses works because my husband had the same treatment on his glasses, done by another doctor/lab in Boston, about five years ago and he still has not a scratch in sight on his pair. Finally, my frames, the exact same type I had prior to ordering them from Moreland Vision Source which I owned for five years before they broke them, snapped in half yesterday after less than two years of ownership. Overall, if you never experience actual problems or need anything other than for them to collect your insurance money after the eye exams, then I suggest you use an eye doctor who contracts with a lab that knows their business. read more

Good old-fashioned (rare these days) Customer Service. I've been a patient for ~15 years and each visit I'm amazed at the level of personalized support, and the quality of their products and services. For example, I recently worked with them to get a vision test and new pair of glasses, and when the type of lenses I CHOSE made me dizzy, they replaced them with another type, free of charge. The doctor is great, he is wonderful - but I paid a ton of money for really bad glasses. The lady who fits the glasses couldn't care less if the glasses fit you or even if they are what you are looking for. The first pair I got were too small, she gave them to me when they came in and said goodbye. Never even offered to adjust them. Then, I got a pair of sunglasses. They came in, too big, and weren't even sunglasses! They were tinted glasses! You could see my eyes clearly and didn't look at all right in the sunglasses frame when they clearly ordered tinted glasses! Again, tossed them to me and said goodbye. The eye exams are fine here (I saw Dr. Derstine) but I do not recommend buying your glasses here. Poor quality, poor fit. And they are not cheap!! The women working here are like used car salesmen. I got hustled into glasses that are uncomfortable and too big for my face. The glasses make a crackling sound when I take them on and off too. I will not be buying glasses here in the future. Portland is awash in flashy, high-priced vision centers, where you can shop for $1600 wood-rimmed glasses. Since I'm someone who doesn't have vision insurance and is looking for an exam to support my Warby Parker and 1800Contacts orders, I'm not generally popular with the optometrists. After making several calls on the hunt for a bargain exam, I found Moreland Vision Source. They quoted me $151 for the exam, including a contact lens fitting. This was comparable to Sears and Lenscrafters, while still being a locally owned office. I made my appointment and arrived on time. There was apparently some confusion about my arrival time, so I ended up waiting about a half hour. I arrived in a bad mood, so I was kinda sitting there, marinating in all my awfulness. My mood quickly changed when the assistant arrived to complete the first part of the vision test. She was friendly and professional, and it was obvious immediately that the test was going to be detailed and thorough -- which is exactly what I wanted. I really liked that the equipment and devices were a combination of older, tried and true methods, and newer technology. The second part of the exam by the optometrist himself was also friendly and professional, as well as thorough, and when I was given my first two lenses to try on, I was amazed at how much better I could see. I was given five days worth of trial lenses of one brand, and an additional five days of another brand to see which works better. On the way out, I received a "buy our glasses" pep talk from one of the front desk workers. The frames on display are a nice combination of affordable and designer, and I did get a clear picture of what I've been missing out on through ordering online. I still can't afford the full priced frames, but when I can I'll be back to Moreland Vision Center. After leaving Moreland Vision Center I felt even more pleased by the exam, as blurry shapes have come into focus and distant text is once again fully legible. This is a great option if you're looking for professionalism, affordability, and a careful exam. read more

I came here for a pair of frames and lenses as I had lost mine. Had my prescription in hand and ready to go. The ladies here were SO nice. At first I was a little overwhelmed because they are very involved in helping you choose a style instead of leaving you to browse, but they also have great recommendations and give you really positive feedback on the frame you try on. I have a significant prism prescription in both directions - my eyes don't track correctly - and I need the prism to be correct to keep from getting headaches. I had my vision tested in another office, and brought my prescription to Moreland Vision to look for frames. I liked the people, who were very helpful, and I was expecting everything to be fine. However, when I got my glasses, they turned out to be missing the prism correction. I am afraid I will not be going to Moreland again - I can't imagine why they didn't check my glasses before they dispensed them to me. read more

I don't understand the negative reviews here. Who would have thought that plastic frames fatigue and break, or that scratch *resistant* lenses might, you know, scratch? Nearly everybody, is who. I've been going to Moreland Vision for four years now, and have always been treated fairly and pleasantly. I recently developed cataracts and required surgery. Doctor Scott and staff coordinated things with Pacific Cataract and everything went smoothly. The follow-up checks have been thorough and informative. Billing is sometimes uneven, but insurance companies are notoriously fussy; at times it's like dealing with petulant five-year-olds. I've never waited more than a couple of weeks for new glasses, and the staff has always done a good job of fitting, replacing pads, etc. Adjustments are always free for the life of the frames. Since I'm diabetic, the eye test results are forwarded to my regular physician. I used to go to the cheap chain store places like Pearl, but after poor exams and prescriptions that made me see double, I gave up on them. I'll take professionals over salesmen any day. read more

I started going to Moreland Vision over a decade ago. When I moved 2 hours away I made sure to try and keep them as my primary even though insurance didn't cover it. It had been almost 4 years since I had called for an exam or to get new glasses and contacts, so you could imagine my surprise when I phoned for an appointment and the lady on the other end remembered me; beyond seeing my name on a caller id, she asked about my son, asked if I still played softball and how my grandma was doing. The level of comfort and professionalism is beyond stellar! I've never had problems with my lenses or contacts and they've never tried to take advantage of me financially. I'm always pretty open about not having optical insurance and since I have to pay out of pocket I'm not ever in the market for top of the line, but they have always worked with me to make sure that I'm getting dependable, comfortable products within my price range. I absolutely love these guys and am going to be sad when we move to Virginia (even though I don't make it in to see them as often as I should). read more
